I don't normally leave negative reviews, but I feel like this has gone too far. I shop at the APEX Publix (16560 N Nebraska Ave, Lutz, FL 33549) regularly. Even though there's an Aldi across the street from my house, I've always trusted Publix with the more "risky" items, even at twice the price, because I grew up trusting Publix to maintain quality. Lately, I don't feel like I can keep having that mindset. Over the past few months, I've repeatedly noticed more and more products being left on shelves past their expiration date. Some of these are higher-risk items like milk. I've brought this to the attention of the store manager multiple times, but it continues to happen. Tonight (December 20, 2025) I went to buy Horizon Organic Milk, and the entire front row was expired on December 4, 2025. That's more than two weeks old. I have three small children with me most of the time, including a 3-month-old, and sometimes I forget to check every single expiration date. I can't tell you how many times I've bought something assuming it was fine, only to realize at home that it was expired. Publix is good about exchanging expired products, but it's exhausting to have to keep going back to return items that are expired for a week that I bought yesterday. And it's not just milk. I spend at least $1,000 a month at Publix, and I would estimate that around $300 worth of what I bring home ends up being expired. This has become a constant issue. What made it worse tonight was the response. I asked for the store manager again and told him the milk had been expired for over 16 days and was still on the shelf. He basically walked away from me while mumbling and was very dismissive, like I was wasting his time. I didn't get his name, but he was the store manager, and I was there around 7pm. I assumed he would take care of it. About 30 minutes later I walked by the milk again and nothing had been done at all. If it were me, I would have pulled it immediately. That's a liability. It honestly makes me sad to write this. Publix is highly regarded here in Tampa, and I've been hearing more and more stories like this from my mommy groups and friends. We all know Publix is expensive compared to other stores, but we pay for it because we expect quality and attention to detail. At least Aldi's milk isn't expired for two weeks and it's a third of the price. Even Walmart doesn't have expired products everywhere. I hope corporate takes this seriously and fixes whatever process is breaking down at this location, because my trust in Publix has been severely diminished. read more

Deli customer service is nonexistent. Associates are focused on other things than helping the customers. Store management is poor and had nothing to say about their poor customer service. While this location is convenient at times, I will go out of my way to find groceries elsewhere and not shop at this store. read more

Publix Super Market at Apex I'm a confirmed BOGO Publix Thursday shopper.....but this store at the Apex is my LEAST favorite Publix---EVER!!!! Very poor training of department management. Several recent dust-ups occuired due to asst managers NOT knowing actual Publix policy; or asst managers forgetting the "holy grail of retail:" *********The customer is always right!********** One recent problem: deli would NOT slice block cheeses from dairy section! I've done this for years when block cheese is BOGO! Not only did deli "person in charge" state against policy....but backed up by "Steve" assist mgr! So I called HQ....and next day Apex called to apologize and admit they were in error----and admit I had block cheese sliced at other Publix! Same snafu on "wrong price ring up!" If Publix rings wrong price----item is free! Again I had to call corporate HQ to get action at Apex. Last week I had manufacturers coupon Benihana for 6 frozen items of my choice. Customer service manager Phillip Alvarez denied coupons because they had no "size in ounces" denotation on coupon! Yet Benihana only makes frozen meals in one size....several flavors! Coupon said "ANY ITEM!" Another call to corporate....another apology and extra $10.00 Publix coupon! See a pattern here? Yesterday it became apparent why so many of management team failed their job duties; they are trained by their sore manger, Kedrin Fraum! She is extremely rude and confrontational! Upon entering store, the rack had only specials handout that ended at closing on Saturday. So I asked if they had a "new" mailer with new BOGO's that wasn't expiring. Ms, Fraum curtly corrected me saying the current spacials aren't "expired" until a few hours later at closing! Ehhh....I said "expiring" not expired....but it gets better! The new booklet is valid Monday-Wednesday so I asked if they had one that lasted longer then two days; she AGAIN corrected me telling me it was 3 days---not two days! Wow! Nothing to fight about! I mentioned maybe she should remember that I, the customer, should never be corrected or told I was "wrong," especially concerning such trivial minutia. She kept going! She wanted to be certain I was corrected to know the correct dates! To which I replied "The customer is always right, don't you agree?" She did not! THAT will be the last money I spend in that store!!!! The Northgate Publix where I shopped before....never would've had such confrontational management in place! In fact, I keep my Rx's all there! Publix is considerably the best market in Florida, and this was my most favorite place to shop. The items were high quality and might be a little bit pricier than some other markets, but sometimes there were fantastic deals like BOGO Haagen-Dazs and Ben & Jerry ice cream or BOGO delicious Pepperidge Farm cookies. Also, there were vast selections of fresh steak and seafood, not to mention raw out-of-the-sea oysters, scallops, and lobsters. Boar Hogs subs were to die for. We often visited here to get some hot lunches. Also, the bakery was excellent. read more

They blame their site problems on the customer, and then charge them again when yearly subscription had been purchased. Also, my mastercard company refuses to honor transactions with Instacart. The pharmacy in this location s@$cks. I've shopped at the Collier Parkway location for 15 years and have routinely used that pharmacy to fill prescriptions. Three years ago I moved and found that the location at the US 41 apex was more convenient but continued to fill my script renewals at Collier. After dealing with the rude and aggressive drivers that populate the Collier Parkway area for years, I'd finally had enough. I decided it was no longer worth driving to that Publix for medicine. Last week I dropped off a script at the Apex location to give them a try. I am so sorry that I did. The young pharmacy tech was so snotty that I almost lost it. I won't bore you with the details but I will say that it wasn't what she said it was HOW SHE SAID IT. She was extremely condescending and I'm not the type to tolerate a smarta$$. Hiding behind your trendy beatnik glasses doesn't make you intelligent sugar.... I'm hoping my call to the corporate office will prevent this young woman from spreading her special brand of joy to other patrons. No one needs to be treated poorly. I won't be back. I'll head to Walgreens to fill my scripts from now on. Publix as a company, really should address customer service again. Many of the staff are snotty and rude. many others aren't but I find that certain locations, like the one at the US 41 apex, seem to cultivate obnoxious employees. I love my publix. For the most part everybody here is very helpful, friendly, and courteous. Every once in awhile there is some spaced out, zero personality, young bag boy who stares at you like your from Mars and clueless! Hello oooo space cadet...anybody in there?!?!? But, then you'll never see that one again and his replacement most likely will be a lateral move or diagonal at best.....hence, 4 and not 5 stars. Otherwise, it's clean and orderly with decently sized aisles. There's a super sweet young Latin girl in the meat department who always remembers our names and has a beautiful smile and super friendly demeanor. Pharmacy is great n very helpful as well. I obviously love Publix (who doesn't?!) but this location has a handful of rude employees that make you feel unwelcome. Definitely not what I'm used to at Publix. I'm always polite and understanding but I've been ignored multiple times (whether it's at the deli station or while trying to check out). Employees chit chatting and not acknowledging your presence even though you know they see you. I've had multiple uncomfortable experiences and think to myself, "This is unlike Publix". Unfortunately this location is closest to my home so I will continue to return. Produce department is fantastic though! Always stocked and very friendly! read more

This Publix is on point. Sushi is great each and every time I go there. Produce is always fresh and looks great. There is only one other Publix that (in my opinion) is better and that is Publix GreenWise in South Tampa. read more

I frequent Publix at least once a week to do my regular grocery shopping, and this ones by far the best I have gone to. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Being I shop here so often, the staff remembers us, which really makes the customer feel appreciated. I like the set-up of the store and how large it is compared to others. I have never seen this store anything but clean and organized, and I shop at probably the busiest times on the weekends. Publix also has such great deals, I like how they change frequently since I am there weekly! read more

I will say that this is one of the prettiest and cleanest Publix's I have ever been in, but that is where it ends. The customer service here is almost nonexistent. When I moved to the area I was thrilled that this was going to be MY Publix. Then I was greeted with the horrible reality that I was better off shopping at a Walmart! Being right outside of Avila I would think that there service would be top notch. I guess the old saying of money doesn't buy happiness rings true. The only friendly people here are the ones who stock the isles. If you want to shop at a place where smart aleck children run free - and I am talking about the employees - then this is the place for you. And don't bother trying to talk to their management; in their eyes they are always right not the customer. I would like to state that I am not basing my opinion off of one visit, and I am not some evil person that looks to complain. I truly have had multiple bad experiences here. This is one of the best Publix stores that I have ever visited. Not only is it extremely clean, but it also has a great selection of products. In fact, this Publix has one of the largest selections of organic, vegetarian, and international products in the Tampa area. These products are always on the shelf and ready for you to take home that very day. If you're looking for a specialty product and cannot find it at your local specialty grocer, you will likely find it at this Publix store. As to service, this Publix exceeds all others in the area. The employees are always friendly and ready to help with your shopping needs. If you need a question answered, just look over your shoulder and a Publix employee will be somewhere close by. If you have a problem, the Customer Service desk is always willing to help out. Overall, it is my opinion that you should definitely try this Publix store. read more

EXTREMELY rude publix, my son who is 7 years old tried to go get a FREE cookie and they were so rude and tried to charge him 20 cents to get a cookie? "where shopping is a pleasure" my butt, I went to costumer services about it because I had a feeling they were pocketing the change but again extremely rude. The main manager is completely unprofessional and is trying to make an extra buck off of children. honestly could not care less about the cookie, it just baffles me that they treated a child like this. Every other publix hands him a cookie with a smile on their face. I just don't understand why a million dollar company is so cheap that they're trying to make an extra 20 cents off of a child wanting a cookie that he understands is free. There's no cash register behind the counter and they're still trying to just take the 20 cents do what with it? put in their pocket. I love Publix, this one too, but I'm giving it 3 stars based on how they handle their online ordering. I usually place an online order for a sub then go pick it up when it's ready. I won't do it again, at least not at this store. It's like they don't care about how they make your sub when you're not watching them do it. There are ingredients consistently missing from my sub after I check it when I get home, because I shouldn't have to do that in the store. I gave them another chance today because there's usually a line, and I ordered one for my boyfriend too. I asked for extra mayonnaise and honey mustard on his sandwich using the comment section in the online ordering, and when we got home and he began to eat his sandwich there were literally just a few drops of each on his sub after I gave clear instructions. Why have the online ordering if it's not going to be consistent or trustworthy? This Publix is close to my house so I will go back, but I'll stand in line and make sure what I'm paying for is made correctly. read more

I honestly couldn't get luckier having this Publix less than 2 minutes from my home. The customer service here is top notch and all the associates are friendly and helpful. I know quite a good handful of them because I work and live in the same neighborhood and it is so nice to have that "Cheers" feeling when I go grocery shopping. This store has always taken care of my needs and has actually special ordered items for me when I complained about having to visit multiple stores in order to complete my shopping. The deli has always been quick and courteous, even at lunch time....and who doesn't LOVE a Publix sub. The meat is fresh, the produce is always well maintained and looks wonderful. I love how the store is always stocked and organized. The selection of items is always abundant. My review is not directed at any one Publix because I truly don't know which Publix was utilized. I used Publix delivery service for the first and last time yesterday. I've been a loyal customer of Publix for more then 30 years and have come to associate them with quality. So I was pressed for time on the day of my family's 4th of July party and thought delivery service would be a great option. Publix uses Instacart for its deliveries. Among the 29 items I ordered 7 were BOGOs and I ordered the advertised BOGOs. Only 3 of my BOGOs were delivered the other 4 items were single items. I had incorporated the BOGOs into my party menu. Who orders 17 burgers and one pack of burger buns? When I reported the omissions I was told this was my fault for not indicating quantity 2. Well I didn't order the 3 items I did receive BOGOs on with duplicate quantities either and yet I still managed to get the BOGOs so I reject the blame the victim dodge there. Instacart refused to bring the duplicates and refused to discount the price. This meant I had to hit a store after all which increased my costs and wasted my time. Buyer beware. i will never use this service again read more
