As a Hilton Diamond member, I found this property somewhat disappointing given the nightly rate of over $200. The hotel appears to have been recently updated, and the renovations are appreciated. However, the guest rooms are quite small, and housekeeping is only provided every other day. At this price point, I would expect daily housekeeping service as a standard amenity. My biggest concern was the pool area. While the water itself was clear, there was visible mold and organic growth around the interior surfaces of the pool, giving the impression that routine professional pool maintenance is not being performed. This significantly detracted from the overall guest experience. The complimentary breakfast was mediocre at best, which unfortunately has become increasingly common across the Hampton Inn brand. The offerings felt heavily processed, particularly the omelets, and there were few healthier alternatives available. Even simple items such as hard-boiled eggs were absent. The chicken sausage was also an unusual choice that seemed out of touch with the preferences of many guests. Overall, the hotel met my basic lodging needs, but it fell short of the expectations associated with both the Hampton Inn brand and its price point. With greater attention to maintenance, housekeeping, and breakfast quality, ownership and management could significantly improve the guest experience. read more

This place is an active construction site. The workers start early in the morning, so if your flight got delayed and you got in late and slightly jet lagged, you can forget about sleeping in. There is not adequate parking because they have taken up most of the lot with storage containers and heavy machinery (although the VIP parking spaces are not blocked, just not available for you unless you're whatever status). There is no place to fill up a water bottle because they were installing the new fountain (see the exposed wiring in the picture). The fitness center is covered with construction materials, so there's no way to use that. If you had hoped to use the conference room, that's also filled with construction materials, but don't worry, they didn't put a "Do Not Enter" sign, so come on in I guess. There was no one at the front desk for most of the day, which left one of our group waiting for over 15 minutes to check in. Breakfast starts at 6, but the day we left (a Sunday) there was no coffee. I waiting until 6:20 before giving up on that. There is coffee in the room (enough for one person, not two), and they give you a bottle of water when you check in. Look, I understand that the place wants to stay open while doing renovations. Can't let the stockholders take a loss, amirite? But for the SUBSTANTIAL cost of the room, one would expect the amenities that are advertised to be available, or at least to not have to park at the hotel next door and walk across the grass. I woke up in my own bed 1 1/2 weeks after staying in Hiltin Hampton Inn New Bern, NC property with a nightmare from my stay at the hotel. Please improve your fire alarm system to properly wake all guests, practice drills have a plan, communication amongst employees about emergency resposes, update protcol procedures for emergencies. Awakened at ~7ish am on a Saturday morning after a night of partinging I heard the faint fire alarms sounding in the hallway outside my door. I woke up my friend, get dressed, let's go, grabbed my purse at the ready (because I'm a Boy Scout), and made our way down the stairs to the lobby. I was asked by a fellow hotel guest mingling near fresh air why they couldn't just turn off the alarm because burnt toast is no emergency. The alarms were turned off by staff. I walked out the front doors to hear fire trucks approaching. I think my response to the drill was record time. The smell and sight of smoke was gagging. I walked back in the building ahead of fire crews just to check out our service personel (hey I'm old and female). Not funny, but a possibly serious siruation. I took a picture as the response team set up fans to blow outside air into the hotel lobby. My thoughts were open a back enterance and blow the air from the lobby out the front door creating a breeze to evacuate the smoky air. But hey... my dreams are not reality. The firemen finished their job quickly and logged out a book at the managers desk. My friend asked me how I knew what to do so quickly, alert level, and rradiness I had acted. My response... well you can never be complacent. Safety first. Actually, I have had this happen in a variety of hotels. However, Sheraton handled it best. Lights and sound blared in the rooms waking me very starled and grabbing my friend's hand in pitch darkness of the night. We made it down stairs in our jammies and robes, the fire department signalled the all clear and over a loud speaker through the hotel came management stating "All Clear". My dream left me thinking Hampton never gave the all clear, nor did they phone call my room to state the "All Clear". My dream prompted terror and bewilderment and questioned my wanting to ever stay in a Hilton property. The level of safety seemed less than my own home's capabilities. My friend would have kept sleeping through the Hampton alarms. This disturbed me greatly. read more

It all started with a defective smoke detector, that would randommy chirp. The manager Cassandra took it upon herself to help me and make it right. Her hospitality and care will bring me back to any Hampton Inn by hilton on its own. We recently stayed at this newly renovated hotel, and overall had a great experience. We did run into a small maintenance issue, but Nick went above and beyond to help resolve it quickly. His professionalism and kindness really made a difference and helped keep our stay comfortable and stress‑free. The location was perfect for us--close and convenient to a doctor's appointment we had in the area since we live out of town. Front desk staff are as accommodating as possible under the circumstances, Tracy even got up on the desk to try to hang a mattress pad on the window bc the heavier privacy shade was broken. I'd say that was above and beyond. It fell down when I went to adjust the A/C later (also not working quite right with the fan settings) but she tried. Lisa gave me pillows that were more comfortable for my cervical spine issues when I said the ones in the second room were not comfortable. These are good front desk ppl who try to accommodate a guest if possible. There were 2 small roaches in the bathroom but no bug spray available. There is confusion when you request a handicap accessible room. Most ppl mean a bodily handicap that requires a higher toilet and extra shower bar. But they assumed it was an auditory handicap. Perhaps it was a miscommunication. Yes, there are renovations going on, which I was told limited the amount of rooms available, but from other reviews these renovations have been going on for a long time and you don't really know that until you arrive. My first room was ok except for the low toilet. The second room had a higher toilet but other things are problematic. The rugs in both rooms look dingy and in need of a good cleaning or total replacement. The breakfast is fine, though the appetite wanes once you've seen a roach in your room. Booked here for several nights, which is unfortunate. I've been to some good Hampton Inns, but unfortunately this doesn't seem to be one of them. read more

This location is definitely not as up to date as the Hampton Inn's I am used to. The decor is older, there is not any place to buy snacks/drinks, etc. even the lobby is very bland. However, the front desk attendant Tammy was the most professional and friendly hire clerks I have ever met. She was courteous to everyone, and she treat me to make sure everything was fine when I got to my room and also when I left. My room was average and it was a handicap capable room. I feel like it needs a total makeover but it was comfy. There was not a guide in the TV and it didn't have Netflix. I would stay here again because of the wonderful customer service more than anything. read more

Gary Curry the general manager is just terrible, the worst.... Our house was hit by a tornado last night, and our landlord was nice enough to get us a room here because our roof feel in and was very close to being seriously injured if not worse. About 1 foot away from a 400 pound beam. Anyways we come there for refuge and to recuperate, try to figure out our next step, getting a new place, or when we will be able to pick up our possessions from the house. We have barley any clothes no food. Nothing everything was soaking wet. So we get a good night's rest in the morning we head to the Contenintal breakfast. So Gary decides to easedrop on my phone conversation, when someone called me and told me that someone who attends Craven community College tested positive for COVID and that all classes were canceled for the week and to be continued to the next. Well my roommate eats his breakfast (dry pre-made omelets-which looked gross and old, the bagley he had was stale. The food looked disgusting.) Anyways I take a certain prescription Medication every morning and I have to be very careful about eating with the medication a certain time before and after. Well the hot food looked so nasty to me, I decided to grab 2 small yogurts 4 tiny peanut butter cups and 4 tiny jelly packs (the kind you get for free at any breakfast restaurant). Which I put in a little bag so I can bring to my room to try to eat with my medication. Gary Curry did the most embarrassing, rude, outrageous thing I have ever seen done by a hotel worker nonetheless the manager. He confronts me and ask me to come with him so I could talk with him. He walks me away from my roommate and then attacks me asking me if I had COVID and that he didn't want me around everyone spreading it. He looked like he was disgusted with me. For absolutely no reason. Discriminated on me because I probably looked kinda rough I mean our house just got tore down plus the fact that their water was not working all day and night due to construction so I've had no shower. Then when I told him that I did not have covid and he must have misheard my conversation. He then did not even apologize not at all and went straight back to attack mode telling me that I "cleaned them out" and that I can't bring food outside the dining area. Like I was stealing it or something. I then had to explain to him that I could not force myself to eat the nasty hot breakfast(,old egg and waffles) I could not eat that. The only thing my stomach can maybe handle is a yogurt and hopefully some peanut butter because I need to eat with the medication I take. We paid 160$ for the room a night, which I thought included continental breakfast. Which I could really care less about but this guy embarrassed me, harassed me and made me feel like a was a prisoner in a foreign country. I shouldn't have to explain myself about my medication and my own Private phone calls. Gary Curry completely ruined my stay, he is not cut out for this type of work. He's a miserable and complete opposite of hospitality, all of his employees were happy to give me his information so I could call his boss Sydney was very nice and helpful and the lady who worked the night before. read more

Fine enough hotel during our stay. We stayed at the Hampton Inn in New Bern NC for a wedding. They actually had a pretty good breakfast and front desk staff seemed friendly. But if you stay here BEWARE!! Photograph and video everything in the entire room as soon as you get there and when you leave. We were charged $847 for a broken TV and tiny dent in the wall. We didn't even turn on the TV or look at it. There is no way that we caused this since we literally went straight to bed when we got in after the wedding. But we have no proof so we had no other option but to pay. We were told by management that they had documentation proving it and that was that. I'll never be giving my money to a Hampton Inn again, and I'm going to be videoing everything at any other hotel I ever stay in. read more

As for breakfast, they say it's from 6am to 10am, but at 6:15 there were still no hot items as advertised on the bar. If you have to get going early forget about getting a decent breakfast here. The staff here are friendly and welcoming. They deserve a 5/5. The hotel however needs some updates. It's definitely older and more run down. Some updates would be necessary to make it feel more on brand. I did a thorough inspection around the bed to check for bed bugs and found a huge stain on the mattress cover. I work as an engineer and travel quite a bit. I have to say this is one of the beat Hampton inns I have ever stayed in. Its clean, cozy, and the staff is unbelievably helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend staying here! They also have an awesome program for diamond members.....if they draw your name, to u get breakfast delivered to you in your room along with a welcome package! Hooray for another great Hilton property! I'm pretty nitpicky when it comes to hotels, but I really can't think of a single thing I don't like about this Hampton. The lobby and breakfast area are quite nice, with many hot breakfast options every day and free, good coffee available 24 hours a day. Every staff member I've encountered has been quite charming and polite, most of them addressing me by name. The hotel has a pretty nice outdoor pool and the grounds are manicured nicely (I marveled at the incredibly straight edging done on the lawn...I know, I'm a nerd). The rooms are a good size, I had a king room with a desk and a couch. Amenities include an LCD TV, very capable A/C unit, free wireless internet, and for those who are stuck in 2001 like me, wired adapters can be obtained at the front desk for free. The coffee available in-room is pretty good. The crowning jewel of the room is the glorious Hilton bed and pillows. I seriously want to buy the bed I slept in last night and ship it back home, it was so comfortable. The bathrooms are nice and large with great shower heads and loads of hot water. There is even a fully-functioning ventilation fan! Those who know me know there is little more I hate that a bathroom with no fan. I don't like to sit in a sauna after taking a shower. All in all, one of my favorite hotel stays in a while! read more

We came here for a lovely weekend getaway the weekend after Valentine's Day. The weather was cold outside, but this hotel was really nice, warm, and cozy. It's just over the bridge away from historic New Bern, but close enough for us and had great service for great prices. Our room was spacious with a large king-size bed, a couch, a desk, large TV, and plenty of room. We enjoyed the continental breakfast Saturday morning before lounging about and heading out to explore. Later on the free WiFi was helpful as I had to do some of my graduate coursework. My companion should have taken advantage of the gym downstairs while I was in analysis mode, but the room was a nice place to relax and hard to leave.... We'd definitely stay here next time we visit New Bern which hopefully will have warmer weather for us next time. Another perk that we appreciated: They have a military discount. read more

Business stay in New Bern Had a 1 night visit and the staff at the Hampton Inn were really nice. From the time I was greeted at the front desk until I left I felt welcomed. As I checked in the lady working the front desk helped me with directions downtown and took the time to explain every detail on staying this evening. They even had a customer appreciation dinner. I expected meatballs and wings but actually we had drinks and a full home cooked meal catered by The Flames caterers. The hotel is clean and nicely maintained. It took me about 5-10 minutes to get to town. The location is convenient with lots of restaurants within walking distance. I definitely felt welcome. I will return. read more

It was a nice stay, the hotel has some things that needs updated. The elevator needs work, got stuck once. When my room was cleaned one day all that was done was the towels and trash taken. Nothing was replaced, so I called the Front Desk and they got the items I needed. Good Customer service and I would stay again. read more

The staff here is second to none. I have NEVER had such great customer service anywhere-- not even in a 5 Star hotel. Our A/C broke in the middle of the night. How nice is this place? The staff, the service- just wow! They have a "guest of the day" program, where a guest is appreciated by getting the prime parking space up front and gets their name on the front sign- how adorably sweet! Also- during our stay, there was a guest appreciation reception with sweets and drinks in the afternoon. They really appreciate their patrons, and it shows! This was a nice hotel with clean rooms and a good breakfast. It was convenient to the downtown area and to the local Wal-Mart if you forgot anything while on vacation. They also gave me a coupon for Persimmons restaurant which came in handy later that night for dinner. read more

We recently stayed at the Hampton Inn in New Bern due to the death of a family member. We traveled from ma. And my son from Afghanistan to be there for my beautiful grand daughter. Without a doubt this Hotel is the best by far that I've ever stayed in. I am a disabled veteran and have a few problems and trips and places I'm not accustom to are very,very difficult for me. From the time you walk in the door they treat you like you are just extra special and throughly appreciate your business. There are a few people I want to mention for their exceptional help and assistance. Ms DELARINA was just the kindest, caring and compassionate person I've had the pleasure of meeting. She personally went out of her way to assist me in the breakfast area and I just can't say enough about what an asset she is to the Hotel. Also Ron,Gary and a very sweet lady that checked me in what a caring person she is. She went out of her way to help me also. This particular morning the computer was having a problem and she still let me eat breakfast and check in to my room. Her name is Felecia but what a terrific caring lady she is. When you have such nice genuine people such as this it's a wonderful relief when they treat you just like family. I truly appreciate everything they did for me. The hallway to my room 105 smelled of Air pit the 2 days I stayed their and the Employees did not notice the smell. The Desk clerk and one his non-employees were having sleeping over in the lobby when I went to check out on the 18th of November 2015. I called on the 19 of November around 8:00 pm I called eight times to get billing information and the phone rang each time for 2 minutes and I was immediately put on hold. I was also hung up on a few times from the employees who did not want to answer the phone. The district manager needs to take action on this facility. I will not stay here again. read more
