I'm a big fan of the Downtown Indy location. I didn't even realize they had a Carmel location. It's hard to offer a full-fledged review because I love Downtown Punch Burger so much. These are the burgers you're looking for. I swear by Downtown Punch Burger, and it's the burger place I always send visiting relatives and out of town friends to. They cook fantastic, straight-ahead burgers but also offer creative and tasty burgers with flair. My favorite is the Bleu burger with a turkey patty. But feel free to get as weird with it as you want. They really bring the idea of "Have It Your Way" to life. The Carmel location isn't quite up to the Downtown Indy level. The burgers were basically the same, but not quite as flavorfully popping. The service, cleanliness, etc., was all perfectly fine taken on its own merits. But compared to Downtown Punch Burger, doesn't quite measure up. I'd definitely say give them a try if you're in Carmel and looking for a good burger. I recently discovered that Punch Burger had opened up shop a block away from my apartment, near some office buildings. What a delightful surprise, as I had wanted to give it a try, but the other location was so far away from me! I ordered for pick up and the lovely worker brought it right out to my car. In fact, the food was made so fast that I hadn't even left my apartment before it was ready! Talk about quick! The burnt cheese burger was delicious, which is no surprise, as the idea of putting burnt cheese, the best substance on earth, on a burger was very appealing. But the star of the show was truly the sweet potato tots! Holy moly were they delicious! Salty, fatty, sweet! And if you add ketchup, tangy as well! I went to Punch Burger for the third time yesterday and after thinking about it, decided to review. My first visit wasn't overwhelming. Had a burger and fries, it was alright. Nothing spectacular to bring me back. A co-worker wanted to go so off we went, me for the second time. We waited probably 10 minutes with zero staff in sight. We yelled hello a few times to no avail. Probably should have left but I called instead and was told they would be up in a few minutes. An employee, who I've seen all 3 visits, finally arrived and unpleasantly took our order. I ordered a grilled cheese, crinkle fries and 2 cups of cheese. She charged me for a grilled cheese, a drink and 2 crinkle fries. She already wasn't pleasant so I just let it go and stored it away in my memory for next time I decide I want a grilled cheese so I go somewhere else. Same co-worker and I went out for lunch yesterday. We were headed somewhere else and suddenly got a hankering for grilled cheese and fries so we detoured. Another unpleasant employee took our order. I paid and then looked at my receipt. Again ordered grilled cheese and crinkled fries and side of cheese. Was again overcharged for a drink. This time I requested the $2 and something refund. She wasn't real pleasant from beginning to end so I can't say that she was put out about the error. The food isn't bad but I'm not sure it's worth feeling like I'm putting them out asking them to do their job plus overcharging me each time I go in. Punch Burger is my favorite lunch spot in Carmel. You can build your own burger, choosing from a large variety of both standard and unique ingredients. House made pickles, Asian slaw, pineapple, ghost pepper cheese, red onions,mushrooms, and many other options. I love that you can sub the veggie burger for one of the meat choices. And it is a very tasty veggie patty, thick and flavorful. And you can choose from a regular bun, pretzel bun, or Texas Toast, which is my favorite. Sweet potato tots are my favorite! Unlike some of the sweet potato fries I have had where you barely taste the sweet potato, these tots are bursting with sweet potato flavor. Waffle fries are very good also, and you can choose from several dipping sauces served on the side. If you are undecided you can order a mixed basket of sweet potato tots and waffle fries. This is a perfect restaurant for vegetarian dining. The vegetable toppings are always fresh and delicious and the veggie burger is one of the best I have found. Let's start off with the positive, the lady who took my order was friendly and welcoming. Alright, my burger was cold, the "burnt" cheese was tough and not chewy. The bread was soggy from the condiments and wet lettuce. The fries were burnt and hard and went right into the trash. I waited 20+ minutes for my food, sitting at a table in the corner. I had no idea how long it should take since it was lunch time. I finally went up to the counter and asked if the wait would continue and she grabbed my food from the warming lamp and handed me a receipt that at the top read DOORDASH order. That's odd, since I came in and ordered in person. She said she couldn't see me sitting since I was at a table in the corner. I asked why my buzzer that I held the entire time never went off and she said because she couldn't see me. Ive heard a little about this place and thought why not try it out. Who doesn't love a good burger? We were kind of close to their closing time, (didn't realize that until we ordered) so we were the only people there. The burgers are very good, shake was delicious, great fries. It's a little more then I thought I would pay, but I don't mind paying for good food. Because it was so close to closing, it didn't seem like they wanted in the place, so I ate really fast. I'm what you might call unrefined, or simple. I really don't get into all the fancy restaurants that try to put a "new spin" on something that should be really simple. I prefer basic, classic American food--and Punch Burger is the altar that I worship at. That said, I've only had their basic cheeseburger, and let's be serious, it's all you need to live a fulfilling life. The meat is cooked to perfection, the bun is fantastic, and the toppings are all fresh. The real reason you should come here is the fries. Quite possibly the greatest thing that I have ever put in my mouth. For a proper experience, you MUST get the cheese sauce for dipping. It's incredibly thick and incredibly cheesy, but once you get your hands on it, life will finally start making sense to you. Another bonus point for having a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine. While the soda doesn't make or break my experience, I do enjoy a good soda with a good burger, and Coke products are so vastly superior to Pepsi that it isn't even funny. My desire to keep from becoming overweight keeps me from being a Punch Burger regular, but don't let my insanity stop you from going. One final reminder--get the cheese sauce with your fries. Overall pretty satisfied with this place. Tried it on a whim Friday when we didn't want to wait for Bru Carmel. Only complaint- service. When we went up to order the cashier was rude and interrupted me twice. Once to talk to another customer and once to yell back to the kitchen. Both could have and should have been avoided. Other than the service which is pretty minimal since you order at the front and then eat on your own afterwards the experience was good. The food was great! Our meal at Punch Burger was all over the map, but it slides by with barely three stars because of their EXCELLENT grilled cheese sandwiches. I really wish I would have ordered the grilled cheese, instead of just sneaking bites from my child's meal. The grilled cheese was crunchy yet soft, buttery and perfectly cheesy. I'm not sure what kind of bread they use for their grilled cheese sandwiches, but it was pillowy. Pillowy, I say! So, the grilled cheese was the apex of the meal. We also ordered the Texan (a cheddar cheese burger with grilled onions and barbecue sauce) and the Burnt Cheese (a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, pickle, onions, ketchup, mayonnaise and American cheese, as well as a ring of burnt cheese on top of the hamburger patty). The Texan could have done with a lot more grilled onions -- there were barely any on there! The Burnt Cheese also wasn't very good -- it literally had a slab of burnt cheese in the burger, which ... is not as appetizing as you might think (if you are one to think that burnt cheese is appetizing). We also got the sweet potato tater tots, which were pretty good! I could actually taste the sweet potato in them -- the flavor of the vegetable wasn't lost during the frying, as can happen with some tots. And the waffle fries were alright -- nothing special, but we finished them all. We finished our meal with a vanilla milkshake, which was A-OK, but nothing special. Their milkshakes are $4, and if you're going to pay $4 for a milkshake, it better be really good. Because $4 is almost $5, and I always think about that scene in Pulp Fiction where Vincent Vega asks Mia Wallace what a $5 milkshake tastes like. Then, when he takes a sip, he says, "Goddamn, that's a pretty fucking good milkshake." I kind of feel like if you're going to pay almost $5 for a milkshake, your response should be along those lines, instead of just, "Yep, that's a milkshake alright." read more

I love Punch Burger! I needed a quick bit to eat on my way to an appointment in Carmel. I ordered and had my hot grilled cheese sandwiches within 10 minutes. The lines moved quickly and the cooks were so quick putting the food baskets together. They did an excellent job. I noticed someone near me received something incorrectly and they were very quick to apologize and make it right. I always like seeing that in restaurants. They have a nice wide selection of burgers & sandwiches, a couple sides and some good beers. Not a big selection for my vegetarian friend (but this IS a burger joint haha). Punch Burger is my new favorite burger spot! I've always heard great things, but experiencing it completely blew me away. Its simplicity really took me in--you simply order at the counter, they make your food and give your beer, then you pick a table and they deliver it to you when it's done. Easy! I love this method of food service; it's low pressure and everyone's happy. Plus they have outdoor seating! On top of their amazing burgers and sides, they serve BEER! Burgers and beer, my favorite combination of things to put in my mouth. My girlfriend and I went here for Burger Week ($5 burgers) and we got the incredible Chorizo Burger! Holy moly. A delicious burger made of a chorizo patty, pico de gallo, guacamole, jalapeno ranch, and cilantro. Such a good flavor; a tiny bit messy, but the flavor easily makes up for it. My side, an order of giant waffle fries and nacho cheese. Not to mention they have all the condiments you could want! First time tasting Punch Burger and loved every bite! Burger was fresh and hot off the grill. Waffle fries were crispy and well seasoned. There was a nice guy that greeted us after a couple of minutes (light red hair w/backwards cap that read "Original") and I told him it was our first time. He took our order and all was fine. I would have given this place 5 stars if it wasn't for having to watch the negative facial expressions, horrible greetings (they weren't even greetings) and poor body language and non-verbal attitude from the woman working (slim, hair pulled back with no hat). She didn't thank people, say hello to people, or smile ONCE! If I would have walked up to the register and not been greeted by her and just glared at waiting for me to give her my order, I would have walked right out. They need name tags so that the customer focused employee could get rewarded. Check your cameras and see how your first impression is giving off horrible firsts. Upon arrival the employee at the register was apparently keying in a very long order. She never made eye contact or acknowledged my presence. Eventually after a few minutes she looked up and asked for my order. This probably should have been my cue to leave but instead I ordered: a bunless Good Morning burger with burnt cheese added, and a side salad with ranch. After about 25 minutes(!!) my burger arrived, on a bun, missing the cream cheese it comes with. I sent the burger back and they recooked the burger to put the cheese on it. The bacon on the burger was half raw half overcooked. Worse still is that the burger was served in a metal grate basket making it impossible to cut the burger with a knife. I asked one employee for something else to eat the burger out of and way told no. I asked a second employee and was given a paper bowl that managed to hold the burger in place while I ate. The dish itself was OK except for the raw parts of the bacon. The burnt cheese option was unique and tasty and is recommended if you visit. However it wasn't particularly memorable or delicious and combined with the service I definitely visit one of the other craft burger shops in the area next time I'm in the mood. read more

The flavors of the burger were good, but it was a little heavy on the peanut and spicy notes. I would have liked more slaw on it to help balance it out. Went for a made to order burger and found staff recooking premade burgers already cooked. When asked staff how they could make a rare burger the cook said "no way possible, it was already cooked" When asked why they serve precooked burgers stored in a quart plastic just warmed up the staff claims " our manager makes us serve these this way" and shook their head. I really enjoyed my Aloha burger. At first the ham was a little salty to me, but then once you eat the pineapple that salty and sweet made an excellent combo. This was our first visit so it was hard to decide what to get and I felt rushed sine we were in a line and I had to decide, but I was super happy with my choice. There were 4 adults and we shared a basket of waffle fries and a basket or the sweet potato tots and it was plenty of fries, possibly too many, but we still ate all of them. I usually dislike waffle fires, but these were really good, but I think the tots were amazing and I would for sure get those when we go back. I got my Aunt a double and she ended up thinking it was way too much and it was pretty greasy too. The rest of us didn't have that issue, so maybe that extra patty was too much. read more

Punch Burger is a great stop for lunch or dinner. I usually get the burnt cheese burger. I love it, and I've never come across anything else like it. The cheese gets just burnt enough to be crispy, but not enough to mask the taste. Absolutely delicious. I also love their waffle fries. Not that you'll have a lot of room left over for the fries after making your way through their giant burgers. This location is fantastic because there is tons of seating, they have a variety of beers at very affordable prices, and the staff is super friendly. Friday night family dinner. This was our first visit. We went to the Carmel location. The chalkboard menu was a bit chaotic but ordering at the counter was smooth. The location was cold, with metal chairs and wood benches. The GoodMorning burger was tasty. I asked for medium rare and was told that it was either "done" or "pink" and I opted for pink. It was tasty. I also selected the Texas Toast for my bread, and although the taste was wonderful, it was a bit greasy as well. The waffle fries were OK. My husband's Blue Burger and daughters Punch burger were hits. The fries appeared under cooked but tasted just fine. Awesome options! Delicious burgers! Burger and egg cooked to order just the way you ask. The toasted bun stands up to whatever you choose to pile on it. Everything was well seasoned. Our party got the sweet potato tots, waffle fries, and regular fries, they were all piping hot and crispy. My only hang up was the wire baskets had little rings to hold your condiment cups, but the cups were too small and would slip out. Other than that. Solid A+, will be back for sure. read more
