Comparing the food to our first time back in 2018, I would say the carbs were a tad dry and the ingredients were slightly scaled back. We very much enjoyed our meals nonetheless. Plate presentations were aesthetically pleasing. Very busy cafe, soothing natural decor, attentive waitstaff. Bathroom has a step up to go inside which my mom found difficult to navigate on her own. There are 2 locations of Brunch & Cake and my friends and I started at the one down the street, but were told we could come to this one and have a table immediately (compared to a 30 minute wait). This location is so cute too so I'm glad we embarked on the easy 10 minute walk here! My friends and I (4 people total) split a handful of entrees. The breakfast burrito was good and even says "CAKE" on the top which is so cute! Nothing hugely different with the burrito than other places but it was good. I liked the sausage. The brunch pancake was good too but not noteworthy. I ate the seeds off of it. The avocado toast was good and the bread is more of a brioche which was tasty! The salmon Benedict was my favorite since it's a typical brunch food, but their charcoal sweet corn waffle is different and was SO good. I would honestly eat it plain it without the eggs it was so good. It comes with a salad too which was nice since a lot of other food in BCN is veggie light. The food at Brunch and Cake is good, but their standout characteristic is in their beautiful and colorful plating! They go all out with mixing the colors and fun toppings on everything, and our salmon benny was served on a shovel which was actually so cute. The service was fine - I appreciated that they gave us the option to come to this location and have no wait. The servers didn't seem to particularly want to help us, but no one was rude by any means either. Brunch & Cake in Barcelona is absolutely a must visit spot both for the food and their beautiful aesthetics. It's a super cute brunch spot with amazing decorations and some of the best food presentation I've ever seen! They have two locations. The primary location people usually end up at is a lot smaller and always has a huge wait. However their staff let us know that both locations are run together and that this location was open and is actually much better for large groups! We had a large group and thus wanted to try a bunch of dishes on the menu. We were able to modify all the dishes to be vegetarian which was also a plus. We tried the breakfast burrito, avocado toast, brunch pancakes, cake, eggs, chips, coffees, teas, drinks, etc. All the food was super filling and tasted great. However it was the plating and presentation that stole the show. Brunch & Cake does not shy away from creatively using bright vibrant colors, food types, and combinations. Where I am staying in Barcelona is not to far from this Brunch & Cake Location! For about 3 days straight I found myself at B&C every morning / Afternoon! It really is that good! I love that they have a unique variety selection of different dishes that can please a few different ''preferred taste buds'' If you are into bowls I would highlight recommend trying out their Açaí pineapple bowl and their Mexican Bowl, which is filled with rice and vegetables stirred with a really nice vegan cheese sauce!!!! I was able to walk right in and get a seat at around 14.00 on Easter Monday. Brunch & Cake is known for their elaborate plating presentations, and their super sandwich def delivered! Huuuuuge fan of the guacamole syringe! It was such a fun touch to an otherwise pretty tasty sandwich. Order the supersandwich!! I have no clue how you're practically supposed to hold it like a sandwich but ??? also the chips were p unnecessary because there wasn't enough guacamole to eat them with. My boyfriend surprised me by taking me here for brunch! What an awesome experience. The aesthetic is super lovely. We happened to get a spot where you have a view of the street. We ordered the most popular pancakes and breakfast burrito. The presentation was absolutely stunning and the pictures didn't even do it justice. The quality of the food was also 10/10 cannot wait to come here again. Would recommend that you go early, the restaurant gets suuuuper busy as soon as it hits lunch hour. It was very nice that the restaurant provided free transportation to that location since we just paid for transportation to arrive at the first location. The eggs Benedict with salmon was to die for! The food is really good and I would give 5 stars if it was for the food only. Great arrangement and extraordinary recipes. Just the vibe was not the way I like it. People come here to take Instagram pictures of the food and most people eating there dress up really fancy, like in a five-star hotel. This was a great experience! I went here after it was recommended to me by a friend that lived in Barcelona for a year. We weren't able to go to the location by the water, which I hear is great. We arrived at around 2pm (14:00) on a Wednesday and it was packed. We sat at a small table, and people began to wait for tables. It was a smaller location, not a lot of seating outside. We hadn't ate, and felt like going for breakfast food. I ordered the Shrimp "Benny" and my friend ordered the Japanese Pancakes. She also ordered a vanilla latte, and we were surprised when it was delivered and it was pink! I tried the latte and it was a little sweet, but good if you like your lattes sweet. The shrimp benny arrived and looked different than your expectation of a standard Benedict, but I dug right in and wasn't disappointed. My friend's pancakes also looked very cute when they came out, and she seemed to like them. Overall, I had a great experience. Definitely a cute little restaurant. They had great looking desserts, including cute cupcakes, but we didn't try any this time. Next time I'm in Barcelona, I will definitely be trying the location by the sea. read more

This place was so disappointing and their name is misleading. We expected cupcakes or cakes here but found nothing but donuts. Odd, isn't it? Since we were already in the store, we still decided to give it a shot because the donuts looked delicious from the glass and we just finished lunch so we were craving some dessert. The desserts look better than it tastes. At 2.50 euros a pop, they weren't that great. The donuts were very flat, wasn't doughy, and it was extremely sweet. As a perennial wanna-be hipster, I love hipster places and this one made me happy. The staff are decked out in hats and overall-like attire (hipster enough? Check) and the entire place is decorated to impress. Cupcakes are really good too, and in line with the best places I've tried (Very similar/ same standard as hummingbird in London for those who know it). The cupcake revolution hasn't quite made its way over to Barcelona. I have found a few places that have attempted to capitalize on the tasty treats, but none have quite made their mark. This place is ok, It's small, and there is very limited seating. There's one large dining table that sits 4 comfortably/6 intimately, but it's stuck in a room that's way too small for it. Patrons share the table, but it's just not comfortable when there are other people sitting & talking in such close proximity, not to mention the bumping and squeezing to try and get in and out of a chair. There's also a sort of bar seating arrangement along the wall, which only seats 3 people. However, outside there are public benches that you can enjoy your cupcakes on, so I didn't mind skipping the indoor seating. I had the red velvet cupcake because it looked oh-so-tempting with its generous amount of cream cheese frosting, my friend had the carrot cake with the same frosting, and we both ordered a brownie cupcake. One with frosting and the other without. Upon my first bite I went straight into sugar shock!! I couldn't get over how cloyingly sweet it was. I couldn't even taste the cake itself. The carrot cake was the same. in fact we both switched cakes and realized that we couldn't tell one from the other because of the frosting. Maybe if we had different frosting it would have been easier to tell. Anyhow, after scraping off more than half of the frosting, the cake was actually pretty good. After finishing our 1st cupcakes, we went in on the brownie cupcake. A world of difference! Looking at the modest cupcake with no frills you would have thought it wasn't much to be impressed about. Never judge a cupcake by it's lack of frosting! It was simple, not too sweet, with a crisp outer layer and the inside was just at the point of being underdone. SO GOOD! Again, the one with the frosting was a bit over the top with its sweetness. End of the day, I'd give this place a repeat visit, but I'll just be prepared to do a frostingtervention. read more

I miss this place so much! One of the things I miss most in Barcelona is their red velvet cupcakes with the little marshmallow on top. The size of the cupcake is perfect: not overwhelmingly big and not underwhelmingly small. The decor is fantastic: I wish US businesses had so much effortless style. The staff are great too. I love the giant table where you sit next to strangers! Talk about experiencing new things and being pushed outside of your comfort zone:D What a great social experiment and comment on how our society has become too self obsessed with personal space.
