I've been coming to Pulse Cafe since they opened and am very glad that this option exists in the area. As a vegan, knowing that I can order anything with certainty is a big bonus. Brunch is a treat, I often get the breakfast burrito as a brown rice bowl and it's delicious! Sometime they forget to being the side of roasted potatoes that comes with the meal so now I always ask when it arrives. The hot sauce varies in heat but is a solid addition to the meal. I've had several different meals there and since along with vegan I look for gluten-free I'm happy to find many options available. Especially finding that they have GF flatbread that I can have when I get the shawarma. Yum! The ambiance is comfortable and at times live music accompanies the experience. This is one of our regular spots and it's a good sign that they often seem busy. Don't worry, there is plenty of seating and accommodates a wide group size. read more

My love and I stopped at Pulse Cafe for a highly anticipated bite as it was enroute to home from a camping weekend in Vermont. We were hungry and had a drive ahead of us, so were hoping for a satiating meal that would power us home. We were pleased to go on a Sunday when Pulse offers brunch. The space is neat. It's a hybrid cafe/market with a comfortable feel to it. They have an outdoor seating area, but it was raining when we went, so though we would have preferred to eat outdoors, we ate inside. The table set-ups inside were kind of strange. There were only two tables for two. The rest were for 6 people and up, so if you're going with a partner and the tables for two are taken, you're sharing a table with other diners which felt a bit crowded. As far as the food went, we weren't disappointed. We shared a plate of garlic knots with cheese and jalapeno, and each got one of two calzones on the menu. I got the Crimini and my dear got the Roasted Eggplant. The knots were great! They were perfectly cooked with the right amount of cheese and a hot bit of jalapeno stuffed in the middle of each, served with a side of marinara. The calzones were huge which didn't stop us from eating them all because they were so delicious. They were split in half so we were each able to try them both. The Texture of the mushrooms in the Crimini was spot on and paired perfectly with the spinach. The sauce in both (we were also each served with side cup of sauce) was a classic marinara. The cheese in the Crimini calzone was an excellent rendition of mozzarella. Though the Crimini was delicious, we both preferred the Roasted Eggplant mainly because the smokiness of the eggplant paired so well with the basil leaves and the convincing version of ricotta inside. For drinks I had the Turmeric Latte, unsweetened, and it was so rich and soothing. My love got the Strawberry, Mango, Banana Smoothie which I tried. It was creamy, refreshing and sweet, but not too sweet. All in all we had a great experience at Pulse Cafe and would definitely return to sample their Weekday Menu. read more

It's 100% vegan, has a market with boxed and frozen vegan items along with the restaurant cafe. They have indoor and outdoor dining. You order at the counter and everything is made fresh to order. There are bakery items which are not listed on the menu and juices and smoothies as well. We went on Mother's Day not the best day to judge a restaurant but this one was running like a well oiled machine. We placed our order to go. I saw they had vegan calzones had to give it a try had the crimini mushroom calzone. Perfectly cooked filled with mushrooms, spinach and wonderful cashew cheese. My husband had the house made black bean burger which comes with a choice of white or sweet roasted potatoes. Absolutely delicious! They offer a choice of three different patties house made black bean, impossible or beyond. I did mention there was a bakery section...the carrot cake was awesome! Not sure how they managed to get that cream cheese like tang in the frosting but they did. We will be back. Great place to stop if you are driving through MA on 91 just 5 minutes off exit 25. We had an amazing experience, the prices were on the higher side but it was well worth it considering how expensive it is to eat plant based. We got garlic knots, pizza, and one of the bowls that had mac and bread, soy drumsticks, collard greens, cabbage, and black eyed pees we put (on the side). Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious! They have a juice bar, smoothies, and other beverages as well. And we also walked by the pastry case but didn't dare to stop because I would have walked away with one of everything! But after brunch, we decided to get dessert, and it took us 30 minutes just to order and get a slice of cake from the display case. Other patrons around us were waiting even longer for their meals. A beautiful space with a full menu of vegan food. I tried the kale salad and buffalo chicken pizza and enjoyed both. It was a little pricey but the portions were big. The service was helpful and efficient. My only complaint was that the drink was a bit small considering the cup was mostly filled with ice. Found this place on Happy Cow and WOW what a special place. Staff is super friendly, the atmosphere is warm and open with so much coziness you'll forget you're not at home. We came in to classical music, an area with big cushy couches you could sit in while you eat, and a more restaurant feeling side with working fireplaces built into the wall. There's also a kitchen lab, a grocery store, the juice factory, a juice bar, and an open kitchen/bakery. You can see everything going on that goes into this place! The food is hands down amazing with so many options you'll want to eat everything in sight. The baked goods were the best looking vegan baked goods I have ever seen. Like something off TV! There's brick oven pizza, fresher than fresh salads, vegan burgers, and the list goes on and on! And don't forget to stop by the animal sanctuary right behind the building after you're done. Went to Pulse after a long-awaited few months of living in Western Mass...somehow I didn't realize they were a vegan cafe trustily located in Hadley. I ordered the chick'n burrito with roasted potatoes instead of chips and my dining partner ordered the Orzo latte (unsweetened) and the Impossible burger, also served with roasted potatoes. We dined in, just after opening on a Friday at 11 AM. The burrito was absolutely excellent, as was the burger, which featured some Thousand Island dressing. The burrito had cashew mozzarella in it and I didn't realize, so I had some stomach issues later because of the cashews (I have a cashew intolerance). I'll definitely return in the future and ask for another kind of cheese. read more

The brunch offered a large array of things, like vegan eggs benedict, home fries, fresh fruit, pancakes, vegan sausage, baked goodies, as well as their flatbreads. Their fresh juices are great. You can get them fresh pressed or bottled to go. When I went there for dinner I was pleasantly surprised at the options. They even went out of their way to make me a gluten-free flatbread pizza which was delicious. They have an impressive grab and go section which includes vegan ice cream and yogurt, frozen meals, and vegan cheeses. They have comfortable booths, large tables for gatherings, and the juice bar has plenty of seating. The whole place is very spacious. The staff has always been gracious and helpful. Quite good! But I have a few suggestions.... The American burger has way too much thousand island sauce. I went through at least 10 napkins just to get that goop off my hands. I could still smell that stink on my hands as I was driving away. I challenge anyone to eat that burger without making a mess! Another suggestion. Make French fries! You're almost there! Early on you gave large pieces of potato but recently moved to home fry style potatoes. We want fries. And we want them now. Might I suggest a garlic Parmesan truffle fry! That sounds good. Let's start with the food. That's easy. It's delicious. Well presented and very tasty. Next up, the staff. They are very kind. Above and beyond but not sugary fake. The atmosphere. Wow. I've been eating vegan for decades and this is the nicest vegan restaurant I've been to on the East Coast and possibly anywhere. They have a demo kitchen, a small grocery section and a number of seating areas for gathering with friends or sitting by yourself. While Hadley may be a bit of a drive from the more populated areas if you eat vegan/plant-based Pulse is worth the drive. If you can, check out the Sunday brunch for extra special dishes. UPDATE 3/18/18: The service time was perfect and once again the food awesome. UPDATE 12/31/17: One downside is the wait time from ordering to eating. This is our 4th or 5th brunch we've had here and once again the wait for our food is too long. (Each time the wait has been too long but at first I figured they were new so it wasn't a big deal.) Today it took 45 minutes for our food to arrive. More frustrating is others who arrived after us had their food long before us and we ordered right off the menu without any substitutes. We are vegan/plant-based so we will likely be back but I bet most who aren't would not come back if they had to wait 45 minutes. I hope the owners/managers take note because I doubt they will survive if non vegans are waiting that long and I want them to not only survive but to thrive. read more

This is our favorite restaurant. The food is beyond compare, everything is delicious, and there is a store in the cafe that offers a variety of vegan products. I am currently eating the vegan tofu benedict for dinner as we made a stop on our way home from shopping, and they serve brunch all day! My boys love the blueberry pancakes and the cashew filled garlic knots, although I think they could use some garlic! The soups are amazing, the calzones are beyond delicious, and the bakery options are always great. I bought a carrot cake or Easter last year, and it tasted more maple than carrot but was delicious. There are some kinks to work out, as they often have trouble getting all the entrees out at the same time so we don't eat together, but we are willing to stick around while they work out the issues as it is the best restaurant we've come across in a long while, especially for those in the family who are vegan. read more

The recipes are very well executed, there are a lot of options (I recommend the kebab) and they are not boring at all. They are really creative and achieve very good dishes. I'm in awe of the little market that carries vegan items like Fomu that I haven't seen sold outside of eastern mass (not even Whole Foods has that selection) and I've ventured in while they were doing samples of some of their stock (like amazing nut cheese). So excited to have a dedicated vegan spot. It's absolutely gorgeous inside and spacious. It's run by Seventh Day Adventists who have a long history of vegetarianism (over 100 years). It looks like they are filling a need in western mass. Interesting food and, for the most part, friendly service. My favorite part of the space is the built in two way fireplaces. The food is amazing and the drinks good too! They actually have a coconut turmeric latte! I've had the cheese steak and my friend had the nachos. Both good.
