Great staff and caring for their guests. We only had one hiccup and that was the first night and the property provided us a fire log. After about an hour after lightning it, the room was filled with smoke, the alarm went off and had to open the door to our porch and the entry door. I would suggest a chimney sweep as there are probably birds nests among other things that would clog up the flu. The bathroom light and fan quit working for about an hour on our third morning. The Inlet Inn is located in Downtown Beaufort, right on Front Street. It is close to the shops and restaurants. The Inn offers free parking. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful during my stay. I stayed in a 2nd-floor waterfront room again, and although I didn't use the balcony as much as I had in summer, the views out the windows were still lovely, and I got to see a few sunsets. My room was large and had a king-sized bed, a couch, a table with two chairs, a good-sized flat-screen TV, a refrigerator, a microwave, and a coffeemaker. A dehumidifier was in the room, but it was less humid this time of year, so it didn't need to be emptied. Shampoo, soap and lotion were provided. The products were good quality, and I remembered to bring my own conditioner, and I am not sure why it isn't provided. I was pleased that the wifi was working on this trip, as that has been an issue on each of my previous visits. The tv lineup also had more selection. They may have switched providers for more reliable service. The heater in the room kept the room hot, it got a little too hot at times and it was just set on 63 but that made the room closer to 75. The lowest the wall unit went was 58. I couldn't find a way to shut off the ceiling fan. The bathroom could have used more attention with the cleaning. The showerhead had a lot of buildup and didn't appear to have been cleaned for months; black mold on the shower tiles and the floor could use a cleaning. It could use a deep cleaning or remodel, as the toilet was outdated and used a lot of water. Breakfast was served between 7:30 and 9:30. You could get tea or coffee, OJ, and a bagel or yogurt. It came fast this visit on the days I called for it. I left early on my last day, so I wasn't there for breakfast. They used to include the yogurt too. With the high room prices here, I hope the bathrooms are updated and cleaned, and that the breakfast options improve. read more

When walking into our 3rd floor room with a vaulted ceiling and stunning window seat, I said, "WOW, WOW!" The views, I wanted to stay forever. They have an inviting library lounge with a awe inspiring widow's walk overseeing the dock and inlet. We saw dolphins! This stunning motel style inn has doors that open to the outside. The Inn is not without faults, bathrooms need updating, the elevator is extremely slow and the abysmal continental breakfast is sad, very, very sad. Since paying nearly 300.00 off season, one would hope for a few more polished extras. A better breakfast and perhaps serving wine in their lounge during happy hour, would push this into a luxurious 5 star Inn. I would gladly pay for the extras just for the convenience. The Inlet Inn is a beautiful and bright hotel in downtown Beaufort. I came here for the long weekend. The weather turned sour, but that allowed me to relax and revive. I chose a third-floor double queen suite with a sitting area overlooking the water. The sitting area is perfect for the bookworm and the writer. The rain made for a cozy stay. The room is spacious and homestyle. I made use of the time and felt refreshed and satisfied. The hotel staff does a great job of cleaning the room between guests. What I learned about The Inlet Inn & why I loved it. The Inlet Inn is a small family-owned and operated waterfront hotel in downtown Beaufort's historic district. The Inn has great views of the harbour and from your own porch or patio, you can watch wild horses graze and apparently, you can see dolphins play. They have 36 rooms, large waterfront rooms with a king bed, sitting area with pull-out sofa and private balconies with rocking chairs are located on the first and second floors. A perfect spot for any guests to relax and enjoy the beautiful views and ocean breezes. I learned that six of their first-floor waterfront rooms have working fireplaces for the cooler shoulder seasons or a romantic evening. The third-floor rooms offer two queen beds, a dining table and chairs and a large bay window seat perfect for cuddling up with a book and watching the wild horses and traveling mariners. They also have a few west-facing non-waterfront rooms. One of which has a king bed and two twins and this is perfect for larger families. The Inlet Inn tradition is modeled after the British Colonial tradition and serves a continental breakfast with fresh brewed Jamaican "Blue Mountain" coffee, OJ, toasted bagels and warm muffins. And best of all, they [deliver] it straight to your room so you can lounge a bit longer in your pjs!. Breakfast can also be enjoyed in the third-floor Widow's Walk Lounge. Our room was not waterfront, my fault for not paying better attention on making the Expedia reservation. That river view would have made the experience all the better. Location is easy walking distance to "main" street. Our room was spacious and nicely appointed, every thing fresh and clean. Mattress offered a sound night's sleep. We really liked the house shampoo and bath soap - available for purchase ( a tad on the pricey side, but the stuff is excellent). Definitely stay here again on the next Beaufort visit. read more

We are a retired couple. Stayed 2 nights in early October in the Inn. We were told by locals that it was recently remodeled. We stayed in room 313. Loved the large room and tall ceilings. The facility is clean, attractive and our room was very quiet. My husband who is an early riser, enjoyed sitting on the balcony reading each morning and listening to the birds sing in a wood rocker. We also enjoyed using the 3rd floor lounge, but unfortunately it doesn't open until 7:30 am. It would be nice to have it open earlier, when the front desk person arrives. On cooler days people want to be indoors. My husband wakes before me, so he likes to leave the room while I am still sleeping. The room has wood vinyl floors. The beds were comfortable and had nice linens. The wood chairs are too hard and need cushions or should be replaced with more comfortable chairs. We missed not having a lounge chair in the room. The bay window was ideal for placing out suitcases, but not comfortable for sitting and reading due to the steps and depth. The shower is a combination tub shower. We noticed that the majority of guests this time of year are seniors. A vertical grab bar needs to be installed on the wall by the tub for safety when people are climbing into the tub to shower. Very nice plush linens! We own an electric vehicle and were pleased there are two chargers in parking lot. (This trip we flew, and rented a car, so we did not use the chargers.) The Inn is ideally located with walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc. Complimentary breakfast is coffee, orange juice and fresh muffins or toasted bagels. One day we had a very tiny 4 Oz yogurt. The second day they had a small microwave packet of oatmeal. The rooms have a table and refrigerator, but no microwave. A microwave is available in the 3rd floor lounge. read more

Really love this inn. There was someone seriously elephant stomping all around upstairs all hours. Would recommend putting in rugs. Usually people here are more considerate past 9:30, and it's not an issue. The parking is easy, and the coffee is great. The fireplaces are a nice touch on cool nights, but they close them off in the Spring (would have been good to know before booking). Interior design is very nice, but the bathrooms could use some help. Staff is friendly. Would definitely return but might get top floor just in case the stomper comes back! read more

Lovely place. This was a last minute anniversary trip for us. Our first visit to Beaufort! The Inn is beautiful, quiet and so relaxing. The view from our first floor room is spectacular especially in the evening. The horses are literally just across the water! Check in was a breeze, we even checked in a little early! Office staff have been very friendly. The rooms are somewhat dated (mattresses could use a topper) however we have heard they are in the process of doing some updating. This didn't bother us at all. Everything in the room works great. Parking is very easy to get in and out of. An did I mention the view?!?! Everything is within walking distance. We will definitely come back and stay at the Inlet Inn. With this location I'm not sure why anyone would stay anywhere else! We have two more days here and I wish we had another week here!!! Enjoyed a one-night stay at this lovely inn beautifully located near the waterfront. We did not book an ocean view room but our room #311 was huge and bright and beautifully decorated with two queen beds. The window seat did afford a view of the waterfront! The Beaufort Grocery restaurant is right across the street and was packed ( wish we had gone but didn't) The inn does a contactless check-in and had all of the room keys in envelopes outside the lobby ready for our arrival. Off the 3rd floor, there is a lounge and chairs to enjoy the waterfront views. A continental breakfast is delivered to the room starting at 730am but we had to leave to drive to Cedar Island to catch the ferry to Ocracoke. This is a beautiful inn and Beaufort is a wonderful stop! read more

The check-in lady was so nice, even offering restaurant recommendations. Our room was HUGE! With a very large back porch that faced the side street. The room had a sofa, table and chairs, desk, and mini fridge. If I had to complain, it would be about limited space to put things. The bathroom sink is a pedestal, so no room to put your toiletries. The surfaces in the bedroom are covered with books, lamps, decorations, etc. So there's limited space there as well. But this is minor, and the rest of the place is so nice that I still give it a 5 Star rating. read more

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!! We went for Beaufort's Annual Pirate Invasion weekend and had the best seat in the house! Room 201 is known as THE BEST ROOM for viewing the invasion! We were on a waiting list for the hotel and lucky us, some pirate must have given up the room so he could go back to pillaging and plundering through the town....AARRGGHH!! I still cannot believe how lucky we were. I actually asked as we were checking out to reserve it for next year and it's already reserved!! :( This being the first time we stayed here, we were excited because the Inn is set on Front street, facing the inlet, across the street from the docks and restaurants. Our balcony was on the corner so we faced the street and then could see down the waterway for miles. We could also see the wild horses on Shackleford island and dolphins at dusk. The staff were friendly, nothing fabulous. The person I talked to on the phone to tell me we were the lucky recipients from the waiting list to have room 201 was super friendly, but when we arrived she was not there. The breakfast is delivered to your room by 9:30am and consists of 2 bagels and 2 muffins. I'm allergic to nuts to I could not eat the muffins, so I resorted to a plain bagel. No frills. Cleanliness- ok, here is my beef. It's not that it was dirty, it just wasn't tip top. I think because it is set on the waterway, the salt water/air may make things rust a bit. That coupled with the Inn being somewhat old, it wasn't as nice as I'd like. Don't get me wrong, it was nice, just not as nice for the price. The showerhead needed some extra cleaning love and our bathtub had some cruddy stuff on the outside of it. We paid for our location- no doubt! I would have given this place 5 stars but the cleanliness issue vs. the price we paid made me give it a 4. I will definitely be back though! read more

My wife wanted a place to go and to get way for the weekend for her birthday and Valentines Day. I booked two nights at the Inlet Inn. This was our first time here and will not be our last. Arrived on Friday with a quickly checked in taking less that 5 mins to get keys and to our room. The room was perfect for two people and had rocking chairs on the porch over looking the water and docks. Breakfast was great both mornings and it was a quiet place to stay. We were able to walk all over town and did not have to ride around looking for parking as most places. Enjoyed see the horses across the water on the island and great sunsets from the fourth floor balcony. Great place to get way from the busy things of everyday life. Lots of 5 star reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was not without problems. We stayed the weekend of April 22nd 2022, booking here because of the ACCESS TO THEIR EV CHARGER, which was of primary importance to us. However, (1) the WIFI ACCESS NEVER WORKED more than a few moments, even with help from the front desk, making it unusable. (2) There was a STAIN ON THE BED COVER and (3) the last night we were there, a COCKROACH was crawling in the bathroom. It was too fast for me. (4) The A/C AND DEHUMIDIFIER (which needed to be emptied) WERE SO NOISY, we turned them off periodically. I left a comment card when we were leaving but have heard nothing more than an email of their newsletter. We shared the charger with a golf cart but that was no problem. We spend time in the area several times a year and this is a good location in a great little town with great restaurants and we'd like to stay there again but it's pretty pricey for no wifi and roaches. read more

We weren't here for long - just a single night while passing through, but it was delightful. Comfy beds, A/C that keeps up with the August humidity, and spacious rooms. This place is right in the heart of the canal area, lots of restaurants and bars within close walking distance (we went to the Queen Anne's Revenge pizzeria and bar, which was quite nice). There's also a delightful walking ghost tour that leaves from right outside the lobby. Lots of pirate, Civil War, and Revolutionary era stories about people who lived and died there - bring cash to tip your guide, because he'll deserve it (and we forgot to get some in advance, whoops). This isn't about the Inlet Inn, but take my warning on the ghost tour... Bring bug spray. We were eaten alive by gnats and mosquitos the entire way through, and this was after the tour operator said bugs weren't likely to be an issue when I asked about it. Lesson learned - even if the bugs are no big deal by local standards, do not underestimate them. Also - to be clear, no bugs inside the Inlet Inn. Just outside. Just brought that up as a tangential point. read more

We stayed at this hotel in January. It is a very quiet locals only feel this time of year. There are no boat tours or hunted tours, but if you just want to relax, enjoy the peacefulness of it all, this is the time of year to visit. The hotel is cheap this time of year, the room we stayed in was a 2nd floor not ocean view. The room itself and the deck was huge, as was the king size bed. It is actually like a bedroom and a living room combined. There is the bed, then a a couch, fold out table, coffee table etc. OJ, muffins, bagels are served to your room in the morning. It is centrally located to everything. Plenty of room to park, very friendly staff and the entire property is very clean and well kept. read more

This was Our 3rd stay at the Inlet Inn. If we didn't love it, there would not have been a 2nd visit. We stayed on the 2nd floor on all 3 stays. The view is Beautiful! Yes, we saw the Wild Horses on Shackleford Banks from our Balcony...which we basically stayed on the whole time. Our room, I will call it a Suite...was awesome! The staff is friendly and attentive, but not overly which is good. Restaurants are awesome! You have to try the Pizza at Queen Anne's Revenge. The BEST pizza ever !The one Restaurant that we missed on this trip was Old Salt. I sure hope they re open before Our next stay. The Oysters are THE BEST! The staff was helpful, from the first phone call. The room was very clean. We were on the 3rd floor, and had a window seat that overlooked the waterfront of Beaufort. Other rooms have balconies or patios. The rates were very reasonable. We stayed here on Halloween night, and took our 2 boys out trick-or-treating in the neighborhood near the Inn. We felt very safe, and had a really good time. We recommend the Inlet Inn, and would stay there again. read more

We stayed there Friday and Saturday nights the weekend between Christmas and New Years; there were a lot of people in town and I think the place was fairly well filled up. We found the service to be fine. We had a room on the second floor overlooking the water and loved it. Large, well furnished, attractive. The bed verged on the hard side but was ok. I'm grading it below a five because the internet was sporadic and the breakfast is high carb which is of no value to me. We almost left without visiting the lounge, 309. You can have the breakfast there (or have it delivered to your room) or you can sit and enjoy the view, which is likely the best view in Beaufort. Also it's claimed the internet is better there; I didn't try it. I expect we will go back when it's warmer and we can enjoy the large balcony. The parking lot and office are off of Queen Street, which is one-way toward the water so you'll need to approach it from behind; from US 70 you can go there directly on Queen Street. read more

We have stayed in Beaufort before and enjoyed the stay at another hotel. We tried the Inlet Inn for the one night. When we checked in the young man at the desk was nice but did not greet us other than name and here is your key. ( customer service is lacking.) He looked as if he did not care to be working at the hotel or just bored) He was nice but did not provide any information about the breakfast being offered in the morning. The lobby is small with some information about the area. The room was on the first floor. The room was in need of updating and the dehumidifier was full when we checked in so we emptied it. (changed it twice in 24 hours) The chair is in front of the AC unit which limits the air flow in the room. We move the chair and turned the AC down to 61 and by the next morning it was nice in the room. The room is dated with plastic plants, dust on the furniture and the bathtub had a chip in it. The bathroom is small and the toilet kept running after you flushed it. The management had a guide about the hotel which was interesting. (they have counted all items in the room and if the item is taking including the magazine's you will be charged for them). The room was very heavily scented with an air fresher that you could smell before you entered the room. The bed was hard and the pillows were very soft even which made sleeping hard. The carpet was old and when you walked on it without shoe your socks get dirty. (yes, they were new sock!) When we checked out the next morning the boy at the desk was polite but just not happy either. Limited customer service skills for front desk operations. You would think that a small hotel would want to keep people coming back but it seemed they were just their to take the money. The only nice person was the housekeeper who was polite and helpful. I was not happy with $165.00 per night at this hotel and I could have gone to the Pecan Tree Inn and spent less and had much better customer service. Full disclosure, I've wanted to stay here for years. The location can't be beat, directly across from the marina & Shackelford Banks, walking "distance" to all of Beaufort. (I use the term "distance" lightly, as all of downtown Beaufort fits in 4 blocks.) Rates are reasonable for the location & amenities, Rooms are spacious! We stayed on the 2nd floor with amazing balcony views of the marina and the Shackelford ponies (yes! We saw ponies from the balcony!) There is a mini fridge/ freezer in the room. They brought breakfast (warm muffins, bagels, coffee, OJ) to the room. Staff we have spoken with have all been friendly & helpful. Wish we could stay longer! read more
