Everything here is delicious. So delicious. The food is all vegan and fresh, the place is clean, and the staff are warm and welcoming. I favor any dish that has their grilled tofu in it (superseed salad, grilled tofu sandwich), but I have tried almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. My brother and I have eaten here several times and it is a good place. The food is good and atmosphere is pleasant with plenty of seating. They take your order quickly at the register and serve it quickly. We had no problem staying there after eating sandwiches & having coffee. Prices were about the same as other places and the menu is vegan with good variety. read more

Charming cafe! Everything tasted great: got a maple cappuccino and an everything-seasoning avocado toast. If I could make a suggestion, the avocado would be easier to eat mashed since it would stick to the bread better and help hold the toppings on while you're taking a bite (the carrot kind of falls off everywhere.) I am delighted that Evolution found a worthy successor. After eating at WCC a few times, I find their quality to be terrific and their staff is always super fun and cheerful. Although the menu is slightly small, this approach means their ingredients are always peak fresh. They do supplement their standard menu with robust daily specials, so hats nice. What a fabulous spot! I've seen the "CAFE" sign from the main drag in Florence - but never stopped in...until today. SOOOO glad I did. The space is lovely - simple, inviting....really good vibe. I had the avocado sandwich - fresh, flavorful, wonderful nutty/sweet bread, and a very large portion (served with a tasty, crunchy dill pickle on the side). I got a good look at the salads - huge and colorful. I was really tempted by the various smoothies and several varieties of (oversized) cupcakes in the case. The maple & peanut butter cookie had my name on it - but I was so full after the sandwich...next time I'll pace myself. And there will be a next time. read more

Wild Chestnut is my favorite place. Everything is vegan! I come here almost daily, so I'm very familiar with the menu! Literally everything is good, if not amazing. A few of my favorites: 1) muffins: RASPBERRY CHOCOLATE CHIP. Raspberries are my favorite food and I usually feel like adding them to baked goods just ruins a good raspberry. Not so with these muffins. They are worthy of the raspberries. 2) cookies: galaxy cookies, are you kidding me. Brownies in cookie form. But all of the cookies are good- peanut butter maple (gluten free!), chocolate chip (bring home, warm in microwave, top with ice cream), molasses, snickerdoodle. 3) cupcakes: maple chai, chocolate with mint frosting 4) other bakery items: peanut butter bombs are my 6 year old's favorites. They occasionally do donuts and danishes and have cinnamon buns on Saturdays. They're all delicious. 5) soup: the soup is always worth ordering and comes with a piece of homemade bread, as all soup should. Speaking of bread, they make their own bread and it is so good. Good on sandwiches, good toasted with butter, even good just as is. 6) sandwiches: I lived on the deli sandwich during the first trimester of my last pregnancy. It was literally the only thing that tasted good. The chickpea salad sandwich is also a fav, as is the breakfast sandwich. 7) salads: always beautiful and fresh. The creamy dill salad dressing is the perfect dressing. 7) specials: they do a savory pie for thanksgiving that is the best thanksgiving food I've ever had. Even my meat/potatoes dad loved it. 8) chai: the maple oat chai is my drink. Their chai is unsweetened, so it pairs perfectly with your choice of syrup. I love chai in general and have had all of the chai in town. Most places around here make decent chai, but many chais are gritty at the end and I have to throw out the bottom 1/4 of my drink. Wild Chestnut chai is ALWAYS smooth. 9) other drinks: My 6 year old loves the Luna smoothie. I'm not a coffee drinker, so I can't comment on the coffee. But, I've heard it's organic and local. The owner & everyone who works there are so amazing. They make Wild Chestnut feel welcoming and homey. The food is great, but the friendly atmosphere makes it worth coming daily. read more

Great place! Come on the weekend and you can get a warm cinnamon roll. They are 10 out of 10. The muffins, cupcakes, and smoothies are also memorable, special, and delicious! Haven't tried the lunch options yet, but they also look healthy and delicious. The vibes of this place are warm, cozy, casual, and inviting. Love the plants and the great morning light. what's not to love about wild chestnut??? everything is perfect. the tofu sandwich is scrumptious. also the vegan cinnamon rolls are out of this world (offered on weekends)! best vegan food in the CT river valley! service is wonderful and home-y. Rosalie, the owner, is so kind and cheery. they have a live pianist sometimes and offer cool after hours events like yoga, round table discussions, etc. the inside is full of plants, green, and local vegan art. truly a gem. read more
