It's unfortunate that I have to write this negative review because the first two times I visited this shop I was utterly happy with the service and value I received. However, recently I contacted them about using an extended warranty and they were unpleasantly unaccommodating. I do understand that receiving payment from a extended warranty company can be difficult but they weren't even willing to try before making assumptions. Then, when I called to ask about a completely different matter, the wife just assumed I was calling regarding the warranty again (even though she had already told me to seek assistance elsewhere) by stating "we just don't want to deal with that." Quality Automotive was referred to me by a very reputable and experienced Vanagon user's group so I had my van towed 90 miles to Jerry's shop to have him help me with multiple issues in getting my 1987 Westfalia Vanagon on the road. He patiently helped diagnose and solve several lingering issues and even lent me a part as we tested some functions in fully addressing the hard-to-solve "Vanagon Syndrom" idling issue, which is finally fixed after several years. Went back again last week and Jerry fixed a problem in my car that was bugging the heck out of me. He went on a test drive with me and that was amazing because my other trusted mechanic didn't want to go for a test drive. So he basically made me waste 2 days without a car and ended up telling me that there was nothing wrong with it. I'm 63 years old and have had a Volkswagen almost steadfastly since I was 16. Needless to say I've known lots of mechanics. But until I came to quality auto I had never come across one that repaired my car with the care that he does his own. He shows you what is right and what is wrong with your car before and after he works on it. In simple truth, I cannot recommend this garage. Three months ago I got an oil change from Jerry. He neglected to tell me if anything was wrong with my car and for a $50 oil change I was told that diagnostics was part of the service. I assumed everything was fine with my car since he told me nothing about the car. I just recently brought it in to get a check engine light checked, and to get my brake fluid checked. Jerry didn't raise my car up to look at it he only looked under the hood and said I needed a new catalytic converter and brand new brakes and quoted me $2,400 for the service. He became defensive and rude when I asked questions about why I would need new brakes when they were just done last Spring. I asked questions not because I doubted Jerry but was wondering if possible if the last mechanic did faulty work from a previous garage. I was quite shocked at his attitude because I had heard this was a garage of integrity. I was suspicious about his attitude and went to another garage to get my car diagnosed. They said nothing was wrong with my brakes. Very dissapointed in the ethics of this garage. Shame on you! read more

Jerry and Carlos are two brothers who own and work the shop. If competence, honesty, fair pricing, and customer care are the 4 essentials for an auto shop, Jerry is tops. We have been taking our Nissans to him for many years. On several occasions I have had things diagnosed at the dealer. When I see their $130/hour billing I bring my van to Jerry to see what he says. Usually, half of the things spec'd for repair don't need it (or at least not yet). And his pricing comes in around 60%. He's also certified for Hybrids and that has been a plus for us since getting our Altima Hybrid on '10. Twice (in maybe 7 years of 2 cars) he missed something. In both cases he acknowledged it and made it right. Carlos will let you know if they can do it same day or not. My wife trusts them and is happy to give them our business. read more

These guys are great. I had my Lexus GX470's alternator replaced. Initially, I was tempted to take the car to the dealer but after seeing their reviews and a family friend recommending them, They got a shot. To make a long story short, they really came through and take pride in their work. They put the first replacement alternator in only to take it out. They put the 2nd one in, checked it out and finished after their regular business hours. There's a lot of "Fly By Night" auto shops but these guys are anything but that. I've never been that happy with any mechanic I've gone to in the past. I'm a girl, I'm not incredibly knowledgable about cars, but I know enough to tell if I'm not getting good service or a fair deal. The last mechanic I went to in Whittier *fixed* a problem with my car and then a little after a year the problem came back. The warranty was no longer valid and I just didn't trust taking my car back to that mechanic a second time anyway. So I went to Quality Automotive on a whim to get a quote on getting the same repairs done. They quoted me WAY less than what I was quoted at the previous mechanic to replace 2 parts. They kept my car overnight and called me the next morning letting me know one of the parts didn't need to be replaced. How nice, I was going to save even more money! So I walked out with a car running better than it's run in 4 years, paying less than I've paid any at mechanic EVER, and never feeling stressed or pressured by anyone there. On a side note, big thanks to Jerry Rubio at Quality Automotive. Such a friendly guy. Shout out to Jake! I brought in my 89' dodge van and he and the team gave me the best customer service possible. I basically got a brand new van after coming to Charles Automotive. I told them I needed my van ready in a week and they called me daily giving me updates along the way. I had a Toyota Dealership tell me that I needed my right front axle replaced...$1100.00. I stopped by Quality Automotive and they gave me an estimate to fix it....about 1/3 less. When they put it up on the rack they found out it was only the boot that needed to be replaced. I had also picked up a piece of rope that was not helping my boot problem. They could of just replaced the axle and boot but they were honest enough to tell me that just the boot needed to be replaced.
