At Coreworks, the classes have no more than 8-10 reformers, so the instructor can take the time to help each student with the routines. No two workouts are the same, and classes are never dull. If you are thinking of giving Pilates a try, visit CoreWorks and check Groupon, as there are often new member/class packages.

Per the instructions on groupon, I emailed Fran so that I could create a log in online but I didn't hear back from her so I called the office. Once my account was created, I was able to sign up for classes. I was informed before I took any classes I would need to take the Intro to Equipment class. Fran was the instructor. She was patient and helpful as it was my first time and I needed specialized attention. For my second session, I took Reformer I & II with Doreen. Foe my last session I took Tower with a substitute for Doreen. All the instructors were patient, helpful, and friendly. They ask if anyone had injuries and they walk around and if your technique is wrong they adjust and correct you which I greatly appreciated. The classes were challenging to me since I am not good at following directions. Also, if you don't remember instructions well, I recommend taking Intro to Equipment multiple times. I had to look around to see how to do things as I am a visual learner, not an audio learner. The facility is tucked away in the corner and is not visible if you are in the parking lot. Fortunately I saw someone wearing athletic clothes and followed them. The facility is clean and bright. There are two individual restrooms. There is a main room with cubbies. The reformer room also had cubbies. The reformer room was slightly warm even with ceiling fans so I dressed lighter the second and third session. I enjoyed my experience, but could have benefitted from more intro classes. The classes were much different than my normal cardio and strength training classes at my gym. The pace was slower and it was a great way to relieve stress. I highly recommend Core Fitness for Pilates.

The random ten minute videos on YouTube were fantastic starters, but I realized that I wanted something more so I found Grace, a studio local to me. The first session was free, so it was a good way to get introduced to the place and the people there. So let's start there. I almost had enough time to say hello to the receptionist when she recognized that I was a new face, smiled, and introduced herself to me. She offered a tour to me, which was friendly, but I was surprised that another attendee offered to take me on a tour herself! It was clear to me then that the friendliness was contagious. I really appreciate that the equipment is available at no cost. Having the mats, the blocks, the bands, and even blankets there meant that I could participate at the same level that more experienced yogis could. This first session, I rolled out in the back as Jade started speaking. The whole experience was wonderful, but something she said stood out to me: when someone's phone rang and they apologized, Jade responded with a smile and said "Don't be sorry. This just means someone's thinking of you." And then I knew that the community was eager to share their wisdom and peace with others. On the community board (which highlights members, friends, and local services) I saw that the first month was available for a reduced price, and after such a wonderful first experience, I knew I was going to sign up. I'm almost done with this month and have practiced under different instructors but have found them all incredibly welcoming. I also appreciate the ability to participate from home, which I've done on several occasions, and an equal level of engagement from the instructor. I've had a really positive experience thus far and am excited for many more months of good yoga and community!

I've also taken rise and rest yoga with Lenore. This was a relaxing way to wind down from a busy day. I recently competed a yoga strength class with Amy. This was an all-level class and she offered us options to modify or intensify each move. Amy played a nice mix of songs from her phone during the class; however, the music kept being interrupted by notification dings, which was distracting. Overall, I found Grace Studio to be a decent place for a yoga workout. The studio is equipped with mats, weights, blocks, resistance bands, and bolsters. Instructors offer verbal assists rather than hands-on adjustments for yoga moves. Instructors are welcoming, the studio is bright and inviting, and classes are not crowded.

COME ON YELP FAMILY-I'm sure you understand my frustrations here lol To me that's false advertisement. "Mention Yelp to receive the 20% off membership" or class session or even the buy $50 and receive $75 to use. When instead you mention Yelp and the employees are CLUELESS...What is that?! Yelp is my Bible to new experiences so once you tell me Yelp is wrong- I mean simply change the details your business advertisement and whalaa=NO PROBLEMS or CONFUSION. I attended an intro class with the assumption that I would be able to take advantage of these offers. I'm also going to follow up with our area Manager...maybe he can reach out to them and clarify this up. Happy Yelping!

The only available classes are very early or very late, which do not fit most people's schedules. I scheduled a 2.0 class, but it was canceled by their staff. The front office said I must be assessed and approved by an instructor, even though I have experience in many advanced Pilates classes at other studios. I asked when the instructor would be available to assess me, and they said they were unsure of the next available time. They take your money without assessing you but limit your ability to attend classes in many ways. I tried to talk to their manager and waited for 2 hours with no response. The front office said she was in a meeting. However, when you see their studio, there isn't even a meeting room--big lie. A kind reminder: before you enroll at the Laurel location, check if you can find any available classes that fit your usual workout time. If you cannot find available classes, it might be better to try another location. Club Pilates is a franchise business, and its membership cannot be used at other locations. Mostly, you can only use your membership at one location, so be cautious before you enroll. I leave this review on 6/19/24. I attached their schedule in the next days, you can see almost nothing you can schedule.

Throughout the class she corrected my form which I appreciated so that I didn't get injured. Overall impressions: I thought the class was going to be a breeze but I was mistaken. My arms and legs were shaking and my muscles were twitching. I had to take frequent breaks and I ended up losing the ball and band for most of the class. As Sara said maintaining the proper form was most important. Who knew all the small movements could work all your muscles. Although I enjoyed the class, I prefer a gym that offers more variety of cardio and strength training classes. I don't think this gym fits with what I am looking for, but I enjoyed the opportunity to try something new.

You're basically running on a soft-surfaced treadmill and doing lots of different exercises using your own body weight, free weights, bands, etc. You will be harnessed in so you don't go running off of the front of the machine. You get a heart rate monitor when you arrive. This way you can monitor your heart rate during the work out. Your heart rate and your name will appear on a screen in the studio, along with everyone else in the class. The instructor is really like a coach. She will tell you and others to push harder if your heart rate isn't in a certain zone, but she'll also let you know you should back off if your heart rate gets too high. PACE YOURSELF! Or you may end up light-headed and nauseated like me! Lots of explosive movements. This is definitely a high intensity interval training workout. The greatest difficulty for me is following the routine, like in any fitness class. I'm just not very coordinated. The work out is only 30-45 minutes, which is also nice. There's plenty of parking, but it's kind of awkward. The building where this is located is kind of nondescript and old, but you will find it pretty easily.

In other group fitness classes that I have taken, the instructors stay at the front of the room and basically complete the same workout as the participants. At Pure Barre, instructors take classes (led by other instructors) because when they are teaching and demonstrating, they aren't getting the intense workout that comes with taking a class. In this review, I also would like to praise the instructors' willingness to work with people with limitations like me. (I have a broken arm that did not heal well). They have great suggestions for modifying exercises. I would encourage anyone who needs a few modifications to give Pure Barre a try. The instructors will have suggestions for you, but they are equally as open to letting you figure out what you need on your own.
