In the middle of the week, this location is pretty quiet, and because it was after second dinner, maybe the staff was engaged in shutting the place down for the night, but the servers were engaged and I appreciate that. Walking in, you immediately notice that this is a place where locals gather. The patrons range in age and race. Great diversity. The music, although just a touch too loud, wasn't particularly to my taste, but was by no means overbearing or annoying. They have daily drink specials. There are plenty of high tables and seats around the bar. While I was there, there was a beer pong table set up and a group of fun loving kids playing. Within minutes of sitting, the server was right on us ready to get our drink order. Service was really friendly and attentive. The bartender even followed up to make sure my buddy's drink was to his liking. I didn't have a chance to try any food, but plan on heading back at some point for a longer visit and to try the food. The jerk wings were some of my favorite. They were spicy, moist on the inside with just the right crispy texture on the outside. I would legit come here just to order jerk wings. The pork paired really nicely with the extra sauce they give you on the side and their rice was cooked just right. Rice can be hit or miss at some places, especially when it is not cooked from scratch which this one totally was. The cabbage balanced the heat of all these dishes, very nicely. As far as the escabeche, I did sample that dish off of my husband's plate, but I have to admit it's not something I would come for even though I understand it to be an authentic Jamaican dish. Now looking as some of their previous pictures, I guess it depends of the location, the menu may be different. So let me talk about what I had. I had the spanish rice, with pull pork and beef empanada. They also included a slice of avocado in my plate. It was $8.00 for my plate and the serving was generous. Flavor, well, lets say I though my mama made this food, and I love my mama's cooking because she can cook. Rice flavor was not overbearing, it was just wright, the pull pork was also very flavorful and moist. The beef empanada was not greasy and the empanada was full of meat, unlike other places where the empanadas are full of air, hardly any meat. The meat had great flavor. They had special sauces you could add, but the flavors were such that I didn't have to add anything to it.
