Great pastry shop on the busiest street, los Ramblas . Very nice staff that spoke many languages . They had a case full of beautiful pastry , all instagram worthy . I had a small spinach quiche and a latte and it was a nice break . The walls are covered with pictures of famous cakes and family getting awards . It was interesting to see. Next time , I'll get the red lips pastry .

I had a cappuccino and a sachertorte which I found to be delicious. Only just opened in 1902. Perfect location to sit and contemplate.

If the beautiful pastries in the window don't lure you in immediately, you might make a mental note to circle back, like I did. Quality and craftsmanship. Taste and presentation. Old world enjoyment of the finer things in life. The Sacher Torte practically hypnotized me from the window. It did not disappoint. Light, luscious layers. Rich chocolate. And the signature sheen of a Sacher Torte. Vienna would be proud. A really nice Latte Machiado goes well with the dessert. Take a break and unwind at this classic European cafe.

Items Tasted: Samples: Double Chocolate Cookie, Chocolate Chip Cookie Raspberry Croissant Caramelized Apple Empanada Paris Brest Chanel de Coco - Coconut Cream, Mango Jam Ovellla - Torrone, White Chocolate, Praline Featuring three locations and a lengthy history as one of Barcelona's premier Pastry Shops it was only a matter of time before Pastisseria Escriba figured its way into travel plans, late Dessert before heading to Girona finding the shop at Carrer de les Floristes de la Rambla not too busy with shelves well-stocked and staff as informative as they were friendly. Originally opened in 1906 and still a family-run enterprise, current owner Antoni Escriba and his team subscribing to the same philosophy as those before them with a focus on classic tastes with elegant designs to commemorate all occasions, it is even before guests poke their head through the doors of Escriba that most will realize this is not the average pastry shop, a current lineup of women's high heels made entirely of Chocolate decorating the windows alongside Wedding Cakes and flowers in step with the season. Offering everything from Cookies and Croissants to Wedding Cakes and elegant individual Pastries, a variety of items available for sample including two styles of tiny Biscuits that were fairly mundane near the register, it was passing over many tempting choices that the decision was made to split three small Desserts and two Viennoiserie, the Caramelized Apple Empanada unexpectedly warm considering the time of day and quite flaky with a good crunch, though overall it would have benefitted from a bit more Fruit inside. Moving next to a Raspberry Croissant, the lamination still very obvious though the texture of the bottom had unfortunately been compromised by sweet red gel with a texture more like Pate de Fruit than actual Jam, it was after a young woman presented to add warm Sauce to both the Tire and the Sheep that the rest of the goods were tasted, a branded half-Coconut filled with Dark Chocolate, Coconut Cream and Mango Jam resembling an Egg's Yolk clever and light while the Paris Brest's Choux was crisp around Hazelnut Cream, though the highlight of the visit was undoubtedly "Ovellla" with its layers of Nougat, White Chocolate, Yellow Cake and caramelized Pecan Frosting.

Macarons!

Macarons in Spain! Stopped by Escriba by chance, as we were walking in the. Direction back to our hotel & couldn't resist the macarons Vanilla - zero vanilla flavor, very hard & chewy. Skip Raspberry - another flavorless selection. Skip Tropical - this was a passion fruit. Too bad it tasted stale. Hard & crunchy. This had potential but only if it's fresh Chocolate - light & just a hint of crisp, creamy chocolate. Orange - fruity & little bit of orange. Pleasant flavor Pistachio - lighter, crazier & lovely nutty flavor. Repeat worthy So for only offering 1 truly repeat-worthy cookie & 2 with potential, would usually say I've experienced better but given the fact it's Spain & they're offering macarons, will give an A-OK overall

Such a cute cafe! They have the cutest pastries and little drinks. The Sacher is delicious! Very soft, spongey cake and the filling is delicious. Not too sweet or too heavy! The hot chocolate was good, a little on the darker side.

Currently sitting on the patio area of one of the most charming bakery/cafés in Passeig. I ordered an Angie for €6 and a cafe latte for 2€ -- a total indulgence -- while I watch the lively block in front of me. It's off a street with tons of cafés and shops so makes for great people watching. There's an opening in part of Escribe where I watch a guy making crema catalana (creme brule), and the smell is absolutely addicting. Great place to take a snack break. They also have free wifi which I'm using to write this review. -1 star for slow service and because they forgot to give me the dessert for about 30 min. I'm not in a rush, but I can see how this may be off putting for others. Still, very lovely place for desserts and espresso.

Croissant con chocolate y cafe con leche

I didn't know about the great reviews or the long standing history of Escriba when I went here. All I knew is that I was hungry and needed a little something to keep me going until lunch. I'm really glad I found this place. It's a small place, so if you want to sit and eat, you might have to wait to get seated. This place is a pastry/dessert heaven and deciding what to get was really difficult (especially when you're hungry and want to devour everything). I decided to go with the chocolate croissant with a cafe con leche. The croissant was delicious and really hit the spot! My friends order several other items. The only reason for the -1 star was because they initially got our order wrong but fixed it promptly. Definitely coming back here when I am in Barcelona.

This place was very consistent for me when I went there. Service was always topnotch and always with a smile. Food was tasty and full of flavor. Price was extremely reasonable. Café did not disappoint either. Secure Wi-Fi and it worked. Although this is in the busy section of the Rambla it is worth it. I went there in the afternoons and evenings. They have been around since 1906 so they must be doing something right to last that long in business.

This is a very old and well known pastry shop. It's right on Las Ramblas, but the inside does not feel too big or touristy. I had the signature dessert, which is the Red Lips! I always wear red lipstick, so this was very fitting. I was served in the small, but quaint dining area and the staff made sure I was attended to. The dessert was very creamy and inside held a surprise of cake and a passion fruit filling. I didn't know what to expect, but was very pleased! I would absolutely try more of their creations.

While we were in Barcelona rushing to make an appointment I noticed this shop out of the corner of…read moremy eye.. it looked so good that we decided to come back just to try some of their treats and boy they did not disappoint. We tried one of their chocolate desserts, a chocolate chip cookie and a matcha drink. All of them were great.. so great that I ended up buying a pistachio brookie to go. To this day we regret not buying more stuff to bring back home. The service was great and quick. The place was clean and cute to dine in with a few tables! Overall I'd definitely stop by if I'm in Barcelona again!

Had to try a gluten free bakery while in Barcelona of course (one of many). Chok is for chocolate…read morebut they didn't sell any actual chocolates... but there was a rotation of special flavored cinnamon rolls, rookies, brownies, mini cakes, cookies, and cheesecakes. There were a few loaves of bread but mostly there were those sweets and it seems they have those all the time. We got a regular cinnamon roll because the flavored ones didn't have as much of the frosting on it which is the best part, and a pistachio cream rookie... no im not sure what a rookie is but it looked like a Levain cookie (the famous one from NY) as it was a mountain of a dessert. We had both treats heated up... although they weren't actually hot lol. The cinnamon roll was on par with others I've had, maybe even slightly drier but the frosting was amazing and I still enjoyed it a lot. The rookie was quite decadent and the inside was an almost cake texture? Still quite tasty but I think both would've knocked it out of the park if they were actually hot and ooey gooey. Five stars because it wasn't bad but I can't say I'm super impressed. I will be going to other gf bakeries over this one

All of them were absolutely scrumptious and left me wanting more after I finished my cup! The 4.9 rating on Yelp is definitely well deserved. The business is located on one of the small narrow streets on the edge of the Gothic quarter. It's definitely a place you will need to be purposely searching for as this business does not jump out at you until you are right on top of it. As it is a narrow business with limited seating, it will be hit or miss if you get an inside table as most of the sales that were happening while I was there was takeout. Just something to keep in mind if you're looking for sit down dining. Overall, I rarely have had ice cream this good and if you are a fan of well-made ice cream then this is a business you should definitely check out if you are in the Gothic quarter.

We decided on the mixed cup of dolce leche and the vegan blueberry gelato priced at 4€. The blueberry was very sweet and creamy which blended well with the light chocolate dolce. The last two pieces of brioche bread was gobbled up by my two friends who filled them with gelato, at least they let me try it. The bread tasted fresh and not too flaky and with the cold gelato in the center it was a good combo. The bathroom was oddly constructed. It was clean although made for small humans as my head literally hit the roof.
