Vegan pizza by the slice!! So awesome!
    Stephanie L.

Vegan Pizza by the Slice!!! I discovered Fast Times on a trip to Portland that was planned with plant-based restaurants in mind. That being said, Fast Times was not initially on my radar as they recently opened and I was lucky enough to discover them while I was there. I love the variety this pizza shop offers and was so stoked to actually be able to order a slice of pizza. It was an awesome feeling to able to order a single slice like my non-vegan friends have done over the years at shops with no options for me. There were two vegan slice options available during my visit vegan cheese and SHE - RA with vegan garlic sauce, vegan sausage, roasted red pepper, basil, and vegan mozzarella. I love everything about it and was especially impressed with the garlic sauce and how well the vegan mozzarella melted. Fast Times also offers plant-based soft serve. While the swirl was not yet available due to the restaurant still in the early stage of opening, the vanilla soft serve was absolutely amazing and the perfect sweet treat after pizza. Vegan or not, check this place out!

I was just in the area and thought I'd check out a new spot. I loved the vibe and the music. I appreciated the broad range of slice options. The staff were friendly, and the seating was comfy. My two slices were quite tasty. The crust was just shy of perfect in a way I couldn't quite put my finger on. It was wonderful crisp with a slight fluff. It was just a smidge chewier than I wanted. I loved the fun peppers flakes they had instead of the standard stuff. I have a soft spot for any and all hatch chile things from my time in Colorado. They definitely pack some beautiful heat. Would totally come back some time!

What a gem! I was really impressed by this "new" pizzeria, and when it comes to pizza, I am very picky! Great pizza, huge space, cozy patio, fun themed décor, super fun arcade. The crust was just perfect - crispy but still enjoyable to chew, light brown and cooked with no burns, as all pizzas should be. Super selection of vegan and vegetarian pies! One of the most extensive I have seen around. The place offers tons of space and privacy, with some nice booths on the left end. The patio is roomy and cozy. They even have a nice tree that hosts a funny miniature "gnome village." Worth visiting just for that! The 80s-inspired arcade is a lot of fun. I hadn't played StreetFighter2 in 20 years - had a long trail of memories popping up from that. Parking is difficult in that area. The only downside. Highly recommend!!

Sizzle pie just got a radical 80's facelift and is back and brighter than ever. Really happy this place kept the pizza theme as its the go to for late nights on SE Burnside. Theres arcades, 80's music, small toy windows, and just about everything from the 80's you can imagine here. The cocktail menu is also really clever with names too. I got the EctoCooler with its signature green color and orange slice which was delicious. The pizza is also themed after movies. Got a slice of Children of the Corn and happy to say the corn amount was top notch. Their grand.opening had killer deals on full pizzas and on Sunday a synthwave band played a show. There was plenty of space and cozy booths to sit in. Heres looking forward to more to come from the latest retro pizza spot in town!

We were on foot, mid-afternoon in the neighborhood, and looking for something quick and good. Fast Times came through on both accounts. One of the many pandemic downsides seems to have been that fewer pizza places are open at lunch time. I'm happy to be able to add another place to my list of spots that are open mid-day. My wife had a very nice slice with mushrooms, sausage, and spinach. I went with classic cheese, and both of us were happy with our choices. Service was exactly what I hoped for - friendly and fast. The ambience is just right for a by-the-slice establishment - dark walls with large colorful artwork, and a few pinball machines adding an additional splash of color. It's great to know that this kind of place still exists.

This place took over the old Sizzle Pie spot off Burnside. The interior layout is pretty much the same with some addition of arcades and pinball machines. It had the late 80s vibes with some retro pictures that brings me back to childhood. I had a quick slice of pepperoni pizza before my next event. It was a decent slice and $1 off because it was happy hour. I need to try the soft serve next time I visit.

They serve pizza till 4AM, need I say more. But it's actually good perfect after the club meal. Pizza is not greasy, crust is perfectly cooked and not thick or too thin. Great selection of vegetarian, vegan, and meat pies. Absolutely, will return and tell others or bring others. It is also a great hang out spot too.

Fast Times is the latest creation from Sizzle Pie co-founder Matt Jacobson. It's even housed in the original location of Sizzle Pie on East Burnside Street. Similarly, the menu has sections dedicated to meat pies, vegetarian pies, & vegan pies. I ordered delivery via DoorDash last evening. I tried the Goonies Never Die (olive oil, vegan chicken, vegan mozzarella, red onion, pineapple, jalapeno, bbq sauce) & the Just Like Heaven (red sauce, vegan ricotta, finished with olive oil, basil, & sea salt). Both pies were perfectly cooked & $28 for an 18-inch pizza in Portland these days feels like a bargain. I look forward to trying more of Fast Times' vegan offerings, including a selection of four salads with vegan ranch. They also offer vegan ice cream for those who like sweets. Welcome to the neighborhood, Fast Times!

First time order, but won't be the last. 12 in. Spiccoli add mushrooms & basil. It was GREAT! Crust, red sauce, amounts of topping, ALLL of it. I'm pleasantly amazed.

New York and Chicago are still trying to catch up. But we are in the Pacific Northwest, nowhere near Loui's Pizza or Buddy's Pizza (Detroit pizza staples). So many times, what tries to pass off as "Detroit style" falls miles short. Then came "Ranch" where I stood outside and screwed up enough courage to try yet another Detroit style pizza. The interior was small, one wall lined with tomato sauce cans, the menu was bolted to a wall. The smell took me back and that gave me some hope. The pizza arrived at the table, the wife and I have varied tastes so we each ordered a quarter pizza. Mine was pepperoni, the wife had a veggie. The pizzas looked right, square, caramelized crispy edges, heavy toppings... and then on the side of the plate was this cup of ranch dressing. Duh! "Ranch" obviously has to have a good ranch, right? I dipped my pinky finger in the ranch and took a taste. You would not think one ranch can be so far ahead of the others, but ranch is the place for ranch, as well as pizza. My first bite brought a smile to my face, it was just, right in every way that a Detroit pie should be. I have been back to try their #4 pie with sausage and ricotta, and I am looking forward to more trips. If you're in or planning to be in Portland, Oregon, I respectfully and enthusiastically recommend you include Pizza Kat in your considered alternatives. A thin, flexible, and tasty-all-by-itself crust. Tomato sauce that adroitly walks the lines between sweet and acidic, and between supporting the other elements well, fading into obscurity, and overwhelming those other elements. The right amounts of the right cheeses. And fresh, tasty toppings. (Sweet Italian sausage not dominated by garlic and mushrooms worth eating on their own, for two delicious examples.) Even better, prices are reasonable, and delivery is available. We had some delivered to our hotel, and it arrived almost as hot and tasty as we would have expected were we at a table near the ovens. There are other pizzas worth eating -- including the thicker-crust "deep cut" slices available before and after select shows at Revolution Hall. Unfortunately, this was both our first and last visit. I don't think I've ever disliked a pizza before, but this may be the first one I would genuinely call bad. I enjoy wood-fired pizza and don't mind a little char, but somehow this pizza tasted noticeably bitter despite having very little visible charring. Whether it was the lack of sauce, the sauce itself being quite bland, or simply an imbalance of flavors, the end result just wasn't pleasant. The biggest issue is the value. A $25 cheese pizza doesn't need to be life-changing, but it should at least taste better than Costco's. In this case, unfortunately, it didn't. If your goal is to enjoy great pizza, I'd recommend one of the many other pizza spots in the area instead.

We have had repeated issues specifically with takeout orders, over many years. Additionally, if you dine-in, there is an entire bottle of oil on the table that you are encouraged to use on your pizza. It is delicious, and really completes the pizza flavor profile! They used to automatically include two small containers of oil per pizza if you ordered to-go. Current policy appears to be to not include any oil with the pizza (unless explicitly asked) and to only provide a maximum of two oils (even if multiple pizzas are ordered). I don't know if there is an oil shortage or what, but this is silly for a place that charges so much for their pizza. Life of Pie is a typical Portland restaurant that expects you to tip before you receive your food (and also expects you to bus your own table). To me, this expectation alongside with the inconsistency of the food for the price, is disappointing, and does not encourage people to go out of their way to return. When the food is good it is a solid place, however I would expect much more consistency for the price they command.
