Wow this place is sooo good!!! We came here after a long walk at White Clay Creek and it hit the spot. I'm from cali, so I've never been here but my husband recommended we visit and I'm so glad we did! I ordered the golden retriever (with chicken) and tomato bisque. Both were warm, delicious and so fresh!! The decor in the place makes it even more adorable, dog pics adorn the walls as a dog lover, I was over the moon. Came with a friend. We were just wandering and took a chance. We're glad we did. The sandwiches are made fresh and the pastries look delicious but I don't have any room to try any. Will have to make a return trip just to try them. The young man at the counter didn't rush us and explained what was popular and trending. He was sweet because we asked for two different spreads because we were sharing and he was more than happy to oblige. The eating area is full of paintings of all different breeds of dogs. There's also a television with YouTube videos of dogs doing funny/silly things. We felt very comfortable & welcomed. The music was good and not too loud so we could talk without yelling. Cute dog-themed deli -- Mom, my daughter, and I stopped here for a take-out lunch on a Friday afternoon after handling a bunch of business at the bank across the parking lot, and were really happy with the food, service, and attention to COVID safety measures. I had a cup of mushroom bisque and capresse salad, with prosciutto, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella over a bed of mixed greens, and drizzled with basil pesto and balsamic glaze. It was the perfect lunch. The soup was smooth and creamy and everything I wanted on a crisp fall afternoon, and the salad was large and filling, though I wish there was more prosciutto. (I always want more prosciutto.) Mom and my daughter also enjoyed their meals -- a Cobb salad with perfectly ripe avocado and grilled chicken, and a Golden Retriever (herb focaccia, turkey, sun-dried tomatoes, provolone and basil pesto), respectively. The focaccia was really good (I stole a bite) and didn't get overly soggy with the pesto, which was nice. If you're vegetarian, there are plenty of delicous-sounding options to enjoy, and the salads can be easily keto-fied, if that's your thing. Inside, there was limited seating (because COVID), but plenty of space between the tables that were still open. The staff all appeared to be wearing masks and sanitizer was available and used by other guests who were ahead of us and popped in to pick up their orders. There are free dog-themed magnets, and adorable photos all around the restaurant -- they really went all-in with their theme, but it gave us some fun things to look at while we waited for our meal. If it had been warmer out, we might've actually eaten outside, where they had some tables set up near the entrance, but it was a little too cool and windy for that. The hardest part about our visit was the ordering -- they have a big variety of choices, which is nice because everyone can find something they like, but it takes a while to work through them all if it's your first visit. And my daughter is a huge dog lover, so she spent a lot of time debating her favorite dogs instead of debating what she likes to eat. For instance, she loves Black Labs (the dogs), but not roast beef or horseradish (which is what's on the sandwich). The breakfast menu had some really amazing sounding options, too -- breakfast BLT, sunrise sandwich (egg & cheese sandwich on a toasted bagel/croissant/english muffin, with your choice of cheese and either bacon, ham, turkey or sausage), and the bagels looked really good, too. Mom has returned since our last visit, but I haven't had a chance and will definitely return to try some of these breakfast sandwiches out! read more

Went today because I was in the area and needed a quick meal. I ordered online the golden retriever sando and the Cobb salad under the breeder combo (1/2 sando 1/2 salad). They gave me a 10 min wait time but it was done in 8. Inside was clean and quaint. The workers were friendly and enthusiastic in just the 3 secs it took me to pick up my order lol. The sandwich could've had more turkey (it was more bread than anything) but still tasty. The salad was more toppings than lettuce which was a bummer. It did curb my hunger but it seems like they may be rationing certain ingredients as I've been to PureBread locations in the past and never have felt this way. read more

The food is delicious, and the prices aren't bad. The table was dirty when we say down, but the girl who worked here did ask if she could clean it as we sat down. I almost got the Cobb Salad, then I noticed the Lobster Bisque. It was all over at that point. The Lobster was real, and the Bisque was creamy and hot. My cohort got Turkey on Rye, and there was so much turkey she had to take some off. The Chicken Noodle Soup was full of noodely goodness too. I think it's time to give up on Purebread Deli , I stopped in to the one on Rt7 near Hockessin and ordered a " Doberman " it's a Bagel with Lox and cream cheese , well as with many others things the price went up , which I completely understand, what I can't understand is why two of the five or so coffee options are empty, i mentioned this to the young woman at the register and as I write this , I'm ready to leave , no one has bothered to refill them , the one I got was room temperature so I asked her to " nuke " it for me , after 2 trips in the microwave it still was cold so I drank it anyway.The bagel was supposed to be a toasted everything bagel and what passed for that was a barely warm over cream cheesed compressed mess , it used to be such a treat to go here to eat , I'm sorry the place has fallen so far down but I guess this restaurant is a victim of the pandemic and staffing shortages , I couldn't recommend Pure Bread Deli to anyone read more

A solid local chain that offers a slew of sandwiches and soups. Think of it as a homey deli-shop but with a twist. We got some sandwiches to go, and they were all great. The basil pesto sandwich on ciabbatta with mozza, peppers, and chicken was flavorful and filling. The Newfoundland sandwich was melty and flavorful as well (if not a tad salty). The third with ham, turkey, and roast beef was packed and had a good bite. Service was patient and friendly, and the orders come out quickly. Just went for dinner the first time. Basically it's Panera...but with some local dog theme going on (and bigger portions). I ordered a half soup half salad combo and was pleasantly surprised at how large the half salad was! Anyway the cobb salad was good. nothing really out of the ordinary, the sliced avocado was really nice. The parmesan kale italian sausage soup was very tasty. In reality it was a mostly parmesan soup with some tiny kale shreds in it, but the italian sausage was bountiful! Anyway for $9 i'm very full (unlike at panera) and the employees are much more pleasant than Panera. P.S. if you like coffee they have a WALL (there must have been around 20) coffee canisters all with different, exotic flavors of coffee. Definitely want to get some next time! read more

Purebred Deli has become a chain of stores now, and these stores are very well placed. Opposite the area's biggest hospital, which was remodeled to get more seating, and the dog photos that once graced their walls are now pedestrian in comparison. In Greenville's only little shopping area where there is no other competition, unless you go to Janssen's Market, which is in the shopping center just before their's, and has both a cafe and takeout that beats the pants off Purebred. The ambiance at Purebred is a tad better if that makes a difference to you. To me good food with little ambiance is fine, so long as the place is clean, and in Wilmington. If there are others, please excuse that I haven't looked for them. The variety of sandwiches, that were in the past, once lush with fillings, despite the supermarket tomatoes, have become smaller in size and have less of their fillings. They have also done away with so many sandwiches that your choices, once varied and interesting is down to a scant few. The muffins are big and have interesting flavors. I am not aware if Purebred uses local produce or Global Sysco for their food. My money is on the latter. The prices have gone up, though they were never inexpensive. The service has gone down, specifically at the Christiana and Greenville locations. The best I can say now is that, while I did love their Visla, (a BLT on focaccia with chipotle mayonnaise,) it was originally big enough that I could not finish it, I now am hungry after eating the entire thing. I would have winced a wee bit if they had raised the prices more but had left the sandwiches the same size. Where I once was a regular customer of Purebred, they have now become a very occasional place for me. First the change from the best coffee in the entire area to the same as any Wawa, then the pricey sandwiches that are not worth the price and a drop in service quality. They are a recognized name in this area and Delawareans are not that discriminating, for the most part, about what they eat. They have also chosen to stop serving pickles with the sandwiches, which is a shame: they were really good pickles. read more

Mix and match different sandwiches to make something that is truly your own. My go to is lettuce, cheese, bacon, mayo and avocado on focaccia bread. I have just started trying their salad menu starting with the spinach salad and am only disappointed it took me so long to try one (I was just so hung up on the diy sandwich thing). I ordered the Golden Retriever, overall it was pretty good, tasted fresh, and was enough for the price. Even the pickle I had as a side was fresh and crunchy, they're usually half the size and soggy at Panera. I like that it's not a chain, rather there's 5 locations throughout northern Delaware and SEPA. I'll probably be back to try other sandwiches. read more

Very good sandwiches, salads and soups. Excellent breakfast selection in addition to a wide variety of creative sandwiches with a variety of breads. You can also buy the breads (fairly wide selection) and pastries (fairly small but tasty selection) if that is your wish. Eat-in or takeout are both good. Marginally more expensive than the Subway/Wawa fare but MUCH better quality. The comparison to Panera is interesting although I actually prefer the food here as well as it being a more generous portion. read more
