This was our first experience at a Bed & Breakfast and it was lovely. The owner, Clark, was friendly and welcoming, making us feel at home them moment we arrived. Our room was clean, the water pressure for the shower was powerful, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in on vacation. Clark cooked delicious breakfasts with the freshest ingredients, and was accommodating to our food restrictions/preferences. Also noteworthy, the B&B is off the main street and next to the lake so it is the perfect spot when staying in Skaneatales, NY. I would recommend anyone to book a stay at 2 W Lake B&B if you are making your way to this town and want to feel a part of the community even if you are only staying for the weekend.

This was the week before the nearby colleges graduation so the whole Finger Lakes region was relatively quiet which resulted in a chill experience for us. This BnB consists of 2 houses. We chose a room in the second house. it was very quiant. Given that this was the quiet week, we had the entire house to ourselves even though it would have been fun if there were other guests around to interact with. Nonetheless, the hosts very gracious and made us feel at home by interacting with us during breakfasts and dinner. They genuinely wanted to get to know their guests and vice versa. The black Labrador Gus was also super friendly. We got the package that includes a 4-hour wine tour car service and an exclusive dinner for 2 prepared by Wally himself, on top of the daily breakfast that's included in the standard room rate. The highlight of our stay was Wally's culinary skills. He is a world-class chef in our opinion. He made the best omelette I've had in my life. Since we got the dinner package, every detail of the 4-course meal was discussed and customized with us prior to our stay. I would recommend Glass Magnolia to anyone visiting the region. Even if you are not into wines, Wally's cooking alone is worth the stay.

The property is on the National Register of Historic Places. It's on a large piece of land, ideal for getting away from urban life and enjoying the quiet. There are only two rooms. My husband and I stayed in Laura's room, which was beautiful. Actually, the whole house looks impeccable. There are free snacks and drinks and a living room area guests can use downstairs. When we went in the summer we were woken up early by the sound of many birds singing. Then we had breakfast. We're not usually breakfast-people, but the fresh fruit and mint ( some from the garden) with yogurt, honey and preserved lemon were incredible. Lastly, the grounds are tranquil day or night, and the newborn fawn in the garden just made the stay extra special! Some suggestions we left with Sabina: Ceiling fans would be a good addition to the rooms. Although the inn has central air, on this warm humid May weekend some air circulation in the room above the set house temp would have been good. Still - Sabina gave us a fan for the room and lowered the temperature a bit for our second night there! Also, considering it is wine country, I'd suggest individual refrigerators for each room as opposed to one shared mini-fridge for all the guests to share. Guests should also be aware that if you chose a room in the font of the house that the occasional late night truck traffic on US 20 may disturb the lighter sleeper. Those points asiide, I'd agree with our breakfast mate who has stayed at the inn 3 times.... deffiinitely a repeat if we're back in the area!

Saturday morning Jen made a wonderful frittata with sweet potatoes, bacon and garlic. To. Die. For. Then Sunday she made a perfect French toast casserole from Challah bread. My next door neighbor here on Onondaga Hill told me about The Iron Lion Inn. She said HER family stayed there last year and swore it was the Best B&B they'd ever tried. She said to me.. " And they do a lot of traveling." Sooo, we ventured a test and WOW!! First of all, the house is stunning. The Rooms are individually decorated- each one is different (we visited to look), the food is organic, and treats, cake, fruit, chocolates and sparkling water is available at all times. But my Father in law clinched it.. he said they almost didn't want to get out of bed to come visit us. !! Haha.
