Afternoon delights - in what feels like Wonderland.
    Blue A.

You don't have to take hallucinogens to feel like you are Alice in Wonderland. This whimsical coffee shop was a really great rest spot while in Barcelona - to get some coffee/sweets, charge our phones, and well...feel like we were in a storybook! First the magical creations: Cheesecake with a strawberry jam on top. Very generous sized slice. It was delicious. Affogato was on point! For those that have never had it, affogato is espresso poured over ice cream. I know right? I just discovered this fairly recently and I'm kicking myself for not having it in my life sooner! This was one of the best I've had! Great service! The gentleman that took care of us was super nice, quick and checked in on us from time to time. Cashing out was super easy and fast. Now, to what this places looks like. It obviously looks like Alice in Wonderland came to life with giant mushrooms, unique art on the wall and mismatching plates. The roof is covered with red and white drapes, that sag down. At first look you might think it's like a circus tent, but nope - it's actually positioned to make you feel like you are inside a mushroom! There's a downstairs area, and there are two massive (two story) mushrooms located there - you can see their caps from the second (main) floor. The art on the wall includes portraits of dogs dressed as commanders (haha) and the plates as I mentioned are all mismatching. Such a cool vibe and feel here - you really think you are meeting up the Maddhatter.

Items Selected: Red Velvet Carrot Cake Brownie Located not far from Casa Milà, one of Gaudi's many outlandish buildings in Barcelona, "The Pudding Bar" is listed as a "place of interest" or "activity" when looked up on GPS, a fact that seems fairly odd at first as the address clearly displays a menu next to the door but one that makes a little more sense on entry. Affectionately known as just "Pudding" by locals, its 5+ years since opening as an "Eat+Play+Think" concept making the two-story space on Carrer Pau Claris very popular amongst stay-at-home mothers and their children thanks to Books, Board Games and comfy seating, guests entering Pudding will immediately be struck by decorations including a billowing big top and Alice in Wonderland-esque Mushrooms, everything appearing quite fantastic up front including a collection of counterside Cakes and Pastries. Not to be confused with Pudding Coffee Shop, a sister business on Avinguda Diagonal without all the quirky decorations but far more books and games, it was with invitations to sit "anywhere you like" that two shabby-chic chairs were taken, both the length and depth of the room thankfully relegating the sound of laughter and occasional squeals of kids to little more than background chatter. Offering Weekend Brunch plus an all-day menu of sweets and savories from 09h00 to 22h00 daily, the service very laid back as one man was tasked with going up-and-down stairs to serve both halves of the room while two women stood talking at the Register, it was nearly ten minutes before a menu was delivered and another dozen before orders were placed, the listed Walnut Pie not currently available and thus leading to a total of three sweets served alongside a bit of disappointment. Amused by the setting with hopes that food would match, the distinctly American Desserts and kitschy design making one wonder if Pudding might be the work of overseas investors, it was not long at this point before plates were delivered with small bottles of water at €1 each, the €5 Carrot and Red Velvet Cakes both moist and richly flavored with thick layers of Cream Cheese Frosting that were not too sweet while the €3 Brownie stood out thanks to its layered effect with crispy bits both top and bottom surrounding a fudgy layer of Dark Chocolate at the center.

The visuals in this restaurant are worth the visit on their own. The food and drink were also very good. We enjoyed a visit on a fairly busy Sunday morning. However, we were seated immediately and our service was pretty good. It's a great place for brunch and the ambiance.

the most amazing HARRY POTTER THEMED CAFE!!! The attention to detail is amazing. Drinks were great too. So many wall decorations and cool features.

One of my best culinary experiences at Barçelona! The pancake was so scrumptious (almost musically so). The staff were super welcoming and uplifting and the music heavenly. The WiFi is excellent and you never get the feeling that you're rushed. Perfect place to come, enjoy fantastic food, think or work for a bit. I loved the vibe of this place, the food and the music. Highly recommend it!

Based on the excellent reviews and how delicious it looks on a plate I thought we had a real winner with the red velvet cake: I was wrong and left thoroughly disappointed and wishing I had spent my six euros on any other treat in Barcelona. How something can look moist, taste sort of wet, and still eat as dry and icky I will never understand. The frosting is great but the cake leaves everything to be desired. As noted by others, the service is also pretty terrible. You have disappointed me Pudding :(

Last time I was in Barcelona about 2 years ago, I found this place by chance. Now that I'm back, this was the first place I wanted to eat. I had the Salmon quiche, feta green salad and a beer. The food was good and the workers were welcoming and nice. Also, I love that the inside of the restaurant looks like the inside of a circus tent!

Red velvet cake and white tea. Love the tea cups!

Pudding is a super cute brunch and dessert restaurant. The interior of Pudding has giant mushrooms stretching through two floors! It's like Alice in Wonderland like many people have mentioned. Their carrot cake is reputed to be one of the best in the city. I'll have to try that next time! I ordered white tea and red velvet cake. While both are delicious, I did not find them exceeding my expectations. That being said, I still love the look and feel of the restaurant and will stop by in the future for their brunch and carrot cake!

Huge slice of carrot cake! Delicious!

This place is absolutely adorable! The interior is reminiscent of Alice and Wonderland. Everything from the chairs, wall art, and lights add to the whimsicality of the place. I ordered a slice of carrot cake and an affogato. The cake was moist and delicious. I couldn't finish it and had to take it home, because it was such a huge slice! It was my first time having an affogato. Why haven't I had an affogato before?! The vanilla ice cream didn't mask the espresso at all. It was so good that I attempted to make it every day for a week after I got home. Obviously, it wasn't nearly as good as Pudding's. This place was such an experience. If you get the chance, you should to come here, and if you have kids, you should definitely take the kids here!

Loved this whimsical restaurant. Felt like we'd jumped right into the Alice in Wonderland book. The pancakes were delicious. Order the chocolate sauce. I didn't and was so jealous of my son once the food arrived. The cakes here looked divine though I had no room left in my stomach to try them.

Very cute and kid friendly resturant. Food was good & Loved the eggs Florentine! My kids loved the hot chocolate too.

You can't miss pudding if you're a fan of brunch and in Barcelona. First off the decor is cute and fun, great for kids and kids at heart! The service is good and the waiters are all very kind. Their carrot cake is amazing and you can't go wrong with any one of their quiches! My recommendation? Go up to the glass case by the cash register and pick out what you want! That way you get to see what looks appetizing.

Great place to have breakfast with our toddler. We had crossaints, cappuccinos, and a delicious leek quiche with a fresh salad. My son had a strawberry smoothie. Everything was fast and fresh. My son enjoyed playing with all their toys while I was able to enjoy my meal!

classic croissant, espresso (cup on R) + cappuccino (cup furthest rear)

When you walk in it has that mixture of smells that you know you're absolutely repulsed by and at the same time thrilled to smell. This market even has plants for sale as well as flowers and a few additional outlying products. When you walk up to a stall, it's not guaranteed that you're going to get a smile or a happy, "How are you?" But it is guaranteed that you will get good service. Selling the product is the name of the game here. I fully believe that if you are ever in barcelona and you come by this market you should absolutely stop in and see what it's all about. It's one of those rare places that you will be extremely glad that you saw and you'll think about later in life even if you don't buy anything, it's worth a look.

Unlike Boqueria, there aren't that many vendors selling cooked foods/tapas/snacks. Instead, it seemed more like a place where locals did their food shopping. We picked up some strawberries, so this is a good spot to pick up some fresh fruit. There's also a supermarket downstairs. They sell flowers and plants out front, and while I definitely didn't need any flowers, it was still nice to just look at them. When I travel, I like spending some times just walking thru a local grocer. I had a cart and probably spent almost an hour here looking at the different types of wines, picos camperos and cheeses. The lady at the counter started talking to me and I said my usual 'hola', I knew this conversation would go beyond that, so I think she started explaining the difference to me between Jamón Serrano and Jamón Ibérico. I didn't want to break the wallet so I took out my phone and used Google Translate to make sure I was getting some reasonable prices Jamón. After the store manager came out trying to figure out what I was asking, I did get what I was looking for twenty minutes later (see photo of that vacuum packed goodness!).
