I craved 3 things on Saturday and the Molcajete and a Mangonada were two that this resty does exceptionally well. Buried in a queso fundido is a pork chop, steak and chicken cut and shrimp accompanied with a side plate of rice and beans plate (not shown) and choice of tortillas. It's Heaven. Not my first time here but this place is ready to serve, we came at opening and they pulled off the hardest plate with ease, service is quick, flexible and attentive. The Mangonada, large please, is peak goodness. We sat inside for the great AC and vibrant art. You'll take food home, perhaps the pork chop and 1/2 that huge jalapeño. 100 stars! We got the molcajete that came with chicken shrimp pork and sweet ham with rice beans creams and guacamole. It was to die for. This place is so legit, and not to mention peaceful. The service was fast. Hostess let us pick where to sit and immediately got asked our drink choices and got chips and salsa, and a really big size of chips! We ordered and food came out in about 6 minutes. Very impressed! Prices were par and the food was great. I got the huevos con chorizo and he got the fajita lunch. Flavor was so good! I was so excited to try this place since I had heard great reviews on both the Foodies of Chico Facebook page and on Yelp-- but what the heck?? I don't know if I had high hopes because of what I heard but damn, it was not impressive at all. My boyfriend and I shared the chicken nachos and shrimp fajita plate. The nachos were basic AF and there was some type of gross cream on it that just sat and made the bottom watery (we got the sour cream on the side so no, it was not melted sour cream). The chicken tasted like tuna to me, and there was not one tasty thing about it. We had MAYBE 3 nachos each and were over it. The shrimp fajitas were a tad bit better, but really just the actual fajita skillet that had the grilled onions, peppers, and the shrimp. I think, to be honest, the best part of the meal was the salsa that they give you with the chips. Their beans and rice were dry and meh. I'm super sad because I loveeeeee Mexican food and was super stoked to try this place, but I probably won't ever go back. read more

The waiter mistakingly placed a pitcher of blackberry margarita on my table, and following a regretful bout with my ex wife Kelly I couldn't help myself but to drink the entire pitcher. Lunch menu, Chili Relleno and Crunchy Taco an uneventful fast lunch serving. Beans salty, the tiny presence of guacamole near frozen, Rice a little better. Dull and uninspiring offering. 3 Stars. House Carnitas, boasting of being home made, long ways for upper placement. Chewy, while also managing to be dried, back to Carnitas 101. At best 3 Stars. Soda bottle ($3.50) water drinkable. Place looked colorful, service adequate. Someone extremely kind and nice suggested this place, a little hard to tell her how mediocre everything was. Total with gratuity way past $60. By reading the reviews of this place, expectations were met by reality, and let's just say it did not pan out. So this place merits 4.3 Stars on average? I respectfully disagree. 3 Stars. read more

Absolutely loved this restaurant. They have plenty of outdoor seating and a small indoor area that was comfortable. Service was very good, servers were efficient & friendly. I had a chicken tostada & a cheese enchilada along with a small guacamole. Veggies on my tostada were fresh and the chicken was tasty. I'm very picky about the cheese & sauce on my enchiladas and can say theirs did not disappoint. My friend ordered quesadillas and said they were delicious. There was a nice little salad along side the quesadilla that had a good scoop of guacamole. Definitely going back when I'm in the area. read more

Nice free thin, crisp, fresh tasting chips brought right away to our table and came with salsa that was good (although for my taste buds could have used a little bit less salt). Cheese Chili Relleno was really awesome. Actually one of the best Chili Rellenos I've ever enjoyed in my 72 years on this planet and I'll definitely will be coming back for many more of them assuming they're consist. Delicious: $3.75 Chicken Tostada was flavorless however as I see it to make up for that (I suppose I ought to have put some of their salsa on it) it had a major amount of shredded chicken on it. $3.00 I'll come back for that as well. Side order of Rice was ok, a bit dry or maybe slightly tired/old $2.50 That could just be a one time thing. Time will tell and so come check the rice out for yourself or wait for my review after I come back. :-) :-) Side order of Beans was good $2.50 If you order both a side order of rice and beans = $3.50 They have a decent selection of bottled beers including my Mexican favorite Negra Modelo at $3.75 which includes a lime and in a refrigerated heavy mug if you like. read more

Pueblito Mexican Grill has some of the best & truly authentic mexican food in the Durham /Chico area! The decor inside is a work of art with amazing paintings on the tables and wood-carved chairs. Super bright and colorful !! I've never seen such unique furniture, especially in a restaurant. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. We ordered the Chile Colorado dinner, the Chicken Taco Salad and the 2 Chile Rellano dinner. Yummy! The service was friendly and the food arrived quick. They have take-out as well. We drove from out of town just to try this place and it was pretty darn good. The chips were nice and fresh the beer was nice and cold. I got the carnitas which were a bit greasy but still really good, my daughter got the bean and cheese burrito and it was so cheese and good. The boyfriend ordered the fajitas and the meat was pretty tender and came with a separate plate of rice and beans. The service was on point, checked in when needed and let us enjoy our meal the rest of the time. Well worth the drive, just wish we lived closer. read more

I wanted so badly to love this place. I heard a lot about this place, even from a friend. The servers were wonderful and friendly. The place was cute and clean. But the food was not worth the price we paid. The Quesadilla was soggy with wet chicken so my son wouldn't eat his 10. quesadilla. I ordered the Chile rellano nothing about it was good, the pepper wasn't cooked, there was no egg white on the outside, it was a almost raw pepper, stuffed with cheese and cheese sprinkled on top, and it was sitting in oil, not the typical flavorful tomato based sauce. I was shocked to say the least. And my husband's burrito was nearly $14 and it was bland and not great. We also ordered crispy chicken taco it was a pre made shell with wet chicken and cheese that's it and it was no longer crispy. And I feel awful for 2 star review, but trying to be objective. read more

Have driven by this place many times always saying I need to eat here one day. Well that day came yesterday. The place is kinda small inside, but there is plenty of parking in the back. The inside was decorated with really nice colorful artwork. Food was really delicious. I had the carnitas Dinner plate that came with rice and beans. The carnitas were on point. Crispy on the outside, tender inside, and good flavor. Definitely recommend. My wife ordered the one taco, one enchilada combination plate. She had me trybthe enchilada sauce which actually was super good. Very flavorful. Overall both orders were really good. Definitely come back again. I have to give a 4 star for now because it was the first time and if the food is delicious the second time, will definitely guve a 5 star. Great place. read more

This is by far the best restaurant with consistently great food in the North state. I have tried almost all of the Mexican restaurants and NONE come close to Pueblito's. I only wish they would open a restaurant in Chico but I have gotten used to the pleasant drive to Durham. My mouth waters all the way. Service is also great. read more

The best Mexican food in Butte County--maybe in all of California. The owners are clearly more than involved, they are part of the staff. Service is excellent and food is absolutely incredible. I've lived in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles before settling in Chico. Never, ever had Mexican food like this. Even in sleepy Durham, this place is packed seven days a week. On one occasion, we arrived 30 minutes before closing and there was a wait and the pace was packed. Can't say enough about Pueblito. This is a real find and worth the extra trip to Durham. Anything negative anyone says is clearly coming from a person that should stick to Taco Bell. read more
