The service was fast and efficient. The gent at the counter appears to be Punjabi, and doesn't speak English well, but he understands it just fine if you enunciate. Ambience is nearly non-existent, but it's in a truck stop so what would one expect?! Seriously. Folks don't go to truck stops for ambience or anything bougie. Now the food: I had the Goat Curry, which came with a solid portion of their Basmati rice with caraway seeds cooked into it. It is absolutely outstanding. Rich and slightly greasy the way good curry should be. A very rich brown curry sauce with loads and layers of flavor. Note for persnickety Americans: Goat anything is traditionally a bit greasy, and should be eaten with a bit of caution because there WILL be bits of bone, fat and well cooked gristle. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NORMAL with goat anything. You've been warned fair and square!! There was a generous amount of meat in the 16 ounces of curry, and the flavor was absolutely amazing. There's almost no flour in this curry. Instead they thickened it with well cooked veggies, and the depth/breadth of flavor with layers was glorious.. The heat level, ordered stock standard, was moderate, but if you like seriously hot stuff just ask. Well done for $21.00 out the door. Had I known then what I know now, I would have also ordered some dosa and the chutney. I'll be back every time the company sends me through the area. This place is seriously a hidden gem! I was born and raised in the Bay Area and had access to all the different types of food from all cultures I could ever want. Fast forward and now I live in a place where there aren't many options. We stopped at this gas station on the way to Oregon to use the restroom and I saw the small Punjabi Dhaba in the corner. I picked up a couple samosas and they were divine! So much that on our way back from Oregon five days later we made sure to stop here for lunch. The second time we got two chicken wraps and four samosas. The food is delicious, has the perfect spice, and their chutneys are very flavorful. Since we live in OR and drive to CA often, this was an unexpected delight on our drive and really gave us another option to burger joints and fast food. We had the chicken tikka masala and the Dahl. We got pakora for the app, paneer tandoori, and goat biriyani, an order of garlic and regular naan. It could have fed 4 or 5 people. I have come here a few times and food was good enough to come back however my last visit was pretty bad. I got there 10:30am and was informed that they could not make me mutter paneer because it was not yet 11 o'clock. I was informed I need to order breakfast food just made me excited. I asked for a dosa. My husband and I have come here for years and we recently had a horrible experience. We ordered the Matar Paneer, Butter Chicken, and some extra garlic Naan. He went to pick it up, noticed the Matar Paneer was missing but we in fact paid around 35ish for everything so he went back in and they REFUSED to do anything about it.
