I went this am and while one class is hardly the means for a rating, I found the studio meh as far as megaformer workouts. Don't get me wrong. This workout is difficult and not geared towards beginnings. The straps, balancing and movements cause one to need a few times to get the gist of it. Add on to the general difficulty! So why 3 stars for sculpt. Playlist and drill sergeant like instruction made the class not fun. She counted 20-19-18.... more repeatedly. Grrrr. I found myself repeated looking at the clock which is something I rarely do. In addition, music was circa 1980s and definitely a feed issue to the stereo because there was a scratchy sound for parts of the class. Moves and corrections were generally very good, however. As I've mentioned with other specialty classes it's the instructor that makes all the difference. I'm super spoiled I live in NYC and fortunately a couple of my favorite folks are not only at the tops in their field, some have even developed cult status (so says allure magazine). Best practices equal always a fresh playlist (I've never heard the same list twice for my favorites), good choreography, energy and corrections. So for $35 a class, I'd hope that I get just that. Otherwise I could go to the free classes at my gym. I think solid core which I rate 4.5 stars is better on instruction and energy, music also could be improved. 3 stars bc any megaformer class is a minimum of ok, but the extra factor is instruction and music.

I was told they'll accept maybe 20-25 people though I don't know where they'll go to fit comfortably! I found this place from a friend and because I got a groupon deal with her. Started off in a beginners class by Dawna. She was great! Super attentive, explained everything in detail and made you feel welcomed. I learned so much even though this wasn't my first time! She corrected my basic poses and it will help me for future classes! I'll definitely be here again and step up my game! They have a ton of different levels offered and convenient times! I was drawn here after taking a class from Mourien sponsored by the apartment complex I am living in. Mourien is super energetic and her enthusiasm is contagious. Her steps are unique compared to other classes I have been to. They are fun and easy to follow. Her studio is conveniently across the street from the apartment and right next to the very tempting brusters icecream parlor. It is a large dance space with a child care room and changing rooms. The space was essentially packed with devoted Zumba enthusiasts for the Saturday morning class with Mourien. Again, her dance moves were fun and I barely noticed that I was drenched until after the class. Classes can be purchased per class, packages (6, 12, 18), or unlimited monthly. Try the drop in class for $7 with Mourien and I bet you will be hooked.
