Do not use this business!! I wish there was a no stars rating. This is long but read b/c you need to know what you get if you use this business. Our home warranty program had them come out to fix our dishwasher, and the first time they came Nelson was great. He said he would order the part and then come back to install. Our home warranty program gave me the tracking number for the part and it arrived in two days. I waited for Nelson to call me (as he promised) and he never did. Over a week later I called him. He claimed the part had just arrived (uh, no, I tracked it on fed ex) and we scheduled service for that Thursday. He never showed. I called him Thursday and Friday and left messages and he did not return my calls. I called my home warranty and they called him and he answered promptly and said he would call me first thing Saturday morning and come and fix the dishwasher. He never called. Saturday afternoon I called him, and he didnt answer or return my message. I called a few times on Monday and he ddint answer. Finally I blocked my phone number and he answered! He said he didnt have any afternoon slots for the next few weeks (really??) and I explained that we can't do mornings and that I was also not going to wait for a 4 hour period since he already stood me up. He told me to call at noon on Tuesday and he would fit me in. I called three times at noon. No answer. Blocked my number and called again. He answered!! As of right now he promised to call within the next two hours and try to fit me in. I am not holding my breath. My home warranty program is no help--they said I have to use this guy. Do not do business with Qualified Appliance! I had an experience very similar to Natalie K. I was referred to Qualified Appliance through my home warranty program as well after my refrigerator stopped working. In short, Nelson does not keep appointments or return phone calls. The first day I had an appointment, I talked to him twice on the phone. After he still hadn't shown at the end of the appointment window, I called once more to ask him if he was still coming. He said he had been delayed and would call within an hour to let me know either way. He never called or showed up. I complained through the warranty company and we rescheduled for Saturday 8am - he promised to take care of it first thing. Well, Saturday comes and at 8:45...no Nelson. I tried calling him multiple times and he didn't answer. I could not leave a message for him because his voicemailbox was full. I called the warranty company again and they were finally able to get ahold of him. He showed up an hour and a half later. Told me he was delayed on a previous call. Really? He had an appointment on Saturday morning BEFORE my 8am appointment?? Once he showed up he was there for about 10 minutes. Told me I needed a new part (which he'd have to order) and collected the call out fee (mistake on my part). He promised to order it right away and install in the following week just as soon as it came in. On Tuesday, I called to inquire on the status of the part. Nelson told me he was on the line at that very moment placing the order and would call me back. The next afternoon, I hadn't heard anything so I called Nelson again. He conveniently was on the other line placing the order (again!?) and promised to call be back in 30 minutes. 1 hour later...still no call. At this point I called the warranty company yet again to complain. They investigated and promised Nelson would return my call by 8pm. Guess what?! 9pm...no call! I called the warranty company again, and they told me Nelson had JUST placed the order for the part with them! I ended up buying a new fridge with the money from the warranty claim. Nelson had not shown for 2 appointments and failed to call me as promised on at least 5 separate occasions. Please save yourself a major headache and DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH QUALIFIED APPLIANCE!! read more

I agree COMPLETELY with the other two reviewers! I wish I could give zero stars! The short version is Keith NEVER comes when he says he will, ignores your calls, never calls back, and always "needs another part" that takes WAY too long to get. We had our BRAND NEW LESS THAN A MONTH OLD humidifier/furnace combo break a few weeks ago. So we were without heat in Chicago in January... not ideal. As the temperatures started to plummet, we awaited Keith's arrival on a Tuesday night. He comes hours later and says he needs to go get a part, and since it's late, he'll get it at 6:30am on Wednesday morning and come RIGHT over. In the mean time, we have 4 space heaters barely keeping the temp at 60-ish degrees. Wednesday comes... no Keith. We call and he "got a late start" so won't be over until 8am. So, 10am rolls around, he finally shows up... WITH THE WRONG PART! Long story short, he kept coming and going, causing my fiance and I to miss a lot of work hours, never on time, never returning our calls and always with the wrong part. By FRIDAY he finally fixes the heat, but doesn't have the "time" to fix the humidifier. He says he'll do it by Saturday... Saturday rolls around, no Keith... Sunday, Monday, Tuesday...ignoring our calls. By the time we FINALLY get a hold of him on Thursday, he says he can't come until the following Monday. I'm furious. Monday comes around and he "can't make it". Which brings us to today, Tuesday, TWO WEEKS LATER. He PROMISES my fiance (who left work early, yet again) that he will be there at 5pm... he has yet to show up. ...I am sure IF he shows up, he won't even have the right part or be able to fix it. That's what I've come to expect from this guy. I'll probably still be dealing with this lazy, unprofessional behavior weeks from now. I am so beyond mad at this guy! I would NEVER recommend this business to ANYONE. Update: He finally arrived 40 minutes late... when he left he said it was all fixed. A few hours later I notice our humidifier STILL doesn't appear to be working. He forgot to open up the water valve. Then it seemed awfully cold for 72 degrees, so I get my thermometer out, and it's only 67... so now we apparently have to call him back AGAIN because something is wrong with the heat sensor. read more

I can't believe its been 3 years since the previous review and this place is doing the same thing. I also have a home warranty through American Shield and they put me in touch with Qualified Heating/Appliance. Nelson came out once to diagnose the problem, but didn't fix anything. I haven't seen him since. I've called him everyday for a week only to be told someone will get back to me. When I speak to Candice, she tells me she has to check with Nelson and when I speak to Nelson he tells me he has to check scheduling with Candice. I'm not sure how they're still in business. American Shield should be doing a better job checking who they are contracting with. The piece of mind of knowing you'll have good people coming to your house should be part of the $50 or so a month fee to them. read more

Where do I begin? I would stay clear of this company. This company should not be in business! Our home warranty sent us Mr. Nelson, the owner of Qualified Appliance Service to fix our Sub-Zero fridge. Nelson claimed he's familiar with these type of fridges and has taken seminars on these types of appliances, but every time he came something else went wrong. He made a total of 9 visits and the fridge was still not fixed at this point. During the last visit, he pushed the fridge back against the wall so hard and in the process broke the water pipe. After he left I noticed a pool of water on the floor and water also leaking into the basement. I immediately called him, and his reply was "I'm already on my way back to Chicago, just shut off the water, the fridge should be fine for now, and I'll look at it the next time I come out." Since we have hard-wood floor, 2/3 of the main floor was damaged as a result of water leakage. We pleaded with our home warranty company to not have him come back. We did some research on our own and got someone who's experienced with Sub-Zero Fridge to come out, and this guy got the fridge fixed in 1 visit. read more

WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!! Summer 2010 - Warranty company recommended them. Took them over a week to finally show up with the fan motor for my airconditioner. One of the guys actually leaves mid-job and leaves the new employee at my house who cannot finish install!! Nelson finally showed up and installed 5-7 days after first call. Summer 2011 - 1st time I go to use the air- conditioner fan is busted again. I call respectable firm nearby, and they show me how the install was completely wrong I had extra cannister or something hooked up(2 silver cylinders is what they look like) and they were exposed to elements, not covered. Now I need an entire unit!!! What a really poorly run business & even poorer service. read more

Do Not I repeat Do Not do business with this company, this has been a nightmare. I was directed to them thru my warranty company American Home Shield in Decmber 2014 and as of February 10, 2015 my radiator still has not been reaired. I wanted on 4 different occasions for them on 3 of those each time they came out saying they need to order part, one of the times they didnt even show up they claimed they came and no one answered which is a lie I took off work 4 times to wait for them all for nothing. Phone calls go unanswered and not returned the owner Keith Nelson is the worst it is just one lie after the other they never repaired anything I have since cancelled my policy with warranty company because of the sorry people they contract I gave one star I wish there was someway to give no stars because this sorry sorry company is not worthy of any. read more

wow! basically I am going thru the same run around and listened to that man lie on the phone! same warrenty plan called total protect aka home sure. I requested a new service company and they said it will take longer; I said no problem I've been waiting 3 month anyhow! they called me an hour later and changed their mind...said you will have to go with nelson since he is already on his way to get the water heater as we speak or get the credit for the appliance. Oh how funny! I said have nelson come out, like really? He is not coming anytime soon, hahahahaha and when he does, Im sure I will be out running an errand:) read more
