Thank you Michelle/Miss Miki fellow Yelp Elite for putting the shout out for Pukalani Superette! Love the Four Sisters pastries, local cookies and toffee on sale, cool souvenirs, and that hot deli section! Some of the delicious food experienced by me and The Homie in our rental car at the parking lot. So good, we detoured additional times on the way to Haleakalā and Kula/Upcountry. Shopped with local residents, county workers, construction crews, and even firefighters. Stopped in on 8/27/25, 8/28/25, 8/30/25, and 9/1/25...only wished I knew about the senior discount earlier!

Great local superette I have been following their Instagram page and knew that I wanted to stop in the next time I visited Maui and was close to up country. They have great ready made food items and lots of fruit and snacks and to purchase. Lots of Maui Nui products available; I was excited to see Stacey's Garden tapioca jars on sale so I purchased one for the road.

I love this little market! We always stop here when visiting Maui. They sell everything from t-shirts to fresh flowers, produce, prepared foods, snacks, groceries, etc.

This place brings back childhood memories of staying at our Uncle and Aunty's during the summers and spring breaks. Every time we visit Upcountry, Maui we gotta stop by and buy some local grinds whether it's hot bentos, cold sushi rolls, packaged snacks, poi, pickled veggies, pies made from farms on the island, etc. Staff's always nice.

My gosh! I don't know where to begin to say. That I took a chance and ordered their premade Thanksgiving meal. And boy did they deliver . It was well packed and the turkey came already shredded. Not to mention it was so tender and oh!! So yummy! I'm thinking I will order every year! Thank you! Pukalani Superette for doing the cooking for me so I can enjoy my family .

A market with anything you might need! My personal favorite was the cucumber Kim chee and spicy ahi poke. Poke was fresh and the cucumber Kim chee wasn't too spicy and had some sweetness to it. The food prepared food is made by the kitchen and is delicious! Staff was friendly and helpful. The store was well organized and easy to find what you needed! Will come back next time I'm in pukalani!

I absolutely adore luncheon Bento boxes, especially when it's Turkey/gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and a little side of corn! Pick up some sides like Macaroni salad, cucumber salad and you are ready for a picnic. They also sell local produce that are very reasonably priced.

Pukalani Superette's (sweet) Chili fried chicken and fried rice! A local favorite and yum!

Really great food to go! Bentos, fried chicken, sushi, namasu, pies...! At the urging of my wife, and since we were Upcountry, we stopped by there even after having our breakfast (at Kula Lodge), then breakfast #2 (at Komoda Store & Bakery), then some wine & food (at Mauiwine)! Really glad I did! Chili fried chicken is a recommendation by the locals - and it does not disappoint. Almost like the Zippy's Korean Chicken - fried really crispy with a lot of sweet chili sauce. A perfect item for bento, or going to the beach, or eating outside at the park. Had the fried rice and that was really tasty too - lots of eggs and bacon. Maybe this combo isn't the most heart friendly - but heck, once in a while is okay I think! Got sushis, namasu, many other types of bentos and takeout - a lot to choose from! I didn't try the baked pies & things - will definitely save that for the next time I'm there!

Rodeo General Store - Warm foods and a deli inside

Rodeo's is the place to go for non-bakery treats in Makawao. Love this store, so many fun things to…read morefind and the staff is great. Local products including meat, eggs, fruit & veg are available, and rather reasonably priced. If you're not a Costco addict, you'll find the prices are equivalent to local grocery stores. We got farm eggs and local steak for less than what would be paid at Safeway or Foodland. Like many local stores, Rodeo offers warm ready to eat foods like spam musubi, breakfast wraps, and plate-lunch style meals at the deli counter. They also offer local and imported ingredients, including for some reason many products from Mexico. I picked up a dark Oaxaca mole here that was incredible. They have bottled Coke from Mexico as well. There's also a large selection of cold drinks, inexpensive and otherwise. A can of flavoured water costs $1, good deal and refreshing. Kombucha is available in bottles and on tap. Add to that a huge alcohol and tobacco selection, and an impressive cigar humidor! There's something for everyone here, and you gotta love the local general store ambiance. It's deceptive from the exterior how large the store is, and one would never expect the variety of products inside. Don't forget to ask the cashier for the answer to the sandwich-board joke of the day, or say hello to the shop kitty!

I couldn't even taste any chorizo. I ended up throwing most of it away. I would never, ever buy this burrito again. I totally forgot to take a pic. Beverages, produce, sweet treats, and/or a hot cup of coffee this local store always has just what we need. I also like to pick up post cards, souvenirs, and tote bags! Morihara's has been open and ready to assist us especially with the pandemic and I think if you haven't shopped local in the past; now is the time to consider this gem of a store.

A little mini supermarket store that has mostly everything, even variety of hot foods. The alcohol section really caught my eyes. Great selection btw. hehe. Mr. Cashier ( local guy) was full of Aloha, very friendly. I enjoyed looking around the store, after browsing I paid for my alcohol and thank you! Check out the store when you here at Kula esp. if you need alcohol while dining at Kula. Oh, one of my old boss' last name was Morihara, wonder if any relation heeh.
