I have been coming to this pizzeria since they opened in the DC/Arlington area years ago..... I was excited about the Mosaic location... first two times when we came it was great almost just like the original locations! Today, 11/5/2022, this place SUCKS. It's ran by kids or teenagers that literally hesitate about what their name is, forget about getting your table cleaned, they will wipe around the existing plates. I was given the wrong order TWICE and the wrong bill once. The guy that thinks runs this place with the anchor tattoo on his face clearly can't. He's got attitude, should not be dealing with customer service! Horrible. Never coming back to this location. read more

We placed and paid for our order online. When we arrived they didn't process it, we waited another 15 min. When we got our pizzas they did not include any napkins, silverware or any other condiments we selected online. Staff seemed clueless, some untrained teenagers who could care less. Iwaited at the pickup windows after waiting the 15 min. The girl just turned around looked at me and didn't even bother to open windows. So, I went inside. The. This was our first time at this location and we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere! Everything in the area seems new and the restaurant has a great vibe. I had the Diavola, which was amazing, as always. My wife had the garlic tomato artichoke and she enjoyed it a lot. We finished off the meal with some gelato, which was incredible! We love the lemon since there is no food coloring and has that great sour lemon flavor as well as the salted caramel and the hazelnut chocolate (which is basically like a ferro rocher). Pupatella is such a staple of the DC area that it should be an absolute must on everyone's list of places to eat when visiting or if you are a local, this is the go-to spot for amazing Neapolitan pizza. This is a more convenient location to get to as it has its own parking lot unlike old location in Arlington. I love the arancini and the pizza is thin crust like the way they make it in Rome, Italy. The sauces and mozzarella di buffalo taste wonderful. You order at the counter and you can dine in or carry out. Limited drink selection but they do have bubbly blood orange flavored drinks as another reminder of Italy. Great to go with friends and family but not a spot to have a date. Would give 3.5 if I could. The ingredients are fresh and you can taste it. And the appetizers are fantastic (arancini, panzarotto, and mozzarella bites). The side salad was pretty bland and the arugula wasn't great so I wouldn't get that again. The pizza was very good, but I don't get all the hype... I've had better Neapolitan pizza at 2 Amy's and Crust. The sauce and cheese were excellent and made for a nice bite and the crust had nice flavor and texture, although there was no crisp on the bottom, it was just soggy unfortunately. The reason I didn't give 4 stars is because the service was seriously lacking - there were only 3 other families/couples in the restaurant and yet we couldn't get anyone to refill our water, clear dirty plates, etc. Also it was very expensive. We had a small side salad, the Frittura Sampler, and 4 pizzas with no drinks and it was $90 plus tip. I'm not saying we won't go back... because it was good. This location is a mess. I love the Pupatella in Arlington but my experience at the Mosaic location has been very disappointing. My pizza was served cold because they mixed my order with someone else's. The bruschetta is a joke -- it's just loaded, sautéed cherry tomatoes on toasted bread, come on! This is the mosaic district and I expected more or to be on par with the other restaurants in the area. The manager was also rude to my dad when he had asked twice about our pizza order which was 45mins late when he went to pick up (second time ordering, hoping the first experience we had was an honest mishap). What a disappointment as this was my first time eating at this restaurant. The outdoor service was terrible as the girl didn't seem to have a clue on how to wait on patrons. What great place for pizza! The crust is soft, fluffy and perfectly chewy. My favorite is the mushroom white pizza because the flavor of the mushroom came out perfectly. Fairfax finally has good pizza, full stop. Now, it isn't perfect. It's Neopolitan pizza, so if you're looking for a New York style slice, you're going to be disappointed. Ordering can also be confusing -- you can sit down at a table and get served by a waiter, who will handle some of your ordering, but if you want to order a pizza, you have to get up and go inside and order yourself and get a placard to put on your table. You can also just go straight inside and order, and then find a table after. Either works, but it's kind of confusing. Onto the food -- I don't particularly understand people complaining about a $12 personal ~10" pizza. Each pizza itself can easily feed 1, maybe 2 people depending on your appetite. That's comparable pricing to getting a meal at Chipotle, Five Guys, or other fast-casual restaurant but the food at Pupatella is significantly higher quality. We also ordered arancini, which were delicious, but a tad expensive at $3.50 per arancini. read more

Dear manager/owner - You have kind servers and staff - but: (1) they are overwhelmed and (2) there are no systems in place (or badly implemented). - drinks ordered when sat down took 10-15 minutes to be received - pizza came out warm and soggy, likely because it was sitting back there for 5-10 minutes. So, it was lackluster experience and I wouldn't return. This is sad because: - when i reheated my leftover pizza at home it was crisp and NOT soggy and perfectly delicious. So, I know you make good pizza! - if it's delivered to the eater promptly. Fixes: - systems in place to deliver drinks quickly - we saw runners having no idea which table appetizers are supposed to go to: you need a system - have a runner whose job is to deliver pizzas FAST once they are done cooking. read more

So happy pupatella opened in mosaic. I am not a pizza person , so I rarely ever get it, but this is the only pizza I crave and love. It's light and all the ingredients are so simple and fresh. We stumbled upon Pupatella in the shopping center because it was a Saturday night and most of the places we'd passed by looked like they had at least an hour wait until our party of 4 could be seated. It had a sign outside saying it was relatively new. The atmosphere was good. People constantly going in and out after enjoying their pizza. You can see behind the counter of all the workers making pizzas and the two giant pizza ovens. The chefs were all wearing maroon fedoras which added to the experience. My friend and I ordered the arancini which are fried risotto balls & the prosciutto pizza. The arancini was pretty good. It was only two for $7 which is pricey. The pizza had too much arugula and too little prosciutto or sauce. The crust wasn't very good. Not bad, but I'd try another place in the mosaic shopping district before I go back here. read more

Listen...each person working at this location on 8/19 around 7 pm needs a raise. My husband's 40th birthday dinner reservations were cancelled last minute by Gyu Shige (few doors down) due to some unforeseen circumstances with their fire code blahblah.. anyway, we desperately needed a last minute place to go with 20 plus people on a Saturday night.... Well, that's how we ended up here. I'm sure the staff did not expect us but they truly made us feel welcome. They rearranged tables for us , kept the shots coming... and the best was when my husband's cake came out- they even dimmed the lights!!! Ordered 20 minutes ago, still waiting. My order was 1 pizza, 1 panino. Theres 2 customers in the restaurant eating, rest is empty, and 4 employees just laughing, talking, giving each other high fives (literally). The status of my order on their website hasnt changed from waiting, not sure if it's even started. No clue what theyre doing but it aint working. Don't want to be rude and ask if they've started my order when it's obvious the website status tracker should be telling me...right? Edit: i walked up to the window and my orders apparently been done for a while. I like to eat my pizza right away while its piping hot and when i reached in to eat a slice, it was warm. What a shit experience. Food was okay so leaving 2 stars. If you have no choice, their panino is good but service/employees are...well don't have high expectations is all. edit#2: alright, i went back a month later to give it another shot. still not ideal service but it's probably their process that is flawed rather than the people working there. when you order a pizza and panino, the pizza is usually finished right away and sitting in cold while waiting for the panino to finish (which takes 15-20 mins). They need to fix that. Well I went back and same shit happened. cold pizza. I was pissed. Some manager (with curley hair) working there noticed I was pissed and insisted that they remake a new one so it's hot. I can't give a low rating after that. They're working their best out there. We've done takeout and dine in and great experiences for both. To have the best food experience dine in is really the way to go so you get the pizza when it's hottest. Takeout was still good though. When you dine in you order at the counter, take a number, and someone brings your food to your table. So it's sort of somewhere between fast casual and restaurant style dining. The staff were still very helpful at providing water, plates, and clearing food when we were done. So glad this location is finally open. read more

This was my first time in the Mosaic location and I was surprised by how not good it is. I've been to the Arlington location several times and the pizza is always delicious. There were a few issues with the mosaic location: -- we ordered the Amalfi salad and asked for the apples on the side due to an allergy. Turns out - this is not possible. No items can be on the side - only removed. Weird but ok. The salad was pretty good without the apples. -- the margarita pizzas are delish but not piping hot - even though they come straight from the oven to the table - they just aren't hot. -- the onion tart is by far the worst pizza I've ever had. It smelled foul - like something was rotten on the pizza. It was inedible - On the upside - they kindly removed from the bill and let us order another pizza. The server was very nice and accommodating - just not a great food experience. read more

Do not expect to get your food. After waiting 50 minutes for one pizza, we left being served no food. My mom and I went out for lunch and decided to share one pizza. After 30 minutes we had not received our food, nor given any update. After 40 minutes my mother went up to the staff and asked for an update and was told our pizza was given to the wrong table. A few minutes later we were told our pizza just came out of the oven, and the staff even pointed to the pizza that was supposedly ours. After waiting 5 minutes for "our" pizza that he had pointed to, we still had nothing. We left hungry and without any acknowledgement from our waitress or management. Sigh... i wish i could rate 3.5. Pupatella is legit one of the best possible DMV pizza spots comparable to what you will experience in Naples, Italy. I mean, im so impressed with the crust, cheese and sauce combo. I usually order a marherita which they call a classic DOC. Super good quality pizza. However, Anyone that follows my reviews understands how much I value service. That's where the mosaic location struggles and its tough with such a young staff who don't understand how to ensure the best quality service. Which shouldn't be an issue for take out orders. Thankfully when I was there, a manager witnessed my discontent and totally redeemed my experience. Of course I'll return to pupatella and then I hope I can increase my star rating. This location seems to lack good management. Staff seem restless and wander back and forth- not a comfortable dining environment. Our pizza order was wrong (gave sautéed onions instead of red onions). Under cooked pies, the center of every pizza plate had a liquid puddle (kinda gross) and not enough sauce- almost like they watered down the pizza sauce. I dont recommend this place, which is unfortunate for the future of Pupatella bc it has the makings of a great hang out spot but if a restaurant cant make great pizza, people have a LOT of other options for pizza. read more

Above all the waiting it wasn't worth the wait because the pizzas were cold and bland very disappointing. The service was not the best either server apologized but didn't really mean it.
