Really good pizza, really fast. Loved the fluffiness of the dough for sure. Worth $16? Eh, not really if I had to wait long for it. But since I got it fast, thought it was a decent value since the flavor was really good.
Five star wood fired pizza experience. I love wood fired pizza and this is one of the best -- or even the best - I've had anywhere in NYC, LA, Seattle or Tacoma. I had the Nonna and I don't doubt that the other pies are just as good. The dough was absolute chewy perfection with the lightest crisp of crust, the sauce was redolent of fresh fresh tomatos and the sharp herbal tang of the basil was so much more THERE than it usually is. I love basil and have always been puzzled why it's so easily overwhelmed on most pizzas. Pyro also serves fresh and sparkly tasting Portland sodas which are better than most. It's located at Cartopia on Hawthorne and is absolutely some of the best cart food I've had in Portland.
Atmosphere: In the Cartopia food carts. There is ample seating and some nice fire pits here, as well as a bar where you can get some beers. One of the nicer food cart pods in Portland. Food: I find that many Neapolitan pizzas are fairly similar and hard to differentiate amongst each other. I thought this was a very good pizza which a nicely crisped crust and not too much crust (that is one issue I occasionally see with Neapolitan pizza). On taste alone, would definitely recommend. Price: I thought the price was standard for a personal-sized Margherita pizza. You can find them a little cheaper after town, but for a normal price this was a fair price. I felt full enough after eating. Service: Food truck so walk up to the counter to order and bus your own tables. Pizza took about 12 minutes to be ready. Parking: Street parking. It's not too difficult to find parking in the area.
Really great pizza and a cute location, with multiple other vendors and types of food and drink in the adjoining businesses. Our pizza had a bit of burnt crust and I loved it! Probably could have used 1-2 more minutes bake for my particular taste, but very good tasting pizza.

Talk about the perfect pie!! Impressed with the quality and awesome texture and flavor of their pizza. I loved the fast and friendly service along with the ability to do a half and half pizza so you could try two flavors! Sweet cart design and loved that they had cold water available from their drink station! One pie could be shared or just be the main meal for a single person! Priced right and a definite must try!
Absolutely the best stone fire pizza in Portland. It is a food cart at Cartopia and worth the stop! They also make in house soda's that are to die for! Highly recommend the garlic bread and the margarita!
Located in the food truck park Cartopia, Pyro Pizza serves some stellar wood-fired pizzas. You'll find nothing but simple, fresh, high-quality ingredients in these pies. Both the Margherita and fennel sausage pizzas were fantastic with their soft, chewy, blistered crusts. Slightly more crispy than a typical Neapolitan pizza, but delicious none the less. And, don't forget to try their sodas. The strawberry lemon, in particular, was really good. Lots of covered seating, but I imagine this place gets busy during peak hours.
Hands down the best wood fired pizza I've ever had! I am not normally a big pizza crust person, but this crust was so light, fluffy, and flavorful that I ended up eating it first. Great vegetarian options and decent prices. The food cart pods share a patio that included three fire pits and a heated tent area, which kept us ridiculously warm on a 48 degree evening. We would definitely go back.
Drinks: - N/A Food: - The Fennel Sausage pizza is a must get. The dough for their pizza is so soft with a slight crunch from the charing. The crust was so good, I really liked how soft it was and easy it was to eat. I didn't feel like I was doing a jaw workout eating the crust - The Margherita pizza was okay, I couldn't taste the basil very much but the texture and quality of the pizza was there for sure Ambience: - In the back of the truck there's a big firebrick pizza oven which was cool to look at and watch the employees cooking the pizza in - The woodwork on the cart is aesthetically pleasing, something about it is just so eye catching and charming Overall: This is a must get if you're in Cartopia, the portion size is perfect for one person. DO NOT DO TAKEOUT FOR THIS PLACE, the pizza's here are best enjoyed fresh. Don't let the pizza sit for too long or else the moisture collects in the center of the pizza making it a little soggy, do yourself a favor and visit this place in person and each the pizza right away. You'll thank me later for this. If you are a pizza crust enjoyer like myself then these pizzas are for you. The actual part of the pizza with the toppings is one-bitable so if you're looking for lots of toppings then you might not be satisfied with the quantity of cheese, sauce, and toppings
I love this food pod, cartopia. And pyro pizza fits right in. First time customer and I am in love with the 4 cheese za. It was oil based with garlic and blue cheese amongst others. I had the craft sodas...meh. Two people working and gave us a beeper. Love the outdoor seating. With a breeze flowing through it felt like being back in the Caribbean, beach pizza and a beer. The place looked great and had a relaxed vibe.
If pizza could talk, what would it say? Probably lots of cheesy things Pyro pizza is good there is no doubt on that , its fresh and has some good flavors .The options are not too many but they are solid . They are very good on pricing and the fresh quality ingredients are a steal. Its also quick and there is hardly more than 15 minutes of wait . I also recommend their sodas and at $4 for free refills they are a steal.
The pizza has flavorful toppings and the dough is chewy, but the actual flavor of the dough was pretty bland. I got the marinara pizza which is tomato, garlic, basil and grana padano. The garlic flavor is prominent and I loved it. The tomato sauce has good flavor too. It really was just the dough that was the let down. Looks like only one guy is working there but he was churning them out. On a Saturday around 7 there was a decent amount of people and it took about 20 minutes for me to get the pizza. You need to wait close by because they just shout your name. They don't give you a beeper like many other places.
I wanted to visit Cartopia in order to eat at Pyro and it didn't disappoint. Service was friendly and the ambience of Cartopia was chill. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and soda. I was able to try a variety of the sodas available, and the best one to me was the cola. It was bright with a complex root flavor. I liked it a lot. The pepperoni pizza had a pillowy soft crust with deliciously salty pepperonis. read more

I'm a pizza aficionado and saw these gorgeous pizzas on Yelp and stopped by. I rate a good pizza place by their margheritas. Is the most basic pizza is good, everything should follow. The prices on their website says $11 but once I was there they list them at $13 which is very high for such small personal pizza. Overall. It was fine. The dough is perfectly cooked and chewy, slightly charred on the sides however it needed a tad of salt and that lil something something was missing. It also needed more tomato sauce and perhaps basil after cooking instead of cooked together. Not very memorable Overall ok pizza but lacked that oomph. read more

Ordered an Arugula and Mushroom Pizza: the crust was well-made, and the mushrooms were a good ingredient. The fresh arugula added a nice bitter flavor. I also tried the Portland Craft Soda that they had available: in my mind, the best flavors are Cucumber Lime and Basil Lime. Service was attentive. And the ambiance was a little food cart pod. I am still amazed that they were able to fit a wood-burning oven on a food cart. read more

Portland pizza #98, on my quest to 100. And as I've gotten closer to 100, planned which the last 4 would be. So maybe expectations make disappointment easier, and that's what happened here. Had the Nonna, which is very pretty, well charred and shaped. This type of pie usually has a thicker crust, and this was on the thin side, with a saggy tip. Despite the fine cooking on the outside, the outside seemed a little under-cooked.The tomatoes were flavorful, tangy, & salty. The provolone--one of the reasons I chose this pie--had fine texture. It didn't help that the worker game me the stink eye when I interrupted his pan washing to let him know I was there. Hope pies 99 and 100 live up to my expectations. read more
I gotta say, I found myself really disappointed after eating here. Before coming I was reading about the good pizza places in Portland and the name "Pyro Pizza" came up. While in line I was texting my friend about how good it looks, and how it's located in this well known food cart pod and the line for Pyro Pizza was longer than all of the other lines for other food carts combined. And then, the pizza wasn't actually good. Something about the pictures are deceptive. Parts of the dough were very cracker-like. Other parts were doughy and pretty good. It was inconsistent though. And the sauce was pretty bad. For whatever reason, salt was the main flavor that came through for me. I know, right? I was looking for some sweetness and acidity, but didn't really get either of those flavors in the tomato sauce. And the tomato sauce was really thin too. It needed some more. If you look closely enough at the picture, I think you'll be able to tell. There were bites that didn't really have any tomato sauce/the sauce was dried out, and the dough was crackery, and those bites just tasted crackery in a bad way. The cheese wasn't great either. I'm not sure how to explain that. The little bits of basil were nice though. Good color, and perfectly crisped. I was also a little disappointed by the soda. It was advertised as "Portland Craft Soda" so I was hoping for some sort of "above and beyond" type of flavor, but I didn't get that. It just tasted like normal, mediocre soda to me. Pyro Pizza is a good, solid pizza. It's handmade and wood fired right there in the cart. The ingredients are good quality and I personally appreciate that most of the menu is vegetarian! I had the veggie Bianca and it had pretty decent flavor. The crust is hit or miss because sometimes the inner part is too wet. This one was pretty good. I think it can depend on how wet the toppings are. I think my favorite part of coming to this cart is the Portland Craft Sodas because there are usually so many interesting flavors to pick from. read more

I ordered the Arugula and Mushroom Pizza and was very happy with it. The staff was friendly and there wasn't a line but there were others waiting for their pizza. It seemed the common issue was how long the pizzas take to come out, even though they have a legitimate pizza oven. The pizza was full of flavor and the crust was great. I loved the mushroom/arugula combo and would definitely get it again. It's a decent size to share with other things or to eat it yourself. read more

The best pizza in Portland! Made my way uptown from West Linn just to try this place out and they didn't disappoint! I had their fennel sausage and veggie Blanca pies. Both were great! Wish I got a sprinkle of Parm in the veggie pie. It's a perfect combination of crunchy and chewy dough with a balance of cheese and veg. Can't wait to come back for more! read more
Went to the Cartopia location to try Chicken and Guns last time I was in Portland area. I recalled there was a pizza joint at the Cartopia. Well my family was in the mood for pizza and we decided to try Pyro Pizza based on Yelp reviews. Was not disappointed. Has that brick oven taste and fresh ingredients. If you are into craft pizzas this is your place while in Portland. We had the Arugula & Mushroom Pizza. Nice mix of fresh arugula topping to give it a nutty peppery taste and earthy tones from the fresh mushroom baked on the pizza. Rounds nicely with some acidity and sweetness from the tomatoes. We also had the Fennel and Sausage Pizza to get our meats. Nicely balanced as well with some crunch and texture from the fennel and red onions. Some mild spicy flavors that rounds out the pizza. They offer a nice collection of craft sodas that is refillable. Try it. You'll like it. read more
