Jerry is a life saver! My Vanagon had a busted brake caliper which split two rims in half. Towed to Jerry after an 8 hour trip from home. Jerry went WAY beyond the call of duty and gave me two spare rims and fixed the brakes. Legend!!! read more

Brilliant. I brought in my Subaru-swapped Vanagon, which obviously is a pretty specialty item, and Jerry made her run in a reasonable amount of time for a reasonable amount of dollars. I wouldn't dare take this abomination of a van anywhere else, and if you have a Vanagon at all I'd consider him the best option in the LA area. read more

The owner repaired my wife's Honda Accord 2013. Excellent repair completely satisfied hundred percent better than the dealer.

My VW had dashboard warning lights coming on. I took the car to the dealer and another mechanic shop, both gave me a list on their diagnostic reports and wanted to charge me an arm and a leg! Quality Automotive did not find what the others were recommending, reset the car and only replaced my coolant tank. He fixed it! Jerry is very honest, did a great job and I highly recommend Quality Automotive. Thank you, Jerry. read more

It's unfortunate that I have to write this negative review because the first two times I visited this shop I was utterly happy with the service and value I received. However, recently I contacted them about using an extended warranty and they were unpleasantly unaccommodating. I do understand that receiving payment from a extended warranty company can be difficult but they weren't even willing to try before making assumptions. Then, when I called to ask about a completely different matter, the wife just assumed I was calling regarding the warranty again (even though she had already told me to seek assistance elsewhere) by stating "we just don't want to deal with that." Unfortunately, they have lost a customer. I get it's a small business but there was a better way to help me as a customer. read more

A good Vanagon mechanic you can trust is hard to find. Quality Automotive was referred to me by a very reputable and experienced Vanagon user's group so I had my van towed 90 miles to Jerry's shop to have him help me with multiple issues in getting my 1987 Westfalia Vanagon on the road. He patiently helped diagnose and solve several lingering issues and even lent me a part as we tested some functions in fully addressing the hard-to-solve "Vanagon Syndrom" idling issue, which is finally fixed after several years. If you have a Vanagon Jerry is a guy you can trust to do the job fairly and honestly. read more

Jerry and Carlos are the most honest people I have known in the automotive industry. I have brought multiple vehicles to them for diagnostic / repair and they have NEVER failed me. Always competitive pricing (taking into consideration their skill and certifications) and always well organized. They have always kept me updated with the repair process and have made me feel cared for unlike other mechanics. Jerry and his employees are the MOST organized mechanics I have ever seen. I have been in the automotive industry for a seven years and I am sure others reading this have as well, but these guys keep their shop very well organized which to me only means the best repairs with little time wasted. I really don't know what more to say but believe me I feel like there is much more good things to say about these guys. One last thing I can say is that their business name definately belongs to them... Quality Automotive. read more

Went back again last week and Jerry fixed a problem in my car that was bugging the heck out of me. He went on a test drive with me and that was amazing because my other trusted mechanic didn't want to go for a test drive. So he basically made me waste 2 days without a car and ended up telling me that there was nothing wrong with it. But not Jerry, he squeezed me into his schedule and in about 4 hours my car was ready to go. He fixed the annoying sound that was coming out of it. I love to feel taken care of, Jerry and Carlos definitely do the job. Here go five more starts read more

I used to have to do all my own car repairs because I didn't have a place that I had confidence in. Happened to be passing by one day and stopped in to check them out. I found that they had a LOT of experience in my vehicle (a classic '80s VW Vanagon) and had them start doing some work. They quickly became the only place I trust for all my cars and I highly recommend them. Jerry takes the attitude as if he's working on a family member's car when recommending the options for parts and service. They'd get 6 stars if Yelp allowed for it! :-) read more

Brought my Vanagon in for idle and other issues which was promptly looked into by Jerry. Found him to be an honest and knowledgeable person(both rare qualities) in all things mechanic. Can't recommend this shop enough. Thanks Jerry and Carl! read more

Jerry and Carlos are simply THE BEST! I was referred to them about 10 years ago and would not go to anyone else. It's so nice to have a mechanic you can trust. Honest and also just plain nice and wonderful to do business with. Recommend highly. read more

I'm 63 years old and have had a Volkswagen almost steadfastly since I was 16. Needless to say I've known lots of mechanics. But until I came to quality auto I had never come across one that repaired my car with the care that he does his own. He shows you what is right and what is wrong with your car before and after he works on it. In my case he declined doing any more work until I test drove my car for days to ensure those repairs would be for the best. Jerry not only reaffirms my faith in mechanics, but in humankind. Diogenes is said to have wandered Athens with a lamp looking for an honest man. Come to Whittier and shine your light on Jerry! read more

In simple truth, I cannot recommend this garage. Three months ago I got an oil change from Jerry. He neglected to tell me if anything was wrong with my car and for a $50 oil change I was told that diagnostics was part of the service. I assumed everything was fine with my car since he told me nothing about the car. I just recently brought it in to get a check engine light checked, and to get my brake fluid checked. Jerry didn't raise my car up to look at it he only looked under the hood and said I needed a new catalytic converter and brand new brakes and quoted me $2,400 for the service. He became defensive and rude when I asked questions about why I would need new brakes when they were just done last Spring. I asked questions not because I doubted Jerry but was wondering if possible if the last mechanic did faulty work from a previous garage. I was quite shocked at his attitude because I had heard this was a garage of integrity. I was suspicious about his attitude and went to another garage to get my car diagnosed. They said nothing was wrong with my brakes. Very dissapointed in the ethics of this garage. Shame on you! read more

Jerry and Carlos are two brothers who own and work the shop. If competence, honesty, fair pricing, and customer care are the 4 essentials for an auto shop, Jerry is tops. We have been taking our Nissans to him for many years. On several occasions I have had things diagnosed at the dealer. When I see their $130/hour billing I bring my van to Jerry to see what he says. Usually, half of the things spec'd for repair don't need it (or at least not yet). And his pricing comes in around 60%. He's also certified for Hybrids and that has been a plus for us since getting our Altima Hybrid on '10. Twice (in maybe 7 years of 2 cars) he missed something. In both cases he acknowledged it and made it right. Carlos will let you know if they can do it same day or not. My wife trusts them and is happy to give them our business. read more

I'm new to the area so i called this place to ask a simple question on prices for service on my vehicle, but wow the gentleman was so rude. He seemed bothered and angry just cause I'm inquiring on what they charge for simple brake job, service, etc? Sorry but I will never take my car here. There are plenty of spots in the area who will gladly help and I found one quick. Like they say, takes seconds to lose a customer and years to find one. read more

Talk about great service and wonderful people. Had a great experience with car repair and customer service. They took care of my problem and were patient with my work schedule. EDIT #2: I forgot to update this sooner, but Quality Automotive did call me after my last edit went up and they apologized and offered a free oil change, which was nice of them, but I was moving and didn't get the chance to take them up on their offer. Thanks Quality Automotive! read more

I have a troublesome beetle that has a lot of issues. It is very important to me that I have a place I can take my car and know that it will be taken care of and I won't be taken advantage of. As a woman it is always a concern of mine that I am treated fairly and they always take extra time to explain all the repairs. I won't take my car anywhere else! read more

Jerry and Carlos are the best! As a single woman going in for automotive repair I am usually taken advantage of, but not at Quality Automotive! I really appreciate their honest quality work. They now have all my auto needs for the future. Sorry Jiffy lube. read more

I took my car here after I had issues with a family mechanic. Both Jerry and Carlos were very helpful and explained the 2 possibilities as to why my car was making weird noises. Jerry was able to fix it within a few hours. I now have a great place to take my car when ever it needs to be fixed. I will be recommending Quality Automotive to family and friends. Thank you for being straight forward. read more

Love Jerry and Carlos. They have always been trust worthy and have serviced my Vanagon since I bought it in 1999. Prior to that, they serviced my Civic for 8 years before I sold it. I have never been 'sold' anything that I really didn't need. Very honest and trust worthy. read more

Finally I've found a mechanic I can trust! Jerry and his son are the most polite and honest people I've ever dealt with in this business. Jerry told me exactly what my car needed, gave me options depending on how much I wanted to spend. He even offered to tell me what was wrong in case I wanted to fix it myself. I could have but I was so impressed by their honesty that I couldn't help but give him the work. Honesty like that should always be rewarded. No one else will ever get to work on my car. I recommend this place to anyone. read more

These guys are great. I had my Lexus GX470's alternator replaced. Initially, I was tempted to take the car to the dealer but after seeing their reviews and a family friend recommending them, They got a shot. To make a long story short, they really came through and take pride in their work. They put the first replacement alternator in only to take it out. They put the 2nd one in, checked it out and finished after their regular business hours. There's a lot of "Fly By Night" auto shops but these guys are anything but that. I would encourage anyone looking for a reliable and caring mechanic to take their vehicle there. If they could get 6 stars, I'd give it to them! They've earned my business. read more

I have been taking my cars to Jerry and Carlos for over ten years, after being referred by a friend of mine who had been coming to them even longer. I would never ever go anywhere else. My son, wife, and daughter are all now Quality converts, and I have sent several other friends here. Every single one of them has thanked me, and become life-long customers. Jerry is so honest and trustworthy, it's amazing in this day and age. He will tell you quickly, honestly, and politely what work REALLY needs to be done, what can wait till later, and what doesn't need to be done at all. He obviously has built his business on loyal and dedicated customers. Carlos runs the front desk, and is the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. Together (and now with Jerry's son), the are the absolute BEST foreign car repair place you will ever find! read more

The mechanics here are really knowledgeable, and you can tell that they are really honest. If you are tight on your budget, they will tell you what needs to get fixed immediately, and what can wait. I never feel like they are trying to rip me off. And they did such a great job. My car drove so much better after they worked on it. They are really friendly, too. I've never been that happy with any mechanic I've gone to in the past. I'm a girl, I'm not incredibly knowledgable about cars, but I know enough to tell if I'm not getting good service or a fair deal. The last mechanic I went to in Whittier *fixed* a problem with my car and then a little after a year the problem came back. The warranty was no longer valid and I just didn't trust taking my car back to that mechanic a second time anyway. So I went to Quality Automotive on a whim to get a quote on getting the same repairs done. They quoted me WAY less than what I was quoted at the previous mechanic to replace 2 parts. They kept my car overnight and called me the next morning letting me know one of the parts didn't need to be replaced. How nice, I was going to save even more money! So I walked out with a car running better than it's run in 4 years, paying less than I've paid any at mechanic EVER, and never feeling stressed or pressured by anyone there. On a side note, big thanks to Jerry Rubio at Quality Automotive. Such a friendly guy. He listens, he's respectful, and just from my first experience there I'd say that he's honest and does a great job. He's my go-to guy now. I've never had one before. read more

Shout out to Jake! I brought in my 89' dodge van and he and the team gave me the best customer service possible. I basically got a brand new van after coming to Charles Automotive. I told them I needed my van ready in a week and they called me daily giving me updates along the way. They worked past business hours and on the weekend (normally they are closed Saturday and Sunday). I will never go anywhere else except here to get work done on any vehicle of mine. Thank you for everything guys! read more

I had a Toyota Dealership tell me that I needed my right front axle replaced...$1100.00. I stopped by Quality Automotive and they gave me an estimate to fix it....about 1/3 less. When they put it up on the rack they found out it was only the boot that needed to be replaced. I had also picked up a piece of rope that was not helping my boot problem. They could of just replaced the axle and boot but they were honest enough to tell me that just the boot needed to be replaced. Being a person that doesn't know about cars and also new to the area I'm so grateful I stopped by their shop. If you need car repairs done I highly recommended them! read more

Have been a very satisfied customer for more than 20 years. Quality Automotive (Jerry and Carlos} have maintained my cars (Honda's and VW's) throughout these many years. They deliver what they promise and on time. Although Quality Automotive may not be the least expensive they are certainly the best and most reliable/knowledgable mechanic's that I have had the priviledge of dealing with. If you value honesty and peronal commitment, then Quality Automotive (Jerry and Carlos) should be given the opportunity to earn your business. Because I value the ability to drive my cars without worry of breaking down, I highly recommend that others provide Jerry and Carlos with the ability to earn their trust and confidence. read more
