Terrible experience, not only when we worked with Jay (contractor) when we remodeled our kitchen nearly two years ago, but ongoing. We chose this company as they advised they based their work on bringing in a large, efficient team and completing their work in approximately 5-6 days. Having a toddler in the home and being very pregnant with twins, this was very attractive to us at the time.
They took nearly three weeks to finish and the work was of very poor quality. Jay was rarely on site, his crew left huge messes every day, floor boards separated right after installation, cracks left in ceiling, granite was quickly blemished due to poor installation of faucets, and we still have crumbling grout at the seam between the granite and tile work on the wall. Jay was very difficult to work with from day one. One star is for his tile guy, Eugene, who did amazing work, was on time, courteous etc.
Cabinets have been an ongoing issue, very very poor quality. Jay is the sole contractor working with Affiza cabinets. John, owner/manager of Affiza is very pleasant, courteous, and has always been responsive, even coming himself to our home to check on and reinstall cabinet doors. Our initial problem involved the delivery of cabinet doors in a style that I did not select. Jay and John refused to accept this was the case, however they did immediately adjust their website to have actual photos of style corresponding with cabinet numbers so that clients can now double check that the design requested is the one that is ordered. The cabinet doors have had so many issues: within weeks of installation had separated at all seams, bubbling and chipping paint at the inner seams. The company replaced the cabinet doors, however to actually get this done we have had to consult and threaten reports to the BBB. New doors appear to have the same issues as the original ones.
We've had three friends remodel their kitchens in the past year: each I advised to absolutely steer clear of both VM (work by them in our home was completely lacking quality) and Affiza. Poor quality work, poor quality construction and product and very difficult to work with. read more
