    Fly the flag upside down

They are disrespectful to military and the other customers. They say they're contractor friendly and not at all.

I've stayed at a lot of hotels and quality inn in general is not one I expect a lot from... however this one didn't even have the crappy breakfast they usually serve. if you didn't get there at 6am on the dot... the buffet pans were licked clean. It seems like a place you come to party and do questionable things. I arrived pretty late and as I walked down the hall to my room I was hit by the strong smell of marijuana and was immediately high as f@*k and outside most of the rooms were bags of beer cans that needed to be picked up by housekeeping. The mattress creaks and it's not surprising considering there's hand prints above the bed. Management! ... at least wipe off the old hand prints so I can make my own. The ac outlet looks like it's trying to leave the premises and I don't blame it... I'm sure it's seen some things. The bathroom couldn't even be considered close to clean... I think they sprayed it down with toxic waste. Outside my window is a little woodsy area that people either sleep in (probably because it's cleaner) or party in. Overall it was disgusting, but they didn't have roaches or bedbugs... that I saw.

Absolutely DISGUSTING. Carpet is all tore up and trash lines the halls. A lot of bugs and the room stunk

Stayed at the Hampton Inn in Havelock, NC, with my family on October 7, 2025. Our room was on the…read moretop floor, and smelled like mold and mildew. Extremely strong odor. The room was also dirty, other people's hair in the bathroom on the soap dispensers, There was a dehumidifier in the room which I thought was weird. There was also dehumidifiers in the hallway going. I had my kids, ages 6, 4 and 1 with me and I didn't want them getting sick so I went down to complain at the front desk. The lady offered me a different job room down the hall that didn't have the mildew smell. We switched rooms. We needed to use the pull out sofa bed and upon opening it up, we found a dead bug on the sheets along with food in and under the sofa. I took pictures and went back down to the front desk to request it be cleaned. The front lady handed me new sheets and handed me a broom. So I payed to clean my own as well as stay the night. We had intended to stay 2 nights but decided to stay the following night at the Holiday next door. I would not recommend staying here.

Unfortunately, my digital key didn't work so I had to stop at the desk. She moved me from the room I had selected via online check-in. That room was still dirty, she said. The room was fine. Pretty spacious, clean, and comfortable. Bathroom also was clean and spacious. Breakfast was the normal Hampton Inn breakfast. Good. This is a good property and, given the lack of options in the area, I'd stay again.

On April 11th we checked into The O'Neal. We were expecting a boutique hotel experience. While our…read moreroom was nice our experience was very different. We left the hotel at 6:30 for dinner. When we came back the door was locked. No one answered the doorbell. We called for assistance and were told to enter our room code. Three times that didn't work and neither did the other code we were given. We were told to drive to a sister hotel but our car keys were in the room. We were told someone would be there in 15 minutes. My husband tried entering the last 3 digits of our code and the door opened. We went to our room and packed. As we were leaving a woman opened the outside door explaining that the code worked and that we were being charged for the night. Never once did she apologize. The following Monday I called and asked for the owner's name and contact information. I emailed him about the experience and as of today I haven't heard from him. Very disappointing experience both Amanda Everett, the manager, and Stephen Hill, the owner do not know how to handle customer situations. We also were told that the hotel had problems with the door not opening. Had my husband not figured out how to open the door with only 3 digits we would have been standing on the sidewalk, on a Friday night for 45 minutes.

Room floor was so dirty my feet got dirty walking on it. I complained and asked them to mop. They…read moresaid they did while I was gone but when I came back it still had grit and sand? on it. I spilled something on the bed so I pulled the sheets up from the mattress. When I came back later they just laid the sheets and blanket back down. I again had to go to the desk and ask for service. Went to the pool and some substance was floating in the corner. It looked like vomit. I alerted the staff and they said it was just pollen and suntan lotion. Pollen in late July? Was informed by other guest that 2 days prior someone had been vomiting in the pool and they never cleaned it. A guy came out with a paper towel and skimmed the water but it is very much still there.

(This visit was made during the times of Covidious. When things return to a look of normality -…read moreyour experience likely will vary.) It's a bizarre time to be reviewing most things because Covid has obviously thrown off the "normal" into many shades of grey. With that said, take this one with a grain of salt as it's only a brief snapshot in time for how things are now. In another month or two, who knows? Let's start with the good: The location to the beach couldn't be any better. Just a short walk and you're there. The hotel was sold out or near it every night we were there yet the beach area directly across the street was never busy. The same as last year with seeing the same families and people every day more or less set up in the same spot very spread out from each other. All Covidly perfect. Not so good: Hilton Honors benefits at check in are still a no here, just like last year. The beds are extremely squeaky. Any sitting/moving = high pitched squeaking. The hotel is not following the new Hilton/Lysol cleaning protocol that started a few weeks ago. No stickers on the room doors or verbiage anywhere on property. I was told at check in that if you want your garbage taken to have it in the hallway early in the morning so that housekeeping could grab it and that the only way to get fresh towels or any bedding was to stop a housekeeper in the hall with your old stuff or bring your old stuff with you to the front desk since the hotel was running extremely low. Is the hotel's linen par really that low? Is the smell of that much garbage-food in the hallways overnight a good idea? Our room was dusty/sandy when we checked in and the a/c unit was filthy. No way were either cleaned thoroughly in a while. But since there was no daily housekeeping and with the hotel being sold out the day we checked in... If you want a hotel that has a great beach location that is out of the way and quiet, this is it. Past that, things were on the dirtier side in general and I question any place not following the new cleaning protocol. Time to give this one a rest for a bit.
