I was excited to finally see this place opened up. It's located at the less busy/quieter end of Mosaic (in my opinion) which is better. The location is pretty large and has a nice outdoor section right out front. We came in around early dinner time on a Saturday so we got lucky and we combined tables so we could seat our party of 9. Same idea as the other locations, pay at the register and it gets dropped off at the table. We got a couple orders of the burrata, arancini, the Diavola, Classico, Prosciutto Arugula, Margherita, and Caivano pizzas. As expected the pizza (specifically the crust) was still A1 like every other location. The toppings/cheese were plentiful. The burrata was a lot better than I remember. Came on a bed of arugula and tomatoes with prosciutto and bread. It was a hit. Didn't get to try the arancini but I knew it was great already. Service was on point and all the servers were very accommodating and gave us refills regularly. This is probably our new go to Pupatella location since it's a lot closer! Parking can be crazy on weekends though if you're not familiar with Mosaic. read more

Came in with three people on a Friday evening. Not too busy and they have a happy hour. The appetizers were small portioned / just okay. Can probably skip on these and go straight for the pies if it isn't that busy. The pizza itself is tasty. Cheese was as 6 or 7/10 but I thoroughly enjoyed the crust. Good texture, not soggy but bendable to eat a folded bite. They have a lot of combinations and toppings so will come back to try the others. Pretty good pizza. read more

Happy to see this place finally opened near me. I used to make the long treks to The Arlington location whenever I have a craving for a great pizza. I'm not sure if the reason is this new place or not, but I find the pizzas to be ok, not as good as the ones in Arlington. What really wow me is how big this restaurant is. It is huge w a bar(not full), outdoor seatings, and plenty of tables inside. This is a plus for me. The decorations are very nice. The large wall with graffiti reminds me of downtown LA or Queens in NYC. When you walk in, someone will give you a menu at the door so you can check out all the offerings. Then you can process to the register and order. You will be given a number plate and find a table to your liking. Someone will eventually bring your order to your table. Now for the pizza. The pizza came out not as hot as the ones that I consistently get in Arlington. Not sure why. Maybe all the staffs here are new and still learning. It's still the best pizza place around here and a great addition to Mosaic. I will come back again for sure and see if it will get better read more

Really good pizza! My son and I were interested in trying the new Mosaic location. We had enjoyed their pizzas in their original Arlington location a few years ago and were hoping for a similar great experience. And they did not disappoint! We both ordered the Pepperoni (one of my favorites). As expected, there was a great balance in flavors. From the dough (which was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside), to the sauce (which was smooth and not acidic), to the health amount of pepperoni on top. True Neapolitan! The only downside is the price. If it was more affordable, I think I would be a regular. read more

I have been to the Ballston location so decided to try this one out. Very new, great pizza and lots of room to enjoy it. We went on a Saturday and the place was not that full. Lots of employees behind the counter and on the floor cleaning tables. The place looked extra clean and we decided to order Margheritas as well as a personalized one for myself. The cashier was attentive but seemed shy which wasn't a big deal just don't expect to be catered to. The food came out pretty quick and the guy who dropped the food asked if we wanted any cheese or pepper which we got right away. Cool. 45 minutes later I get a call from the delivery driver who was at the restaurant and was told they didn't have our order. I called the restaurant and was told that because they were out of Brussels sprouts, instead of contacting us or simply removing the Brussels sprouts from the order, they opted to just not make any of it at all and not contact us either. So now we're starving and dinner-less. Would be 1 star except the pizza is good, though no better than what you would experience at another location. read more

I came here this past weekend to try this place out and thought it was pretty good! Their inside seating is great and they have outside seating as well. They serve pizzas, appetizers, sides, drinks and more. The vibe of this restaurant is more relaxed. It's definitely not a fancy type of restaurant. I visited this restaurant on a Sunday around 2 pm and they were not too busy. I enjoyed each pizza my group and I ordered. I ordered the Margherita pizza and fried mozzarella balls. My friends ordered the Pepperoni pizza and the Pesto pizza. The pizzas were done in about 20 min. The mozzarella balls came out about 10 min. I will say the price to me for their pizzas, sides and appetizers are way too pricey. The pizza tasted good, but they were not the best pizzas I've tried. The give you five fried mozzarella balls that are so tiny for almost $7.00. I was so disappointed how expensive it was. The pizzas did come out hot though which was a big plus. The service also needs a lot of work. The two waiters serving us honestly looked like they were not having it that day. They weren't around our table at all unless they came to give us our food. The service could have been a lot better. Overall I have to give this place 3 stars due to the not so great service and the price of the food. Paisano, no good. Pizza is the closest you can get to genuine Italian pizza but too many problems for the price. 1) 90 bucks for 3 pizza, a round of arancini and fried mozzarella and soda. 2) You asking me to pay a tip for service before receiving the service (min on the machine is 18%) 3) Price is too high for me standing in line to order at the register. If I ran out of my drink while I'm eating I have to get up and go pay at the register again. In the middle of my meal. Happened today. You can't possibly ask for that. 4) Pizza is the closest to genuine Italian pizza but lacks EVO. Tomato lacks San Marzano taste. They're smaller than a Neapolitan pizza in Italy but you charge more than twice. Rest of the menu is 100% American food. Arancini are such simple recipes I can't even. 5) We got there at 11:30, our 3 pizza arrived 30 MINUTES LATER and only 3 tables had customers. The runner brought the pizza to another table that just literally arrived. Can't you see they just sat down? So I had to chase him to get those pizza to our table. 6) I've been many times at your other location and I thought you'd make a real restaurant at this bigger place but I guess not. Paisà I wrote so much because you could make your place so good and serve TOP food but the only thing top is the price. Again asking for the tip to pay your staff before I even speak to a runner it's just plain disrespectful, you know that because every other review mentions it. Pupatella is a great spot for a Neapolitan slice! I've had take out from the Arlington location several times but this was my first time in the Mosaic location. The restaraunt is quite spacious with indoor and outdoor tables and has a great retro feel. The servers were very attentive and our food took a little bit of time however it was extremely fresh! We ordered an appetizer and two pizzas for 3 people and that was a good amount for us. They have several options for vegetarians which is great for my family and we really enjoyed the pizzas we ordered. The white spinach pizza and the red tomato artichoke. The Brussels sprouts were also tasty definitely recommend if you like them! Will definitely be coming back and would recommend for anyone looking for a sit down spot for a slice! read more

The pizza here was simply ok. The service was efficient and the arancini was cooked to perfection but the pizza their pride and joy was just mediocre. The dough was a tad too squishy for my liking despite their fancy oven. The toppings were perfectly fine but a pizza only has a few things it's being carried on, the toppings, the sauce and the dough. If one of those three things are off then the pizza fails to succeed. Sadly this pizza went 2/3 in its components. Just leave the dough in the oven for a tad bit longer in the future. read more

Pupatella opened up in the mosaic district and I went with my son and husband on a Sunday afternoon! The line was super super long, and it's basically you seat yourself whenever a table opens up. You'll order whatever you want to order (we ordered a preset pizza on the menu). Mine came with mushrooms and red sauce (I modified the preset pizza). My husband ordered the chorizo pizza, and we also got a side of meatballs. The two pizzas were both okay. It was super soggy and flopped when you picked it up. So I had to eat it with a fork and knife and cut some pieces off. My husband enjoyed the chorizo one! I didn't try it, but he said that it was decent. The meatballs were super soft and tender. I definitely liked the meatballs out of the 3 things we ordered. If you ask me, would I go again? Probably if I'm craving pizza and if I'm in the area and would want to pay a lot of money for pizza! I attended the May 10th Italian car show at the Mosaic and was told there would be a discount. Ordered a Classic DOC and was charged the menu price of $14 plus tax to take out to the car. So no discount. The pizza itself was so-so. Not much flavor and the red sauce could have come from the supermarket in a can. Plus there were black burn spots on the bottom of the crust that were bitter. Overall not bad, but overpriced for what was basically $1 worth of ingredients. read more

Observed people who simply ordered at the cashier get their pizzas before I did, whereas I had place my order online nearly 50 minutes before- no biggie. However, what could not be forgiven was the clear gap in quality at this new location vs other puppatella locations. Crust was droopy / soggy and quite bland (perhaps missing some salt?). I really want to like Pupatella off the area loving it, but can't and it's not for me. At the very beginning of the pandemic we tried Pupatella to-go and it was extremely soggy which we chalked up to getting take out and letting it steam in the box; after today's visit eating it fresh there seems like the sogginess is inherent no matter which way you have it. To their credit they do say their dough is thin, but personal preference I like some semblance of crust on the bottom and Pupatella has none. We had the bruschetta, margherita DOC, and a BYO w/ sausage and mushrooms; to their credit their ingredients are excellent and taste fresh. Also the end part of the crust is super good, just wish the undercarriage had some substance. The bruschetta was pretty disappointing, can make a better one at home. Also to management, please stop asking for a tip before I even get service. I tipped 19% on my order before getting any service and all I got was water delivered once and walking pizzas 10 feet to my table, never even got a refill on my water. I don't want to be a total Karen, but really bad norm from the pandemic asking for a tip before service is even received. Gave Pupatella two tries, but not for me, won't be back. Give me Emmy Squared's crispy crust over this any day. read more

We were very disappointed of the food here. My fiance is from NY so it's challenging to find good pizza here in the DMV. The presentation of the food for starters was horrendous as you can see and there wasn't much flavor. The bruscetta was just cherry tomatoes dumped onto 2 pieces of bread, the aranccini balls were just thrown in the bag unwrapped, both pizzas were very doughy and tasted under cooked and the arugula was just piled/pressed on top. We also moticed the cheese was "squeeky" while chewing. All of our food was also warm at best. We live across the street from the restaurant so food not being hot was of an unpleasant surprise. For the future: I hope this place can pull it together. A better presentation of food, longer baking time and a tad more flavor will do the trick! As neopolitan pizza enthusiasts, my hubby & I were very excited when we found out there was a new neopolitan-style pizza joint nearby. Ordered the panzarotti to start & they were absolutely amazing! Really nicely fried & the filling was divine - great ratio of potato to cheese & ham. We then got the classic margherita. The crust was crispy & chewy. The sauce was fresh & tangy. Overall, a solid pizza! Only critique I'll offer is that while the crust is good, it would be better if it was rolled out slightly thinner (this was a tad thicker than other neopolitan pizzas I've tried). Service is good too, especially for being so new. A lot of the staff are young, but they seem so enthusiastic which we enjoyed. We went on a Saturday evening when it was PACKED but the food still came out in a timely manner. Atmosphere is awesome ‐ the space is really well done & has such a cool feel with plenty of seating available indoor & outdoor. FINALLY ITS OPEN!!! Another great food option has finally opened in the Mosaic area. Located in the quieter section, but still close to parking garages and street parking. The space is extremely large so plenty of seating inside and outside. Was immediately greeted at the door and given a paper menu, although I already knew what I was getting...Margherita DOC of course! There was plenty of staff to help out and we got our pizzas relatively quickly. Still same taste and style as the other locations, just much closer now that we have moved out of Arlington. Very excited and can't wait to come back for my favorite pizzas and hoping to try some other items on the menu or beverages read more

I don't know what's going on with the ratings but I'm gonna chalk it to up to popular place opened a new location in a popular place. I've had pupatella in Arlington when I used to live there and it's the same thing honestly so if you like their pizzas you won't be disappointed. Most new places take a while to sort out customer service issues so I'm pretty positive about the mosaic location. I think the Arlington location was overhyped to begin, the pizzas are great but not lose your mind over it great. TLDR: if you like pizzas give them a try. read more

Really not sure why this location doesn't have at least 4 stars - it's great! Here's why: It's kid friendly! It's a go to choice for our family, which includes a 1 and 2 year old. They're always so accommodating with high chairs, moving tables around, and water in plastic cups with lids and straws. It's also right next to a little grassy area for the kids to toddle around, which is very helpful when they get restless. It has so much outdoor seating! We've always come around 5, on weekdays and weekends, and have never had any issue getting a table outdoors. The food is delicious! This is probably the most important part. It's all so fresh and clearly has quality ingredients. I've loved everything we've gotten here. Location is great. Mosaic can be a little crazy, but this place is set further back, with a parking lot very close by, so it feels less chaotic. read more

First time here. Pizza was pretty basic in my opinion. I ordered the Diavola recommended by our waitress. It wasn't terrible, but it wasnt that flavorful. The fried mozerella balls however was delicious. Plenty of cheese compacted in a tiny ball, and the marinara sauce was pretty good. The atomosphere is pretty confusing. The music doesn't really match the ambiance. Seemed like I was dining in a fancy restaurant during clubbing hours. Overall, might come back, but wouldn't recommend the place. Now for the service. Honestly our waitress is was pretty good! She was really friendly, honest, and easy to talk to. She gave really good recommendations and was patient with us when taking our order. read more
