I gave this motel 4 stars because it's exactly what it claims to be - an inexpensive, clean and reasonably comfortable place with nothing fancy and no frills. Despite the run-down exterior and deteriorating parking lot, the actual rooms are very clean and exactly as depicted in travel websites. The room we had featured two double beds with good linens and comfortable mattresses, a mini-fridge and small microwave (no coffee maker, although I was told they make coffee available in the office each morning), and a fully functional bathroom (no tub, shower only). There is no desk or chair in the room, if that is important to you. No food is served at the premises, and there is no pool or any other amenities typical of chain hotels This is strictly a place to sleep for a night or two while you are in town, and it serves that purpose very well. It is not a place for a vacation stay or a getaway with kids. Everything is very clean, even though the lighting is rather dim and the décor is predictably drab for a motel room at this price point. I understand that they also have rooms with a single king bed, but I haven't stayed in one of those. There are two good diners around the corner from this place, and Main Street is one block away, where you can find some very good coffee shops, bars and restaurants as well as a few quirky shops. Rates currently vary from $75 - $100 per night, depending on how busy the season is. This entire region becomes quite busy in late August when families move their college students into dorms at nearby SUNY Cortland (5 minutes away), Cornell University and Ithaca College (about 30 minutes away for each), so room rates tend to rise at that time. I imagine that other college events (parent weekends, graduations) as well as seasonal local attractions have a similar effect. This motel compares favorably to others in the region which are similar but priced substantially higher. Finally, the owners/staff are extremely cheerful and helpful. I would not hesitate to stay there again when passing through the Cortland area for a couple of days. read more
