I loved this place! The food and drink were spot on. My prickly pear margarita with my choice of a sugar rim was really good. I had to limit myself to one, but I could have easily drank a pitcher of this stuff. I may have regretted it the next day, but it would have made for a fun and very tasty evening. The Quesadillas de Pollo y Queso were works of art for my tummy. It's kind of hard to see exactly how they are composed but believe me, they are amazing. This place does not skimp on sour cream or guacamole and that makes me happy. I met friends here on a Monday night for dinner and drinks and it did not disappoint! We had a yummy appetizer of Queso con Todo and ended ordering a second one because it was so good. I split the steak fajitas with my husband and added guacamole, sour cream, and pico for an additional $3. The food was delicious and plentiful. Mixed drinks were tequila based and my friends loved them. I'm not a tequila drinker and there wasn't really another mixed drink choice but there are beer and wine choices. I can't believe how great this place is!! My boyfriend and I read some of the reviews and were a little hesitant but decided to try it out since we were in the area. I got a skinny love margarita on the rocks and it was AMAZING. My bf got a frozen regular margarita and it was good and SO strong (we were shocked). We happened upon this place in downtown Duluth. We got the cheese with the chorizo and the hot peppers which was yummy and came with some soft corn tacos. I really liked it. The drinks are good. I would warn you the drinks are fairly expensive for the size they come in. They had a specialty margarita for Valentine's Day, blood orange, it's about 4-5 ounces in about $12. it's a good drink but pricey. we got some tacos which were good. Two medium size tacos run about $12 and they come with a side of rice and beans. We got the lamb and the steak which were both delicious. The shrimp was good too! they don't have any complementary chips or salsa. I did get a burrito to go. I asked for some salsa on the side which they forgot. This is such a cute little spot in Downtown Duluth. I've been to one of Pure Taqueria's locations before and enjoyed it, and this time was no different! Even on a Friday night the wait only took about 20 minutes and once we were seated our server was SO sweet. I got the Puerco Al Pastor tacos and a Blackberry Thyme margarita. Definitely don't skip the cheese dip either (with jalapeños of course). Instead of it being little chopped pieces of jalapeño it's more like a candied jalapeño jam that stirs in and distributes the spice so well. The food misses the mark in several aspects. I had steak tacos with rice and beans. The meat did not have much flavor at all. The beans were not cooked nearly long enough, and I simply did not like the flavor of the rice. I will say, though, that the chips that pair with the salsa have a wonderful unique flavor and texture that you cannot find at most restaurants. I do recommend that as a starter. Service was decent. Our waitress was friendly. There could have been more attentiveness, but it was very busy when we were dining, so that was completely understandable. Pure taqueria in Duluth used to be great. Now it's ok. I brought my friends here all the time for very accessible American Mexican food. Until last year - or maybe 2021 - they had a siete salsas and chips - an array of salsas served with warm chips that on its own was a good reason to visit. I brought many of my friends here and the were thankful for the introduction. Siete salsas was a big draw for them. They also had many vegetarian options from the burrito afogatto to the mushroom tacos and cauli tacos. Now a lot has changed to make this no longer my go-to local place in Duluth for spicy salsa and vegetarian burritos and tacos. You can still order the salsas alacarte but many are not on the menu and it seems they don't taste as good as they used to - especially the habanero salsa which was no longer sufficiently spicy when I tried it recently. They no longer have the cauli or mushroom tacos and generally the selection and taste is not as good as it was up to about 2021. I hope management will read this and bring those items - and the quality - back and if so, let me n my know and I will give it another try - and if it's good, maybe I will feel comfortable bringing my friends over again. read more

The price is for the spot and atmosphere, so if that's all you are in for then you'll be pumped! The food and drinks are good but the service is generally lacking. Expect to wait a while to get your cocktails and dinner, regardless of how busy they are or aren't. We generally leave feeling like they were very understaffed or not interested in their customers. I guess one way around very slow / inattentive service would be to order 3 drinks at a time. Sort of weird, though, since the more food and drinks that are served, the higher the gratuity, but it just seems like the culture of the staff here. Alpharetta is much more attentive. It came with plenty of chips and had a nice bite to it. We ordered guacamole for an appetizer, and it came with different chips--a little bit thicker. They were good, but I thought the guacamole could have used a little more seasoning/spice. Definitely enough to share. Then for the fish tacos. They came with a cilantro salsa on the side. It's the same experience you would expect. The menu is a blend of more traditional Mexican as well as the hybrid Tex Mex and Southwestern that has been popular for years The staff is decent. They try to come by when to check in on you when they can. Not as much though on a busy day. The food is okay to be honest. Might just be the chef in this location but man did my steak taste burned. I've always wanted to try this restaurant ever since it first opened. When they opened up the location in Dunwoody, I had the pleasure of dining there for lunch. I finally got the chance to eat at Pure again, but this time, the Duluth location. I hate having to give it 3 stars because I was struggling between a 3 or 4. Service was superb! We did not have to wait long and foods came out at a reasonable time. The only reason why I'm giving it 3 stars is because I have to be honest that I was sort of disappointed in the foods. I've been to Pure before but never the Duluth location. We decided on this spot for lunch this weekend. Service was friendly, but a little slow. They have a full bar, so it's nice to be able to order a drink. I had the white sangria which was pretty good, but the fruit in it wasn't really edible because it was cut so small and had the peels still attached, not worth the effort. The chips and salsa are good. The chips are super thin and not too greasy. For lunch, we split the chipotle chicken tacos with a side of black beans and rice. The portions are large. The taco was just okay. The chicken was on the dry side and the chipotle sauce couldn't save it. I ordered some spicy mayo and that really helped me finish it but without this key ingredient, I wouldn't have bothered. Rice and beans were pretty standard. Would I come back? Again, the food was decent although for 3 tacos costing roughly $12 is really iffy considering a giant bowl of pho costs $12 and you get more meat with it always makes me cringe at the though when doing a comparative pricing on various food items I've come across. But I was in mixed company and figured the sea of other voices would make a big fuss, decided to let it go and order puerco pork tacos that night. What has me give no more than 3 stars was the fact that for some reason, our server wasn't the most attentive. I ordered a Corona and really didn't enjoy it. Being a craft beer guy and with a brewery nearby, figured I'd go there and get a beer but unfortunately, folded and got the Corona. Well, our server came back and basically couldn't communicate and brought back another Corona and charged me for it. I didn't want it as it seemed like she asked if I had a Corona which I responded, "Yes."
