Punch Burger - Burgers Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

Punch Burger has quickly become my favorite burger place in Carmel. I love that everything is made fresh and rather quickly. I have the turkey burger when I go and I love that it isn't dry! Their waffle fries are my favorite, seriously perfection. I ate the entire basket by myself. Although, the basket is definitely enough for two people. Their fries are just that good. If you like bacon on your burger, I know I do, they cook theirs perfectly. I also love the toasted buns. I will take punch burger over all the other burger places in that area any day! read more

Meat is not seasoned. The fries were great. Good service. Need some seasoning on that meat. Free cookies are nice.

Thai burger! Holy peanut butter Batman. Sweet Potato tater tots were great, they just need to offer maple syrup as a side. I ate there late, it was empty. read more

I had the new chicken cordon blue sandwich and side salad and it was dynamite. I've always enjoyed there menu and options and fresh burgers. Big fan. read more

Busy life precluded me from visiting the restaurant so this review is based on a DoorDash'd meal. We had their Punch cheeseburger and the Burnt Cheese with sweet potato tots and fries. Both burgers were good. All fresh ingredients and flavorful. Not overly saturated with fat. The tots and fries were crispy but still possessing their vegetable flavors. If you are looking for a local burger establishment this is the one for you. read more

This was my first time here, and I'd definitely go back. The waffle fries were SO good. You know how sometimes they can be soggy? Not these. A basket was the perfect amount for the two of us. We both had the vegan burger and loved it. A few reviews said they thought it was just a Boca patty, but it didn't look or taste like one to me. Grab plenty of napkins and maybe some silverware, though - it falls apart as you eat it and can make quite a mess. We'll definitely be back! read more

Punch Burger - Burgers Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

By definition, and I'm the one defining it, Punch Burger is an Indianapolis-based "chain" of burger joints focusing on grass-fed beef from Fischer Farms in Jasper, Indiana. Now, then, it should be acknowledged that the "chain" terminology should be taken lightly since there are, in fact, only two Punch Burger restaurants in existence at this point - the original in downtown Indy and the first franchised location in Carmel. While I work downtown and have been trying to find the time to make it over to Punch Burger, I was actually in Carmel looking for another restaurant, got lost in one of Carmel's six bajillion roundabouts and found my way to Old Meridian Street and the neighborhood that houses Punch Burger. So, what the heck. I was getting dizzy from all the roundabouts and figured it was time for lunch. The mission of Punch Burger reminds me a lot of Elevation Burger minus the ten pounds of grease that seems to come with Elevation's burger - I don't care if it's healthier grease, it's still grease. Punch Burger has several specialty burgers along with a build-your-own option. As a plus, they just added chicken to their menu. Among their burgers, they offer angus beef, ground duck, ground turkey, vegan, and veggie options. If you build-your-own, you also get multiple choices for bread/buns, toppings, cheese, etc. Of course, the more you add the pricier your options can get. Punch Burger seemed like they were in line with the prices in most other gourmet burger joints in Central Indiana. This location has two entries with one leading directly to their ordering area and one likely being considered a "back" entrance. I used the back entrance that did have some accessible parking spots (Carmel tends to do these right), though it's worth noting that the actual ramp is to the right of these spots. The door is a relatively light glass door, though it does have a bit of a lip that might bump a smaller wheelchair. Seating tends to be either tables or a table/booth combo. Punch Burger has a rather simple and clean interior that I'd describe as contemporary. I went up to the counter and immediately tried to figure things out.The person working the counter was helpful and could clearly tell I was either new or just didn't quite know how things worked. She handed me a smaller menu and that helped. I ordered a build-your-own and kept it simple with a single 1/3 lb. patty with mayo - I did experiment ever so slightly by ordering it on Texas Toast. I ordered a side of waffle fries and a large drink (22 oz.). They have one of those Coca-Cola Freestyle machines, though I was disappointed that no iced tea options existed and the only iced tea option was a bottled iced tea - I will give the employee credit as she could tell I was disappointed and told me it would be easy to switch to a bottled drink. While this seems like a minor issue, I'll be honest that the lack of fountain or brewed iced tea would easily lead me to choose Bru Burger just a few blocks away. Yeah, I consider it that important as most soft drinks make me ill (and I did drink Diet Coke and it did make me ill). I was a little thrown off that they offer a tipping option on their credit machine - they do bring your food to you, but I still find that a tad tacky even if it does stop at 9%. The burger was a delight and served as ordered. I really loved the Texas Toast and the burger was good, considerably less greasy than Elevation and felt satisfying without absolutely stuffing me. The waffle fries are a definite winner - nicely browned with a distinct flavor that felt natural and not novelty. It was a good meal for a decent price. The atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable. I sat there and read my Sunday paper and never felt rushed. The ketchup dispenser, they used Red Gold, is a tad high for someone in a wheelchair but I was able to access it with a good stretch. Would I go back? The lack of iced tea bothers me most. Other than that, it would be a no-brainer. While it's probably not my favorite burger in town, it's still a good one and I love that Punch is local. I don't live in Carmel, though I'm there often enough that Punch will be an option. Next time, I'll either go for a bottled iced tea or be content with one of their flavored water options from the fountain. My entire meal came in at just over $11 - certainly higher than fast food, but you're also getting healthier food and supporting local. I should note that they serve up a handful of local craft brews. That's also always a plus. While I'm not much of an alcohol drinker, on occasion I'll grab a brew and it's definitely an option here. They also have milk shakes and, while I can't imagine ordering a salad at a burger joint, they do offer up a side salad. read more

Simply awful.... DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! The person who helped me was sweeping the floor when entered, no greeting and then reluctantly went to the register. She provided no help with ordering just frustratingly handed a menu to us. Then she didn't wash her hands and and started making our food. The hamburger buns were stale and the burger was slightly undercooked. The fries were good but the chocolate shake was not blended and tasted funky like the milk was bad. Just awful, simply awful, I will never eat here or at any of these restaurants again and may put a call into the health department.... read more

There is something I really like about this Punch burger that goes beyond the food (although that's pretty great too). You walk into wide open space with tables lining the walls. You can see the entire cooking area as well as all the employees, who truly seem to like working there. The entire menu is written on a chalkboard wall and you can choose from pre-designed burgers or create your own. The meat comes from a local farm so you get to support the community in that way as well. There are also special items, for example, they have a duck burger going on right now and they previously had a chorizo burger. Soon good. Burgers are cooked medium well but they will gladly make it medium for you if you ask! Fries are standard waffle fries and there are milkshakes (which I haven't tried yet) as well as beer options -in case you need a pick me up at lunch. Kid option is a slider and fries. The staff checks on you to make sure everything is to your liking. It's just a cool place and worth checking out read more

Very solid burger. Especially for the price. The burnt cheese burger is fantastic--a burger covered with a burnt topping of crispy cheese. The morning burger is unique; I'd never consider adding cream cheese to a burger, and I live life on the edge. The real kicker is, that even though the burgers are a 1/3 lb, the abundance of toppings means that I am getting at least 1/4 of my wife's burger. Wooo. The sweet tater fries are slightly softer than regular tots, but they make up for it with being very fresh-tasting. The waffles fries are fantastic. Straight 10/10, like the pain I feel when I try to clip my ingrown toenail. Things I think they would benefit by adding: 1. Give the option to double up on the patties 2. Offer a bourbon(s) to go alongside the great draught choices they have 3. Offer a bunless option, for us meatatastic ketoers. 4. Providing little buckets so, if one so chooses, they can pull the trigger and have a second go read more

Great dinner stop on our way to northern Indiana. I tried on Yelp to find a fast casual spot for dinner as we passed through Carmel and it steered me well as usual. Husband had something with blue cheese and I had the burnt cheese, which is a burger made for people who "accidentally" drop some cheese directly on the skillet when they're making burgers or grilled cheese. Kind of a best of both worlds situation--gooey and chewy. The burgers themselves were delicious--held together well but not dry at all. The fries were solid. Husband was pleasantly surprised to see a few beers on tap rather than just bottles. The restaurant was not very busy despite being a Friday night--perhaps it's busiest at lunchtime. The staff was great. Would definitely return. read more

After trying to find a dinner place to eat at, my friend and I finally decided to try Punch Burger. We went on a Friday night, and the parking for Punch Burger was fairly full, we got luck they we found a spot. Punch Burger had a hip, modern atmosphere with an order first and then an employee will serve the food. Punch Burger has build your own burgers, or already made burgers such as the burnt cheese burger. The person taking our order told us the most popular burgers were the burnt cheese burger and the Thai burger, a burger with peanut butter and an Asian salad infused. This burger joint only uses grass fed beef, as well as use locally grown foods. Because of this, the prices are a little pricy. For 2 burgers, with 1 side of waffle fries (extra) and 1 beer, the total was $24. Each burger is around $7.5, and sides costed extra. The staff members were friendly, and it was fairly busy! Great for on the go or to catch up with a friend. I recommend the burnt cheese burger with waffle fries! The Thai burger was unique, but lacking in flavor. read more

Punch Burger - Picture of the burnt cheese burger, and the Thai nudged in the back, along with a cup of beer. - Burgers Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

I love having Punch in the neighborhood, but I do think it takes a significant punch to my wallet. I ordered a burger, waffle fries, drink and a small tip and left spending close to $13. Sadly, I know they won't change their prices but when Bru arrives, I'll be hard pressed to go to Punch at the same price point. This is a tad steep for lunch time prices. The waffle fries are a home run. Ranch can be ordered by request and a must with any potato/starch/food/object. They were hot and crispy and had me going back for more like A Rod to steroids. The burger, which should be the star, was good. I got the burnt cheese burger with standard toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mayo). The burnt cheese was tasty as expected and the burger was a thicker patty that was as juicy as the day is long these days. But much like my Tindr game, I kept going back for more and left just feeling average after each bite. I wanted to be punched with flavor, but instead I was lightly grazed with a nice experience. Not bad, just not GREAT. I appreciate the fresh approach to burgers and will continue to support as a local business. The patio is a huge upgrade. Ps, I know that it pops up on every draft, but I do appreciate the Yelp pun to "put mustard on that review". Pps, irony noted that this location went from When Eddie Met Salad to Punch Burger, the opposite ends of the cholesterol spectrum. I guess Eddie never found that salad. read more

Definitely the best burger joint in the area with such low prices. The veggies are super fresh. They say everything is local and I believe them. Nice beer selection. They have ghost pepper cheese and it rocks. Spicier than pepper jack, but mild enough to stand. The waffle fries are the truth. You can spend $20 and feed two standard sized humans. They asked me if I wanted my burger well done or pink, but I don't think it mattered how I answered because it came out well. It was good though. Not really thick enough of a patty to matter. Next time I come here I'm going to concoct a 5 animal monster sandwich with beef, duck, turkey, bacon and egg. read more

We ordered DoorDash and while the two burgers and waffle fries were good, the crinkle cut fries were barely cooked. I had to cook them for 10 minutes in my air fryer to get them fully cooked/non-limp. read more

Good fresh tasty burgers and Fries to match. Service was outstanding and food came out hot!

Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm! Normally, the hubster and I don't seek out burger joints but on this night, that's what we were craving so we headed to Punch Burger. We used to live near this location and it was fun seeing how it has changed in the two years since we have moved. Punch Burger took what used to be a salad joint and vamped it up to a casual yet swanky burger joint. I don't know why but I really loved to chairs. I know, weird! We both ordered the punch burger. Mr. G ordered his as advertised but I made a few changes to mine. I subbed in a Turkey burger and added bacon. We also ordered the waffle fries for our side. We got our drinks and had a seat, maybe 5-10 minutes went by and our food was brought to our table. The order of fries was enough to share and how can you not love waffle fries?!? They were crispy and lightly seasoned. The burgers were great. I don't think I have ever had a turkey burger that has been that juicy and flavorful. Seriously! We both really enjoyed the food and the service received from the employees. The only gripe I have, and this is of no fault of Punch Burger, but the parking is atrocious. Not only are there several restaurants here fighting for parking but there are apartments upstairs whose tenants need somewhere to park as well. Whoever designed this place probably did not anticipate the popularity of the restaurants. But there is a Meijer directly across the street, so you can park there and walk. read more

Average - It was better than a fast food burger but nothing overly special. I had your standard burger on a wheat bun, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. It was okay. I got the side salad and it was jammed into this tiny plastic cup and hard to eat without being able to cut it. read more

It's really quite simple. You walk in. Order the Burned Cheese Burger on a Pretzel Bun. Hold the Onions. Basket of Fries. Diet Coke. (or a BEER ON DRAFT) Enjoy. It's kinda like an even mix between Five Guys and Bru Burger Bar. It's quality is on par with Bru but it's pricing is between it and 5Guys. Places like this will thrive while the Bagger Daves of the world will melt away in their own grease fire. How that place ever hit the national scene is beyond me. read more

Would recommend the Morning burger, HUBZ had the delicious burnt cheese burger, we ordered the "basket" of sweet potato fries enough to feed 5! Tip; Get the small! Also tried the root beer float, with soft serve & Barq's root beer, it was ok but prefer real ice cream to 'float'. Our only rule on vacate is no chain restaurants...turns out Punch burger is local with 2 locations..,would still come back for a burger!! read more

Yummy! Locally sourced meat. I've had the Good Morning burger with a fried egg and bacon it's AMAAZZZIING. And I've had the Aloha burger with teriyaki and grilled pineapple... Just thinking of them make my mouth water. Waffle fries are the bomb. I've had the sweet potato toys and they're good, but the waffle fries are better. Chocolate milkshake was pretty decent, not my favorite but I'm extremely picky when it comes to ice cream. Staff is friendly and they will add whatever to your burger (some things come at an extra cost). Place is well maintained and clean. I can't stop visiting this place. They're starting to recognize me. If you don't like burgers they have grilled chicken sandwiches and veggie burgers and grilled cheese on Texas toast. Try it you'll love it! read more

Very good burgers and shakes. Too many options. Helpful staff, especially with the broken Coke machine. Had a double burger with guacamole and cheddar cheese on a pretzel roll. Very good. Chocolate shake was excellent. Clean and well lit. Not crowded. read more

Punch Burger was one of the places on our list that we hadn't visited while living up north. I didn't catch the name of the gentleman helping us, but he was so kind and helpful in walking us through the menu. We chose our burgers and sat down. The food arrived quickly. Burgers were cooked perfectly. We tried the cheeseburger, texan, and a build-your-own. Everyone liked their burgers and toppings. The sweet potato tots and waffle fries with cheese (mmm...cheese...) were nicely crispy. The guys ordered shakes and really enjoyed them. We will definitely make the trip to visit PB again! read more

I wanted to like it. I really did. I love duck and was curious about the duck burger. The downtown location is a bit too far for me so I was really excited to see there was one in Carmel. I got a double duck burger (because I had read in another review that the patties were small) on texas toast with ghost pepper cheese and spicy aioli, My S.O. got a bacon cheeseburger and the others got cheeseburgers. We all got fries. It arrived quickly and correct. When my burger arrived I was a little overwhelmed, the patties were larger than I expected but that was OK. I would have been fine with one. It was a little messy. The burgers themselves were good but not very seasoned. The texas toast was texas toast bread but it wasn't really buttery or anything. Somehow neither the spicy aioli nor the ghost pepper cheese were very spicy. The "house made" pickles sounded like a good idea but they were not very "pickle-like", they were more like cucumbers VERY lightly cured in vinegar. My S.O. did not like the bacon. It's like that really wide thick bacon that is more like ham and it isn't crispy. These things weren't BAD exactly, just not what we were expecting. The one thing we all definitely liked were the fries. Cut to a few hours later, we all wound up sick. The only thing we ALL ate were the fries. I don't know if they were fried in old grease or what but it didn't agree with anyone's system. I feel kind of bad that it was my suggestion. read more

You can't go wrong with burgers and Punch Burger does it really well. Add fries and a coke free style machine and this is a place is an ideal spot for lunch. I was recently in Carmel for business and happened upon Punch Burger. I've been on a health kick but I sampled a slider at a tasting in my hotel, and said I have to have this. Literally, the burnt cheeseburger may be the best burger I've ever had in my life. First, the location is nice, open and modern. The staff is very welcoming and the owner comes off as very sincere and really trying to do something good. All very nice people. The burgers can be paired with a nice selection of wines and craft beers. It was all just excellent. I live in NY and know good burgers but can guaranty that I will go back whenever I am in Indy and will wait anxiously for a NY expansion. read more

Awesome food and service! Matt and his crew took great care of us (party of 15+). We all got something different, and it all came out exactly AS ORDERED and all together! Also great that the meats are sourced from local farmers. read more

Delivery is super fast with DoorDash! Unfortunately, Punch Burger messed up the order by forgetting the asian slaw on my duck burger and giving my guest waffle fries rather than regular fries. Otherwise the burgers were really good. Where else can you get a duck burger???!!! And delivered to your house in less than 30-min!!! Try the duck burger with bbq sauce, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickle slices AND ASIAN SLAW on a pretzel bun!!! read more

I had their turkey burger the other day and it was amazingly moist. Their fries are wonderful.

First-timer and I will definitely be back! I love burgers and the Burnt Cheese Burger was right up my alley. It was cooked perfectly. It was juicy and flavorful and the burnt cheese was perfections. There were also other parts of cheese that were gooey and melty and the entire experience was decadent. I ordered carry-out for lunch, but I imagine it would've been even better had I dined in. I also ordered the sweet potato tots; they had the perfect balance of sweet and salty. read more

Though the food was delicious the service was absolutely terrible! They only have one person on the bar and he complained about making every drinks and my table did not get service for about an hour. I'm not huge on burgers in general and rarely eat meat, BUT, that being said, if I was going to go Carnivore, I'd go to Punch Burger. If I go Carny, I go Punch Burger. :) read more

I didn't know what to expect when I went, but I was happily surprised. My group sat in a half booth/table situation. The vibe was casual. I was surprised that they also served beer. It wasn't too busy when we went around dinner time. I built my own burger. My group split crinkle cut fries and waffle fries and the waffle fries were gone first. They were both delicious, but whatever seasoning that was on the waffle fries was amazing. The cashier was patient with my group because it was all of our first times there. I did get several toppings on my burger and my bottom bun was soggy from the aioli and mushrooms, which was disappointing because it ended up falling apart once a took a couple bites. That didn't impact how great the burger tasted though! I just grabbed a fork and knife. I do wish that it wouldn't have fallen apart, but we had a few people in our group, so it's possible that mine was finished first. I will definitely go back. The fries, the burger, the atmosphere was just what I needed. read more

Have no idea how the food was. Nobody waiting I line at 2 pm and somehow neither employee even acknowledged our existence when we asked in and stood at the counter. Two people behind the counter, no eye contact, nothing ... weird. Walked across street to very nice peeps at the Stacked Pickle. So long story short, no idea if the food is any good. read more

"We all need to make time for a burger every once and a while." Punch Burger is a burger joint that I will always make time for. They deliver on their burgers! In between fast food and a full-service restaurant, you can enjoy seating inside or on the patio and drink a beer, eat a burger and waffle fries. My favorite is the Thai burger. Who would of thought peanut butter on a burger could be so good?! I had my doubts. However, my first bite was light and refreshing. They pair a reasonable dollop of peanut butter with a crunchy slaw and juice patty. Nicely done Punch Burger! read more

This used to be by far my favorite burger place in the entire Indy area. Healthy, fresh, and organic food is important to me, so Punch had almost everything I was looking for in a burger place: Grass-fed beef, an extensive array of options to build one's burger, and coke fountain drinks. Like any good burger place, it had one significant flaw. At Bru Burger, it's Pepsi products (yuck!) and very slow service. Here, it's the fries and ketchup. I mean, seriously, you already have an all-natural burger place, you buy your meat from directly from a farm (even the bacon), and you can't hire a guy for $10/hour to peel potatoes and yams and make your own fries? Instead, Punch serves frozen, pre-fried industrial waffle fries, sweet potato tots, and now even conventional fries. They taste, well, like those fries you make at home from a bag you picked up at the frozen section in the supermarket... yeah, not great. As for ketchup, same question to the owner: You are so into natural stuff, but your ketchup is that bright-red all-sugar stuff? So, it appears someone at Punch had a great idea for a burger place, but did not think all the fine details through. Nonetheless, for the last 4 years I overlooked the fries problem because the burgers were phenomenal. I was an avid fan of Punch in their original, downtown Indy location, I was there 30 minutes after they opened on their first day in Carmel, and I've probably been to their two branches over 200 times by now. I've also sent many friends there. But, after today, unless the owner of Punch responds to this post in a meaningful way (not the generic "we are very sorry and we take your comments seriously"), I will no longer eat there. It's been about 2-3 months since my last visit - my longest hiatus to date. And what a difference: The burgers were overcooked - I know I can ask for a little pink, but if I don't your people don't have to burn them... The patties were noticeably smaller than before. The bacon was only 2 strips (used to be 3 or 4, and for $1.95 extra 3 isn't too much to ask for). The workers there made 3 (!) mistakes with my order: Wrong type of fries, no bacon in my burger, and no gummy bears for the kids meal. They corrected them all, but did not apologize or offer compensation. They didn't even smile, just kept on their grumpy faces. I understand working in a fast-food place isn't always enjoyable. I did that too back in the day. But, if you can't do your job and serve customers properly, don't work there. Finally, one female worker who was preparing the food had long curly hair that was dangling all over the place. Of course, it's her business how to do her hair, but she should definitely tie it up or cover it somehow when she prepares food for others. No one wants to find hair in their food... So to the owner I say: The workers I encountered today were different than the ones who used to work there before. You need to either train them in the fundamentals of customer service, or get rid of them altogether. Two other tips: 1. If your costs went up, raise prices; don't cut corners. You charge for a double patty burger $8.5, and that was the price 4 years ago. I'd rather pay 9 or 9.5 and not get a visibly smaller patty and less bacon. And I'd rather pay a little more and have decent employees greet me. Ignore those who cry about the price: This is an upscale burger place, not McDonalds. If you want to eat cheap low-quality burgers, go elsewhere. 2. Get rid of that screen that offers customers to leave a tip. It's ridiculous. You are a self-service place, so there's no reason to make your customers feel uncomfortable about tipping. read more
