About a year ago, I posted a review in which I praised the instructors for providing individual "hands on" guidance. That continues to impress me. In other group fitness classes that I have taken, the instructors stay at the front of the room and basically complete the same workout as the participants. At Pure Barre, instructors take classes (led by other instructors) because when they are teaching and demonstrating, they aren't getting the intense workout that comes with taking a class. In this review, I also would like to praise the instructors' willingness to work with people with limitations like me. (I have a broken arm that did not heal well). They have great suggestions for modifying exercises. I would encourage anyone who needs a few modifications to give Pure Barre a try. The instructors will have suggestions for you, but they are equally as open to letting you figure out what you need on your own. That kind of flexibility, along with 4 different class formats, keeps me coming back! read more

I highly suggest trying out the kings farm location of pure barre in addition to this location. The pure barre credit/membership can be used in either Rockville location. I gave pure barre a second chance and it was the best decision I made. Also if your an introvert, like me, barre is still for you. The music isn't blaring, there is plenty of classes to choose from and, honestly, the only person paying attention to what your doing is the instructor. I also paid extra for a private barre session with Emily - it was awesome. If your a beginner, don't be intimidated. The instructors are really good at offering modifications. After taking 10 classes, I went ahead and made the jump to sign up for a membership. I am glad I did! read more

I agree with the reviews about PB Rockville South being a great space -- large and with natural light coming through the windows. I've commented in other reviews about how great the all-body work outs AND the instructors are at both Rockville locations, but I am more familiar with Pure Barre Rockville South. PB deserves kudos for the ways in which they have evolved over the years. (I first went there about 7 years ago.) The changes are subtle, but the instructors seem more friendly and down-to-earth now. The removal of the photos of the "perfect" women engaging in barre was also a HUGE improvement. PB now appears to be more accepting of all body types and levels of fitness. I think it is a bit on the expensive side, the instructors will give you personal attention when and if you need it! read more

Pure Barre Rockville. Best thing that has happened to me. I had never found something like this ever before. I have been coming here for about 5 years and taken almost 1250 classes. The teachers are excellent and the people are friendly. My favorite class is the newest called Pure Barre Define. I can definitely see a difference in my muscle definition. The name could not be perfect. It incorporates heavier weights and addresses every part of your body just like the other formats. I also go to Classic and empower and try and come to at least 4 times a week which is my goal. You really need to come and try out a free class. read more

Easily my favorite workout studio...! My review is about three years in the works, as a PB-er who enjoyed their Twinbrook location but now LOVE their even bigger space at "FitRow" in Congressional Plaza. You essentially can choose from three different types of classes - Classic, Empower, Pure Reform. Empower is my favorite by far, especially if taught by Tristine or Kat! Be ready to sweat more than you think in this cardio infused class (tip - bring a little towel! You will thank me later). Make sure to sign up for an intensive class every now and then to mix things up as well! You can book and view the class schedules via the PB App, for virtual and in-studio classes. Do remember than you have to cancel your class BEFORE you get into the 4 hour window as otherwise, you'll need to deal with a cancellation fee. There's always different challenges going on, depending on the month to keep you motivated, as well as those milestones of reaching the 100/250/500/750/1000 class mark...! Looking for a workout that is low impact yet satisfying that will make you sweat and sore?? Try out Pure Barre! I've been to Twinbrook and the King Farm location, both are nice and all instructors have been great! I took the free foundations class. BOY i thought it was tough! i liked how it wasnt huge in cardio (i have a bad knee so cardio tends to irritate it) but still made me work up a good sweat! it was challenging and i could feel my muscle struggle. I feel like this type of workout is great for my knee because its low impact and it definitely will help strengthen my legs! all the instructions are very personable, friendly, encouraging and very willing to help you with your form during or after class! i like how each class is somewhat small so the instructor takes the time to correct you and teach too! now ive been to a couple of classes and still enjoying all the instructors and music that they pick! i have yet to buy an unlimited package (it is a little bit pricey to me so im thinking about it) but for first time buyers they have a deal that for one month its $99 unlimited classes! update: i've taken a couple of classes now and the two instructors that I've taken more than once are Jasmine and Chloe. I love taking their class because of their energy! Very positive and it pushes you to keep going! read more

To be honest, the classes are great. After they changed management team, everything become horrible. I was late for 2 minutes for the morning class, they refused to open the locked door. It was raining outside. I have no idea why they can't open the door and let me in. I didn't see this new policy on anywhere of their website. Also, they messed up my friend's payment. So my friend also left them bc of their unprofessional. Overall, if u want to come to this place, Don't be late!! Otherwise they WILL lock u out. read more

I tried out their first free class and it was challenging but in a good way. The staff is very friendly and polite. The studio is beautiful with large windows and plenty of space to freely workout. Pure Barre Twinbrook has moved to Congressional Plaza in the new FIT row, next to Core Power Yoga and Orange Theory. I had been to the Twinbrook studio a couple times, but this new location is amazing! The studio is the biggest Pure Barre studio I've visited! So much light with the window, plenty of space for everyone with room to spare! The empower class with Katelyn was amazing, she was livestreaming the class as well. Everyone was super friendly. Would love to attend more Empower classes there, but not that many are on the schedule per week. I hope they add more, its my favorite format over classic and reform. If you are looking to try PB, definitely recommend this location! read more

Pure barre is what helped me stick to exercising regularly again after a long hiatus. I picked it thinking it would be a good way to ease into working out again, but ease is not how I would describe barre. Even though the movements are tiny and only small hand weights are used, your muscles will burn and shake as you curse silently in your head. The instructors are all great, and do a good job of inspecting and gently correcting everyone's form. I love the stretching with the softer music at the end of every session, for a little bit of mental self care too. read more

I never thought I would love a workout so much that I would want to go every day. Pure Barre is challenging and I have seen changed in my body and core strength. What makes me want to go every day are the instructors and participants. The instructors are encouraging and help you learn the moves. The workouts are different so there is no boredom. As you learn more and your body becomes stronger, the instructors help you learn how to perfect your moves and work on more challenging moves. If you need modifications the instructors will show you ways modify. The other participants are friendly, helpful, and encouraging. Just an amazing place. read more

This is my favorite Pure Barre studio! Jill, the owner is the sweetest. I love the layout of the studio, with the store up front, the water dispenser with the drinking fountains and the insulated studio in the back. The instructors are great and always so friendly and welcoming. The first time I tried a free class, it was so hard and painful that I didn't come back for 6 months. I wasn't sure it was for me. However, in January, I came back for another free class and ended up enjoying it more (I came with a friend). We both ended up doing an unlimited first month deal. I told myself that if I just came to 4 classes, I would have made it worthwhile. I ended up coming at least 4x per week! Now I am addicted. I am getting stronger and improving here and there. But, I still have a long way to go! I never really worked out regularly before this. But, I've been going about 10-20x per month for the past year! Right now, they are offering 1 free first week. I went this place yesterday with my co worker. I took the classic(?) class and it was such a great work out. It was def harder than i thought but i could feel soaring on my muscles after class is over and it felt great. I normally go to gym and do the weight training but this short one hour session was enough to replace my normal work out which is 2-3 hrs of weight training and cardio. read more

This is the workout I've been looking for! I feel stronger with every class I take and am ecstatic with the results I've seen. This particular studio is in a super convenient location where you can park in a garage for free for 2 hours. There are so many class times to choose from each day so it's easy to fit a workout into your schedule. What makes this the best experience though- is the staff. All of the teachers and barretenders are incredibly friendly and encouraging. It is an amazing community to be a part of. I've been with Pure barre rockville since 2015, and am so glad this twinbrook location opened up closer to my home. I will be a pure barre addict for the rest of my life! read more

Pure Barre is addictive - I've been to the owner's King Farm location a few times as well as one in Seattle, but when they opened up a Pure Barre across from the Twinbrook Metro station a short drive away, I immediately signed up for the pre-opening special. It's literally across the street from the Twinbrook Metro station, and there's free parking in the garage for 2 hours. I like to go to the Safeway after class to get all of my grocery shopping done, which makes it extremely convenient. The studio is clean, well-lit, and has the most awesome bathrooms. There's a filtered water dispenser, which is nice as well. They have a lot of cute tops/leggings for sale in the front. Since signing up for the pre-opening special, I've been going 4-5 times a week. Despite the high frequency, I never get bored because the workout changes each class. The class schedule is also very flexible, with frequent morning, mid-day, afternoon, and early evening classes, which allows me to go whenever is best for my schedule. Pure Barre involves small, isometric movements that is somewhat similar to pilates, and concentrates on the arms, thighs, seat (aka your butt), and abs. Each class begins with a warm-up, arms, thighs, seat, and then abs at the end. Throughout the class the instructor gives you clear direction and form adjustments through the exercises, set to great music. It's fantastic for cross-training, conditioning, or a workout in itself. My first love is weightlifting, but after getting injured multiple times due to the small muscles and core not being strong enough, I use Pure Barre to increase the strength of those small muscles and core. I went from not being able to hold a plank for 30 seconds to holding the plank for 90 seconds within a few weeks of class. Classes continue to be challenging and I need to do a lot of modified positions for a lot of the exercises, but you get stronger. The studio frequently offers a free Breaking Down The Barre class, which goes in-depth into technique and modifications, in which you can tailor your workout to your abilities. Besides the strength gains, I've also seen additional definition in my arms and upper abs, as well as a smaller waistline. Results will vary depending on your body type and eating habits, but due to the increased core strength and stretching my posture is better and I stand maybe 1/2' taller now. Additionally there is a community aspect of Pure Barre - I love that the studio frequently issues challenges, Wine Down Wednesdays, and other events. Cons are that it's expensive, but even after the introductory month I plan on renewing. The best exercise is one that you like and one that you consistently attend! read more

I love this workout and this studio! My first class was at the King Farm studio in Rockville- which is equally amazing! The instructors are so sweet and knowledgeable, and really strive to push you every class. Don't get discouraged if you struggle through your first class, they say it takes about 10 classes to start to get the hang of the movements. I really recommend this workout to anyone who wants to try a different kind of workout. I like the upbeat music, and everyone who takes class here is very friendly! I'll be the first to admit it, I'm not a gym rat. I love sugar, carbs, and couch time. I have tried multiple gyms and training apps, none have worked for me. I attended the soft opening here and then bought the introductory package the next day because I loved it. The workout I got my first class made me want to come back for more. The different teachers help keep you on your toes with different workouts that push you to do better. I feel myself getting stronger with each class and even though I still need to modify some exercise I am feeling the burn. I try and go at least 4-5 times a week, because it is only 6 minutes from my work and on the way home which really cuts down any excuse to not work out. I forgot my workout clothes at home yesterday and had to cancel my class. I was super bummed but really thankful that I can cancel or schedule classes on my phone with the Pure Barre app. The studio at Twinbrook is beautiful the instructors great you when you walk in the door usually by name, there is cute gear on display for purchase right when you walk in. A water fountain/bottle filling station and two restrooms that are always clean. One of the nicest things is that there are extra hair ties and (ahem) lady products in the bathroom just in case you need them. I have found that attending Pure Barre has helped improve my life, not just my cardio, or my body tone, but the way I do things in general. I'm more positive and upbeat, I sit up straighter stand taller and make better food choices. The feeling you get in class will stick with you, it's wonderful. You'll start seeing some of the same ladies in class with you and it's great because you feel that camaraderie even if just for 55 mins while you Lift. Tone. Burn. read more

Great workout. Great experience so far! I've been going to purebarre for two months now once or twice a week and I really enjoy it. It's an awesome workout without going to a huge gym. The instructors are great especially Tristine. My only complaint is that sometimes the music is a little loud so I can't hear the instructor even though they're wearing a mic (and sometimes it just sounds muffled like the mic is too close to their mouth). Otherwise I love it... wish I could go more often!! read more

Like another reviewer mentioned, pure barre is addicting but in a great way! I only started taking class three months ago and go as often as I can. With the two studios (Twinbrook and Rockville) and several classes offered throughout the day, it is very convenient. Classes rarely fill so you can always show up at the last minute. The instructors are all fabulous...very friendly and helpful. If you are a newbie to barre, don't be intimidated. I was at first but this studio was very welcoming! read more

I go through phases where I'll get into spin, yoga, etc. I had never tried barre and figured why not. So glad I did - the staff and instructors are so friendly and create a great workout atmosphere! The workouts are intense but go by so quickly with the constantly changing movements + the fun music. I feel like a get a better and more varied workout than other types of classes - can't recommend Pure Barre enough! read more
