FIRST TIME - BEST PDX PIZZA! I saw a guy loading up huge tubs of fresh organic lettuce from Sunrise Farms at the Wednesday farmers market in Shemanski Park, South Park Blocks, near Arlene Schnitzer theatre. I guessed he must be a chef buying for his restaurant. Yup - Darby is one of two chef/owners of Pizza Thief on NW 26th ST and NW Vaughn ST, Alphabet District. We chatted briefly. I was delighted to hear he buys mostly "ALL" organic and local NW for his pizza place. Gotta go! Two days later my wife and I showed up for lunch. We ordered the market salad loaded with farm fresh organic veggies and the Sunrise oak leaf lettuce. The salad presentation was so colorful (carrots, radishes, green beans, snap peas, pickled asparagus, chives, sheep mile feta) looking like a Claude Monet painting. Big hearty salad tossed in a big bowl. Ya, edible art! So delish with scratch made green goddess dressing. Order a whole pizza or by the slice - which we did. Wife went for a "Vegan Special" slice with tomato sauce, roasted mushrooms, piquillo peppers, kale, mustard greens, Calabrian chili-garlic oil, and Sicilian oregano. I had "Hot Tony" with tomato sauce, pepperoni, schiacciata salami,  calabrian-chili, piquillo peppers, jalapeño mozz-provolone, fior di latte, grana, and sicilian oregano. The pizza looked like abstract art too and was delish. Perfect dough, cooked completely through and not soggy, crispy crunchy crust and slice loaded up with farm fresh ingredients. Sourdough fermented pie is also local and organic NW Camas Mill (what the top pizza places in Portland use) with whole grains. We've been to James Beard award winning or nominated PDX pizza places like Ken's, Lovely Fifty Fifty, Nostrana and Mozza (LA) - throw in other good PDX pizza like Oven & Shaker, Mount Hood brewing and APizza Scholls too - Pizza Thief is in this best pizza in Portland conversation but - but - but - the local NW farm fresh ingredient moved my pizza needle - Pizza Thief to the top of my "OH MY" list. Oh my - I love this pizza! I love supporting local farms, especially organic or pesticide free farmers, who are growing product good for my health - good for the soil - good for the environment. Pizza Thief lives up to the hype. We got the Valley girl, which was absolutely delicious. It's one of their vegetarian pizzas with a basil pesto cream instead of the regular house, and the toppings went very well with it. It was savory and filling You can also order by the slice if you want to try this one first or another one. This was our first time so we decided to go for it since I love pesto, and it did not disappoint. If you like your spice I definitely suggest getting the Calabrian chili dip on the side. Delicious thin crust pizza. My friends and I split a whole pie, we each ate two slices and took home 2 slices which was a better deal. We tried to get a whole pie of the seasonal one but understandable they were limited on ingredients so we got the Woodland - which is their mushroom pizza, not red sauce based. We were recommended the Calabrian chili garlic sauce. It was two extra dollars, but did not disappoint as a pairing for the mushroom pizza. Too full for the ice cream, but it appeared to be made in the store and had some fun flavors. They have a fair amount of seating inside. And they also have a patio, which is unheated but is covered and you were able to bring the dog. read more

A soft crust pizza that's cooked perfectly! They have a bunch of different pizzas but only serve what you see in the display. I got a classic cheese pizza and it was yummy! The slices are decent sized. My friend and I shared their Caesar salad which was made with kale. We honestly weren't too sure about it at first but it worked so well. The dressing was perfectly sour. Pizza Thief was the best spot I had in Portland, OR. It's so hard to find a good pizza in my opinion, especially thin crust, but Pizza Thief proved that it can be done right. The restaurant is really comfortable and cozy. Despite the menu offered, they only offer slices that's in the box. I had the Pepperoni, the crust was so thin and crispy. The cheese and pepperoni complimented the side of Calabrian chili sauce wonderfully. I also had another slice that came with hot honey--I don't remember the name, but also delicious. The bites with honey complimented the chili sauce perfectly! They also had sandwiches on the menu and dessert which unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to try. I was briefly in Portland and went to a pizza spot that I knew had some delicious slices. The seasonal pesto slcies were our favorite, but their cheese is pretty great too. This time for some reason the wildeood pizza wasn't quite as great as I remembered it and I didn't really like the cannoli much, but the cookie was delicious and their ranch dressing here is superb as well! In Portland for a visit and a local friend brought me here for dinner. It was amazing! The Hot Tony and Wildwood pizzas are solid, always on rotation to order pizzas. A solid dinner. During a work trip to the NW Montgomery Park area, found a great pizza spot. Pizza Thief, as you walk into the building you are greeted by a very friend staff. The interior is very causal and inviting, there is an attached walk way to an attached bar. To place your order, you line up and then queue to the main counter, to your left they have a large display case of the various pizza types, you can order them by slice or a whole pie. The menu board is easy to read, you really need to try the various dipping sauces, they have a small charge for them, my favorite the Ranch is amazing, enjoy the others. I ordered the Kevin Pepperoni slice, I really love the small Pepperoni, its a nice large slice of pizza, it takes a few min to heat up your pizza, they will call your name once its ready. They offer a variety of drinks both alcoholic and regular drinks. The pizza was amazing, very flavorful, cheesy and a nice crust, again the dipping sauces are a must. If you enjoy the outdoors, they have a nice covered area with bench style seating. It was very clean, bright and inviting business. I cannot wait to visit again. read more

They have gluten free options and alcoholic beverage choices if either are your thing. But the best thing is that, yes, they do serve Coca-Cola products! My food recs are below: * Caesar: This is made with kale and is sprinkled with garlic focaccia crumbs. I highly recommend it because it pairs perfectly with a slice of your choice. * Wildwood: I love mushrooms and this is an excellent mushroom pizza! I'm definitely getting this again! * Highway 99: I didn't try this one personally but my friends were raving about it so figured I'd include it on my food recs. They said the braised pork shoulder is so delicious. It's a seasonal item so I'll definitely come back again (before it's gone) to try it for myself! Parking was a little scarce but not a huge problem. We went on a Sunday at 2pm. There was ample seating (and we were a party of 6). It's worth noting that after we ordered and took our seats, a big rush came through. However, the line moved rather quickly so don't feel discouraged. If you stop in around dinner time, expect a wait - even for one slice, which was all I wanted. It's "short order service" with one line to order at one register, so if a family of 6 has a big order ahead of you - it adds some time. Many options for slices, even vegan. I got the "hot tony" which lives up to its name. The toppings felt scarce for $6.50, especially for such a small slice. While tasty, it left more to be desired. I paid $4.50 for a small, glass coke - which might be the most I've paid anywhere in town for that size. I'll say the staff seemed nice, and they had a lot of people. Pizza: TBH, I feel that the Pizza Thief robbed me a bit on overall flavor. I got a plain cheese and pepperoni, as one should for judging. The plain cheese left me underwhelmed. The sauce has a nice herbaceous tone, but I really wish it had more tang and brightness. The flavor on the cheese was mid as well. The pep slice added nice flavor. The stracciatella sandwich was great and was recommend. Same with the delicious jalapeno cheese bread made fresh to order! Kale Caesar was pretty good as well. Overall, a good pizza spot, maybe not one of my top in the Portland area. I wouldn't discourage anyone from going, but I'm not screaming mug that you need to go either. Came in on Memorial Day around 12:30, pretty fast counter ordering and I love the buzzer so that we could wait outside at the ample sidewalk seating without hovering to listen for my name. I got the GF seasonal pie and was totally impressed!! It's my new go-go for pizza cravings. The crust was squishy on the inside and crusty on the outside, and the flavors were light but rich and savory at the same time. We also got a vegan slice, which my partner said the crust was good but the red sauce was on the spicy side. We have yet to try the GF chocolate cake but it's sweetly packaged up to-go with the condiments on the side. Overall a tasty great no-fuss pizza experience! My friend ordered a beer and they didn't tell us that you had to pick it up at the bar next door so when we were waiting and didn't get the beer with the food, we asked about it and was met with a snarky "it's at the bar".
