Went in on a Saturday morning, was definitely busy, but the line moved quickly! Ordered a Strawberry Cheesecake Muffin, Iced Mocha Latte, and a Sausage Breakfast Sandwich. I also bought some packaged beans to take home. Everything was delicious. I am really wanting to know how they do their crumble on the muffins so I can replicate it at home I was pleasantly surprised with the breakfast sandwich, it was much larger than I expected, and so much flavor 10/10. Just happens that Purebred Coffee, was turning 8 years old. So they had free cookies and scones which were delicious! Coffee was great, pure not super sweet coffee (which I love) I did see that you could add added agave syrup or cane sugar available for you. I hate leaving poor reviews for small businesses, but my recent experience was frustrating. I have been to Purebread a handful of times, and this most recent time was the last time I will go. There was only one visitor ahead of me (so not crowded at all) and I ordered 2 shots of espresso over ice, with a little macadamia milk as creamer, and some lavender syrup thrown in. The price was ridiculous- over $6. I then had to wait almost 20 min for my drink. and then when I went up to get it, the barista greeted me with the line "we aren't going to do this again." Very scolding and clearly annoyed. I said i won't be coming back so he won't have to worry about it again. He then proceeded to hand me 3 different cups.... my entire order deconstructed. lol. I stood there and dumped it all into one cup and then had to throw away 2 perfectly good to-go cups and lids bc they didn't just put my order into one cup. The barista was clearly annoyed with my order, and took it out on me instead of speaking to whoever took the order. I didn't ask for a deconstructed latte lol. Lastly, the coffee was very bitter and I couldn't taste the homemade lavender syrup at all. Just a bad experience and i won't be returning. read more

Looking forward to picking up some fireside beans on my winter excursion thru Troy but very much enjoying the Lopez beans that ya'll recommended. We have some good roasters locally in Richmond, Virginia Blanchards and Rostovs but I very much enjoy the coffee beans from Purebred. Also my favorite method is Aeropress if you haven't tried one by all means the cheapest best method of brewing I have found. The best 3rd wave coffee roaster in the area, and the best food of any coffee shop in the area. PC currently uses V60 and Chemex brewers, though they also serve batch brew and create many new espresso drinks (not using single origin beans for espresso currently). Their cortados are excellent! The food is amazing: giant breakfast sandwich, or bison burger, roasted sweet potatoes, or breakfast plate, and a plethora of baked goods. Because PC partners with local growers and bakers, the prices for food are higher than prepackaged generic food. Read the menu and ask questions. I believe the prices are fair to support local businesses. The baristas are friendly and helpful if you have questions. They typically get a little crowded on weekends, but early risers will have the place to themselves. read more

Husband brought the family here to try something new and get mom(me) yummy coffee. This place looks very clean upon entry. They were all very friendly while got the orders of a family of 6 all togather. We got coffee cake, red velvet cream cheese muffin, blueberry muffin, chocolate bundt cake, pour over coffee, 2 hot chocolates and a rootbeer. We ate them all at home ans thry were excellent. Purebred is a locally owned coffee shop in Troy. It's one of the few. Most other places to get coffee are at fast food restaurants. It's also a bit too costly. They're ok but aren't anything special. I had a regular size latte. It was made with macadamia milk. This was $5 for just this. For this you could get a couple of coffees somewhere else. The good thing was its taste. Atmosphere is probably the best thing about it. This seems to be a pretty good place for reading or working. The coffee can get expensive. It's good considering it's in Troy. Used to think this place was 5 stars. Not anymore. The owner is a wonderful person but her observational skills are questionable. Looking around anyone can see people working on their computers or in face-to-face meetings. These are difficult to do when the music is blaring. Or when the music is more suitable to a dance floor than a tranquil environment. Or when the energy of the music exacerbates the caffeination. The music goes against the ambiance of a decent coffee house. No staff will turn it down. No staff will fix the system though it's been crackly with a bad internet connection for days now. The owner won't change the music, and she won't heed suggestions from multiple customers. I used to go every day, now I dread going there. Despite what others reviewers have said, no, the staff is not all personable. There's a cultish/cliquish vibe among them that even baristas from and customers at coffee shops in surrounding towns joke about. I know this partly because I frequent those cafes far more often than I do PureBred now, and when I do I make it my workplace for the day. As far as the pastries, oh god, switch it up. I get paying $5 for a latte in trendy coffee shops but c'mon. I'm from Troy and in town visiting friends and family and heard about this place from a good friend. I live in Nashville and love a cool coffee shop (in Nashville they're a dime a dozen), so when I walked in and saw this place I got excited (especially seeing it in Troy!). Disclaimer, I've only tried an iced latte so this review is based on that. I paid almost $5 for an iced caramel latte, and when I got it, to say I was underwhelmed is an understatement. First of all, it's only 6 oz. I get more for the same price in a city as large as Nashville (and it wasn't sticker shock, I've paid more for a latte in Nashville, almost weekly). It was insultingly small. Once I tried it, super underwhelmed with the taste. Not really sweet. Not really even caramel flavored. Big letdown. The place itself is cool. Finally! An option to Miami county other than chain cafes and Winans. I went to Purebred with a friend on a snowy morning when I was visiting home from Chicago, and this is a cafe that would fit in just fine in a big city too. For my first drink I had a pour over and thought it was great that the barista let me be lazy and brought it right out to the table. I ordered a Turmeric tea special next and he brought that one out to me too, bless up fam. I had never thought to drink turmeric in a tea (for some reason) and it was so good!! Aside from the drinks, I really like the cozy minimalistic vibes of this place.
