OMG, this place is like the Bates Motel!! There are bugs in the beds, The toilet was filthy. The rugs were ripped as was the wallpaper outside of the rooms down the hallways. Poor lighting and very limited channels on TV. The breakfast was very limited and tasteless. I wouldn't have my worst enemy stay at this hotel read more

I will add just one caveat per the bad reviews left here. There was some staining/peeling in the top right corner above the shower. That was it. Otherwise, this property and the stay were above and beyond. It was a graduation stay. My experience began with a front desk associate who went above and beyond to pre-assign a room that checked all the boxes we needed as I was traveling with my elder mom. When I had questions re cancellation policy that she was unsure of - she got in touch with the manager and called me right back with the answers. When we arrived there was a keepsake gift bag full of bottled water, cookies, pretzels and a card welcoming us. I've worked in hospitality -- where this amenity is typically reserved for members at very high levels and, even then, what we gave them was not as nice as this. The room was clean, spacious, no strange odors, or stained carpet. It looked out onto a peaceful grassy yard surrounded by trees. It is an unusually small building and charming in its appearance -- yes older - charming in a way they don't bother with anymore. It appears to have once been a small hotel/motel that indeed was charming! On Saturday evening ... graduation day ... we returned to find a small stuffed graduate teddy bear placed on one of the pillows - a gift for our grad. Add that to the room being fully turned over every day of our stay without a request required. Not enough can be said about how friendly and helpful the staff is. The lobby is small but furnished with comfortable couch/chairs and is an inviting space, as is the breakfast area - with touches such as vintage wood shelving and curio - and the seating surrounding a gas fireplace. Coffee and fruit are fresh and available 24 hours. And it's a great touch that it shares a lot with Perkins -- a family restaurant with whatever you might need. It's in an area with easy access to many fast food options, as well as a Dennys. Dunkin with a drive through, as well as gas stations. Also just about a mile or so from Cortland's recently renovated main street area with a great selection of shops and restaurants. We opted to return to Cortland for lunch on a wash-out rainy grad Saturday to avoid the crowds in Ithaca. No reservations we found a great spot and enjoyed a great meal. I would note the poor reviews are 2-3 years old or older -- Perhaps ownership or management has changed? Because I would not only stay again - I would go out of my way to stay at this property. read more

Such a cute inn! Even though there are bad reviews we didn't have the same experience at all. Our room was clean, everything smelt normal, bathroom was clean. The front desk workers were so nice. The breakfast was unexpected but so sweet and nice. Good experience overall. :) read more

This place is a dump. Dirty tub. Torn wallpaper. The heater could not be regulated, and I had to turn it off and on a few times to regulate the temperature in the room. The bed was clean and I was exhausted, or I would have looked for a decent place to read more

Yelp needs to change stars to skulls to accurately define the Quality Inn in Cortland, NY I have just left this hotel at 10pm to pay for another hotel. It would be impossible to have stayed The staff stares through you while managing to ignore you. The filth is apparent wherever you choose to look. My son described the smell of the hotel as "warm"... think about that for a second I have stayed in probably hundreds of hotels through my life. This place is the absolute worst place I have ever entered . My photos don't do it justice But you'll get the picture To top it off.... The front desk staff's shirt was beyond filthy. But I'm sure this is acceptable over there No fault of her own. I hope she finds something better!! Lastly... The picture you see on the hotel apps and booking sites of this hotel are not even close to reality Please never ever book this hotel Goodnight from my new hotel!! read more

If it wasn't out of pure necessity I would not have stayed here. The shower was absolutely disgusting. I couldn't even use it. The pictures show exactly why. I don't think it was cleaned last since last patron was there as their hair was still on the wall in the shower. There were spiders in the corners. Dust all over the room. A hole in the wall. This is more of a No Tell Motel than a Quality inn. Their "breakfast" was some cereal and coffee. They have a waffle maker but I don't know if I trust the batter machine being clean. Spend the extra few dollars and stay at the Hampton inn next door. I wish I had. read more

The room was not cleaned. Hallways were extremely dirty. Our tub wouldn't drain( they would have known that if they cleaned it). Cereal was stale, 4yr old wouldn't even eat it. It says non smoking, but it still smells like smoke. Won't stay here again read more

GROSS. GROSS. GROSS. Very old, outdated and dirty on the outside. Multiple signs throughout the hotel stating "smoke free" but absolutely not true. As you walk through the front doors, the smell of mold, Mildew and stale cigarette smoke smack you in the face. We went to our room and were immediately met with a strong wet mildew and cigarette smell. We decided to ask for another room due to the strong smell. We unfortunately got stuck in the room as the door was jammed and would not open. After afew minutes of using our body weight we got it open. Front desk gave us a new room across the hall. This room had an even worse cigarette smell and the AC unit was broken and falling off the wall. Front desk was helpful, gave us a pile of room cards to go smell rooms out. We tried one, it smelled like mildew, stale cigarettes and perfume but better than anything we had thus far. We tried another room but the key wouldn't work. As we were walking back to the front desk, the family who was in that room walked to that same room and went in...Front desk gave us a key to a room that was already occupied. After a 13hr drive we decided on the perfume mildew room. Rooms are very outdated, wallpaper is peeling with mold showing. Halls are very dark and dim. Mildew smell throughout. Wi-Fi didn't work. Breakfast is lacking but there are plenty of options around the hotel. All around this was a very poor hotel. I do not recommend. read more

The room was a good value for the money. The hotel is convenient (it is right of I-81). The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet could use a few more item...like bagels, toast, English muffins, etc. And the carpeting in the breakfast area could definitely stand to be cleaned. But otherwise, it was adequate. read more

Front desk girl was very sweet, but that's the ONLY positive thing. As soon as you enter the hallways you can smell cigarettes, urine, and must and there are visible nasty stains all over the carpets, the room was disgusting, bed was very obviously unchanged. Dirty, smelly carpeted floor with obvious stains and spills, dirty bathroom with mold and peeling wallpaper, stray human hairs all over the bed sheets, had to wait around the front desk a while upon checkout. For a non-smoking place, it smells like an ash tray. This is the absolute filthiest place I've had the misfortune of staying at, and I only stayed a night... read more

This was a very poorly maintained hotel. Not only was the general upkeep bad (ripped wallpaper, molded shower ceiling, and peeling paint) the room surfaces were not even wiped down between guests. The AC unit had used contact lens on it and other grime. The only positives were that they used bleach in the room and they were dog friendly. read more

1) I booked 2 double rooms for one night for graduation weekend 2022, we were a group of 6 (5 adults, 1toddler) When the weekend was getting close, one in our group tested positive for covid and was not coming with us. I called Quality Inn to cancel one of the rooms, as it was still refundable according to my booking. I was informed that cancellations for graduation weekend had to have been made 3 months prior! 2) So we had 2 rooms to pay for. In one of the rooms, we opened the drawer next to the fridge while searching for an ice bucket and were BLASTED WITH A CLOUD OF MOLD! There were 2 open loaves of GREEN bakery bread. Luckily my niece was across the hall as she suffers with asthma.... 3) When i called the front desk about this event I was promised a discount on the room, then again when I walked by the front desk, I was reminded that I would be compensated regarding the CLOUD OF MOLD. 4) It's been 1 month and 6 phone calls, mostly messages, sometimes no pick up and still no satisfaction. 5) I will not stay there again, and I do not recommend this particular motel in Cortland NY read more

Clean room, nice comfy bed, and friendly helpful staff, but the building itself is pretty run down. Breakfast wasn't fancy but it was fine.

Booked through Hotel.com at $70 for a king bed room. Not bad for a rest stop on the road to Ottawa. Clean. Functioning. Plenty of hot water and pressure. I didn't do the complementary breakfast beyond grabbing a cup of coffee to go. Cortland has a number to interesting breakfast alternatives, and I stopped in at Long Island Bagel for an excellent rounder to go. Quality Inn was good enough for this solitary road warrior. read more

Let me just start by saying my family and I are not boujee in the least, just looking for a HYGIENIC place to stay for an out of town event. I've also never written a yelp review because I've never felt the need to. So before we left the hotel for said event we opened our sheets to find what we thought was rice all over the bed, but ended up being bed bugs. There was "no manager" in duty and housekeeping "went home" for the day. We were shown other rooms with the same issues. The man at the front desk, who's name I won't say as to not go complete savage on this situation, told my aunt it "wasn't bugs." luckily we caught a bug and put it in a cup showed them and got a refund. Please go to the holiday inn next store if you need to be in the area and save yourself a truly traumatic experience in The Norman bates motel. I don't even know why I'm wasting my time with a yelp review, I should really just call the department of health. The worst part is I see a similar review from a month ago on here, so clearly this has been happening here and nobody cares. Nasty. read more

When we arrived they didn't have the correct rooms booked (booked with 3rd party) they did move people around to accommodate us. For that they get a thumbs up. After that it went down hill quickly. The rooms were dirty. Socks in one closet, paper clips and pens on the floors. One room was missing the fridge. The tubs in both rooms were dirty. There was almost NO hot water for showers in the morning. The breakfast was seriously lacking. One room someone tried to access at 730 am after being told the room was vacant. Over all I was not impressed and will be staying somewhere else next time. read more

I have to give 1 star because I have to , this place was awful . #1), lost my reservation . #2) charged extra for by 18 lb dog . #3) the carpet was damp and the room smelled . #4) mold in the bathroom #5)the shower was also a bath . the water did did not drain . #6) the free breakfast in the morning was store wrapped muffin and Plain donut , previously frozen egg patty . NEVER AGAIN , ITS A DUMP. read more

OK I guess I shouldn't expect much from a Quality Inn based on the price ($85 for two double beds and three people) but still I was disappointed. The room sort of smelled the first night, (we changed rooms for the second night), and the exhaust fan didn't work in the bathroom. Wonderful. The second night the fan worked but it made more noise than you would think was possible from such a small device. The beds were really uncomfortable, I woke with a back ache after two nights on these tools of torture. The pillows are these little square deals, too small with one and too much with two. The pluses were the cost, the A/C unit was digital and effective, and they offered a free breakfast of Bagels, danish, toast, juice and coffee. read more

Bobbie-Jean Sherman was an absolute NIGHTMARE to communicate with. Not only did she not give us full transparency about the wifi situation, a service that is included in our stay, but lies because she "was too busy to move from the desk [to go to the electric room that was less than 30 seconds away]." At 10:00 pm the wifi began to disconnect completely throughout the hotel. I gave her a call at 10:15 and she said she will fix it and will give me a call. At 10:30, I went down to ask about the situation and she claimed it happened to be working on her phone because she fixed it, insinuating that the wifi didn't work for anyone else who came down to complain later- but her *NOTE: There is a separate locked wifi for employees so she did not actually check the condition of the guest wifi as she was doing other paperwork, complimented by her response later. At 11:00, I went down followed with an adult and two other guests, then she happened to claim that it was working on her phone before but not anymore. Then she calls an employee named Nick to go fix it and that she will call us when it is fixed. As Nick was going to fix it, she states for batum "I SHOULD FOLLOW HIM TO LEARN HOW TO DO IT." Well Bobbie-Jean Sherman, I frankly do not care much about the wifi- which should have worked given the service listed- rather, you lied saying you fixed the wifi to me, when you didn't throughly check, but when others came to also complain you "didn't have time to move from the desk [FOR 40 MINUTES]." I did not recieve an apology for your outburst nor your lack of transparency. Like a coward, you never called back but left for the end of your shift- without solving your issue. Thank you Nick for handling the situation decently with an explanation but next time, give me your manager's email and give us a solution. Aaron Dann, the manager of Quality Inn, if you are reading this, her outbreak is no where near the "quality" and service that we should have been given, with all due respect. We have been more than patience and respectful until she blatantly yells how she couldn't fix the wifi because she didn't have time, contradicting her past statements. The showers are also disgusting with brown stains and walls slightly ripped. read more

This hotel was reasonably priced but my first room had black water coming from the faucet. I requested a new room and the water in that room was yellowish brown and the bathtub looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a year. I would never recommend this hotel for anyone!!! If I could give 0 stars I would they don't even deserve one star. read more

Why has everyone only rated this place 3 stars? We arrived after 8pm with a reservation. The woman at the front desk was very friendly and told us the hours of when the breakfast would be available. We got to our room and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was tastefully decorated, clean and didn't have any type of odor. The bathroom was clean too, with a newer sink top, mirror and lighting fixture. The wallpaper and tiles need to be updated. The toilet did run all night but only every 20 minutes or so. The water temperature and pressure were just right. Beds were comfy, as were the pillows. My only complaint is that their direct tv didn't have AMC, so I missed the season premier of my favorite tv show. Breakfast was apple and orange juices, coffee, tea. Bread, English muffins, bagels, muffins, oatmeal, cereal, make your own waffles and sausage patties. I did see yogurt too. Not a bad stay read more

This hotel is a dump. Upon arrival, our room appeared old and musty. The carpet was damp and the room was filthy. Something told me to check the mattress for signs of bedbugs, and low and behold, it was crawling. The woman at the desk seemed unimpressed and said "It happens, it's like lice." Ok, well full refund is expected. Do not stay here! read more

Booked through Priceline for about $75 a night. The hotel itself was decent for the price, however the room I stayed in was less than clean. The bathroom looks like it had not been cleaned in weeks. Toilet was dirty as well as the shower-there was clumps of someone else's hair in the shower drain and on the bathroom floor. I am a travel nurse working nights and there were dogs barking across the hall during the day. On the bright side there was a fridge & microwave in the room and the sheets seemed clean. Would not recommend. read more

I organized a group of about 40 motorcyclists, and we had to shuffle quickly after some flooding wiped out our scheduled location. The Quality Inn was great for us--well organized, small Quality Inn with great service. Breakfast area is well stocked, and snacks there throughout the day. Basic rooms, but clean. They worked with our folks in making suggestions, and were very understanding of our group in the breakfast room, in the parking lot, etc. They even supplied us with some old towels to help us dry the morning dew off the bikes. Would recommend them for a group outing again. And for such an outing, the location is perfect--just off the highway, with all the noise and food on the other side of the highway interchange. read more
