Such an easy place to throw a birthday party! No cleanup at your own house - what could be better? We did my 5 year olds party here and it was awesome. Jessica was super helpful and easy to communicate with pre-party helping to plan the perfect schedule and answering all of my questions. Veronica was amazing day of the party - she was so fun, the kids loved her and she was so organized as well. She did glitter tattoos and helped the morning go smoothly. Would definitely recommend. We had about 26 kids and 30ish adults. Felt cozy, but totally fine in the space. No alcohol allowed and parking is a bit tricky, but otherwise perfection. You can bring in any other food or beverages you want though they can also handle everything for you!

We celebrated our son's first birthday here and everything was wonderful. We had great communication with the owner Jessica before the party and during the party, Veronica took care of everyone and everything. Veronica made sure to keep us on track while still having fun and not feeling rushed. Thank you so much for helping us celebrate our son's birthday worry-free!

One of the best play spaces in Chicago (they have a new location). We have been to both locations multiple times for birthday parties (we operate an entertainment company- Happy Kids Chicago, Inc). We have always had really good experiences with the staff. They have been always able to accommodate all of our requests. Space is clean, well maintained and has multiple age appropriate toys for the children. The owner Jessica has great communication skills and is always on top of everything regarding the spaces. I would totally throw my child's party at their location.

I attended my niece bday party here. This is a nice party venue for a kid. I didn't have anything to do with the planning of the party so I can't tell you what all was included in there services but I was a witness to a very professional and helpful staff. Street parking was a little hard to find as well.

Purple Monkey Playroom staff and toys are amazing!!! I had my son's first birthday party here and it did not disappoint. The children loved it as the adults relaxed and engaged in conversation. If you know of anyone looking for a venue for a child's party please feel free to use my code (SPARKLEHOPE) to save $100 off. For more details see the attached flyer.

There is a lot of active movement, which is great considering we are staying inside for much of the time. By the end of the class, we have danced, jumped, sang, done sign language, learned about instruments and animals and our ABCs and all kinds of things. When she declared she was getting her very own "super girly" party this year I suggested an American Girl (her current obsession) Tea Party. She loved the idea so I did a bit of research on who hosted the best tea parties in town...and came across Mrs. Newberry's Traveling Tea Party. Mrs. Newberry is running quite the operation. She arrived hours before our party w/ her tea truck (no joke) full of gorgeous china, chairs, tables, unicorns (yes, unicorns) and more. Within hours she turned my kitchen into a gorgeous tea parlor that made my daughter exclaim "oh my goodness" and jump up and down for the entire day. And if that's not enough to excite a 6 year old she brings dozens of gowns, hats, and jewels for the girls to dress up in before they sit down for tea. Tea is a favorite pasttime of mine (Peninsula anyone?) and Mrs Newberry gave these girls quite the intro. While enjoying a cup of delish tea (aka: fruit juice) they stuffed their faces with pizza bagels, cupcakes, muffins, cookies, candy, cheese, fruit and more birthday cake (the only thing I actually had to provide). Delicious tea & food is only part of the fun. Mrs. Newberry read some adorable books, including our favorite Fancy Nancy, and had very engaging conversation with the girls. She had complete control of 26 mostly kindergarteners- even my 3 yr old son was mesmerized by her "show." She ended the "par-tea" with a craft project that I thought was a bit too easy for the girls (stickers on pumpkins and bats in honor of Halloween), but then again that's probably all they could sit thru after all the sugar. My only mistake was not sending the kids home after 1.5 perfect hours with Mrs. Newberry because when it was my turn to take over (which basically involved setting them loose in my basement) it was complete chaos. I had worried when I booked her that 1.5 hours wouldn't be enough, but like everything else Mrs. Newberry knows best. I only wish I could hire Mrs. Newberry to come entertain my kids every weekend....she truly is a real life Mary Poppins.

I love that it's a mixture of structured and unstructured play, which is the perfect fit for our kiddo. It's been amazing to see what skills he has picked up from class. All of the coaches we've had have been wonderful (shoutout to Anna, Daniel, and Vanessa). Every week they have a theme and focus on different skills and give you ideas of what to do at home to continue the theme. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Even without that nice perk, it was still a great place to take our son. They cover a large range of ages, and his first class was when he was little under a year and a half and couldn't quite walk yet. At that young, it's mostly teaching them how to listen to instructions, play on the equipment and tumble around. He was a little too young to directly socialize with the other kids but still had a blast. For younger ones parents are expected to be in the class with their child so be sure to keep that in mind. They often have "Parents Night Out" events where kids can be dropped off for an evening, but your boy was too young for those. Probably the best thing about Little Gym is how flexible they are with make up classes. Kids get sick, vacations come up, etc. and the make up system is really simple - basically as long as you let them know you're missing a class before it starts, you get a make up class in the bank that you can use. Since there are multiple instances of a class running in a week you just need to find a day that works for you and can use up those classes whenever. The staff here is great and the classes are always well structured. We'll definitely miss taking our little one but hopefully this can get others to take a trial class here.

She wanted one that looked just like her. A very nice salesperson helped us and gave her many options. There is a salon and so many different rooms. Make sure to make a salon reservation ahead of time. I made that mistake. I did know to make a Lunch reservation at the cafe. It was delightful! But my friends have had two separate birthday brunches here and you know what I'm not mad about it??? You got four courses for $38??? And you get to bring your own doll BYOD! I brought my own, of course, and she has a backpack......They always start you off with the cinnamon rolls, which are very flaky but good. If I was a child, I would eat 10 of these, but they only give you one. Then they give you this tea service ask plate with a variety of strange appetizers. For example, meatballs, fried ravioli and hummus bites. Very random, but that's OK. There is something for everyone at the American girl doll store. For my main on both times that I've been here I've had the quiche with the side salad. Look, I'll be honest it's a really good quiche. It's a quiche I would seek out if it wasn't at the American girl doll store. Finally, you finish with dessert, which is normally chocolate mousse, but if you're celebrating a birthday, you get the chocolate and vanilla cake with a side of ice cream with rainbow sprinkles. The cake actually isn't that good but the ice cream is. You also get a free nonalcoholic beverage! Look even as an adult I think this is a funny side quest or bit and like I said, the food is actually good. Yet again, another win for capitalism.

I've seen Fit City Kids, having lived fewer than two miles away, but this was our first visit and it was great. The entrance fee wasn't bad, especially since one can stay for the full open play time. They have several different areas for play. There is a basketball court area, a play soccer field, gymnastics space, and an indoor playground. There's also a small area that is specifically designed for children aged three and under, although we were told that kids can play in any section (except for the bounce house, which is for the private parties). Our one year olds mostly played in the soccer area, having fun just running around. There's one half of the place where you can wear shoes or not (the basketball/soccer areas) and then in the other half you may not wear shoes. There are one or more party rooms in the back of the facility. (I'm not sure if they overlap parties or not; there were four happening on the day we were here.) Food is not permitted in the facility except for in the party rooms or in the front "lobby" area. They have a few snacks for sale, and based upon the water I bought for my babe the prices don't seem ridiculous. I really appreciate that they don't appear to have any restrictions on bring your own snacks and water, just asking that you respect the areas in which you can eat them. They don't have a water fountain (unless I just wasn't looking in the right places) so bring your own drinks. One downside is that I found only one changing station in the entire place. Don't look for it in the women's room (or probably the men's room, either, I'd expect) but in the individual gender neutral bathroom. With the number of children who might be here at any time and the age ranges they welcome, I was really surprised to see just the one. On the other hand, it was an actual changing table rather than a station that is bolted into the wall and folds down, which always make me a little nervous. They also don't have much space for parents to sit. There are some tables in the "lobby" and a few benches outside the various play areas, but it might be difficult for someone who needs a chair/seat, or someone who's disabled, especially if they want to be closer to the activity areas and keep an eye on their children. Another thing they need to work on is the parking lot. Their parking lot is really large, especially for Lincoln Square--and it's free!--so that's all to the good. Ideally they'd have straight parking spaces since that allows for the most spots; the lot is a bit narrow, so they've opted for diagonal with a few straight. But they need to paint the lot! Driving through this lot was difficult because people parked like they've never parked before. We will definitely return. There are several indoor playgrounds around and I'd like to try the different ones that offer entrance to kids as young as mine in part so we can figure out which are our favorites. But after my experience here I imagine we may be purchasing a membership in the future.

At the entrance, they have tables/chairs and many cubbies for shoes/coats. Make sure you have socks as shoes must be removed in most of the play areas. A waiver needs to be filled out in order to participate. I liked that you could do a paper version, use a tablet, or scan a QR code and do it on your phone. That helped the line move fast! They have a little toddler section, a basketball court, soccer area, gymnastics area, and slides! So, there's something for littles and the big kids...and they are sectioned off. There are benches in between all areas for parents/grownups to sit. The party room has an area to set up food and then the area with tables. I loved that it was a private event. I'm assuming this is an available option after hours, as this party was at 7PM. My daughter had so much fun and wants to have a party there now. If we were in the area, we'd love to check out their classes and other offerings. They also have a free parking lot which is a huge plus in the city!
