I wanted to update my review. The owner had contacted me after my last review but I never went back, deciding to write this Puckett's off. It took us a long time to come back to this particular Puckett's, even having been to the ones in Franklin and Chattanooga and enjoying them. We got there at the switch of breakfast and lunch. My husband order The Hoss breakfast. Wow, what a meal! Very tasty and more food than he could eat. I order the pork BBQ with slaw and fries. Everything was tasty and on par with the other Puckett's. Their slaw has some horseradish in it and by itself it's not my favorite but take a little bit and add it to a bite of pork and yummy! The service was excellent. A very attentive young lady named Lilly. I am only giving this 4 stars because it was an off time, having only a handful of other tables. We will be back at a busier time to see how things are then. I am so very happy that we had a better all around meal and service. I love Pucketts and expect to have a high quality meal and service at every location. read more

Went at a busy time and waited about 30 mins to get a seat. Nice atmosphere and wait staff was friendly but not particularly efficient. Our food was ok. Felt ripped off by the kids meals. $7.50 each and not edible. The macaroni and cheese had no cheese and no taste. Two children who always love mac&cheese took a couple of tastes and pushed it away. They also had mixed fruit which was mostly tasteless honeydew so that didn't get eaten either . The waiter took away two full meals. When I complained that the mac & cheese was terrible he explained that the adult version has cheese on top and is baked in an iron skillet but not children's. then charged us 7.50 each! I have been a regular at Puckett's for quite sometime, the food is great most days but I've had a particularly bad experience with a manager by I believe the name of Daniel. I was there the other day and couldn't get this off my mind, needless to say he has an awful attitude. The way we hear him talk to the servers is degrading ( I personally heard him telling a server that all of the other servers were *expletive* stupid). He continuously gave me dirty looks and being very rude to our server. All around made our experience very uncomfortable. I feel the service would run a lot happier and smoother if management treated the servers with positive reinforcement. I usually don't say anything but I genuinely feel bad for the staff under his wrath of leadership. read more

First time at Pucketts! Cute restaurant, cozy and southern. My service was fantastic, the waitress told me and my husband about the menu and specials. Also adding how the company got started (very sweet) which made us appreciate the atmosphere! We came for the lunch special. The food came out quick and hot, But was not very impressed with the flavor. It was pretty bland although the skillet mac and cheese was to die for. I tried the shrimp and grits, it was good, only had too much sauce, so I had the server bring me some more grits. Much better. It's a little spicy, but that suited me fine. My wife had the fried chicken, a big mistake. It came with green beans and mashed potatoes and a corn cake. The green beans were straight out of the can with no seasoning, the mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes, and the corn cake was flat tasting and to sweet. Second time around. After our first visit, we decided to try one more time. I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised with this visit, mostly thanks to the server, Rahsaan, (name on receipt thankfully). My wife had the catfish, said it was good. I had the meatloaf, it was good too. Portions were generous, especially the slab of meatloaf. About our server, it would be worth it to call ahead and see if he was working. This time the staff was friendlier. We'll be back, maybe try breakfast. read more

We decided to eat at Puckett's in Murfreesboro for my wife's birthday, they have a nice selection on the menu. My son is a pretty picky eater and was able to find quite a few things that he was interested in. Pretty cool setting. Our server Katie was wonderful, she provided us with quite a bit of attention. My family and I went to Puckett's tonight to celebrate my birthday and my daughter in laws birthday, we made a reservation for 6 and we were seated about 6:10. No problem!! We sat for 25 minutes before anyone came to take a drink order and that took another 15 minutes to be brought back to us. The server said he would be right back another 15 minutes go by and he finally came to take our order, we placed the order and about 30 minutes go by and the server came to tell us that all of our food was ready but that they had run out of smoked chicken. By the way they only start serving smoked chicken after 5 pm and they only make 8 smoked chickens, not sure why you would even put that on your menu!!! So my husband and daughter had to choose another option. Everyone else had food waiting already, did they not know they were out of smoked chicken by the time they had played the other 5 orders?? Our food finally came out about 20 minutes later!! The food was very bland, no flavor at all!! The server came by after several minutes to see if everything was ok and we told him that we were disappointed in the food and that it had no taste and all he could do was say I am sorry and he walked away. After a few minutes of trying to eat the dinner we had ordered by adding salt and pepper and the sauces on the table , the manager came by to ask how things were and we told him the same thing and all he could do was say I am sorry and walk away. I have heard such great things about the restaurant and was excited to go but from the poor service and the bland food I have no interest in going back!! I think the portions are small and the meals are overpriced and very much under seasoned!! To top everything off our server was training a young lady to serve he is not the one to train because he not properly trained himself!! I had to leave one star but I really would have left zero!! Edit: as promised I am changing my review from the original post. My family and I went in for dinner and to celebrate another birthday, our experience was much better this time. Our server was attentive, food was hot. The food is still very under seasoned and bland. I will still stand by the portion size and price. I don't think it is a good value for the money. I normally don't leave under a 3 star review, but I'm very disappointed with Puckett's! I work just down the road and called in a order for lunch. Waited 20 mins, then went to pick it up and had to wait another 10 mins for my food. Paid $15 bucks..... FOR LUNCH! Got back to work, NO FRIES!! Called up there to make sure I got fries for $15. They just forgot them. Glad I worked just a min walk away!!! Food was fine, but nothing special! Chicken was tough! Will not be back, and I don't recommend it! read more

We went to Puckett's on the square expecting the same experience we had in Franklin. It was far from it! My omelette was greasy and sparsely filled. My husband's medium eggs and well done country ham came out the opposite...well done eggs and a greasy slightly cooked piece of country ham. The side of hash browns was good but came out before the dish. The amount of food and the way it was prepared for the price was embarrassing for them! We left and went to CJ'S in the borough. I keep wanting to love this place. The location is great, the atmosphere is cool, and the the genre of food served is great. However, the service is very much ehh at best and the recipes are bad. The vegetables and sides taste canned, stale, and basically just old. There is only one main to choose from and that is BBQ which is 2 stars on a good day. Upon my last review, I got an immediate response from ownership and they were great in giving me an opportunity to try the restaurant again! I'm raising my rating based on the way ownership responded and for the atmosphere of the restaurant. I really like the concept of the place in my mind, but there are just a couple things that keep this from being a 5 star. I still was a bit let down by the food itself on my second visit. Like I said before, the food was just average. I really want it to be better, but it just hasn't been outstanding. On a Friday night, our group of 30 searched for a restaurant to accommodate us! All of us were from different states visiting for a weekend conference. Puckett's not only brought us in, but set us up in the back party room and went out of their way to appease us. Our server/bartender Katie was fabulous and did a superb job for our group. I love the ambiance and decor, and I really liked it the first time I visited. I went back on Sunday afternoon, though, and had a pretty awful chicken salad sandwich and potato salad. The sandwich was so dry it was almost inedible and the wheat bread it was on was very basic grocery store bread. I liked the grapes/pecans/celery; if it had only had some Dukes mayo and a nice artisan bread it would have been much better. I don't think the potato salad is salvageable - yuck! It tasted like they'd dumped a leftover loaded baked potato into a bowl and stuck it in the refrigerator! How about a nice Southern potato salad that doesn't taste stale? And at least one free refill on fruit tea? You can do better Puckett's; if you don't, you won't last with all the good restaurants we have in the 'boro. read more

We went twice over the weekend, A lunch visit and a breakfast visit, The service is horribly slow to non existent! Food is just Ok??, I was told this is just a "soft" opening?? What's that?. Had to give 1 star.. Sad... Went to a Christmas function this evening, $27 per head. Wife and I had a whopping total of 5 bites. Chicken was rubber, no flavor. Bush's baked beans are better, Velveeta Mac and cheese is better. Tea tasted like colored water. $54 later we are eating at Macaroni Grill. Totally disappointed. Puckett's just rides the namesake. Arrived at Puckett's on a Saturday night for a (9:20) late night dinner. When we were seated we ordered our drinks, one fruit tea (a must have) and one unsweet tea. The waiter arrived quickly with my fruit tea and informed my husband that they had already broken down service for the evening and no longer had tea available. So he had water. Then after ordering, our food arrives. My husband ordered the pork sandwich and I ordered the shrimp and grits. Not a wise choice. The grits were more like soup...and in fact I had to ask for a soup spoon in order to eat my food! The grits couldn't be picked up with a fork! The shrimp was rubbery and floating in my grits was a nice wad of congealed grits...that sort of lovely skin found on the top of oatmeal after it has sat for a long while. Then when the waiter asked if he could get us anything else, we asked to see a menu so we could order a dessert...it was our anniversary! He told us that it was 10:00 and the kitchen had already closed, but he could get us the check....ummm what?!? I get it being close to close when we arrived. But if you don't have food or don't want to serve food after a certain time, then tell your customer that up front...before you seat them. And anyone showing up after a certain time will get sub-par service and food. So if you are looking for a late night eatery, this is not the place to go. I like to support local, but if the carpet is really being rolled up at 9:00 so that the staff can leave at 10:00 and I'm just keeping them from that, I'll look somewhere else. And $25 for a soupy bowl of shrimp and grits?....um...never again. read more

On Tuesday 3/6/18, 6 of us came to eat here for my best friends birthday. She had traveled with her family from Northern New York to visit. Upon her request for some good southern eats and some bbq, I chose Puckett's in the Boro, as I had been there before with a friend. We arrived an hour before close and the staff looked agitated. There were approximately 8 others dining when we arrived with a good amount of staff on. Let me start by saying that I have been in the restaurant industry for many years and have probably more patience and empathy because of it. Non of my party will ever return, it was a disaster! The food and service were beyond disappointing. We ordered both alcohol and non beverages after being greeted. The drinks took 15 min to arrive and my mother's didn't come until being requested after waiting another 15 for it! We ordered the fried green beans and pickles at the same time, surprisingly those came out quick and were the highlight of our meal even after being bland and greasy. No refills of drinks except my water were ever brought. Lemons, ranch, silverware all requested and forgotten. We ordered our meals and waited a good 30 min for sandwiches, Mac and cheese, salad, burger and chicken tenders. The pulled sliders were very dry, the burger wasn't even the right one. The Mac and cheese was boring and over cooked, and the both the razzberry and balsamic vinaigrette were incredibly bitter, thick and inedible! I had reminded the server at beginning of the meal that there was a birthday at the table and after reminding him several times during the meal, only after the bills came and he was reminded again did we recieve the birthday cobbler that was ok. My son had ordered their fried brownie sundae of which was ordered prior to the restaurant closing. We were first told they had shut down the fryers and he couldn't have in and then later told he could. We there for well over an hour. This establishment needs a cook revamp and better training for their Waite staff. read more

I would review this this establishment as very unsatisfactory. First and foremost I'll begin with saying I work in the food industry raising it every day to be processed so folks like you may eat good quality meals everyday. Pucketts claims to be a "Down Home" "Southern" "Like Momma" made it restaurant, I personally would be embarrassed to be owner and even call it a place where they cook there own meals. I went to this restaurant with a group of 12 we were seated at 5:25 our reservations were for 5:30. Each person at the table ordered something different. Our food was delivered very quickly. The first thing I noticed was each item they served looked a lot like many of the frozen food items you'd find in the Kroger frozen food section. I started looking closer and tasting off people's plates and sure enough. The rolls were sister shuberts, the sweet potato fries and Potato fries were simple frozen backed fries. Shrimp out of shrimp and grits was frozen, hamburger frozen, baked beans were bushs baked beans, catfish was frozen catfish sticks prebreaded. This "Restaurant" was getting frozen food hearing it up and serving it to people as "Down Home" cooking for about 2-3 times as much as the crap is really worth. Along with nothing being fresh there was no seasoning at all on anything not a morsel of salt dabbed on anything. I work in the AG industry and food industry this is pathetic to call this a restaurant I for one would recommend save the money and time and shop in Kroger or publix frozen food section where you can at least pay to eat the same stuff for half the cost. read more

This was our first time at Pucketts on Valentines day. The staff was friendly and we got our food fast. My complaint that needs to be resolved in places like this is the complete lack of options for someone who doesn't eat meat. 99.9% of the meals are meat centered and when I ordered the black bean burger, the only vegetarian item on the menu, they were out of it. This wouldn't be a problem, but they have no other options for me, so I ended up having to get dessert for dinner. read more

Do not book Puckett's restaurant for a party. My family booked Puckett's party room a month and a half in advance for my graduation party. Upon arriving we were told they had double booked our party room and another group of people was already in our reserved room. We were placed in the middle of the restaurant at a long table and unable to get up and socialize. After 2 hours they finally moved us into the party room we had originally reserved. There is a lack of communication between the restaurant and the party coordinator which led to the double booking. Very unprofessional! read more

We came here mostly because it was a beautiful day and we wanted to sit outside and we saw Puckett's has great seating out front. Our service was excellent and the food was delicious. We both got the barbecue sandwiches and the sauces they had available were delicious. We also ended up getting the cobbler of the day and were pleased to find out that it was made from blueberries purchased at the local farmer market the day before and it was great! We have been to Puckett's Murfreesboro several times and have even brought out of town guests there. The food has always been terrific! This morning we went there for breakfast and could not get service. We were seated immediately as they were not busy yet. But for the next 12-13 minutes we were completely ignored. Two tables that came in after us, got service quickly. We even asked the hostess if we could get some service and still dis not. There were at least six servers standing around the service area and still we couldn't get service. We finally decided to take our money elsewhere. The manager Autumn was very apologetic but by then it was obvious that we did not matter to the folks there. Just wanted to update my review: we gave Puckett's another try this morning and even though they were incredibly busy, the service was great and the food was terrific. Our server, Madison, was adorable and very attentive. We couldn't have asked for a better Mother's Day experience. Thanks, Puckett's we'll be back! read more

I have to say I am not impressed. Although they had a Great and promising atmosphere. we arrived around lunch time, party of 4, we were greeted and sat right away! This was my 1st time here, and I had heard great things! We were all excited to try it! Looking at the menu, the prices were average and not overpriced! We ordered our drinks, and then waited 10 more minutes for our server to return. Once we ordered, the food came at a decent time, but it was subpar. Very disappointing. Cold fries and sandwiches, even my green beans were cold. Even then, Not a big deal, we were there during their lunch rush. However, our waitress couldn't be found the duration of our meal, not only were our drinks empty, one of our party had ordered a milkshake, and he hadn't received it yet. When he finally did, it was a melted mess, still no water refills! Among other things. Since it was our first time, we will probably give this place one more shot, but the terrible service we received, and the overall bad demeanor of the wait staff has got me hesitating. read more

The wifey and I have heard nothing but good things about this establishment. We were eager to check it out. This afternoon; not quite dinner time yet, we finally got a chance to stop in for a warm 'slupper'. The weather outside was pouring rain, yet we were asked if we would like to sit at a table outside (!?). Was this some sort of cruel joke? Was it some sort of modern day segregation as if we were not were not good enough to dine amongst those who were fortunate enough to sit inside, in a dry atmosphere-controlled environment. at one of the many free tables. Maybe I might be looking too much into this? Maybe this is all just a case of inexperience being tasked with organizing the front of the house? Just HOW MANY young, confused apprentices should be behind that front podium? I counted a least four. Two without a care in the world sprinkled with resentment for their job, and the another two poor unfortunate, inexperienced kids. Puckett's was supposed to be a nice place. We ended up going across the square to the Alley on Main. We had a good meal with pleasant and prompt service. read more

The Franklin and downtown locations have always had great food - hoping the Murfreesboro location improves! Last night was my first time eating at Pucketts in Murfreesboro. I was waiting a few weeks to let them settle in and work out the kinks. Overall, the service is poor. It takes about 10 minutes to receive a glass of wine from the bar. The server kept bringing the wrong drinks to our table. My friend ordered a rum and coke and was delivered white wine?! The food was mediocre and I literally had to beg the server to take away my dirty dish an hour after completing my meal. I find that unacceptable. You will be charged $10 a person to listen to an hour and a half of live music. I personally feel that if your eating dinner and drinking then you should only be charged $5 at the most. It's funny because the restaurant cleared out at 8 when they began charging you to hear the music. I think a smart business would rather have a full restaurant of patrons buying drinks then a half full restaurant paying a cover charge. Overall, I'm not thrilled with the experience. It feels like a glorified meat and three with inflated prices and really bad service. I think this is a better lunch place, but not a dinner spot. read more
