Haiku, HI. This is a very cool store, located in a somewhat remote area. I think they have probably everything you may need here, with great a selection of produce and other essentials. The pricing was fair for Maui, they were not into "Gouge the Tourist" mode. They also sell gas if you need a refuel. read more

Nice country store with a good selection of all kinds of food and household items. They have a deli and daily plate lunch specials. The fish poke bowl is great... bowl with hot rice and fish poke on top. Friendly owners and staff. Lots of parking. One of the only gas stations in Haiku. A good place to meet people and connect. Would be great if they had some outdoor seating to enjoy a meal, but I think that will be coming soon. All in all a good community store where there's nothing else to choose from. read more

I absolutely love this store, it's so Hawaii-nei, the owner Mike is terrific, as is Paul. Great food done by Rachel, then there is Jayne, Amanda and the gang. It's simply so comfortable. It's kinda expensive....but then its upcountry Maui, so it's cheaper to eat money than to live here, but so worth it. Anyway, I highly recommend a visit, it's just fun times. Much love to Hanzie's. This store has a nice variety of products when you need something but don't wish to go all the way into town. The staff are so nice and friendly. The prices are a bit higher, and I would expect a mark up due to supply and demand, but some mark ups are just too much and makes me wait until I can get at a cheaper price. This is the BEST local neighborhood store in Ha'iku, Maui! It's an old-style general store that is right out of a history book! There are only two gas stations in Ha'iku and this is one of them. The selection they have is AMAZING! The wine, beer, and Prosecco selection is surprisingly good! Foodland doesn't even have some of the stuff they've got! If you are there in the morning, I would suggest one of the three blends of Hawaiian coffee they offer along with the breakfast sandwiches. You'll meet any number of friendly locals there while you gas up your car. They have an ice machine as well as air for your tires if needed. Be SURE to pick yourself up a custom "Hanzawa" Trucker hat or t-shirt or hoodie! They are perfect for the beach or just regular island wear. I'm a freelance Producer and we shot a few scenes there for a new show called MOKU MOKU. We love the store so much, we created a character (A local Maui singer with a great voice and attitude to match) that works there. This business is set up to fail. It is in no way for the community. The prices are INSANE! Hanzawa's sells Target's Good & Gather brand and Costco Brands they get down the hill at a markup of 200% to 300% per product. BOYCOTT this place if you're a local. They're gauging us all if we choose to shop there. Target pasta sauce that retails for $1.89 going for $5.99 a jar! Target brand canola oil that retails for $2.89 they sell for $7.49! I could go on and on... These insane markup are passed down to us locals because they sent an employee down to Kahului to "conveniently" fetch it for us. BAD BUSINESS. Bottom Line. Don't shop here. I would understand a "slight" mark up but this is outrageous. I can't imagine anyone who reads this agreeing with this ridiculousness. We work hard and deserve better as consumers. This area and island are expensive enough! read more

We asked 3 different locals where to get the best fresh fish and got a unanimous response: Hazawa's!! We picked up some gorgeous Ahi tuna and Mahi Mahi steaks, as well as 1lb of the best Poke I've ever tasted. They also have lots of local limes which I took home to make daquiries with. read more

This is a little hole in the wall, grocery store/gas station/deli/beer stop has it all. You would not know it, but this is one of the oldest establishments on Maui, it has a rich history serving the people of Haiku and 5 corners amongst other little places. This staff is super friendly and they do make a great sandwich, the beer selection is not bad and you are close to home, if you need to switch up your drive a little. Loved this little store in the middle of nowhere. Stopped in on our shortcut from Hosmer Grove to Kipahulu. Hot dogs for lunch were solid. Bought Maui Cattle Company steaks, Kula onions, big island tomatoes, and a good quality pre-made polenta to grill for dinner that night; couldn't tell if we were at a campground or one of Maui's trendy restaurants. The selection of dry goods, vegetables, etc., was pretty impressive for such a little place. Good looking ahi and mahimahi. The steaks were dirt cheap, and everything else seemed fairly priced for a little store in the middle of nowhere; it wasn't until we got to west Maui later in the week and saw that everything in the big supermarkets there was twice the price that we realized just how good the prices were (especially on the steaks, milk, and vegetables, plus that fish we passed on), and wished we'd stocked up. they are the friendliest people you will ever come across. they were all so helpful and patient. especially with me because I am so undecisive. I ended up getting the bacon broccoli salad and bbq chicken plate. the bacon broccoli salad was good.i was craving broccoli so perfect timing coming here The bbq chicken was so good. the bbq sauce..was good. I don't like bbq sauce. kinda almost reminded me of another place. my fiance got the kalua pig and also got some poke. those were good as well. the poke tho, was very good and huge chunks. read more

Best local spot in Haiku! Friendly staff, great selection of beer and wine, yummy plate lunch and fresh fish.

The location is key for me, as it is on my way home, perfect spot to pick up some drinks after work. Gas station is pretty on par with prices in the city, so I never feel bad giving this mom and pop my hard earned cash over the numerous chains. Where things get a little hairy is the price of certain groceries. I wish everything was along the lines of Foodland, Times or Safeway, but so far I have seen that it is noticeably higher. I'll keep coming here and hoping to find better deals, so I can give Hanzawa's more of my business. read more

Hanzawa's is a fabulous general store. I was able to conveniently walk up the road to this wonderful place every day. I love the employees and there is a lot of love in their food. I miss this Hanzawa's so much, QuikTrip is not getting it quite the same for me. Maui No Ka Oi :) read more

The only reason and product I purchased was gas, since it was on the way from Haleakala to Hana Highway. The gas was cheaper by about two cents than most of the gas stations I saw towards Kahului and towards Kapalua via Kaanapali. The female attendant who served me was very polite, friendly, and helpful to a foreigner such as myself. She seemed fairly new there, since a second female attendant had to occasionally guide her. The second female attendant, however, had 'I hate my job' face. My biggest criticism of gas stations in North America, in general, is that most require you to pay before filling up. That's fine if your vehicle has a gauge that tells you EXACTLY how many gallons to full. But not many cars have that function and not EVERYONE wants to fill it to a full tank. To top it off, as a foreigner who rents cars, our rentals don't always need to be refilled to full! read more

Pretty cool little shop. The in-house stuff we had is good (poke and a turkey salad wrap), there is a ill deli counter in the back. There was a little produce section as well, fairly priced considering its a small general store. For the record this is where I bought my first Apple banana, mind blown! The people definitely know each other, the cashier had a pretty long interaction with the person in front of me in line. I was a little annoyed, but that had more to do with me being new to small town Hawaii. Their gas prices aren't bad either. read more

A small little store that has allot to offer. So far they have carried everything that I went there for. They may not always carry the brand that you desire, but there is a very good chance that they have what you want. And allot of times, the prices are better than those at the grocery stores. read more

Hanzawas is a great place for most things you need if you live in the Haiku area, and I love having it here. The people who work there all seem to be very nice, they are friendly and helpful and funny good people which makes going there a pleasure. The hot food is great. They have a different special plate lunch every day and all are quite tasty, the kalua pork especially in my opinion. They also have a great selection of salads and sandwhiches too. And in the morning their breakfast sandwhiches are great when you are hungry and dont want to travel too far to buy breakfast. Its also incredibly convienient to have gas pumps in this location as the next nearest ones are at least 20 minutes away. All in all Hanzawas makes it easier to live in Haiku and get what you need quickly. The only gripe I have is that they close at 7 on sundays rather then the regular 8. This puzzles me, I know places close earlier in the day usually so people can get out and enjoy their sunday but whats the difference really in closing at 7 rather then 8? All it does is inconvienience the costomer, but aside from that Hanzawas is number one fun happy time place! read more
