Poor housekeeping. Hotel under construction, dust everywhere. Mold in the tub and above the mirror. Sticky floors. We had 3 rooms for family, they also had the same problem. No response from their Manager, this was 3 days ago. Poorly run establishment. I have a ton of pictures I submitted to them direct. Not a response. Don't go..this was your warning

This location is definitely not as up to date as the Hampton Inn's I am used to. The decor is older, there is not any place to buy snacks/drinks, etc. even the lobby is very bland. However, the front desk attendant Tammy was the most professional and friendly hire clerks I have ever met. She was courteous to everyone, and she treat me to make sure everything was fine when I got to my room and also when I left. My room was average and it was a handicap capable room. I feel like it needs a total makeover but it was comfy. There was not a guide in the TV and it didn't have Netflix. I would stay here again because of the wonderful customer service more than anything.

Gary Curry the general manager is just terrible, the worst.... Our house was hit by a tornado last night, and our landlord was nice enough to get us a room here because our roof feel in and was very close to being seriously injured if not worse. About 1 foot away from a 400 pound beam. Anyways we come there for refuge and to recuperate, try to figure out our next step, getting a new place, or when we will be able to pick up our possessions from the house. We have barley any clothes no food. Nothing everything was soaking wet. So we get a good night's rest in the morning we head to the Contenintal breakfast. So Gary decides to easedrop on my phone conversation, when someone called me and told me that someone who attends Craven community College tested positive for COVID and that all classes were canceled for the week and to be continued to the next. Well my roommate eats his breakfast (dry pre-made omelets-which looked gross and old, the bagley he had was stale. The food looked disgusting.) Anyways I take a certain prescription Medication every morning and I have to be very careful about eating with the medication a certain time before and after. Well the hot food looked so nasty to me, I decided to grab 2 small yogurts 4 tiny peanut butter cups and 4 tiny jelly packs (the kind you get for free at any breakfast restaurant). Which I put in a little bag so I can bring to my room to try to eat with my medication. Gary Curry did the most embarrassing, rude, outrageous thing I have ever seen done by a hotel worker nonetheless the manager. He confronts me and ask me to come with him so I could talk with him. He walks me away from my roommate and then attacks me asking me if I had COVID and that he didn't want me around everyone spreading it. He looked like he was disgusted with me. For absolutely no reason. Discriminated on me because I probably looked kinda rough I mean our house just got tore down plus the fact that their water was not working all day and night due to construction so I've had no shower. Then when I told him that I did not have covid and he must have misheard my conversation. He then did not even apologize not at all and went straight back to attack mode telling me that I "cleaned them out" and that I can't bring food outside the dining area. Like I was stealing it or something. I then had to explain to him that I could not force myself to eat the nasty hot breakfast(,old egg and waffles) I could not eat that. The only thing my stomach can maybe handle is a yogurt and hopefully some peanut butter because I need to eat with the medication I take. We paid 160$ for the room a night, which I thought included continental breakfast. Which I could really care less about but this guy embarrassed me, harassed me and made me feel like a was a prisoner in a foreign country. I shouldn't have to explain myself about my medication and my own Private phone calls. Gary Curry completely ruined my stay, he is not cut out for this type of work. He's a miserable and complete opposite of hospitality, all of his employees were happy to give me his information so I could call his boss Sydney was very nice and helpful and the lady who worked the night before.

I arrived into New Bern, NC at 10am and, after dealing with my bags not arriving to New Bern with me, I checked in at noon. They were really accommodating, and checked me in immediately. Lots of smiles and good vibes from the four people I interacted with there all weekend: Kim was one. The room was spacious enough. I got a River facing King with a balcony and sofa chair. Standard decoration for hotels. I've stated at a lot of large hotels. They tend to be in their own decor bubble, unless the chain goes out of their way to break the cycle. Something comforting about that though, like coming back to something familiar no matter where you are on the planet. The bed was very comfortable. I slept extremely well. It rained all weekend mostly, so I didn't get to enjoy the backyard this go around. When it stopped raining on Sunday, I got a bit of drumming in on the gazebo jutting out on the river. That was very cool. Others seemed to take the opportunity afforded by the sunshine to enjoy the deck and the pool. The location of the hotel is great. Most of the larger places to stay in New Bern are located around the perimeter of town along the water. The only other options are the B&B's within town, but the amenities are quite different. The hotel doesn't have a "bar", but their is a cafe downstairs open during "business hours": food, coffees, alcohol, dessert. They also provide a minibar for snacks and drinks around the clock.

Not a, "I hope your travels went well", not "glad you selected us" not, "welcome to our Courtyard". More customer service training required. It happens that the room was ready. Unfortunately, this courtyard does not recognize Marriott Bonvoy status as typically you are thanked for being a member, gifted with a few bottles of water and an offer for a late checkout. None of this occurred. Yes, they did have my Marriott number as I reserved through my app. We stayed in room 319 where the tub would not drain well during a shower leaving about 3 inches of water when finished. Checked multiple times the drain was pulled open and it was. The housekeep failed to leave regular coffee in the room and we only had decaf. When I went to the desk to get a few bags in the morning the clerk was very kind and offered other items as well. The AC in the room was fantastic and the room was clean. The lobby area was also clean and had a glass of wine at the bar after returning from dinner and the bartender was also very kind. Location is great!

You get the Ziegler Hotel & Suites! I was working about 20 miles NE of New Bern, and was looking for options other than (a) the $100+/night hotel chains in New Bern or(b) a longer drive to Havelock for a room more in the company's acceptable expense range. Fortunately my internet search found the Zieglar, with rates at least $20/night less than the New Bern chains and comparable with Havelock rates. I stayed in the 1940.s themed room. Frank Sinatra photos and album covers are featured on the walls, along with other 1940's stars from radio, movies, and sports. Other rooms have as themes the 1950's, 1960's, Elvis & Marilyn Monroe, and even a Goth inspired room. Here's was impressed me. The room had all of the modern conveniences (hdtv, microwave, small refrigerator) but also included a DVD player with several movies in the room, and about eight books. I opened the drawer of the writing table and found a 1940's edition of LIFE magazine. The bed was comfortable with sheets having a colorful design - not your typical white hotel sheets. The towels and other linens were a higher quality than what you would find at most hotels. The heat/AC unit was a newer remote control design, and along with the ceiling fan kept the room comfortable on hot humid summer days. If I were looking for a comfortable quiet place where I want to indulge in a good book or two for a few days I would definitely suggest the Ziegler. Don't think it would be a good choice for a family on vacation on the business person needing a place for business meetings, But - if you want a quiet place that isn't your run of the mill lodging room and at a reasonable price - give 'em a try!

This is an e-boutique hotel. You will receive a code prior to your stay that opens the building and your guestroom doors. Assistance is only a text away, but I didn't need anything during my stay. The rooms are gorgeous, with designer furnishings and accents in soft blues and grays. It's elegant, yet also very comfortable with a supremely luxurious bed and two nice chairs making a reading nook. The bathroom has large floor space, thought the shower is a bit small. There's no closet per se, but there's a rack with plenty of hangers and shelving above, plus drawers in the bedroom for storage. I paid the small extra amount to book one of the rooms with a balcony. I would recommend going that route, as the balcony rooms are on the side of the building away from Front St. and facing toward the river and the sunset view. The balconies themselves are large, with a side table and two chairs that are comfortable for enjoying the view. Location is prime, and just about anything you're here to do will be within walking distance. Tryon Palace is just a few blocks down, and the main shopping and dining streets are even closer. The riverfront is just across a parking lot. There is on-site parking at The Harvey, with one space for each room. It's easy to access, and directly adjacent to the building. There are no elevators or bell staff to assist with bags, so there are considerable stairs involved unless you're on the ground floor. (There are three floors of guest accommodations.) Everything here is fresh and new and in impeccable shape, and there are many historic photographs the Harvey building and the New Bern area in the hallways and on the landings, but from the inside you would never guess the structure is well over 200 years old. My only frustration was with the TV, which is one of those things where I can never find "normal" channels -- for instance, I could not locate the Monday Night Football game on it. But maybe you're better with technology than I am. Otherwise, this was a terrific option and I wouldn't really consider anywhere else if returning to New Bern.

Yet, I was calm and patient as I waited for the clerk to return to the counter for my check-in. The room was clean, and dishes provided during my stay for the week. However, I noticed that the bed was a standard and not the queen that I had booked for my visit. Still, I wasn't overly concerned, but it might be an issue for a couple that specifically requests a queen-size bed. I even looked at my confirmation email, and it read, QN, which is a queen. FYI, a Queen is larger than a Standard. Oh yeah, no shower gel either. See photo. Luckily, I brought soap with me. Nevertheless, housekeepers shouldn't be overlooking the obvious. Hard to overlook an empty bottle. Next, I was informed that Candlewood Suites doesn't offer breakfast, which is fine since the room had a stovetop. Also, I thought I saw a sign that read, NO PETS. Well, I stayed on the second floor, and some lady across from me had one Weimaraner and a spotted German Shorthaired Pointer. Definitely, not small or medium size dogs, and I guess she snuck them into the hotel, which probably isn't difficult since they only have one person on staff at the front desk. Since I am deaf, I only noticed them because they were jumping on her as soon as she opened the door to her room. I cannot tell you if they barked all night or not. Sorry, I didn't get a photo of the dogs, but most hotels will place anyone with a dog on the first floor. Finally, as I loaded up my vehicle at 3 AM, there was no clerk in view. I made three trips to the room to make sure I wasn't leaving anything behind. On a side note, Harris Teeter grocery is right around the corner from this hotel, which was a nice plus, and there is a Panda Express directly in front of the hotel in the parking lot.

There's no way I would've ever stayed there again but apparently this is the way they deal with complaints so do yourself a favor and just keep looking elsewhere. We booked for 2 nights for our family reunion and have stayed here multiple times in the past with no problems whatsoever. Well, they must be under new management because they have gone way downhill. The first room we were assigned had a broken AC unit. Maintenance was supposed to come fix it but never did. The room smelled horrible like mildew and multiple stains on the carpet (I'd be willing to bet this hotel has been flooded but not repaired). We were eventually moved to another room only to discover that the door didn't fully lock. We had to use the latch to even feel somewhat secure. Other family members stayed in other rooms in the hotel and they had similar issues with rooms in poor condition. These rooms need some SERIOUS repairs and some TLC. It's UNETHICAL to keep collecting money for rooms that you KNOW are not up to par! Also, someone kept propping open the back door with a rock. I moved it several times and it seems like this is a common practice because no one else seemed concerned, yet it is extremely UNSAFE for obvious reasons. We also noticed that some of the staff brought their young children to work with them. I know times are hard but this is unsafe and likely an OSHA violation. So many disappointments. It felt like we were staying at a Motel 6 or Super 8. This is not the Comfort Suites that we had grown to love over the years and certainly not what I paid for or expected. It is obvious that there has been a change in management and/or ownership since the last time we stayed there and no one seems to care that they are ruining the Comfort Suites brand. We will NOT be staying again.

One in the bedroom we slept in has red sticky substance that obviously was a spill. - housekeeping fees paid for what? - noticed two red spills on carpet in living room. We rubbed it just to see and just where we rubbed you can see just how filthy the carpet is. - dishes put up - dirty - pots oldddddd - refrigerator shelf on door broken - dresser/chest in master bedroom OLD and broken - took glassware out to cook and it was dirty.
