Great place to stay. The room is comfortable and very clean. Self checkin, plenty of parking and Bonnie's restaurant for breakfast. If your traveling between Bainbridge and Ithaca, it's a good stopping point for both the distance to Ithaca and costs compared to the prices in Ithaca. Stayed here for my niece's wedding. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everyone in the wedding party was happy and well taken care of. The wedding itself was off site, but the hotel allowed us to use their facilities to store the flowers and do last minute prep for wedding set up. The suites are comfortable, clean and well maintained. The village of Greene is beautiful. I hope to return for some Finger Lakes wine tasting and will definitely stay at the Sherwood Hotel when I return. read more

I have stayed here twice, both stays were terrific. The management is friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is housed a beautiful building in the middle of downtown Greene and is within walking distance of Bonnie's, a cute little cafe, and Patockas, a really great restaurant. read more

My step-mother booked a block of rooms so that my siblings and I would have a place to stay when we came for my father's celebration of life party. With it being the closest option, we called to make a reservation and my sister and I got the last two rooms for the weekend, thankfully (or so we thought). Another sibling had made their reservation a few days earlier and sent me a picture of their reservation, rate, etc. When I made my reservation, I was quoted a different, higher price. I figured it would be easier to sort it out at check in. Boy was I wrong! Upon arrival, check in should have told me how things were going to go. The "Manager" running the desk that evening had quite the attitude. When I questioned the rate difference, she had to call the owner, Hunter. The owner told her, "that's the rate. It's the same for everyone in your block of rooms." After she hung up from Hunter, I was able to find the receipt my sibling had sent me. When I showed it to the "manager" (btw, what are you managing if you're the only employee and aren't given the power to make management type decisions??), she then had to call Hunter back. Of course, Hunter was suddenly unavailable to answer questions. An odd disposition to take on a high check-in Friday night. I requested a call back from Hunter as soon as possible. Then when I requested my room key, the "manager" said, "the gentlemen with you" (ie my husband. stop being so narrow minded!) "took the key". I know he in fact did not have the key. I bring him back to the desk and she insists that he took the key. After we again told her we didn't have it, she finally found it in her pile of keys. I know the wedding party that had arrived behind me also had issues checking in. They were in the lobby over an hour trying to get it sorted. When my sibling that provided the receipt attempted to check in, they couldn't find the reservation. When we got to the room, things did not improve. The door trim in the room for the door into the room had nail heads sticking out about 1/2 an inch (see the pics). The ironing board was old and stained. The carpet was in dire need of replacement. Apparently the wonderful new owners think that slapping a poor paint job on the walls is considered "renovating". Everything looks very well worn throughout the property. Phone receptacles sticking out from the wall (they've removed all the phones as there isn't anyone ever there to answer your call). Paper thin doors for adjoining rooms that allowed me to listen to the neighbors entire phone conversation. TV cabinet doesn't sit level, so the doors of the cabinet won't stay open to allow you full view of the TV. If you need to plug anything in near the bed (ie a CPAP machine), you'll need to move the mattress to get access to an outlet. In the mean time, my sister, who raised similar question about the room rate for her room was told that we had "bigger rooms" so that's why the rate was higher. I'm not quite sure how we had a "bigger" room. We had a single queen bed. There wasn't even enough room to add a second bed if they wanted to. My other sibling that I had the receipt from was paying less for a room with two beds. We put the Sherwood out of our minds and did what we were there to do, remember our father, returning to the hotel only at night. I don't think for the remainder of our stay until checkout on Sunday was there one person available at the property. Most often there was an "In Case of Emergency" sign in place of a person to service your needs. When check out time came, I explained to the gentleman working the desk that I was STILL waiting for a callback from Hunter. I wrote down my phone number again. I advised him that if I didn't hear back from Hunter in a timely manner that I would be airing their dirty laundry on social media. To this day I have never received a call from anyone at the property to discuss the situation. Here ya go Hunter, hope you like your review! :-) read more

I worked here back in the day right out of cooking school. It was a different place then and I love the change that has happened here. It is less stodgy and more comfortable. Eat on the porch if you can and the weather agrees with this review. The food was very good. We had the Greek appetizer and the chips with blue cheese. Both were great. The drinks were excellent and the service was comfortable and efficient. I was pleased to be back to visit. The food all the way around was delicious. I cannot wait to come back as the redux Sherwood is a nice change of pace for Greene, NY. I am proud to have had it under my belt as a place I have worked! read more

In Greene we have a marvelous selection of local restaurants to choose from - no "chain food" here. But if there's a special jewel in the crown, the Sherwood is it. Pick from a gorgeous Sunday brunch, formal dining in the evening, or wings and local brews in the Tap Room. We're very lucky that Amanda Dunlap and her family have brought the Sherwood back to life. This hotel/restaurant has recently reopened. Very good food. We had the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer, lobster bisque, Mediterranean salad, and chicken entree. Enjoyed all of them. With 2 bottles of beer, just under $60 for the 2 of us. The service was quick in the beginning, but slow later. Overall a good experience. read more

This is a renovated and reopened classic country hotel, that has become a destination location in Chenango county . Prices are average, and the service is terrific. I want to like this place. It's so close, and I love the renovations they've made. Service is great and is very friendly. I have been there twice and the first time I ordered the potato crusted salmon, which was the special. It tasted good, but it was not hot. I was disappointed. Tonight, we ordered take out. I ordered the Vegetable Napolean, and I thought it was terrible. The sauce had such a terrible flavor. The portobello mushroom, pepper and rice were flavorful. The portion sizes are very small and the restaurant seems pricey for the quality of the product. read more

Wow what a pleasant surprise. Stopped by & had dinner in the dining room this past weekend ( 8/23) and was very impressed. This place had been closed for a while and it seems as though the new management has hit a home run. Dining room was very classy with plenty of room between tables, very nice silverware, nice table cloths. Service was very good as well, but strangely, the wait staff and the lady at the front desk were wearing maroon T-shirts. My review would've been 5 stars but for this. A restaurant / hotel that exudes such charm and class should have a more classic uniform, White shirts and black pants is classic but polo shirts at the minimum please. Here is what we had and our ratings (1-10), 3 people dined- Presentation on all dishes was excellent - 8 Appetizers Hummus with pita - 7 Stuffed mushrooms (stuffed w/spinach and feta cheese w/ balsamic reduction) - 7 Bread served on table with pickled banana peppers, vin-oil, & butter - 8 Entree Chef special - Grilled Halibut, magnificent - 9 Fresh made Gnocchi - light & fluffy - 9 NY strip steak - w/ onions and mushrooms (ordered M rare) - 6 (served w/ red onions that were not caramelized, otherwise probably a 7) Grilled Asparagus - 10 (never had better, absolutely delicious) Best dining in the area, we live in Brooklyn, and this food can definitely compete down in the city. Having never stayed here, this place is awesome... from a food standpoint. We regularly have lunch meetings here. The lunch is fantastic. So on that note, I brought my mother, wife and kids here for Mothers Day brunch. It was a massive success. The food was SO GOOD! My finicky children had 2nds and one even had thirds. We didn't eat here but stayed here overnight on our way back from a family trip. I'm used to business travel staying at Hiltons and Marriotts and was honestly expecting a notch or two below. I was very happily surprised with my room - considerably larger and newly renovated. The beds were absolutely perfect and I had the best night sleep in weeks. The kids also loved. Finally the staff were charming combining service professionalism with a bot of old town charm. I swing by once a year and will definitely come back! read more

So, when it comes to service, this place made me happier than fancy hotels in big cities with astronomical prices. We came into town, unable to continue on snowy roads, and the girl at the front desk was helpful, accommodating beyond the call of duty, and all around, the entire experience was lovely. We didn't stay here but had an excellent meal here. We got there late on a Wednesday night and the server made us aware that while they were busy and he was the only server on staff, if we wouldn't mind being patient, he would get to us. We weren't in a hurry and wanted to check it out, so we sat down and waited. The wait was much less than we expected and the server was truly phenomenal. He handled 2 dining areas with several patrons in each and frankly was one of the best servers we've ever had. Both of our meals came out promptly, were delicious, and reasonably priced. The dining area we ate in had more of a formal feel, but there is a casual bar like area too. We would definitely come back because the food and service were so great, and would be especially interested in checking out the downstairs tap room which is only open later in the week. read more

Stayed here last week after making a reservation about three weeks ago. AT that time we requested a room facing the side street, not the back overlooking a parking lot and garbage dumpsters. Upon arrival we were given a room in the back not one of the ones on the side. There is an elevator, but no luggage carts. Parking was either in the back or in front in public parking spaces. Every space was taken in back, so we parked in front and had to carry our suitcases up to the room, which at the other end of the hotel. We finally did park in back after 10 o'clock that night or we might been ticketed in front. Internet states that there would be a continental breakfast included. Next morning we had to walk across the street for breakfast at a restaurant since there was only regular coffee and three tiny brownie cupcakes available! Oh, and we had to unpack our suitcases when it was raining. Room was tiny and one of the lamps was not working when we checked in. No designated parking anywhere made this a poor choice for a place to stay! read more
