You have no idea how grateful I was to hear that. He gave me two time options, and called me when he was on the way. I had no idea how much water had made its way into my flooring, so I was preparing myself for the worst. Turns out, it didn't end up being a catastrophe! Matthew used a thermal camera, and a moisture meter to inspect for moisture on the floor/subfloor and flex ducting. Once again, he was thorough at his job, and in his communication. It's difficult finding people that take pride in their work, are trustworthy, and do a great job. And it was amazing to see the difference between what an honest company like Restorion sends the insurance company vs a dishonest company, which is what I had to deal with a few years prior. Also very helpful to have the water mitigation people also be the restorer, otherwise so many derails can be lost between the two companies. The restorer won't know what the basement looked like beforehand and that can lead to gaps. Also for dishonest companies I think they use the two separate companies to juice their returns and to do less restoring work.

The crawlspace hadn't been touched for over 25 years, so there were problems with broken air ducts and leaking pipes, all of which were replaced efficiently over those 2 days. We found a pipe that was leaking into the crawlspace from the floor above, and that was replaced also; it was a relief not to have to get an outside plumber in to take care of it. We had water damage in our basement that had been dried by another company. The night before floor…read morecontractors were scheduled to come to our home, David cold-called us about replacing the flooring. He was able to come out that evening to provide an estimate, which we appreciated and accepted. We later discovered that this visit resulted in an after-hours charge of nearly $500, something we were not aware of at the time. While at our home, David discovered that some areas had not been completely dried by the first company. Because we had an active insurance claim, and with our permission, he immediately arranged for his crew to continue the drying process. At first, we felt he was knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely focused on our needs. Our insurance company requested that a third party inspect and confirm some of the issues David had identified. David insisted on being present during that inspection. The situation was uncomfortable, and we were later surprised to see an additional $119 charge for his involvement. Five days later, we contacted the original company about their failure to completely dry the affected areas. They acknowledged the issue, wanted to make things right, and asked for the opportunity to earn our business back. We therefore notified Green Planet that we were ending their services. Unfortunately, this is when our experience changed considerably. The tone and attitude toward us became harsh and uncomfortable. Although we had understood that the mitigation work would be handled through our insurance claim, we were suddenly told the bill needed to be paid by us immediately. We were also contacted by a collections company and told that if the bill wasn't paid by Friday, a lien would be placed on our home. We were disappointed by the way the situation was handled. Our initial impression was that customer needs were the priority, but once we decided not to continue using the company, we felt the relationship changed dramatically. Our experience is ultimately a reminder to carefully review all charges and understand the payment terms before allowing work to begin--especially when insurance is involved. Updated Review -- Originally 2 Stars We initially left a 2-star review because of our experience with Green Planet during a water-damage situation. We had significant concerns about several charges on our invoice, the handling of our insurance claim, and the way our relationship changed after we decided not to continue with the company. After seeing our reviews, Green Planet reached out to us and asked for the opportunity to make things right. We had a lengthy conversation, they listened to our concerns, and they offered to refund $500, which represents the charges we had disputed. I appreciate that the company was willing to listen and take action. Because they made an effort to address our concerns, I have changed our rating from 2 stars to 3 stars. That said, I do want to be honest that this resolution came only after we had posted our concerns publicly. We had previously tried to resolve the issues directly, including asking the company to work with us while our insurance claim was being processed, but we did not feel heard at that point. I'm glad we were eventually able to have a productive conversation and reach a financial resolution. My hope is that Green Planet will take this experience to heart and improve communication with customers from the beginning--especially when dealing with stressful situations involving water damage and insurance. Review We had a…read moresection of rotten siding and a sill plate uncovered that was supporting our garage wall and potentially posed a structural concern, since the wall was also retaining part of the roof. The Rot Doctor did an excellent job from start to finish. They carefully removed the rotten siding, boards, and supports while temporarily supporting the wall, then installed a new pressure-treated sill, water-resistant siding, flashing, and belly band, with everything properly caulked and sealed. The workmanship was very high quality. All the cuts were precise, with clean lines, no gaps, and everything felt sturdy and well-built. They also went above and beyond by replacing and reinforcing some warped supports that weren't originally part of the scope. They were experienced and clearly knew how to approach the job, and they were great to work with throughout. Communication and customer service were excellent--we were able to discuss the work as it progressed and adjust the scope when needed. They were punctual, worked efficiently, and completed the entire job in just three days. The pricing was also competitive. Overall, we're very satisfied with the work and would definitely recommend The Rot Doctor.

Green…read moreState used an unregistered contractor for unlawful electrical and plumbing work, without pulling permits or having inspections, and then incorrectly told us they weren't needed. And that's just the beginning of our problems with them. We haven't been able to use our master shower in 7 months because they caused a leak just before Thanksgiving of 2025, and they haven't fixed it. Our Christmas photos have 3 large, beautiful holes in the ceiling, above our tree. And their contractor left our jetted tub in a hazardous state, without GFCI electrical protection, and we've been told not to use it for our own safety. You can see they've been cited for multiple issues - the state provides a tool to verify contractors, here: https://secure.lni.wa.gov/verify/ Their tile installer did extremely poor-quality work. Like jagged breaks in glass accents, wandering tile cuts, edge pieces not lining up, grout in the wrong places, and lots more. The account manager and project manager reviewed his work and said it was industry standard. Literally, they looked at this big, jagged piece of glass glopped in with grout (among tons of other problems, large and small) and told me it's industry standard work and they wouldn't fix it. Not joking. It makes more sense when you hear that: - the account manager is the son of the project manager, - the project manager hired his son-in-law for the tile work, - the son-in-law had been in business less than 6 months, So, he did bad work which they defended. There are actual industry standards, and I read them, and his work definitely doesn't meet them. And then, still, the tile guy installed the underlying waterproofing incorrectly. It's incomplete, it's incorrect, and it doesn't follow manufacturer instructions. He made our shower curb flat instead of angled to drain water, so we ended up with standing water, growing mildew, on top of incomplete waterproofing. The repair they proposed, I discovered, would have been incorrect and not manufacturer approved, too. And then Green State told us we'd have to pay to fix it some of it. They say they have a workmanship warranty, but they ignored requests to warranty their work. So, to recap, they hired an inexperienced in-law who did bad work, asked us to pay to fix their bad work, then refused their warranty. Then there's the hole into our attic they made around September 2025, told us was fixed multiple times, then come to find out they hadn't, so they finally fixed it at the end of January 2026. Or that they fabricated our new countertop wrong, so there's a gap between the side splash and the wall. Or that they didn't seal it with silicone either so water can go straight back to the wall... So, like I said: Stay. Away.

First of all, they were able to fit us in on New Year's Eve which was only 2 days after we originally got in contact with them. All other companies we talked to were 2-3 weeks out. Not to mention, they were the most affordable of all the companies we contacted. Max came to our home to do the work and was incredible the whole time. He answered all my questions, kept me up to date on what he found, and even fixed a vent pipe we didn't know was broken for no extra charge. He was in and out in about 2.5 hours and got us the final report by end of day. I would 100% recommend Green State Restoration to anyone who needs cleanup and mitigation. They are fabulous!
