The much-anticipated bakery--our first breakfast of the trip--didn't quite live up to the hype. Kiddo and I grabbed coffee before arriving at Hoffman by 9:05 AM. Just one customer inside, five minutes after opening--a quiet start to the day. We ordered two mascarpone croissants, one almond croissant, two Dark Moons, and two pistachio eggs--€51 gone in a blink. Verdict? Way too sweet for our taste. The croissant was flaky but ruined by its sugary glaze (3/5). The Dark Moon was a stunner but a total sugar bomb (3/5). The pistachio egg? The unexpected winner--citrusy filling balanced the sweetness, and the pistachio cream had an avocado-like twist that surprisingly worked. Worth a detour? Probably not. But if you're nearby, grab a pastry or two--just don't overdo it like we did. Now our fridge is a pastry storage unit!

When in Barcelona, you must get pastries from Pastelería Hofmann. They are so darn good. Now, my personal experience here was slightly overshadowed because my best friend's phone was stolen right out of her hand outside of this bakery! She was waiting to meet a few of us and a bicycler rode by and snagged it, wompwomp. So exercise caution in this high tourist, high pick pocket area. Now with that out of the way, the desserts here are phenomenal. Pastelería Hofmann is the bakery for the accompanying Michelin starred restaurant Hoffman. There's no seating inside but you can grab and go a ton of amazing options. Everything is very high quality and some of the desserts are so darn unique, more on my unique yum in a bit. This bakery has the perfect cross of food as art but also tasting really traditionally good. So in short, all these beautiful pieces also taste good. Their croissants are the things of legends. We read the mascarpone croissant is a must get and the universe is not wrong. We had a classic (2,20€) and a mascarpone (4€), both soft and flaky, but the mascarpone just puts it over the top. Creamy, milky cheese inside makes everything better. Now of all those beautiful dessert art pieces, I chose the Dark Moon (9€) for it's super cool presentation and promise of chocolate. Oh. My. Gosh. I can't even explain how the weird melding of all the flavors somehow pulled together. The Dark Moon is one of the most delicious desserts I've ever had. Black sesame paste, caramel cream, vanilla and whiskey, dark chocolate mousse, cocoa cookie and chocolate sponge cake....it doesn't make any sense! But it works so well and now I'm reminded of how I may never have it again. My sad heart needs to go back to Barcelona stat!!!

Pastries were great! Life-changing? No. But yes, if you're in the area, give the pastries a try. We had the famous pain Au chocolate croissant and a ham cheese one as well which was very crisp. Both were good!

Grab an Americano and mango croissant. Everything is good. Only negative is there's no where to sit and it's take away only.

I was out for a run when I was struck by what looked like some art pieces at the time, but realized they were desserts! I decided to stop in and the staff were incredibly helpful with giving a quick rundown of the desserts and other baked goods. The main attraction was the front show case of intricately designed desserts that looked way too good to eat. I ended up going with the pistachio which also ended up having a nice citrus flavor inside after breaking through the delicate chocolate shell. I also bought some cookies to go which went great with some coffee. Definitely recommend checking out if you're in the area to enjoy some artistically crafted desserts!

if you visit barcelona, this place is really good...located in el born neighborhood in barcelona...nice shop and selection...had to get the mascarpone croissant 4 euros...best ever had...a flakey croissant filled with mascarpone...filling is light and not too sweet...hard to describe...went back for more on other days...chocolate 3,5 euros was also tasty, but mascarpone the favorite and most popular...cheese cake and other delights might also be great options, but couldn't get over the mascarpone...so good...

Wow! be prepared to be amazed by the craftsmanship and the deep, surprising flavors at this dessert shop. I tried the mooncake, and it was absolutely incredible. Each dessert is so beautifully made that you almost don't want to eat it, but once you do, the flavors live up to the artistry.

It's inspiring just to walk into the store. The pastries are artistically designed and the croissants are delicious.

What a gorgeous patisserie with such exquisite desserts. Once you enter, there's a display with delicately made desserts that look like artwork at a museum. But aside from that, the main reason to come here is for the Mascarpone Croissant (€4). We got one of those and the Dark Moon (€9), which came in a really nice box. The dark moon is a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse, vanilla whiskey, caramel cream, and black sesame paste to create the layers to the core. It's pretty and very decadent. But of course, I fell in love with the mascarpone croissant here. The layers are perfectly crispy and the sweet creaminess of the mascarpone pairs so well inside the croissant. I wish I had the stomach to eat more of these!

This is a fancy French (?) pastry shop. The desserts are creative and molded into unique shapes, like volcanic rock or ravioli. The tastes are exquisite and refined. I was impressed with the creative flavor combinations, but some did not work. Here are the pastries I tried: * Manzana Blanca: The apple and yogurt flavors blended well and were not overly sweet. This was my favorite. * Pistacho: The presentation was great. It really looked like a pistachio nut, shell and all. I assumed the flavor would be too, but it had additional ingredients like orange jam. I think it would have worked better as a pistachio flavor by itself (1 star off). * Volcanic: This was a classic chocolate and nut combination. * Dark Moon: Not only was the outer shell hard to crack open, the black sesame paste, chocolate, and whiskey together were an odd combination for a filling. Although I liked each individual component, I did not feel like they worked together (1 star off). * Croissant: They claim to have the best croissants. I did try one. It was good, but would not consider it the best. Note: There are no descriptions or allergy information on display. You have to browse their website for information if it's difficult for you to inquire in verbal Spanish. There is no seating area. All orders are to-go. Some customers use the dirty stone benches around the corner from the shop. I find it funny that the trash bins around there were full of the blue Pasteleria Hofmann boxes and bags! It seems wasteful to throw away all that packaging. The pastries were quite expensive. At €9-10 a piece, I would have expected more than the dirty stone benches around the corner. Then again, they need to pay for all that pretty packaging.

Honestly, I've never heard of this place prior to coming here, so I didn't know what the hype was about. After trying some of their products and walking around the store, I can see the hype. The pastries were beautifully crafted and one bite just wasn't enough. We got 3 to try. We also tried one of the mascarpone croissants. It is a little expensive especially for the pastries. Great service. -Mascarpone croissant 5/5 - delicious cream filling. Croissant was crisp and soft. -Dark moon - 5/5 - I can definitely taste that black sesame flavor along with the chocolate mousse -La rosa - 5/5 - good combination of dark chocolate and raspberry -Pistachio - 5/5 - interesting flavor with pistachio, orange, passion fruit, and yuzu.

Best desserts in town. Outstanding in taste. Nice selection of fine picks. The only problem is no napkins when asked and no place to sit and eat

Walking thru the area, saw a line of people waiting. Curiosity got the best of both my friend and I so we jumped in line to see what the hubbub was all about. People were in line, just before closing to get their hands on the Best Pastry of Catalonia in 2020, 2021 and 2022. They had also won Best Croissant of Spain back in 2010. We went back a few times; each time getting the same thing - Mascarpone and Raspberry Croissants. Everyone has different tastes but I guess mine aligns with those who voted this Pastelaria for the best goods the last few years running. Pics don't do the goods justice. Just go and try it for yourself. Not much more I can say other than they take cash or card. Know that if you pay cash, you'll be ushered to back register. And no seating. It's all takeaway aka to go.

We tried one of their chocolate desserts, a chocolate chip cookie and a matcha drink. All of them were great.. so great that I ended up buying a pistachio brookie to go. To this day we regret not buying more stuff to bring back home. The service was great and quick. The place was clean and cute to dine in with a few tables! Overall I'd definitely stop by if I'm in Barcelona again!

Had to try a gluten free bakery while in Barcelona of course (one of many). Chok is for chocolate…read morebut they didn't sell any actual chocolates... but there was a rotation of special flavored cinnamon rolls, rookies, brownies, mini cakes, cookies, and cheesecakes. There were a few loaves of bread but mostly there were those sweets and it seems they have those all the time. We got a regular cinnamon roll because the flavored ones didn't have as much of the frosting on it which is the best part, and a pistachio cream rookie... no im not sure what a rookie is but it looked like a Levain cookie (the famous one from NY) as it was a mountain of a dessert. We had both treats heated up... although they weren't actually hot lol. The cinnamon roll was on par with others I've had, maybe even slightly drier but the frosting was amazing and I still enjoyed it a lot. The rookie was quite decadent and the inside was an almost cake texture? Still quite tasty but I think both would've knocked it out of the park if they were actually hot and ooey gooey. Five stars because it wasn't bad but I can't say I'm super impressed. I will be going to other gf bakeries over this one
