The Inlet Inn is a beautiful and bright hotel in downtown Beaufort. I came here for the long weekend. The weather turned sour, but that allowed me to relax and revive. I chose a third-floor double queen suite with a sitting area overlooking the water. The sitting area is perfect for the bookworm and the writer. The rain made for a cozy stay. The room is spacious and homestyle. I made use of the time and felt refreshed and satisfied. The hotel staff does a great job of cleaning the room between guests. The Inn did away with travel-size amenities and put locally made ones in their place. You can pick some up at the front desk if you want to bring home a piece of your stay.

What I learned about The Inlet Inn & why I loved it. The Inlet Inn is a small family-owned and operated waterfront hotel in downtown Beaufort's historic district. The Inn has great views of the harbour and from your own porch or patio, you can watch wild horses graze and apparently, you can see dolphins play. They have 36 rooms, large waterfront rooms with a king bed, sitting area with pull-out sofa and private balconies with rocking chairs are located on the first and second floors. A perfect spot for any guests to relax and enjoy the beautiful views and ocean breezes. I learned that six of their first-floor waterfront rooms have working fireplaces for the cooler shoulder seasons or a romantic evening. The third-floor rooms offer two queen beds, a dining table and chairs and a large bay window seat perfect for cuddling up with a book and watching the wild horses and traveling mariners. They also have a few west-facing non-waterfront rooms. One of which has a king bed and two twins and this is perfect for larger families. The Inlet Inn tradition is modeled after the British Colonial tradition and serves a continental breakfast with fresh brewed Jamaican "Blue Mountain" coffee, OJ, toasted bagels and warm muffins. And best of all, they [deliver] it straight to your room so you can lounge a bit longer in your pjs!. Breakfast can also be enjoyed in the third-floor Widow's Walk Lounge. The communal fourth Widow's Walk offers distant views of the Cape Lookout Lighthouse, Shackleford Island and the Atlantic Ocean. When it comes to parking, there's plenty of space on the property to park your car. The Inn is only a few steps from the waterfront and several great downtown dining locales and historic sites. Inlet Inn is definitely a place to refresh, revive and relax. I will be back!

Absolutely love this little Inn. We have always come Beautford to visit but decided to stay in town this time and I would stay here everytime! Super clean, close to everything, the hospitality is great and the views are perfect!

    Large and comfortable rooms.

Very nice rooms that are large and nicely decorated. It is really more like a luxury home than a hotel, and having a balcony overlooking the waterfrontis pretty sweet. This is a very nice hotel and likely the best place to stay in Beaufort.

We stayed at the Inlet Inn when the Ocracoke ferry was canceled due to high winds. It's a nice seaside hotel that's been tastefully updated. Beautiful balcony view of harbor and island beyond from the front rooms. Free breakfast was delivered to our room. We'd defiantly stay there again.

We had an awesome one night stay at the Inlet Inn. The views were amazing and the room had everything we needed. King size bed was comfortable. The balcony with the rocking chairs was my favorite spot! Breakfast is included and delivered to the room! We can't wait to come back and enjoy Beaufort again when the weather is warmer.

We booked a waterfront room and it was fabulous --bright, airy, great furnishings. The couch was more comfy than my home! ! We really appreciated the ceramic coffee mugs, Starbucks coffee, glass wine glasses, soft bedding/towels and comfy mattress, quality shampoo and lotions, fabulous room service breakfast (no extra charge). The third floor balcony was great for sunset over the water. Loved every minute of our stay.

Even though we arrived very late in the evening the innkeeper was friendly and gracious and welcomed us with lots of information and a well appointed room. We stayed in the master bedroom upstairs which features a lovely balcony with rocking chairs and a hammock! The queen sized bed was very comfortable and they were fresh flowers in the room. The bathroom was huge! We took full advantage of the boat size jetted tub. The only odd thing was taking a shower with no curtain or glass, she explained they were saving money for that very expensive feature. We had the standard breakfast that was more than enough to keep us going for a good long morning of activity. We started off with lots of fresh fruit and yogurt and granola, then ate homemade biscuits. Both mornings we had scrambled eggs and some kind of potato. One morning it was hashbrowns the next it was spicy potatoes. The first morning it was sausage and the next she served ham. Both were delicious. The inn provided us with a beach bag for our excursion containing Sunscreen, towels, and bags for collecting shells. That was a lovely touch. It sounded like she had a kayak available for guests as well. I might be wrong about that so double check. All in all a delightful stay. Just the kind of rest and relaxation we were looking for.

And yet, of all the places I have been, few can match the charm and service of this wonderful couple and this establishment. "Charming coastal" is indeed accurate as another reviewer noted, but so is kind and engaging. At least, that is how I found the host Kim, who is the hostess during your stay. The rooms are modest in size but well appointed and comfy with a wonderful balcony to enjoy a morning coffee and watch the city wake up. The highlight of each morning was the breakfast together. The breakfast is served at 9 sharp and is served with the other guests. It makes for not only a delicious breakfast, but Kim uses it as an opportunity to help direct, guide, and suggest places nearby that meet your interests. This is great as it means you get insider tips and ways to optimize your stay by taking the guesswork out--particularly when you have a small window for activities (we were only there for a few days). In the evenings, Kim hosts a happy hour which includes helping guests secure reservations and dinner plans settled before you go. This is not just a recommendation by Kim--she actively calls and secures the spots and confirms them with you. True concierge service! Setting aside the wonderful host and the rooms, the location is superb. We were there over the weekend, and there is a delightful Saturday market literally ACROSS the street filled with vendors of all varieties. Warming: it is easy to spend. ;) The entirety of the downtown is merely a block away with shops, restaurants, and bars galore along with the cruises, sports fishing, and recreation just a short walk down the road. Bottom line: I adored this place and have already recommended it to friends and family here in Durham (where we live) and beyond. If you can swing it (it is worth every penny) and want to give yourself or your partner a weekend to remember, I cannot more strongly recommend the Inn on Turner.

I had most of the town to myself, and the Anchorage House was no exception. The other weekend guests canceled and I had the place to myself, shared only by the innkeeper. The house is 1866 Greek Gothic revival and located just a couple of blocks from the historic waterfront. The location is perfect for walking all of the historic area and visiting local shops, restaurants, docks and catching the ferries to and from the surrounding islands. I couldn't enjoy the lovely porch due to the weather, but the inside of this B&B was simple, clean and cozy. I stayed in the Hemingway Room on the second floor. Very large bathroom and closet, queen bed, large wing backed arm chair, a portrait of Hemingway (of course), TV and a free standing heater that looks like a fireplace stove (this was my favorite part of the room and really made it all the more cozy). Since I was the only guest for the weekend the innkeeper was kind enough to make breakfast on my schedule - after 9am - because I am not an early riser. Breakfasts were plentiful and tasty and ranged between biscuits, bagels, cinnamon toast, eggs, waffles, blueberry pancakes, bacon and sausage. Accompanied by bottomless coffee, OJ and milk. Breakfast was also made complete by a 2 hour conversation on any number of varying topics with the innkeeper. The prices at this B&B can't be beat. And while the atmosphere is simple, it is cozy and more than worth what you pay. The innkeepers are looking at some big life changes and it is uncertain how much longer they will be running this spot. But in the meantime I will definitely recommend it to others and stay here again next time I'm in Beaufort if they are still around. The innkeeper was very friendly, welcoming and made me feel right at home for my 4 day stay.

Moreover, there is NO LOCK on door when you leave, which means anyone can walk into your room while you are not there. There is a chain lock on the door for when you are physically in the room, but that is it. There was also a giant hole in our wall that was covered by a spray-painted paper plate. As if that was not a deal breaker enough, we were standing out on the porch, and one of us got stung by a Yellowjacket after accidentally getting too close to their hive which we later discovered was under the rug by the door, in the wooden floorboards. The owner came out and sprayed so that we could safely go back inside. However, the next day the wasps were still there and we were told that there was "nothing they can do about it." The final nail in the coffin was the breakfast. We experienced 2 "Hallmark Breakfasts" and 1 "Continental". The Hallmark included fruit, waffle, eggs and 2 sausages. While this was quite good, it was not equal to an additional $60 for 2 people. The "Continental" was where we had the biggest problem - it was supposed to include (according to the website) "a generous selection of fresh fruits, several servings in size along with a basket of biscuits, muffins, toast or the like." We did receive a full plate of fruit but were given 1 small biscuit each and told there was nothing else. Also, when we asked for a glass of orange juice, the owner told us to "watch our sugar" since we also had the fruit. We felt that this was extremely inappropriate, hurtful, and left us feeling judged. Overall the tone was dismal, and every question or request was met with condemnation. If you are looking for hospitality in Beaufort, do not stay here.

An added convenience: a nearby charging station within easy walking distance, where we parked with ease. Our first interaction by phone set the tone for the stay. A gracious front desk associate, her name may have been Valencia or Veronica (not sure) handled our check-in and made us feel both welcomed and valued. Despite arriving slightly ahead of schedule, she graciously accommodated an early check-in, a gesture that immediately elevated the experience. The hotel itself strikes a thoughtful balance between modern refinement and coastal tradition. Natural light pours through the public spaces, lending the interiors an airy, relaxed elegance. Our room was impeccably clean and well appointed, but it was the bathroom and sweeping water views that truly stood out peaceful, restorative, and unmistakably coastal. There were occasional sounds from the hallway and a few muffled bumps from above, curious given our top-floor location, though none disrupted our rest. During the holiday bustle, we did experience a couple of unanswered calls to the front desk, but the otherwise attentive service and seasonal demands made this understandable. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the addition of an on-site ice-skating rink offers a charming, unexpected touch especially for families. Overall, The Beaufort Hotel delivers a refined yet approachable stay, and it's one we would gladly return to.

When I calmly asked whether I could speak with the housekeeper who cleaned the room, the general manager became very defensive and raised his voice, telling me, "I will NOT allow you to speak with my employees." I understand I should have called sooner, and I wasn't accusing anyone of anything -- I was simply trying to locate sentimental and valuable belongings. For a hotel of this caliber, especially one that hosts weddings and important family events, I expected more professionalism, empathy, and better lost-and-found procedures. I'm sharing this so future guests remember to double-check their rooms carefully before leaving.
