After Armor Roofing remodeled the beam structure and installed skylights, Refined Painting patched the new interior two-beam sets with "mud" and paint to make each one of them appear like single white smooth textured beams. They also textured a portion of a wall that needed attention after a roof leak. They did a flawless job with multiple coats of priming, patching and painting the beams and returned a couple weeks latter to sand, "mud" and repaint a few small bubbles that arose in the curing process. The crew really is refined in their craft which goes way beyond painting. Jose, Luis, Julio and the entire crew are pros -- I want to say "artists" -- in drywall, texturing, reconstruction prep and painting.

The actual painting was good, and the crew was very nice. But they left our property covered in lead paint chips. We spent about three weeks cleaning up, and because we couldn't get all of the chips, we ultimately (by recommendation of the state) had to remove the top layer of soil from much of our yard, bring in new soil, and redo the landscaping in an effort to contain the contamination. When we first noticed the chips and contacted the owner, he said that his workers said they did follow protocol so he doesn't know how it could be so bad. Then he suggested we shouldn't be so upset because our property was probably already contaminated from previous paint jobs. They then offered to use a leaf blower to clean up the chips--which would have simply blown them into other parts of our property or our neighbors' yards. Afterward, I researched Washington's lead-paint requirements and found that there are specific training and certification requirements for work on homes built before 1978. My understanding is that the owner had completed the training, but Refined Painting as a company is not certified so the crew working on our home had not completed the training. This is so obvious now, given the outcome. I would also advise against using their carpenter if you need any work done on your house in preparation for painting. It was some of the worst carpentry work I have seen with wood not being properly aligned and bits reaffixed crookedly. Their project manager agreed that it looked terrible and said that they would fix it all but in the end only fixed some of the problems and just left the others and painted over it. Besides the pollution and the carpentry, the painting itself looked great, all the workers were very nice and Jose, the owner, is a great salesman (he could sell you your own shoe). But the way the lead paint was handled left us with a major cleanup and forever worried about the toxicity of our yard and our kids' exposure. Also the wonky carpentry work will need to be fixed. If you have a pre-1978 home and are prepping for painting, I would strongly recommend asking anyone bidding on your project for their lead based paint certification for their company and getting details about their lead-safe practices, containment, and cleanup guarantees. I wish for the sake of my children that we had.

A couple days later, a lady shows up, which was unexpected, she says the two guys only set appointments and she creates the bids, hmmm, okay. I invite her in, expecting to obtain some kind of verbal or written bid. No bid today, that will need to be presented at a later date and if you're not available to review the bid in-person, then it must be presented via Zoom call. No, we will not text or email you the bid. Hmmm, ok. 3.) I arrange an appointment to review the bid via Zoom call, Fineline skips the appointment completely with no communication. 4.) The next day, I receive text from Fineline, sorry, your project is too small for us, bye now.

Where do I even start. My wife and I hired Handyman based off of all the positive reviews and our…read moreinteractions during the quoting process. We asked to have a room converted back into a bedroom after the previous owner had tore it down. They said it was a very simple job, put up a few walls, hang a door, etc. and that it would take 5-7 days to complete. Handyman hires subcontractors and assigns them to a job, we were assigned Ro. He was very nice and had a good personality, but was extremely unprofessional, always late, skipped days without notice, quality of work was very poor, always lied, over promised, under delivered. The total length of the project was over 8 and a half weeks. 40 business days or 56 days of people in and out of our home, which was far more than 5-7 days. Each week we received a note that stated it would be completed by end of week, which was a lie each time. Job started 4/8 - Job ended 6/4 Ro would have random people at our home on any given day, some of which I'm not sure if they were licensed as he claimed one person was his "brother" and that gentleman seemed like he didn't know what he was doing. Example would be this man painted all of the was with paint that had no primer in it and did not primer first. So the following day when it dried, the paint started to flake and peel off in chunks. Ro would also leave piles of trash at our house and construction debris in our walkway, which in our contract it said he would take it every night. Did not mask off the room correctly, got dust in every crevice of our home, and made it impossible to walk through with the way he hung it. In total we had about 12+ people (contractors?) work on a job that was claimed to be simple and only take a few days to complete. Durning these agonizing 8+ weeks, I was in contact with Travis the owner. I was expressing constant frustrations and concern of quality of work. He would always over promise and under deliver, along with zero follow up. For the duration of the job I felt as though I was the project manager on his behalf. It wasn't until his GM Jeff returned from vacation and I demanded and in person conversation that Ro was removed from the job and the rework began on all of the things he messed up. Jeff was good to work with and has much better communication. But anything is better than almost nothing. Rework was as followed: Door was framed wrong and had to be removed and replaced All walls needed to be skim coated (they did this close to 6 times?) walls still uneven. Floor had to be torn out and redone a floor guy laughed at how bad it was done the first time Baseboards were removed and replaced but have gaps everywhere. Drywall damaged after install, replaced and fixed Fan was wired incorrectly causing the circuit to trip All the door trim was installed with wood screws and was over filled with too much wood fill A bunch of damage happened to things unrelated to the job that I asked them to fix. They painted 3 times as they kept having to fix things I'm sure other things but this was all I documented After all the rework and continuing quality issues of work being done we told Travis and Jeff that it was fine to call the job "completed" and please cut us an invoice. Even with us not being satisfied with the finished product, we wanted them out and our home back. We received a muddy invoice that we had to verify as it was a mess, once confirmed we paid it and moved on with our lives. Now everyday I look at that part of my house in regret of hiring this company. I'm writing this review in hopes that you can avoid what we went through and I would encourage you will find a better company to work with, as we have. Paid to have squishy floor shored up. B team put down real thin plywood. I brought it to his attention and asked to remove it and put down thicker, more solid plywood, but he just put down another thin sheet. B team assured me it would be fine. LVP installed and bathroom done, and my floor is still squishy and LVP is separating and cracking in spots. That said they were the only ones I could find who would do subfloor repair, so that's something.
