I thought it could use a bit more flavor though, like more of that rich umami flavor. It just seemed somewhat flat flavor to me. It definitely has a spicy kick, which we were fine with but I could imagine it being too spicy for some. Just nothing to write home about. Whole beans (as opposed to refried - I personally prefer refried while my spouse prefers whole). Spouse said chicken burrito was probably more 4 stars in flavor but said it could be bigger and also isn't a fan of cash only. The cost for the two burritos and a small bottle of coke was $17.25, which seems about average. I believe it was $7.50 per burrito. Verdict: If I go back, it's purely going to be out of convenience of location from my house, but then again, it probably won't be convenient because I don't usually have cash.

Visited September 5 2026. See my receipt as always…read more I haven't been here in years. It is in Oroville. The reason we stopped coming is because they used to have a really rude waitress ( Spanish lady ). It was so refreshing to see upbeat employees! MELEE waited on me and she was AWESOME! I remembered her from another restaurant that closed a few years ago. Still hard working and friendly! I ordered the steak and shrimp fajitas. It came with tortillas and rice and beans with sour cream. The steak had a really nice sear on it! The shrimp was grilled perfectly! Plenty of peppers and onions as well! DELICIOUS! They also have a full bar with additional seating at the bar. Although no outdoor seating the restaurant is very spacious! I had a great experience and I will definitely be back soon!! I also bought a children's beef enchilada from the childs menu with rice and beans to go! Ps. Free complimentary chips and salsa and bean dip

A friend and I were headed to an MMA event just north of Oroville and needed a quick bite to eat,…read moreso pulled off and hit Yelp to find something good in the area. Vallarta Grill looked like a good option so we headed over. This was a Saturday evening (about 6pm)... they were busy, but had no trouble seating us within a couple minutes (the host had to duck out to clean the booth for us). The menu is very complete - lots of options! It was honestly tough to make a choice. I chose the Lamb Shank, which included an enchilada. I was given the choice of ground beef, shredded beef or chicken for the enchilada. I asked if I could somehow upgrade to a shrimp enchilada and was politely declined. My date chose the chile verde. I also ordered coconut shrimp as an appetizer. First up was the coconut shrimp - first impression: I was surprised at how "flat" they were! Obviously it was intentional, but flatter than anything I've seen or had before. I jokingly called them "road kill shrimp" and my date slapped me. They were good, though, and I understood and appreciated the reason(s) for flattening them - more surface area for the breading, even cooking and easy to scoop up the yummy sauce. Next up were the main dishes - the Lamb Shank was good... imo, I would have liked the sauce to be a little thicker, but the flavor was good. I really liked the enchilada too. I didn't have a ton of the rice and beans just because I normally don't eat much of that - but it was good, better than I've had elsewhere! I had a bite of my friend's chile verde too and give it a thumbs up. I love flan. I was full enough that I didn't need to order flan, but I couldn't leave without giving the flan a try. I'm glad I did! The flan was very good, some of the best I've had in a while. Overall, great meal and I wouldn't hesitate to drop by again if I was in the area.

The reason I didn't notice it was a small restaurant is because there is no signage other than by their takeout window! I am glad I stopped in with boyfriend and puppy in tow. Although the service was super slow it was worth it. We shared the carne asada burrito that had plenty of meat and rice and beans in it. The flavors were really good and no chewey or fatty meat inside. They do have inside seating but not pet friendly ( no outside seating). We took it to go and got back on the road. I joined some friends for lunch and after deep diving the menu, I ordered the Al Pastor Super Burrito and added a fresh jalapeño. It was the game changer that turned a great burrito into the perfect meal, because I LOVE spicy. Everything stood out on this meal: The Balance: It's rare to find a burrito where the meat, veggies, rice, and sauce are in such perfect proportion. Every bite was consistent. The Al Pastor: The seasoning on the pork was spot on, and the added heat from the jalapeño provided that perfect kick to cut through the richness. This was not marinated in store bought adobo. The Tortilla: Often overlooked, but the consistency here was perfect, strong enough to hold everything together without being gummy or overly thick. The interior has that classic, rustic wood-paneled vibe that makes you feel like you're in a true community staple. Whether you're grabbing a quick lunch at the counter or sitting in one of the booths, the atmosphere is exactly what you want from a neighborhood spot. The owner was there crafting the perfection. He is happy to adjust to your taste. This is high-quality, honest food. I'll definitely be back to work my way through the rest of the menu. A Marc Tip: Definitely add that jalapeño to your burrito it adds a fresh heat that elevates the whole experience.
