Updated review. I have been meaning to update this review for over a year. I think there was a buyout a few years ago, and the establishment is under new management. Whatever happened, there was a monumental change in the upkeep. The good is still good, friendly servers, decent beer selection, and price. The bad has been repaired, no more visible water damage, tables have been refurbished, and most of the pool sticks are usable. I love visiting Q now and often suggest it as a meet up spot. read more

I'll NOT go to this place again after being a loyal customer there for years! A bartender (I don't wanna mention her name but it's not Mel) just charge us extra drinks and thought she can get away with it. I've been to this place for many years because my place is literally a mile away from it. And I always loved the bartenders there like Avery and Mel. The owner has an awesome golden retriever whose name is Toby and I always loved spending my time just playing with him and rub his belly. But tonight this girl charged me 11 drinks of titos soda instead of 6 we ordered ( plus 2 pitchers of beers for total of 3 of us). Then I tried to talk to the owner in a polite way for refund for the drinks we haven't ordered. And he offered us $15 in cash with an attitude and I said "sorry but the $15 dries not nearly cover the extra drinks you charged and it's not what you should do. You need to refund slk the extra drinks we never drank on the credit card just to make things right". (On top of that my friend already tipped over 30% percent without caring how much they actually charged ). He responded "what do you what? $20 dollars ? how about I make it $30 dollars or $100 makes you happy? Tell me what you want and don't ever come close here or my dog again". WOW!!! sorry I've been around you and your employees and your dog since I'm a good customer to you for years and I always respected all of you and the dog and have been a great tipper! I loved all your bartenders and never had a problem with them and they all loved me? But whatever you, as the business owner just said is completely rude and NOT acceptable! I was very upset walking out of the bar, even though my friend and sister paid for the bill as what they planned before we went there. The way how the owner who handled the problem was totally not ok but being rude, disrespectful and threatening.. all I was asking was to make things right by refunding the 5 drinks we didn't ordered back to their credit card... I'll still remember the good memories I had there. All the other awesome bartenders and the drinks and that time. The one New Year's Eve I was there and the boss who gave us a bottle of champagne .. and ya, those times are gone for now, unless you, the boss learn how to do your business again! read more

This is my favorite place to play pool. $4 flat for the whole night per person. Cheap pool, cheap drinks, better than decent tables, also if you're lucky you might get to meet the owners doggo. What's not to love? Also the bartender, Mel, and chill af. They used to have league but I recently saw they were only open 3 hours a day which broke my heart a little bit. Hope they're doing ok. This'll go back to being my hangout place when they get regular hours again which hopefully will be soon! read more

Last night was my first experience at q & brew, and frankly I was suprised. The building is located in the far corner of the sketchy parking lot by yucca, and needless to say, I was a bit apprehensive. It's definitely not a "looker" inside but it was a lot cleaner than I expected. The pool tables were actually in really good condition and it seems like the owners actually care about the place. The service, while friendly, was a little slow but nothing bad. Overall we had a great time shooting some pool here and I would come again. read more

Cheap booze! Cheap booze! Oh, did I say Cheap booze! What an awesome Dive-Pool Bar! This place has a huge number of pool tables to play. The night that I went, there was a pool league playing, so the place was full of true pool player. And THEN... there was the group that I met. We occupied 2 tables in the back and made a constant beeline to the bar where I was so happy to discover that the drinks were extremely cheap. I'm big on hanging out, terrible at pool, so I took up refuge at the bar. I don't remember the bartender's name, but shout-out to one of the bad-assed coolest bartenders I've come across. She was so cool and down to earth. I love a bartender that likes to talk since I like to talk too. I had 2 or 3 cocktails for less than $10 on a Wed night. Life couldn't be sweeter! I recommend that you order your drinks and let the bartender hold on to your credit card so you pay the credit card fee only once. I'm not a fan of juke boxes, but they have a CRAZY jukebox in there for music. Bring a pocket full of coins. You'll have fun just selecting the music. I NEVER would have gone to this place if I'd just judged it from the "outside looking in", but I have a friend who goes there every week because of the cheap drinks on Wed and I'm happy I went there. I'm not a serious pool player. In fact, I'm probably the worst pool player to ever pick up a pool cue. With that in mind, I still enjoyed my time at Q & Brew. The drinks are cheap and the bartenders are great. Plus, Wednesday is Ladies Night, so my group got to play for free on the smaller tables. Great place to hang out and play pool with friends. Also nice to walk into a bar that there isn't a bunch of different sports channels playing on the 500 TV sets. What a little gem of a place. If you are afraid of harsh lighting, stay away from this place. I'm serious; the lighting is fluorescent and it will enhance every flaw you have. Don't go here on a first date; just sayin'. Apart from that, though, this place is really cool. It's cheap, there are plenty of pool tables, a cute little patio for smokers, and the bartender on weekends (Angela? Andrea? Something like that) is pretty awesome. For whatever reason, there is a twelve inch Urkel doll behind the bar, which is amazing. They also offer an Irish tequila (?!?!) that's two bucks a shot. Can't beat that, right? read more

Oh man, I'm not sure I'd refer to this place as a gem as Aero F did, but I suppose it serves its purpose in getting people drunk and providing a spot to play pool that doesn't charge the ridiculous prices of Cue Club up the street. The whole place makes you feel a little bit dirty as you get your drink on. No windows, that freaky fluorescent lighting, and just a generally run down feeling complement CHEAP drinks ($1.75 strong wells and beers) and free pool every day from 3-6p. If you want to work on your pool game like I need to do, and don't mind feeling like a weirdo for not having a confederate flag on your shirt like I didn't, then go to Q and Brew and get hammered and play pool. One last thing - bring some dolla bills, because there is NO music on unless someone rocks the Jukebox. read more

This is not a place to pick up chicks. ~Perhaps that's why I love going there as a chick. I don't want to get picked up or deal with a bunch of drama. I can have long conversations with my friends (quiet enough to hear each other), and it's the perfect place to go if you're not feeling it at Yucca Tap (just walk across the parking lot). Also... $3.50 a person for the entire night of pool. $11 pitchers of beer. Went there last night with a friend and we had a really great time! It was a fair price, $4 a night for one person, after 6! You can't beat that. We are defiantly going back tomorrow! Q and Brew is another Tempe institution, and for good reason. While everything and everyone else changes, they stick to the same old thing, and in this case it's good. This is a large pool hall with a well stocked bar, and lots of room. Drinks are cheap and the pour is always strong! Bartenders are amazing and pleasant to chat with. They have some random snacks but nothing too substantial. Also, there are pool league nights and free pool from 3 to 6pm. This is a great place to spend a weeknight with some friends or shoot pool on a Saturday night, definitely include Q and Brew on your bar hopping list! read more

In fact, you will more then likely see me here. people are friendly and are quick to play anyone that comes through the door. No, not for money just to keep everything fun. I Love this place. No, I mean I REALLY love this place! A lot!!!! So much in fact, that before their convection oven broke, I used to go there just for jalapeno poppers and chicken strips at the drop of a hat. WARNING! It's a dive bar. Meaning that you might see duct tape, maybe plywood, perhaps some water damage on the ceiling. What makes up for that are the GREAT bartenders. Not to mention the inexpensive drinks, the huge selection of top shelf liquor, the bajillion pool tables, the decent juke box, and the fact that if it's not packed, the bartender will even let you watch pretty much whatever you want on the TV behind the bar. This place is legit. Straight-up dive pool hall. And I LOVE it. I came here with a friend for the first time last week to shoot some pool. The place was pretty busy and it seemed to have a good amount of regulars. One guy even offered to help us out since it was our first time there. Get here early if you want a 8-foot table. Best part - to get a rack for a table is only $3 for the entire night! We showed up around 10 and since the tables were taken, we jumped on a 7 foot table and played a few. This has become my new place to play pool. They have 9 9ft table, which is the only way to play. The best thing was how inexpensive it was. The music was one of the highlights of the night. It went from Kenny G to Mick Jager to Barry Manilow to gangster rap to rebellion rock and on and on. There was no jukebox so I have no idea how it was that eclectic. There is a 75 cent charge with a credit card, so be sure to open a tab. read more

This place is super laid back. It's not great for craft beers, quite the opposite really so if you're a beer snob you may as well go to the yucca tap room. This place is what it is! It looks very sketchy on the outside (and the inside too) but its a great place to play pool and have a cheap beer. I would not recommend bringing any of your ASU bro friends here (if you have any?) but other than that I like the overall feel to this place. Someone already said exactly what my first line was going to be... but seriously, this place is a GEM. I've been coming here for years and love it. This place is definitely a dive bar, but it's clean and super spacious. I'd say there's about 15 tables, and you can always find one open... free pool for a couple hours every day, 50cents per game, or you can play by the hour. Cheapest drinks in town, hands down. The bartender is awesomely friendly (seriously, I LOVE her), and the owner is there every day and he is also awesome. Tons of parking, clean bathrooms, you can watch whatever you want on TV, pinball, big patio, and you feel safe. Weirdos every now and then, but where isn't there? Bright lights, but better than the flashing lights and crazy loud music and overcrowdedness down the street on Mill. Join a pool league, and tip your bartender well, please! read more

One of the best atmosphere pool halls I've been too. People are very welcoming and friendly when you enter, drinks are very reasonably priced compared to many places, I enjoy the vintage setting of games, the music selection is great, and tables are managed nicely with great prices to play. This is a very nice establishment and isn't your typical state of the art pool hall, it's a place to come hang out listen to music and shoot pool. This business is ran excellent and the bartenders are amazing and attentive. I give Q and Brew 5 stars the experience and customer is great and I recommend it. read more

Personally I believe Q and brew to be one of the best places to shoot pool in Phoenix. The tables are kept in great condition (bar size and 9 footers). The tables have plenty of room and the atmosphere is A1. 90% of the time I shoot there you can find topnotch players (not a lot of teenie boppers slamming balls around). If your looking for a game, a place to practice or a place to shoot with friends and have a good time this is the place. Also the hot dogs are really good! read more

First time playing pool at this bar...how come no one told me about this awesome place sooner! Tons of pool tables and lots of space to play in. I don't think their prices have increased since 1981! Lower your expectations before going. The online reviews are very surprising but consider the competition, you don't get a lot of choices. This bar is not fancy. This bar is not a club. Don't go here if you want hoity toity craft beers or the latest "in" cocktail.This is a bar for people who like to drink and play pool. The drinks are moderately priced and the bar tenders personable. The establishment itself is a bit on the worn side (like a comfortable armchair). The furnishings are very basic, bar, bar stools and a few cocktail tables. There is a digital jukebox and because of the wide variety of people who frequent and love the place, you will hear a wide selection of eclectic music. It has about 8 -9 bar sized tables and about 4 -5 full size tables. Pool is free starting at 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. 7 days a week on the bar tables. The tables are in good condition having been recently refurbished. There is a wide selection of cues (some in better repair than others) that the management routinely also repairs, or replaces if unusable. I have never found a cue missing a tip although some tips are worn and a few cues may be warped. The bathrooms are functional and generally clean. And quite frankly these are the areas of the bar that could use the most attention. However, they really aren't as bad as some of the bathrooms i have encountered on ASU's campus or at the local Target. Let me reiterate this is a bar for people who want to relax, don't want a club scene, want to drink and talk with friends, play some pool, enjoy some interesting music, enjoy chatting with some great bartenders, enjoy some good, fairly priced drinks and typical bar food. If this is your idea of the ideal bar, as it is mine, then this is the place for you. read more
