12/7/24 Menu

You really need to update your menu board as your prices do NOT reflect what gets rung up. Quality/Quantity - Combo Bowl - Single serving. Just enough for one person. The flavors were okay. The meats were dry, Gyro Wrap - Chicken. Again, just enough for one serving. The chicken was also dry, but the wrap was juicy. It was dripping with juice, probably due to the other ingredients. Baklava - Not bad. We used to come here and Troy's back in the day. I think I will stick with Troy's for now. Atmosphere - Small local business. Indoor and outdoor seating. Really busy when we got here, due to the end of the fair outside. One unisex bathroom. Limited street parking; again, due to the fair. But because we are locals, it is not a problem for us. Service - Counter service. See below. Self service drinks. Price - $33. My daughter questioned and commented that he rang us up for different prices than on their menu board. He ignored her, and quickly threw away the receipt... Because it was less than a $1 difference, I also ignored him. But this is a poor business practice. As we can see from the taped over prices on your menu board, you guys have NO problem changing prices, so it should reflect the same. BTW - Your online prices are also different from your in store prices...? Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2013.

Really love this place. Food is delicious. Fresh. Love the Gyro Philly wrap. My go to. So good. Their Hummus and Pita is also delicious. Great for an afternoon snack or early snack before dinner. For dessert, we got their Baklava. Nom nom. Service is excellent and food is consistently delicious. I highly recommend. Cheers!

We walked by and decided to eat here, the chicken was so dry it tasted like cardboard. Owners were nice. Parking was easy, rice and bread was good but salad dressing wasn't great and the meat was horrible l.:( I was barely able to chew it.

Located on Central Avenue, Q's offers Mediterranean comfort fare using hand-butchered, halal-certified meats. The place is cozy, modern, and welcoming, with a father-and-son chef team. Conveniently located right across from the Alameda Theatre & Cineplex, Q's has become a popular post-movie stop. Lots of moviegoers cross the street to grab a chicken wrap or gyro plate--it's fast, satisfying, and made to order.

"Delicious and Fresh!" Q's Halal Chicken never disappoints. The chicken is perfectly grilled, juicy, and full of flavor. I usually get the gyro wrap or chicken over rice, and it's always fresh and filling. The white sauce is . Super friendly staff and clean spot -- definitely one of my go-tos!

I had the Gyro Philly Wrap and waffle fries. All in all pretty good. The wrap was very greasy and the pitta bread was a little tough which I didn't like but the flavors were good. Waffle fries were crispy and delicious, the portion can be increased.

I stopped by Q's Halal this afternoon for lunch right at noon and the place was very empty, with only one other party dining indoors. The menu here is limited: basically you can choose a platter, wrap, salad and either chicken and/or lamb. My wife ordered a lamb gyro with a side of waffle fries while I got the gyro platter with double meat. In total, our meal came out to $43 with tax and tip. The lamb meat is tender and neither oily or too dry. I like that the meat is cut up to bite size and crisped up over the grill. The food is reasonably priced but the lackluster service (i.e. you go to the counter to pick up your food and you need to bus your own table, just like at a Costco food court), intimidating glare from the cashier when the iPad's tip screen is presented, and atmosphere -- full of flies both indoors and outside on the patio, prevents me from recommending it without wholeheartedly.

Affordable price $12 for a chicken gyro. They didn't skimp on the meat. It had lots of chicken cubes well marinated. A bit too sour for my taste but still very good.

Absolutely loved this place! The people here are super nice welcoming, friendly, and genuinely care about making sure you have a great experience. The food? Incredible. dish was fresh, flavorful, and made with love. You can tell they take pride in what they do. I'll definitely be coming back highly recommend to anyone looking for great food and even better service!

Local Mediterranean restaurant located across from Cinema Grill and the Alameda Theater in downtown alameda. Food: - Gyro Wrap: ordered a chicken gyro wrap with excitement looking at the other photos on Yelp. I wish I wasn't as disappointed, but there was such lack of flavor with the chicken and pita wrap to this dish. The chicken was also on the dry side. You can order a combo with this to get a drink and waffle cut fries. The fries were my favorite part of the dish, but they aren't Mediterranean... - Gyro Platter: ordered the lamb / beef gyro platter, which comes with basmati rice, chutney sauce, yogurt sauce, and pita. This dish had a bit more flavor. Miscellaneous: - Parking available via street, a small parking lot to the left of the restaurant, and across the street in the Cinema Grill parking structure - About 6 tables available (biggest table can seat 4) - They close at 8pm on Fridays, so would recommend coming before 7:30pm

It's actually my second time ordering their Gyro platter containing grilled lamb, basmati rice, pita and greens on side with yogurt and chutney sauce. The meat tastes just so delicious!!! The meal itself is plenty and pretty fulfilling. I suppose you eat the meat with the chutney sauce??? I still don't know lol Anyways, for whoever is reading my review, try eating your steamed rice with sour cream and i bet you won't go wrong for that lol... just saying... Food is a blessing and being able to get it and eat it and fully enjoy it is an another blessing!!! Gosh, i am so blessed. And this place is an another blessing too!!! Keep it up!!!

Anyone remember the name of the place that was in this spot 15-20 years ago?

What made you ask ? You can always check the archives at city hall. 2263 Santa Clara Avenue,…

With stay-at-home orders lifted, is outdoor seating available at this restaurant?

Yes they have outdoor seating available

Will they ever bring back their chicken wings?

Don't think so. The owner mentioned how it takes too much time.

Will you guys ever bring back the chicken burgers?

I wish you guys had halal pepperoni pizza like the other location. I would come here everyday, Richmond is too far and there's no other place in this area that serves halal pizza. Will you guys ever be bringing pizza to your establishment?

I actually haphazardly stumbled upon this place a few months back after hanging out at a brewery…read morenext door. After scoping out the vibes of the place and the menu, I told myself to make sure to give this a shot. The place is in a redeveloped corner of Alameda right next to the bay. Probably used to be Navy base grounds back in the day. But now there's a couple of blocks worth of hip warehouse-y type of buildings, mostly restaurants, beer spots, some lofts and a little retail commerce. Very happening even though the surrounding area is a ghost town. Dining area not too big, maybe a couple of rooms that can hold about 20-30 heads each. Think there's another room for a private party/overflow. Decor pretty minimalist and stark. Service on the upscale side but in my stay, matched the decor, very minimalist and stark. Efficient enough but a little terse with little emotion. But I know service personality can differ from time to time or person to person. Just my obsy for one out. Daily Crudo ($20/4*) I think this rotates daily. Our choices that day was hamachi or a house smoked sturgeon. The sturgeon really piqued my interest but then it really wouldn't be a 'crudo' anymore would it, since I relate crudos to something 'raw-ish'. So I chose the hamachi. Very pretty plating, I love symmetry and balance. The thin slices of hamachi were indeed fresh, sitting in a stealthy pool of yuzu and olive oil. There are some fresno pepper slices and microgreens that garnish and a delicious nori cracker to break and accompany the crudo. This went really well with my glass of Fume Blanc. Caeser ($17/4.5*) We split this salad as their version sounded super cool. A miso-tinged Caeser dressing, lots of rustic garlic croutons and feathery soft grated parm and a soft-boiled egg. I love properly made Caesers and this was one of the best and unique versions I've ever had. The umami punch and the diverse textures just hit with me. A tad salty for a salad, but the crunchy and refreshing lettuce was able to absorb the salt blast. Huge salad too, like ideal for splitting and ridiculously large if for 1. Beef Short Rib ($43/4*) This was on special that night, and since I wasn't feeling Steak Frites (their only other beef entree option) this kinda fell on my lap. Very heavy and hearty dish. The short rib part was impeccable, super tender, gotta be sous vide. Perfectly seasoned with braising elements completely penetrated into the meat. There was a coarse gravy/sauce that covered which was okay, may have been the braising liquid just pureed. Served atop a huge pile of some risotto that I didn't inquire about. This risotto is what made the dish especially heavy. I ate most of it and it put me in a heavy carb coma. Lol. But there was a nice serving of perfectly cooked broccolini which helped balanced out the rich beef and carb heavy risotto. Chocolate Bar ($13/4.5*) Shared this for dessert as I really couldn't take more than just a few bites after the filling entree. But was this impressive, like high end dessert quality. Whoever does the desserts here definitely has some pedigree. The precision cut bar consisted of 3 layers. A brownie layer; a Bailey's mousse; and a salted caramel layer. I was loving the texture of all the different layers playing on one another. And every flavor was distinct without being overly sweet, which hit the right chords with me. A thick ganache garnished off to the side, which was good but just seemed a bit overkill with the already chocolate dominant bar. I think a cream element would have been a better contrast instead of rich chocolate on rich chocolate. But very minor quip on an otherwise skillful dessert. I finished the last few sips of my glass of Rhone with this dessert, and it left me one happy camper. I would definitely return as their style with flavors hits an accord with me. A little French, a smidge of Japanese and a lot of California. Rounding to a fiver, as this place made me more happy than not.

We were the only party in the restaurant. The menu is extremely interesting, with a focus on slow-roasted meats and a California-Japanese fusion to many elements of their dishes. Because we were a party of five, we were able to try a lot on the menu, with some recommendations from the owner: - Corn fritters: Recommended by the owner, who said they're a best-seller. They were delicious and served with strawberry jam. Moist but with a bit of crumble and crumb. I could've eaten the entire plate myself. - Rotisserie cauliflower: With miso butter and furikake. My husband really wanted to try this. It was good, and he really loved it, but it wasn't a standout dish for me. - Trip's triple: 1/4 chicken, pork shoulder, and tri-tip all on a plate with chimichurri and garlic-jalapeño garum on the side. All of the meat was cooked so well, and the sauces were just delicious. This was a really generous serving of meat; my husband had to take some of it home. - Tsukune sando: Two tsukune (chicken and pork) patties with shredded lettuce, fried shallots, Hapa sauce, and a fried egg. I'm not sure what the Hapa sauce was and didn't ask, but this sandwich was just delicious. The patties were great and this is the first time I've tried tsukune. This was a messy sandwich, so I ate it with a fork and knife, but it didn't impact how tasty it was. I can't remember the dishes my in-laws got, but everyone was really happy with their food and what they couldn't finish, they made sure to take home. However, there's always room for dessert, and we went wild and decided to try all four of them. - Butter mochi: coconut butter cake. This was a table favorite. Rich, moist, delicious, and very unique. - Banana pudding: I'm a fan of banana-based or flavored anything, and this was fantastic. Loved the caramelized banana on top. - Choco PB torte: Definitely the richest dessert of the four. This is perfect if you're a chocolate fan. - Apple crumble: Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Warm and spiced. So good. I honestly can't wait to go back to Spinning Bones. This was a fantastic meal from start to finish and our service was great.

Since moving to the neighborhood earlier this year, I have walked past TrueBurger quite a few times on my way to/from the 19th Street BART Station, and I was excited to give it a try. I was initially thinking I would get a burger, but my friend had to postpone getting together until the mid-afternoon, so I ate lunch at home and opted for a milkshake when we met a couple hours later. I had seen a special coconut shake on the menu on the TrueBurger website; I'm a big fan of most things coconut, and especially ice cream. I was eager to taste the shake...and my excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I realized it was just a vanilla shake with shredded coconut. Why is TrueBurger trying to pass this off as a coconut shake? It's far less novel, but it's perfectly acceptable to only offer vanilla and chocolate shakes. The mix-ins actually put them one step ahead of much of the competition, but misleading customers is never okay. To add insult to injury, I have tried reaching out to TrueBurger via email, and management is incredibly unresponsive. They could have easily fixed this by offering me a refund or asking me to come back in for a shake on the house. Do better, TrueBurger.
