Very nice people work here, as is the case for all local gyms, and lots of very nice equipment. BUT, I only use about 5 pieces per session and there is no swimming at this location. This place is exceptionally expensive and the management stinks. Also they raise the rates every year. To make this place worth it, one must spend a whole day here 5 days a week. All in all, this gym has served it's purpose. When I first inquired, I was just honestly so annoyed with the LA Fitness I was going to. It was always so SO crowded and the machines were always broken. I called the gym to inquire about a free day pass to just give the gym a try. I wasn't able to get ahold of anyone so I left a voicemail. Needless to say, I was surprised to receive a call back within minutes from Milan. He told me to come by the gym and he'd get me a pass and show me around. Milan is awesome and very friendly. He was knowledgeable about all of the equipment and very welcoming. He let me work out that same day and I decided to sign up for a membership that same day. The entire staff from the front desk to the cleaners to the café staff is very nice. They always say hi and greet you. I did have a pretty annoying encounter in the sauna with another patron who took it upon herself to tell me I needed to be naked if I wanted to be in the sauna and kept telling me to get out. At first, I just ignored her and kept my AirPods in but she didn't take the hint that I didn't care. She proceeded to start videoing me while yelling and saying she was going to get management. I'm pretty proud of myself for not engaging. I just told her to go ahead and get them. It was pretty late on a Sunday so I guess she could only find the cleaner. The cleaner came in the sauna to tell me she was upset and to that I asked "And?" lol so anyways I continued to finish my sauna sesh and the sauna patrol never returned. I then decided to inform the front desk who was very apologetic and gave me the general manager, Joel's, email. I won't go into details about that but I will say, I don't believe he handled it too well from a customer service and management point of view. After our email exchange I considered canceling my membership but I just decided it wasn't worth my time and went on with my life because I really didn't care that much. So yeah. This is a nice gym that is 3 levels with a ton of rooms for different purposes. It's actually so large I don't even remember what most of the rooms are. I checked out the class schedule and they offered a Tabata class on a Friday evening. I work in Montgomery County so thought I'd swing by to take the class. My gym in Columbia doesn't offer classes that I like on Friday nights. The layout at this location is different from what I observed but I didn't take a full tour either. This location is split level which is different than the Columbia location which has two levels. The bottom level has Life Spa and the Changing Rooms. The main level has the Cafe, Studios for classes, and an Alpha area. The upper level has the cardio and weight machines, and the Pilates studio. They appear to have fewer amenities than the Columbia location such as no indoor/outdoor pools, rockwall climbing, or basketball courts, from what I could see. I will say I like the layout of the changing room better at this location as the sinks are in a separate area and not directly across from the lockers. I don't feel comfortable changing in front of others, and I'd hate that at my gym location people washing their hands can see in the mirror, people changing by the lockers. Regarding the class, the exercises we did today had similar and different routines than I do at my regular gym. I did like that the music counted down 3, 2, 1 for each set of exercises we did. That's always helpful when taking a Tabata class. I am definitely interested in trying the 50/50 (half cardio, half strength) class as my gym doesn't offer this. I wished I could take other classes not offered at my main gym but they are not convenient with my work schedule. Overall a nice facility, but from what I heard, they will eventually be relocating to Montgomery Mall which won't be as convenient for me. read more

While this gym may not have the exact same ammenities as its northern neighbor, this is a fantastic place to get a workout in peacefully. The staff is over the top friendly and helpful, and I love the workout spaces, such as the GTX & Alpha areas. I love talking Nicholle's classes as she's always leading with such a positive attitude and I love being able to get a workout in without an insane amount of people parking or hogging equipment. If I want a pool, I'll go to Gaithersburg but otherwise, Rockville is the way to go! read more

I visited this location on a guest pass last Thursday. This is a beautiful & clean gym with exceptional customer service from the front desk gentleman to the cafe' staff. They both went above and beyond to answer my questions. I enjoyed the shower amenities, (please figure out the wet floor problem directly outside of the showers) sauna, hot tub and steam room. The gym equipment upstairs is very modern and well appointed. I was shocked at the smaller size and median age group of around 45. The Centreville location Is much larger and younger around the same time of day. If you are young and hip; this doesn't seem like a people watching gym like equinox in Bethesda. But if you want to get a great workout with awesome modern equipment with small crowds and no wait times, try it for a day. read more

I haven't been here in a long time. I loved the spin classes and Zumba, had my shoe stolen while I was showering (I guess someone thought they were left behind) luckily I had my shower shoes. On a rainy day I left my umbrella at the door with others (mine had my name QUIST if you see it around) that was also stolen. The hot tub is always dirty, the steam sauna was always wonderful until that person who comes in and decides that everyone should listen to her conversation (ladies even if it's not in English we can hear you, understand you and most of us don't want to! So stop! It's RUDE). The hot sauna is HOT! Like seriously! I keep forgetting how hot the wood gets and get reminded every time my Legs and ass hit it. Last of my rant!! I promise! Ladies! They have a salon in the damn building! Why are you dying your hair and fuming up the place? It's horrible and sure who cares they are not ur towels, but this is not classy! you are not classy! Lifetime has become terribly unpleasant. The members are expected to withstand construction, changes in ability to use the restroom in the locker room, parking problems, and so much more without complaint. At the same time, they have changed their membership levels to create an extremely low Level membership in order to force members to move up to the more expensive memberships, which simply give them what they used to receive before these changes. To me, this, just appears as an opportunity to force people into higher-level more expensive memberships. Lifetime now appears to be only focused on money, and while certainly businesses make money, their treatment of many of their members is just abhorrent. read more

Not a very nice lifetime location though the membership fees make it seem that it should be. The front desk people are very nice but the 5 star experience ends there. The facility is extremely outdated & old looking. The images shown here on Yelp are very strategic angles - be prepared to be disappointed when you see this place in person. The amenities are the only things I like about this gym & even that feels outdated. I signed up for a barre class once and the teacher never showed. I never bothered rebooking another class. The parking lot has been in ongoing construction for a year at this point. To my knowledge it's a simple parking garage not sure why it's taking so long but you will need a car wash from driving on the gravel and makeshift parking spaces. I recently got an email that my membership rate is going up $10. I responded asking what upgrades I can expect to see but never received a response. It's just an okay gym I think the fees are a bit steep for what you actually get. If they were looking for ways to put money back into the facility the parking garage was probably the least of concerns but go off lifetime. read more

This place irks my soul sometimes actually most times, there are a lot of men walking around funky !! I mean bad Body odor and taking up most of the equipment . They will leave there things at one equipment to go on another then when I tried to use one they've abandoned , I had to wait so he could finish his set!!???. One time during Covid this guy dipped his entire face in the water faucet and spit the water out. I was soo disgusted and he was extremely sweaty . Some of the women wear tons of makeup and extra tight fitting garments to walk around and do nothing but take up oxygen and space . I hardly see any trainers and if they are on site they look miserable . I was told a trainer was 200/hr . The cleaning crew is the only ones that do a good job, there are a few at the front that are nice literally can count on one hand . The tall blonde I hope has left because she never never spoke all she did was gossip at the front with her friends. I left face wash and when asked if it was turned in ,not one person cares to look for it and it's not some drug store face wash also someone stole my bands , I never saw them again. It's a custom band so it's no way someone could mistake it for the gym equipment or theres. I keep forgetting to cancel or do month to month because I have to leave . I came to visit family for 5 days, and the importance of maintaining my fitness was a non-negotiable for me. So I was on the hunt for a place to workout! Knowing the seemingly good reputation Lifetime Fitness has all over the US, I picked this location. (I had just visited a Lifetime in Olathe, KS last month and was over the top impressed with their customer service! Bravo!! They offered me a 38-day pass for $30, they were genuine, kind, and super helpful.) Well, I was HIGHLY disappointed with the customer service at this location. I spoke to 'Milan' on the phone, who was not accommodating in the least. His demeanor was cold and curt. I was hoping he'd offer any type of discounted short-term pass, but nope!! It was $160 for 38 days, or $40 a day for a guest pass. BUT when I went in to take advantage of the FREE 1-day pass, the front desk lady told me $35 for the guest pass. So what's the truth here, Milan? Are you trying to rip someone off? I also asked about any type of discount for health care workers and that was a hard "no!" That's disappointing, especially since you have a huge banner plastered upon the entrance giving thanks to the healthcare professionals... All in all, the customer service was horrendous and I couldn't imagine the service if I WERE a member. And I think that's the issue with all of these corporate gyms, it's all about the $$$ and exclusivity. No one actually cares about giving genuine customer service in these types of corporate establishments. Way to be discriminative Lifetime Fitness! I came here as a guest for the day & every aspect was on a positive point. I only utilized the whirlpool, steam room & sauna, & all were highly sanitized & tidy. The Ladies' Locker room was spacious & fully stocked with every item you can think of to aid in your post workout grooming. I took a small tour & fell in love with the intimate Pilates studio that consists of 5 machines & the cadillac. The spin room was synchronized in perfect order & the weight room (the 1st floor) was huge & overly stocked with exercise apparatuses. My favorite place, was the Life Cafe! They offer a offer a full range of fresh food packaged & made to order, smoothies, juices, healthy snacks, supplements, & even footwear. There's plenty of room to sit, eat & watch the TV's. There'a also a sitting area before gaining access to the locker rooms with a couple of TV's. The front desk employees, sales team & trainers I crossed paths with were all friendly, especially the Account Executives :-) The facility is 24 hour access & offers pretty good membership rates without any contracts. read more

Ive been going to Lifetime for about 2 years now now. since the construction next door to the Rockville center, parking is hard to get in the garage. I find the staff their mostly okay, with a few with attitudes. The seems to be little cleaning going on during the day in the gym, with one or two staff ticking up towels in the locker room. The gym itself could be alot cleaner. The people that go there seems to not care that they just sit on the equipment while texting while others should remember sometime called earbuds...rather than listening to their music while holding their phone....again, staff doesn't seem engaged. read more

This place is a scam. They keep cutting the hours and services but still raising the fees. Using COVID as an excuse for cut backs and lousy services stopped being valid a year ago. Some examples -Weekend hours recently cut back to COVID times without any explanation or timeframe for this change . -No ladies showers without even an email or mass text to give a heads up so you could plan to visit another location or not go at all. -And the cleaning people are so intrusive, sweeping around your feet while you are naked and just trying to change clothes. All this while constantly increasing membership fees. If anything everyone should get a fee reduction since this location is no longer 24 hours (which is why many people chose this gym in the first place). My advice, spend a few more bucks and join Equinox or try OneLife. Or save a lot of money and join YMCA Big scam and hugely disappointing. read more

The Rockville location finally did some upgrades to its facilities. I still prefer the Gaithersburg location, as the parking here is just an absolute nightmare. Good luck finding parking during peak hours and weekend mornings. The locker rooms here are so more spacious than the Gburg location with nice big showers, and you have a key to the locker instead of remembering a 4 digit code and locker number. Don't know how many guys in Gburg who can't find their locker. Wish the ceilings were higher here though, in main room. Seems to make the place more cramped than what it really is. Overall it is equivalent to a sport and health and big step above your other less expensive box gyms, but is it worth the price without an indoor or outdoor swimming pool, or basketball courts? That is your call to make. The Lifetime in Gaithersburg offers all of that and more, but it's more $$. read more

I have asked management many times to have the rooms vacuumed but they ignore everything. This gym is RIDICULOUS - I love it. A friend told me about it how he had joined a 'premium' gym, and I had to see what the hype was all about. My idea of a gym has always been torn up astro turf like carpets with a slightly pungent smell, and the clanging of slightly oxidized 45lb plates and occasional grunt and groans. The front lobby of this place feels like one of the nicer hotels. Front desk staff is friendly and well dressed. There's a cafe that makes fresh protein shakes, quesadillas, turkey & avocado sandwiches, etc for a low fat, high protein snack afterward. You can realistically plan an entire Saturday there. Bring a change of clothes and drop off your drycleaning. Get your car washed while you're working out. Get your hair cut when you're done. Get a massage, sit in the sauna, get a shower in, grab a bite to eat, and get in your freshly cleaned car for a night out on the town. Back to reality - the food at the cafe is not "awesome" or anything, but, it's convenient. Fresh fruit smoothies and any protein shake you want. The food is decent. The hair salon - they could really use a barber for mens haircuts. The hairdresser that cut my hair left me looking a little lopsided. The size of the gym - I've pulled up and seen the parking lot PACKED, but when I walk in, it's so big that it never ever seems crowded at all. The best way for me to put it - you spend your life to be surrounded by nice things and be in nice places. This is true with your car, home, and clothing. This place feels like you're working out in Fiddy Cent's basement on cribs or something. You actually "want" to be there (at least I do). And, it's 24 hours. I've had a day slip away from me many times, and was able to stop in for a midnight workout. I think if I ever move, there had better be a LTF nearby! . read more

This is my favorite gym. Life Time isn't cheap - we are paying $169 a month for me and my wife. This also includes two hours of child care daily for my two girls - which is a huge bonus and really the main reason we chose Life Time. This only allows us in the Rockville location. If you want to workout in their other locations or workout at the new Life Time at Rio (opening in November - it's supposed to be the largest gym in the country) the price increases to $189 I believe. The facilities are really nice. No complaints. The men's locker room is huge, clean and looks great. The main floor is really never that crowded even on their busy Saturday/Sunday times. I've never seen a machine out of order. You don't have to wait for a machine. They have a Life Cafe, Yoga room and dedicated studio's for group classes. I haven't tried their spa services but plan to soon. I joined their TEAM Weight Loss group class which is $199 a month extra and meets every MWF at 6 AM. This is a great class taught by Sara. I also signed up for personal training sessions with Shelby. Both Sara and Shelby are professionals and make working out fun. I highly recommend getting your AMA score so you know your heart rate zones to maximize your workout goals. They even have an Iphone app called LT connect where you can monitor your heart rate (you have to buy a heart rate monitor) and choose a workout training program. The app will even coach you to increase/decrease your heart rate depending on what zone you are targeting. Can't wait to use the swimming pools at the Rio location when it opens. read more

I signed up at their Columbia location, which seemed more worth with it since there is a pool, basketball courts, and way more equipment available. I spend about $100 a month, and in my opinion there are many other cheaper alternatives. Yes there is spa and "cafeteria," but those things are also overpriced. The size of the gym itself is not very big and can feel cramped at times especially on the top floor if it's busy. The plus side is that they are open 24 hours and is ideal for late night gym rats or early birds. This place can get pretty packed after 5pm on weekdays, but does slowndown after 8pm. The gym is always very clean and the staff is friendly. The weekends around noon are not crazy busy, and the weekend evenings are pretty empty. If you are like me and just looking for a cheap, simple/effecient place to exercise, I would look elsewhere. read more

They offered to refund the personal training but that never actually occurred. We asked to cancel our membership and were told it was taken care of. 9 months later I get an email that our account has a balance. I call and they say the best they can do is clear the overages and close the account. No refund for all the months they kept charging us and no refund for personal training sessions that were prepaid. read more

I came for a tour of this gym without any intention of joining the same day as I have a fitness center in my office building. Gym is just minutes from my condo so I thought I'd check it out. There is a huge array of cardio, treadmills, stair masters, stretch machines, free weights and much more. The best part is you will never have to wait for anything. 24/7 gym people!!! So many classes to choose from and you get a real workout. The spa is breathtaking and jacuzzi, steam room etc are a huge plus. The showers all have glass doors. Toiletries provided! Life Salon is full of professionals that have beauty on the brain. Erika the newest barber and has won my vote ergo the haircut in my photo. It's obvious that member comfort is top priority at Lifetime because just to assure a cushioned transfer into my new gym they offered a VIP pass for my good friend. This way I can start off with my workout buddy! Now for the cons which will be very limited in this review. No Squash ball or tennis court (not that big a deal) Membership a little on the expensive side (keeps out the unsavory in my opinion) Parking lot can be a bit more well lit at night. That's it! I have been going through headache and stress since I was mis-sold a membership that would "save me money" instead of just selling me a month-long pass. I went into the sales office asking for just a one-month pass as I was just visiting family from across the country. Trevor the sales guy didn't properly inform me about cancellation procedure apparently and now it's been six months and although I've spoken with the general manager and another employee they CONTINUE TO CHARGE MY CREDIT CARD! I've waited this long to post publicly because I was hoping they'd take care of this finally but although I'm still 2500 miles away from this location, they have just charged me again. I have many emails' worth of proof of clear communication with the GM that I live across the country and never intended to hold an actual membership with them. The account should have been closed after the month I intentionally paid for and used. Buyers beware - if you only need a month just pay the extra bit it costs, don't join because it will be months of stress and headache (and still isn't resolved). read more

I joined LifeTime under a corporate plan sponsored by my employer and I was blown away during the tour. The facility is gorgeous, from top to bottom. Much of it is off limits to guests due to Covid restrictions, but the exercise equipment is all available. Everything is super modern and clean, and they've taken many precautions to allow social distancing. I returned as a member and had a great workout. They've really gone above and beyond to keep the staff and patrons safe in these trying times. Everyone I've spoken to has been so friendly, Teal and Milan in particular both left a wonderful impression. I've been telling all my friends about this location and I look forward to having them see it in person once the pandemic is over. In the meantime I'm just happy to be easing back into physical fitness again! read more

I really don't know why people pay MORE for an "Athletic" level club like this one. Its about a third of the size of a normal Lifetime Club and doesn't have pools. You pay more for less. The actual work out area upstairs is nice but very small. It gets extremely crowded on weekends. The amenities are very nice, don't get me wrong. But what are you really paying for here? If you compare this Lifetime with Golds, Sport and Health, Fitness First, etc, it will impress you. If you compare this Lifetime with other Lifetime clubs, you will be pretty disappointed. read more

I am in LOVE...with my new gym, LTF in Rockville! I want to shout it from the rooftops. I am in awe of this place. I went for the first time today and I must say all I could do was swoon at the awesome amenities that I will list for you here: Complimentary workout and bath towels, locks on lockers (no more bringing my own), beautiful showers with all the toiletries provided, decent hair dryers at every station, sauna/steam room and hot tub come with the membership, tons of yoga, spinning, pilates, cardio classes, a small cafe in the gym, flat screens everywhere, a spa and salon...it's amazing! And the class schedule is packed with options so you never have to wait around for a class like at Bally's. I will have to see how the instructors are but it seems this place would attract the best. They also have complimentary trainer sessions - 2 per month and you get 8 guest passes and a VIP list to have family and friends come to try it out for 2 days. OK OK I know what you are thinking...how much does this cost? Well, to be honest it's very reasonable at $89 per month for what you are getting. Yes, it's a splurge and on the high side of the spectrum, however if you compare with other posh gyms (Results, WSC) it's in the same range. But the best part of this whole deal is there is NO yearly contract in other words YOU CAN CANCEL AT ANYTIME FOR ANY REASON. Believe me I asked the guy twice what was the catch, he said it's very easy to cancel just fill out a form and give it to the front desk. I must admit I am still skeptical...like when they do that stupid credit card scam where they never let you REALLY cancel but I saw a woman come in and ask to fill out the cancellation form and she didn't get any grief. Also, with that membership you can go to any club any where! So I can go to the one near my work in Centerville. They way I see it is I love yoga and I love cardio so I was sick of having to go to two separate places. And trust me Bally's yoga sucks! So most yoga studios are like $15 - $18 per session and you have to buy a package of 6 or more for like $100+ and I was also a member at Bally's for like $50 a month so LTF is a bargain. Plus, if I don't get my money's worth I can just cancel. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe Wash. Sport Club is about the same per month at $79 per month with year contract last time I checked...Fitness First and Gold's is up to like $40 or $50 a month with you stuck in a contract for at least a year and their clubs can't even compare! Seriously, all inclusive with sauna and hot tub...come on! it's a dream. They also have a 30 day money back guarantee so we'll see if I cancel and get my full refund in 30 days. Highly unlikely! Throw in a dry cleaner and you can knock out all of your Saturday chores in one fell swoop. But what really impressed me was their customer (member?) service. This is how I got in... My mother is a member, and I'm in Maryland for my Christmas vacation. She knows I try to go to the gym regularly, so she wanted to pick up a few guest passes for me to use while I'm here. She explained the situation to a staff member and asked what the best solution would be. Just like that, he handed her a guest pass that was good for the duration of my stay (two weeks). Don't believe them when they send you these free guest passes for 1 week to try their gym. They DO NOT actually give them to you. How do I know this? I went there myself and the guy refused to give us a 1 week trial with paying for the first month in advance. Terrible sales tactics. I'm writing this review after being a member for two years. At first glance, this place is gorgeous. Marble counters and benches, etc, etc. Coming from other gyms, this place looked like the gym of gods. Clean, pristine, high-class, and new machines. Don't be fooled. Over time, the warts began to show. Day staff are welcoming, however the General Manager is a douche, and the night staff have no people skills. The janitor is left in charge of the whole place. The steam room, locker room and shower area filled with dirty towels. Empty mouthwash cups littered the steam room. There is no pool, basketball court, or climbing wall; all of which are included in other lifetime locations, which charge less $$$. Why am I paying MORE for LESS. Hot tub is not hot; the showers get hotter than the whirlpool. It's dirty most of the time, and when they try to clean, it takes days, sometimes weeks. Finally, the trainers. Trainers barge into your workout station when I simply go for a sip of water. The first time this happened, I asked if the trainer and his trainee could work-in, as a courtesy. He told me that he would need the station for the next 15 minutes, exclusively. I let him know that he had taken my station when I went to get a drink of water. His response, "You should have brought a water bottle with you." Absurb. So I decided NOT to get ripped-off, NOT to get verbally abused by the night staff, and NOT to have my workout stations robbed by cash-driven trainers. Don't dump your money into this gym because of marble counters and benches. Be a member if you like to act prissy and get ripped-off. Love the facilities and staff. Great equipment and never super crowded. Would definitely recommend to friends
