Well things have sure changed here and for the better. No more dirt and grime from the frackers who are now told to remove their filthy boots before entering, thank goodness! As a result, we had a very pleasant stay here for three nights. The staff was great and the breakfast bar was well stocked and regularly attended to. Our room was super clean and the cleaning staff was terrific. The next time we find ourselves in the area we'll definitely stay again!

Although we tried to be, we weren't the quietest bunch with 10 kids excited and running around but the manager Connie was so gracious and nice to us. The complimentary hot breakfast is great. The kids loved the pancake maker. They had Egg omelets and various types of sausages which were great. In addition, they had muffins, bagels, a variety of cereals, juices yogurts and other snacks. So much better than the continental breakfasts that the other places put out. They redid the pool area recently and it's so much brighter than it was last time we stayed. The chlorine levels were a little high but at least we knew the pool was sanitized. We are so looking forward to coming back. Thanks for the impeccable service!!!

The room was pretty much what we expected. The kitchen amenities were nice, bathrooms clean, beds comfortable enough. We enjoyed the water park. (Separate review left on Cascades page) I do think it's a little misleading on the website and when you talk to the desk to schedule. It sounds like the lodge has a pool and hot tub. It does not have a separate one, guests use the one in the water park. So the day of arrival, we thought it would be relaxing to use the hot tub but it was way overcrowded. The hallways are LOUD. I know this is not due to anything the lodge staff are doing but more the other guests. Every night we were there we had kids running up and down the halls yelling late into night. I'm all for kids having fun but not waking up other sleeping littles past midnight. We even were "ding dong ditched" more than once each night. My other somewhat negative is we had a family stay package which included a pizza dinner and hot cocoa. The pizza was better than expected but we got the run around when trying to get the hot cocoa. We were told you had to get it at the Starbucks or the restaurant. The Starbucks was closed when the kids went to get it (8pm) and the restaurant refused, even though that's what the front desk said to do. Overall, if there was more clarity with what you were booking and receiving, someone enforcing some rules in the halls, and maybe longer restaurant and bar hours, this would have been a really great stay. We had a lot of fun. Just a lot of road bumps too.

The grounds are well manicured. The bed was comfortable and the pillows are plentiful. The location cannot be beat. We had dinner and drinks at the Blue Pointe Grille the night we arrived. We had a high top in the bar right near a window for a nice view of the lake. Highly recommend.

Don't get me wrong, it's expensive. But for once I felt like I'd gotten my money's worth! Everything everywhere was meticulously clean and well-kept. Our room was spacious and bright, with a private balcony and chairs, a couch and coffee table, and a full table that allowed us to take comfortable advantage of the room service breakfast. Potpourri sachets in the closet, free water bottles in the lobby, free coffee stations on each floor, and chocolates every night on the pillows--details, people! We also enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub, and of course the gorgeous patio and firepits overlooking the lake which was 80% of the reason we booked here. All of the staff we encountered, from the front desk to the housekeepers, were very friendly. I did think it was a little strange that the fitness center was in a whole different building and you have to walk across the parking lot to get to it, but hey--you get your steps in. The hotel is also very centrally located. On the water, of course, but next door to Seneca Harbor Station from which you can book lake cruises. It's also less than a mile from the entrance to Watkins Glen State Park and hiking trails and only a 5-10 minute walk from most restaurants. We did most things on foot. When you do get back in the car, there are multiple wineries within a 15-minute drive. The only problem the whole visit was the hotel internet, which was terrible every day. You could make do in the daytime, but at night, when everyone was back in their rooms after the day out exploring, it was slow to the point of unusable, and I ended up turning on my data hotspot to even be able to check my email. I would not suggest bringing time-sensitive work with you, and you should not expect to be able to stream videos on your devices. Just disconnect, you'll be less frustrated. There is an onsite restaurant and bar, and while it's nothing mind-blowing, it is a nice option to have (and is one of the few "higher end" type places in Watkins Glen). Menu includes a few of the standard local wines, which was nice!

Roughly a half hour drive from the museum. Checking in was a breeze, a quick visit to the front desk, the regular orientation about the hotel and my keycard in hand, a quick stop at the 24-hour coffee bar and I was off to my room in under five minutes. My room was a King Study W/Fridge-Microwave-Sofa bed Room. After the long drive my room was very inviting. The temperature was comfortable as the air conditioning was running. I found the room and bathroom clean and fresh and waiting to provide me with my weekend relaxation time. After getting settled in for the evening I enjoyed a bit Pandora on my tablet using the complimentary Wi-Fi access in the room. The internet was speedy for my needs and I had no drop outs or slow downs even while on skype. To round out the room amenities there is a mini fridge, a microwave, a coffee maker and a collection of coffees and teas provided and of course a television with local programing. Sleeping was nice, the bed was comfortable, the room darkening blinds kept out all outside light including the morning sun and I heard no outside sound, even in the quietest part of the night. Morning brings a complimentary continental breakfast buffet. I had a small bowl of oatmeal with a couple of slices of freshly toasted, well toast. There is a variety of breads and toasters provided. There was also a small selection of hot breakfast items including eggs as well as all you need to make fresh waffles if that is your desire. After breakfast I headed out for my daily adventures. Upon returning to my room I found it in the same fresh and clean condition I had found it when I first arrived. I enjoyed my weekend at the Cortland Hampton Inn and if my future plans find me in the area again I will be booking here again.
