More like DISComfort Suites! The image I'm sharing is an email sent to me in response to the feedback I submitted to corporate rating my stay. Unbelievable. There's no way I would've ever stayed there again but apparently this is the way they deal with complaints so do yourself a favor and just keep looking elsewhere. We booked for 2 nights for our family reunion and have stayed here multiple times in the past with no problems whatsoever. Well, they must be under new management because they have gone way downhill. The first room we were assigned had a broken AC unit. Maintenance was supposed to come fix it but never did. The room smelled horrible like mildew and multiple stains on the carpet (I'd be willing to bet this hotel has been flooded but not repaired). We were eventually moved to another room only to discover that the door didn't fully lock. We had to use the latch to even feel somewhat secure. Other family members stayed in other rooms in the hotel and they had similar issues with rooms in poor condition. These rooms need some SERIOUS repairs and some TLC. It's UNETHICAL to keep collecting money for rooms that you KNOW are not up to par! Also, someone kept propping open the back door with a rock. I moved it several times and it seems like this is a common practice because no one else seemed concerned, yet it is extremely UNSAFE for obvious reasons. We also noticed that some of the staff brought their young children to work with them. I know times are hard but this is unsafe and likely an OSHA violation. So many disappointments. It felt like we were staying at a Motel 6 or Super 8. This is not the Comfort Suites that we had grown to love over the years and certainly not what I paid for or expected. It is obvious that there has been a change in management and/or ownership since the last time we stayed there and no one seems to care that they are ruining the Comfort Suites brand. Booked a room for two adults online for one night. We have a ESA registered dog and when we presented the paperwork to the lady at the front desk she said she had to call her manager. She denied us the room after only a couple of minutes to step around the back of the room to "call" her manager. Gave us no explanation and just said her manager said we couldn't stay. I would recommend the BridgePoint hotel. They where super friendly and accepted our pet. I understand if we have to pay a charge but just to deny us with no explanation not good customer service. read more

Booked a suite. Stayed here a couple of years ago and it was nicer. Checkin was fine but she never asked if we were Choice members so didn't get the extra points or freebies. There used to be a hot tub, now it's filled in. Pool room is hot and no ac, we had to prop up the exit door for circulation. The room stunk. Like those weird cleaners when there's pet odors. My husband thought there was some sort of water issue and it was the carpets that stunk. There was a stain on the bathroom door that made it look like the place had flooded at some point. Based on other reviewers pics--I'm guessing it did. If you have issues with smells, run! I'm pretty sure my coughing and drainage at night was from mold or something in that room. There was dirt and a dead bug in bathroom. Dust and dirt in bathroom cubbies. Sticky spot on carpet. Side light had no light bulb. The fabric thing they lay across the end of the bed had a large spot that was hardened by something that had spilled on it. It was put back on the bed when they "cleaned". We had 2 adults and two kids checking into a king with couch bed. The room had 5 small pillows and no bedding for the couch. We unrolled it to find dirt and crumbs on the bed and a dirty looking bed. Fridge had a freezer that was half frozen over. They "clean" every third day. This means fresh towels, take trash and make bed. The bugs and dirt stay. That "full hot breakfast" is a waffle maker but no batter. Coffee, tea, frozen breakfast sandwiches, crappy quality muffins and nutragrain bars. Extremely disappointing. Next trip to the area we'll find a cleaner hotel that doesn't stink. read more

Roaches, mold, rust, chipped paint, beds that sink right in the middle, and mediocre staff can all be yours for over $200 a night! Ripoff!! Disgusting rooms! Filthy as could be. I felt guilty making my 5 year old sleep in there. Just caked on filth everywhere so it wasn't just a one time cleaning issue. This is how that place was meant to be. It's one of those super old hotels that they've slapped a coat of paint over the filth and dilapidated structure rather than rip it out and do a real remodel. As soon as you walk in you can literally smell the dankness of the place and you already know you've stepped in it. If you have any self respect, find somewhere else to stay at all costs. read more

We checked in and right away noticed that our room had not been cleaned. We went to the front desk to ask for the manager but they said that the manager was not in and said the next day they would be in at some point. The next day I asked for a manager again they said that the manager has not been in yet and does not know when the manager will be there but would send the manager to our room as soon as they got there. A manager never contacted us nor did anyone else. Staff there are not friendly at all and never once greeted us or apologized for anything. This place is absolutely disgusting!! They were installing new carpet when we got there so we decided to go out to eat and come in later. We came in after dark and watched tv for about an hour and went to bed. We got up in the morning and I was in the bathroom with the door open. I noticed a bug on the wall. With further investigation I realized it was a roach. My husband smashed it onto the wall. I decided I was getting a shower and leaving. I wasn't eating breakfast there. The shower ceiling and wall was covered with mold. I called my husband in to show him the mold when he told me he had just killed a baby roach. read more

After a long exhausting day of work and travel, I was really looking forward to getting to my room to rest. Walking into the hotel, I noticed trash on the ground in the entry way which is never a good sign. The hotel physically appeared to be a newer updated hotel. We booked for two nights through Priceline and thought we were getting a great deal. Well, we enter the lobby to check in and there is no one behind the desk, only a hand written note saying they'll be back. Once we finally check in after waiting several minutes for someone to return, we enter our room. The room smelled musty which was surprising because the hotel looked newer. I ignore it and get ready for bed. Again I'm exhaust bed and finally lay down... (my husband is already asleep) I notice that I smell a faint scent of urine. Now I'm hoping and telling myself it's in my head and try to go to sleep. I wake up in the morning exhausted and decide to just get ready and start my day. I go to take a shower and notice there is mildew and mold built up in the cracks and the bottom of the tub is filthy. I cringe but get in to shower, the water drains very slow and now I'm standing in a filthy tub with standing water. As I'm getting ready, I noticed there was just plain filth and grime pooled under the sink and around the cracks of the bathroom door. I call the front desk to cancel my second night and they tell me Because I booked through Priceline they wouldn't refund the money for the unused portion. As I'm on the phone I notice the phone had filth built up in all the cracks. There was also a ball of black hair in my sheets which certainly did not belong to my husband nor I. By the way, the phone is on the nightstand next to the bed and I noticed the urine smell was back... hmm definitely not in my head! Needless to say the clerk at the front desk was unapologetic and unsympathetic and told me if I wasn't happy I should just leave and hung up on me. I did just that but I warn you do not stay here if you care about a clean place to sleep! read more

I can't quite bring myself to give more than 3 stars to this hotel. There are several PROs to this facility, but also several CONs. So 3 stars is all I can assess. PROs: - Military discount made this one of the best value in New Bern. The selection is not high in this little costal town and from what I saw online this seemed the best deal at $98 a night. - Newly remodeled this hotel looks like it belongs into the 21st century and has a nice modern look an feel - Private lot, outside of town. Area has tons of restaurants options accessible by walking (mostly chains). - Hotel has an indoor pool and small gym and even a convention room. - Hotel offers breakfast with MANY items to select from both hot and cold. The young lady that works breakfast is very nice, friendly and a hard worker. - The beds and bed linens were super comfortable (although there were some stains on the comforter. Sheets were clean though). - Many towels were provided in the room, so the fact that they only change linens for stays longer than 3 days was not a deterrent. CONs: - Room cleanliness left to be desired. I walked barefooted on the carpet and my feet got covered in sand. The toilet was not properly scrubbed and neither was the sink overflow. This is a large enough hole that it's easy to reach for cleaning so that should not be a problem. - AC units don't work properly making the room stuffy and smelling stale even though the units are on all day. - Mold is a big issue in this facility. The bathroom do not have fans that automatically turn on when the lights are on, so I suppose the steam from showering is the culprit for all the mold on the ceiling and rust on the light fixture. It was a bit scary to see what conditions this hotel is in after being renovated only recently. - Moss is covering the outside of the window panes making it nearly impossible to look outside one's window. Time to call a window cleaning crew. - Hotel is in a bit of disrepair. Our remote did not work, so we had to manually use our TV for our stay. The volume would not work at all so we were stuck with the previous visitor's settings for that as well. The sink in the bathroom was cracked and the pool/spa area was not as fresh and clean as one would hope for. Also the hot tub was so hot that one could not sit in it for longer than 5 minutes straight. The pool's temperature was on the cold side, so switching from one to the other felt a bit like playing Norwegian sauna. - Staff friendliness is a total hit or miss here. Some personnel is as friendly as could be, smiles, friendly attitude and willingness to really help. Others are frowning all the time, short and seem to resent your stay. Not sure what that is all about. All in all, compared to other hotels in the area, I still feel like it's a good value for the cost but I wished there was more pride of ownership in this facility as it could definitely be a great place! read more

This is going to be a very mixed review. The location is in a very strange place. You have to drive through a Waffle House parking lot to get to it. However, it is remodeled on the outside and looks nice. They are remodeling right now so it is hard to give a legitimate review. So, I will start with my room. I had a king suite with hot tub. I was so impressed! The pricing was so reasonable!! The bed was fantastic, the hot tub was the best thing since sliced bread. They also have nighttime teas and morning teas in the room. They give you two free bottled waters In the room and two tv's. I didn't like that is was Direct tv because it wasn't very user friendly. The room was very clean. Customer service was average. Breakfast was average. There were a lot of outlets to use and restaurants near by. Downtown New Bern is very close. Personally, I think the room I had (Room 201) could not be beat for the price. They DID start remodeling early in the morning and it was SO annoying. In the lobby I could barely hear. But, I guess that is the price you pay for quality. read more

So I'm not sure how many of my Yelp friends or local followers would ever go to New Bern, NC but I had such a great experience that I had to Yelp it. It's only a 5-10 minute walk from the New Bern Airport but you can still call them for their shuttle. I arrived late, around 9pm and the front desk gal said their "driver" was gone for the night. I found out later that the driver was the hotel manager stepping in for the actual driver who was on vacation. I also found out that the manager lives just behind the hotel. Having managed some projects in my past, I can understand being a supervisor on-call 24/7; so no big deal... I walked. Checking in, I meet a member of my group at the front desk who asks them about a local big store for which he could get basic camping supplies. Front desk lady states there is a Wal-Mart 10 miles down the road. My buddy asks her to call a cab... she instead has one of the night janitors bring her PERSONAL CAR around for him to borrow!!! When she saw our surprise to her foolish generosity, she simply said, "It's no big deal. Just a taste of Southern Hospitality!" I'm sure what she meant was that if we did anything with her car, she'd have the local Sheriff and Marines hunt us down like international fugitives. The big 5 stars really comes from the room. For it being a Best Western Plus, rooms are clean, my bed was comfy and amenities that don't usually come at the price: free wi-fi, 30" flat screen, iHome alarm dock, cold as heck AC, decent toiletry supplies, blow dryer, iron, and 2 electrical plugs in every lamp. My room with 2 queen beds had enough room for a comfy chair with ottoman (wish there was a recliner). Shared amenities include small pool and hot tub (indoors), fitness center, outdoor BBQ and continental breakfast (watery powdered eggs but at least the do-it-yourself waffles were there). Oh yeah, the card reader for the rooms are also just by waving your card key, instead of the once-twice-thrice action of the traditional magnetic card key. This was a very nice motel. The room looked like it was recently renovated. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was definitley above average for this chain. They had bacon, scrambled eggs, hard-boiled eggs (already de-shelled), cereal, waffles, etc. The pool/hot tub was nice as well. One star off for the fact that there were no pool towels available in the pool area and when they came and gave us towels, they only brought 3 (plenty of other guests coming in after us with the same issue). That being said, we would definitely stay here again. read more

I've seen this in other reviews; we booked a king suite with a spa bath which isn't cleaned apparently at all. The majority of the room was acceptable although the bureau had a bottom drawer which was obviously not functionally properly before we even checked in. It wouldn't close. As for the spa bath, the first three times we filled the tub and turned it on, lots of black crap came out of the jets. The fourth time, the jets were clean so I decided to take a dip. This was fine because the jets didn't shoot anything gross (having been flushed by me), but I did notice a distinct scum ring which makes me think the room either isn't cleaned often or isn't booked enough to warrant attention to cleanliness. I enjoy the location, it works for my needs. It's close to a Food Lion and a great restaurant, Carolina Grill. Unfortunately, the staff seems to be less than eager to do their job. We booked for four nights and bought alcohol, so buying limes for drinks I decided to cut them on a towel instead of directly on the bathroom counter. This seemed to piss off housekeeping, because even though we didn't ask for our room to be turned over it was (I mean the bed was made and not much else) and we were left with a note saying we needed to get more towels from downstairs. It's lime, it's food. If your washers can't get out lime juice from a towel you need better washers. One thing I found very odd was that the continental breakfast ends at 9 unless it's the weekend. That's new to me. We were on the opposite end of the hotel from the neighbor with the roosters and birds that make a lot of noise 24/7. I dealt with that last time, so it was nice to not put up with that. Although it's a clean and reasonable hotel, I will choose somewhere else to stay the next time I'm near New Bern. This was my 4th time staying, but also my last. read more

My family and I have stayed here two nights this weekend. Rooms are clean, hotel has a nice clean smell as well. Super friendly front desk staff. The reason I'm only giving three stars is because the house keeping staff is lacking severely. They didn't show up to clean our room so we had to go down to the front desk twice to get more towels, trash bags and toilet paper. We had to ask for a clean comforter for one of our beds because one appeared to have a blood stain. This hotel has many amenities however they are currently closed to follow local health guidelines during the coronavirus outbreak our county is experiencing. Another reason I'm giving three stars is because of the hotels location, not exactly is the best part of town. However online it appears to be right next to the water when reality it's located behind a Ruby Tuesday and a dingy gas station. Will I return? More than likely no. read more

I'll start by saying the property appears nice. The cleanliness level is acceptable but there's a few areas that could improve. On entry into the room I killed two bugs on the bathroom floor. Not a game changer but still unpleasant. The air conditioning was running on arrival but never really cooled the room down. It also made a popping and clicking noise most of the night. These combined may only warrant a single star being lost. The reason I only gave two stars and nearly only one is security. I'm glad I have a habit of checking to make sure doors lock when they should. When I went to leave for supper I noticed my door only seemed to lock. However it could be pushed open without turning the knob. I went to the front desk where I was informed this was a common issue and the attendant happily came to show me the "trick" to locking the door. The trick turned out to be heaving the door upward as hard as possible. She blamed the issue on sagging hinges. I am a stout guy and grew quite tired of having to brute force the door to close. I would stay here again if the doors were fixed to give me peace of mind. Otherwise I believe I would find another hotel. read more

Just stayed here for Bike MS. Was what I expected for what was paid. No frills. We used the pull out to sleep on; there was a large brown stain on it. My big beef with this hotel was that they charged us for another night, saying that we were not checked out at 11:00. We were completely out of the hotel by 7:30 on that Sunday and did not come back. They told us that when housekeeping came in, there were belongings left and the room was not checked out of. When we inquired as to what was left, they refused to tell us. Over several calls, we tried to resolve or get any more info regarding what was left and we got nowhere. I was flabbergasted by the rudeness of the people that we spoke with. We were told that we should have returned our key cards at the end of the stay.....what hotel requires that? Stay away, stay away! read more

We have stayed here before and enjoyed our stay. However, we checked in on February 13 and found our room had no hot water. We were moved to another room with again no hot water. The poorly trained front desk staff made the situation worse. We left without staying and I have tried multiple times to reach the general manager who doesn't seem to be in ever. My valentine's weekend was ruined and I have not been able to resolve the issue with anyone. Very disappointing. read more

We actually never set foot in the hotel due to our pet getting sick the morning of our trip. She could not be boarded and we called the hotel to cancel and explained the reason. They stilled charged us for that night. Yes, I know it says we have to cancel 24 hours in advance but we were packed and planned on coming until we could not due to not having a place to board a sick puppy. The hotel facility in and of itself was 5-star, clean and comfortable room, super-helpful housekeeping staff, and the breakfast was delicious, plentiful, and varied. We stayed from Saturday night through Wednesday morning (yesterday) and had a nice stay. However, we had two problems. The hot tub was unusable. When we turned on the jets, thick green gunk came out of the jets and filled the hot tub with a nasty-looking green froth. Needless to say, we didn't use the hot tub. The pool, however, was absolutely perfect. The pool temperature and the room temperature were ideal. I could have stayed in that pool the whole stay. And now let me tell you about the huge problem we had with the front desk. I had made our reservations using my debit card. Now, I have learned not to do that ever again. Even though we paid cash when we checked in to cover the entire stay, they had put a one-night's worth of charges on hold on my account. This overdrafted my account. I learned of this Monday morning, went to the front desk and talked to them about it, and they said the hold would not come off until 5 days after we checked in. They said the process does not take any money out of my account; it just puts that amount on hold. I explained that doing so overdrafted my account and that if any other charges from elsewhere come through, they would indeed overdraft the account and cause me to be charged overdraft fees. Sure enough, that's what happened. Monday morning and Tuesday morning I talked to the hotel front desk and to my bank, and nothing could be done to help me. When we checked out of the hotel yesterday morning, same thing, the hotel would not/could not remove the hold. I called my bank and, same thing, I'm stuck with $72 of overdraft fees. So today, I call the branch manager of my bank, and since it was not the bank's fault, they cannot/will not reverse the fees. He advised me to call the hotel and have them refund me the $72. He called the hotel for me and was told they would not give me a refund. So, that means I'm stuck paying $72 in overdraft fees. That's a shit-load of money for me. I am very, very, very upset with the hotel for not removing that hold as soon as we paid cash or at least doing so Monday morning. (I was told this happens automatically through the computer program and that it could not be reversed until we checked or 5 days passed.) This process pretty much screws us as customers. Like I said, I will never use a debit card to make a hotel room reservation again, and I certainly will not be staying at Comfort Suites in New Bern again. read more

This was a great motel! It only cost $90. My room had a very clean king bed. The bathroom was clean, and so was the floor (no stains anywhere). I had to go to the airport at 4:15 in the morning and the guy took me with a smile; he even had a breakfast to go waiting for me. read more

We stayed this last weekend. It was wonderful stay. Apparently, it was a camp weekend and the hotel was maxed out. But there were no issues getting into our room. The hotel staff are absolutely wonderful. They were so kind and helpful and gave us a lot of information. Very pleased. read more

This place is very nice except for the overpowering smell of cleaner. The fragrance has set off my allergies both times I have stayed there. It is so strong I can smell it in my clothing when I leave the place. Such a shame, because the rooms are lovely, the beds are very comfortable, food is ok, staff is nice. The Hotel itself is very nice. The Lobby is very modern and everything was kept up very well. The room was impressive. It was much larger than i expected for the money. If i was rating the facility itself, I would give it 5 stars. However, my experience with the employees left something to be desired. I crossed paths with a maid leaving an elevator and it was the only time I saw an employee who smiled and spoke politely. When i checked in, the lady I encountered at the front desk didn't greet me. And after i checked in, she said nothing about my room, breakfast, check out or even just asking if there was anything I needed help with. I just didn't feel like customer service was a priority to her. the next morning, I called the front desk to ask what time breakfast would end and a different lady answered the phone. She was just as short with me as the one who checked me in the night before. I asked what time breakfast would end and she said 10:00. I said okay, thank you and before I could say the word "you" she hung up. I thought she may be busy but when I left my room for breakfast a minute later, I saw that she was by herself at the front desk, leaning on it watching a TV. So now I think maybe I was just interrupting a TV show she was watching. The same lady was at the front desk when I checked out. When I went to turn in my key card, I spoke first and said that I was checking out. She replied without smiling and just said "okay, thanks." I normally am not one to point out flaws in customer service or attitude because I always assume I caught someone on a rough day. However, the attitudes were consistently unfriendly, though not angry and I felt like it was more of a result of the training given to the employees than the employees themselves. So I though I should share the feedback, because it could probably be easily improved. Until it is improved, when I visit the area, I will stay at the Hilton about 2 miles away. It was only $20 per night more than this place, is in a better area and I have had consistently good customer service there. read more

Stayed there the night of Nov. 17. First appearances are impressive with a big room, two queen beds, and a large flat screen tv. First the remote did not work and when I called the front desk, the clerk said that it was probably dead batteries and to bring it to her. When I did, she discovered that it had no batteries at all. they were replaced land then worked fine. My wife discovered long hairs on the turned down sheets, and assumed that the maid had lost hairs, and pulled down the cover to make sure that the sheets were clean and they appeared to be so and she went to bed. I watched TV for a while, then without turning on the light, slipped under the cover, and went to sleep. The next morning, when I got up, I saw several large brown spots on the sheets, which looked like feces. they were obviously wet when the bed was made, as the same spots were transferred to the top sheet. I immediately went to the front desk to ask the clerk to come to my room to see this. She referred it to the manager, who told me that the housekeeping supervisor would come up and look at the room. A few minutes later, he showed up, looked at it, pulled the top cover completely off, and stated that it was "...only Chocolate", and pointed out several large chocolate crumbs on the bed. It was obvious that someone had slept on the bed, and the bed linen was never cleaned. We began packing to leave, and the desk called to say that they were taking 20% from my bill. When I told the clerk that this was unsatisfactory, that I has slept in a dirty bed, she said that she agreed, but this was all she could do. read more
