Excellent little Italian shop! Hoagie was fantastic and the staff was super friendly. Plenty of great eats in this place.

Some one put Di Scala's on my radar quite some time ago and I was finally in the area so I sought them out. Nice large store/deli located just south of Chester. Lots of refrigerated pre made foods to choose from but I was there for a hoagie. I decided on corned beef but only saw it as a sandwich special. The lady helping me said she could put it on a roll instead. I got what would be considered a "half" and my sandwich was very good. The roll was perfection and the igredients were fresh but the meat was cut just a little to thick for my personal preference. The price was definitely right as well. Highly recommended.

Had never tried this place before, so I stopped and picked up a chicken cutlet sandwich for my husband last week. It was topped with sharp provolone, broccoli rabe and hot peppers. I didn't get the chance to try it myself or get a picture cause he ate the whole thing. It's not a big place but they have a bunch of stuff to offer... lots of yummy looking Italian stuff. I will be going back for sure.

We came in for chicken cutlets because our regular place doesn't do hot sandwiches on Sundays. I've had this place bookmarked for a while to try and it did not disappoint. My husband got the chicken parm sandwich and I got the cutlet sandwich with mozz and broccoli rabe. Both were really good and inside the deli is really authentic. I was making so many mental notes to come back to do some ingredient shopping. We will be back!

Great deli right off 95. I ordered the chicken cutlet supreme. Was amazing. Also grabbed 2 tomato pies for home. The kids quickly ate them. Worth stopping in for lunch off 95.

The sandwich isn't small, the olive oil is just that BIG!

Wow! This Italian hoagie was so good I was smiling (like a dope) while eating, and for a while afterward. Each and every ingredient was TOP Italian quality. Crazy-sharp provolone, prosciutto like none other, capicola that belongs in a museum, roasted peppers that could have been a dish on their own, and crusty fresh bread straight from an pro's oven! Holey moley this was good! We went in to buy some olive oil because we ran out of the specialty stuff we bought at Carlino's, and we hoped this place would have something comparable. We found a good imported olive oil there, and could not resist trying the food. I have a whole list of good hoagie spots, but you gotta find an Italian place to get a good Italian one. Supposedly Primo's is known for Italians... we (RELUCTANTLY) tried Primo's ONCE. It was crap. If we had known this place existed, and what we could buy with our money instead, we would never have set foot in an icky Primo's. DiScala's is probably the BEST Italian hoagie my husband and I have ever had. (And my husband works near S. Philly, so he is shown the host of top Ital hoagies on offer in this area.) We cannot say enough great things about the extremely high quality of this food. We had to wait in line (for a while) to get this sandwich, but I would do it again in a heartbeat! Phenomenal! Phenomenal! Phenomenal!

My first two were excellent, the third not so much. I've had an old world Italian hoagie and a roast beef hoagie, had the mini size and both were jam packed with delicious ingredients. There was a time I could have eaten the largest size, which is 3 times the size of the mini, but as an old man the mini was perfect. My most recent visit I ordered a regular size kielbasa with sauerkraut, which for most of the sandwiches would be like the medium size, for the kielbasa is was the smallest they offered. Well, I should have asked for the kraut on the side because when I got home the nice Aversa's roll was soggy, my fault there. On the other hand the kielbasa tased like Hillshire Farm mass produced crap. When the guy got it from the refrigerated cooler where they keep the deli meats he carried it with both hands in a manner as to hide the package it was in, I thought it was odd at the time but didn't think any more about it, until I got home and realized why. While waiting for my sandwich, I saw what looked like 'real' kielbasa in with the deli meats so I was very disappointed when I went to enjoy the sandwich only to have the taste and texture to like be a glorified hot dog. Overall I like the place, the prices and hoagies are great. But, I now know not to order anything but the hoagies here.

They don't have a menu (except for party trays) so you make up what you want and voila. The staff was very friendly and professional, especially for their young age. The young man who made our food said, "I hope you like it," when he handed them off to us, which was very thoughtful. It shows pride in good work, which is really appreciated. Meats were decent and fresh, rolls fresh too. I was told I'd get a 12" roll for $5.50, which would have been an amazing deal, and I was all ready to rave about the deal on Yelp, but what I got was only an 8" roll, which, in light of my anticipation, was kind of disappointing, but for $5.50 it was still a good deal for the quality of deli meats. The store was clean and tidy. There was a dining area if you wants to eat in, and typical selection of tastykakes, chips, drinks, etc. that come with the deli atmosphere. Typical old school corner store.

You should be too.

I haven't visited for a few years now because my last experience was repulsive…read more Perhaps it was a coincidence but I received very odd treatment (abnormal from all my prior experiences) here when we asked non-white friends to join us for lunch. We were seated in the corner by the cookie jars, 3 kids among us. The waitress for some reason could not hear my non-white friend even though she was perfectly audible to me, and I was audible to the waitress (not speaking any louder than my friend). Nonetheless, my friend had to repeat herself more than once, and I felt her guard go up that the treatment was odd. My protective instinct for them (and my child) went up as well. The food took an extremely long time but that can happen at lunch because they are very busy. What was odd was that my friend was given an order of fries she never asked for--I heard her order THREE TIMES and somehow the waitress still did not get it right. I will add that the waitress was extremely preoccupied with a male customer, flirting, giggling and acting like a high schooler (she was 20-something). I get being giddy in a new relationship but it was completely distracting her from her job and was totally inappropriate especially considering all the mistakes she was making. We also had to wait extremely long periods between being given water, ketchup (again, my friend's request), our bill, etc. Worst part, the bill was extremely high and included about $15 more than what we ordered. We were charged for the fries she mistakenly (on purpose?) gave us, and the wrong sandwiches were on there too. You know what I did? I did the "nice white girl" thing and obediently made no fuss and left a tip that waitress never deserved. It's sad I was confused and overwhelmed by the sh!tty treatment and in denial about what happened. Yes, I should have made a complaint then and there but they'd already made us late for the arboretum, plus when you treat people passive aggressively, and you make 3 kids between 1 and 5 have to sit for an hour of the slowest incompetent service ever, I had to just pay and leave because I was not going to make a scene in front of kids and the place was slammed with people so I'd have had to further wait for someone to be available. However I did attempt to call them multiple times in the days after but no one picked up during lunch hours when I called. They have no email address I could find to show my receipt and as the days passed I had a million other things to do as the mom of a young child so that's how it goes when a business has no email in the 21st Century. We were treated like crap and overcharged. I realized all my prior visits were with my family or extended family, all white people. Childhood visits were with a white friend who lives nearby, and her white family. You can see in photos and reviews I have been to this place many times going back to my childhood, but I haven't returned since and I will never go back. I got a good sense of how it feels when "odd" passive aggressive behavior seems to happen around non-white people, and yes it could be honest mistakes (a series of them aimed at my non-white friend) or it could be discriminatory. It could be that one waitress's attitude is irreflective of the establishment but this is what happened at this establishment, and the result is we were treated deplorably and I have no reason to ever return. They owe me an overcharge of $15 plus the unfairly high tip I left that horrible waitress!
