Used to be my favorite place for groceries but not so much anymore. Biggest complaint is the deli. The folks who work in the deli have NO enthusiasm about their job, but even more, they aren't DOING their job. I have always pre-ordered online (subs, meats, cheeses). Today was the 2nd time I've left without getting my order because it wasn't ready (15-40 minutes AFTER my scheduled pick up time). What's the point in ordering online? You would think these would be priority but clearly they aren't. No way was I gonna stand in line 10 deep to ask if they were working in my order and these days you can't approach the counter in front of others for fear of an altercation so the food stayed there. This was my favorite grocery store to go to when I was in McDonough! It had everything we wanted plus they were good about the mask policy and social distancing. I bought very delicious cupcakes one day and they were a hit! Everyone in the office liked them. The frosting was not plastic tasting but instead very creamy and soft. I waited a few more minutes while he walked around like dead lice was falling from him and I walked away. Very disappointed with my visit today. If you know me then you know I am a die hard advocate for Publix. I shop here every week, sometimes 3-5 times a week. I use Instacart to have groceries sent to my job at least twice a week. I love the fresh food and dedication to customer satisfaction. Today I did not receive that. I was purchasing groceries today for my sister using an EBT card that needed to be manually entered; I also was purchasing personal items separately. The store associate needed assistance with the manual input and no one was available. I asked her to save the transaction and proceed with next guests not to hold up the line. After 3 different lines now getting backed up with separate issues, what seemed to be manager by the name of Debbie finally came out the back office looking like she had just woken up from a nap. No smile to greet me, just came and stared at me like yes what do you need. I explained to her I was simply waiting to pay for my groceries. No sorry for the wait or any friendly greeting, just a simple "We don't usually do manual inputs", that's it. Then she bounced to the next issue prior to completing the simple task. I'd been waiting with groceries that needed to be refrigerated immediately for at least 10 minutes. Mind you I was not dressed professionally nor did I look like someone who is a professional, that which I most certainly am. I was completely offended and disgusted by the lack of customer service in that moment I almost requested a refund for the items I had already paid for and for her to cancel the entire transaction. I have NEVER in my life had management not greet me properly, or give off this disgusting attitude that Debbie was carrying. She came out her office and transferred negative energy to the entire store. The customers all looked baffled as me at the lack of customer care, and professional presence by Debbie. Debbie was rude and I am will make certain not to go to this Publix anymore if I can avoid it. There are many other Publix locations in the area that have a friendlier environment. Please make sure that your training management. You never know who comes into your stores and contributes thousands of dollars a month, and furthermore word of mouth travels fast. The location is clean and an overall great place to shop. My only complaint is the hot food section where they serve the chicken wings. The employees will pass by several times and have you waiting in line for over 10 minutes to be serviced. The female employees will even fuss, slam your food around, and complain out loud that it's not their job to be working the hot bar or deli. As a customer, I just want to purchase my food and rush home to my family. Employees should not gripe in front of the customer. read more

You know what I like best about Publix? It is not Wal-Mart. I would rather pay a little more to shop at Publix than endure Wal-Mart and save a few dollars. That savings is not worth the trip to the store and my sanity. This Publix is not only close to our home, but it is always clean and always staffed by very friendly employees. I once had a manager help me locate a certain item I needed and asked what I had planned to cook. You don't get customer service like that at many places. To me, that is worth a little higher price. My only issue with Publix, and the reason behind 4 stars instead of 5, is that they do not have a large stock of organic & healthy items that locations such as Whole Foods and Fresh Market would regularly stock. This store really has gone down. I purchased a package of turkey tenderloin today and took the package home and put it in the refrigerator. However, when I open the package to prepare dinner, it had a terrible odor, it was spoiled. I immediately took it back to the store. This location has become horrible. I'm guessing they are under new management ans it shows. The lines are always long and it's never any sense of urgency. I waited today for about 15 min for a sub. It was only one person working and the manager of the deli ( I guess) never jumped in to assist. They never even acknowledged the individuals standing in line. I mean they looked at us like we were zombies!!! I am a previous employee of this location & I do have a few things to say. I was employed here for maybe 30 days & didn't even work 15 days of that. All of the managers are very kind at the interview, but behind closed doors once you're hired & going through the orientation process it's a different story. I've watched them roll their eyes, huff & puff & act annoyed when an employees would come to the training room to ask for help. But still, I stuck around. I'm not one to care if anyone likes me or not, I was simply there to make a paycheck & provide for my family. But I was nervous going into work every time I was scheduled. The only time I felt comfortable was when Tashara (deli mgr) was there. Out of the people that have been there a long time, Ms. Hannah was the most patient one I worked with, the rest acted very stuck up. I was trying to learn my meats & cheeses, so I had to often ask for help identifying the items & it was always very awkward & uncomfortable asking for help. I went in for my first opening shift & I don't remember the girls name but I told her I had never worked opening so I needed to know where to start. She was very rude & aggravated because I couldn't catch on to what meats went on certain sandwiches (we were slicing meat & cheese for sub station). Also the customers that come in there are rude & disrespectful. The fact that you're not allowed to stand up for yourself without being considered unprofessional or fearing being wrote up or terminated is ridiculous. All managers should have their associates backs!! & lastly, do better when it comes to training new hires.... You are taught for a couple of days & then basically left to figure it out on your own. & God forbid you ask for help then you feel like a bother. When I first moved to ga 2 1/2 yrs ago I loved this place & I still do, as a customer. They have grade A products & high quality produce & deli meats/cheese, but I would have to give it a 0 from an employee point of view. I shop here a lot. The store is clean and well organized and the customer service and employees are great! I can always find what I'm looking for and I love their BOGO sales. Never had a bad experience at this store. I save more at Publix than I do at Walmart! Sometimes I go into Walmart and I'm like, " what the hell did I buy for $75?" Went into the store to ask for boxes. Was told that CJ could help me. CJ advised me to come back on Sunday and he would have plenty of boxes for me. I called before I came to the store and CJ did not want to come to the phone once he realized it was the lady calling about the boxes he promised. He put someone else up to speaking to me who advised he was in a "MEETING". I asked when would be a good time to call back and of course they did not know when I could call back. It was very obvious that the person was saying what he told them to say. I came to the store the next day and CJ decided he would hide from me. The employees told me that they did not know where he was.....I left. I mean, you can not get any lazier than this. If it's not about spending money and revenue...you can forget it. This store is almost perfect except their seafood section always smells terrible. When I first moved here, I would get fish there, but after bad fish several times and the increasingly bad smell, I have stopped. The other thing that is annoying is that you really have to watch what they charge you. The tags will say one thing and when you check out or look at your receipt it says another. The customer service desk seems to have an attitude whenever I bring my receipt back for an adjustment due to THEIR mistake. I love everything else about the store. Great place for fresh hot French, Cuban, and Chicago hard roll- breads baked daily. A nice selection of meats that can be cut or sliced to order by the butcher upon request. Great/clean store. Always has very fresh sandwiches/salads/soups and the best subs! Often has free samples from a cooked meal also. Everyone has always been very friendly. The only complaint I have is that the avocados are normally very green and a week or so from being ready to eat. This is probably just because everyone keeps buying them up while they are green. I am basing this review on the customer service desk only. I work a couple of doors down from Publix so I literally go there almost daily. Today I just needed to get change for a bill so I went to the customer service desk. The woman was so rude to me. While the customer in front me was waiting for a transaction to complete I just mentioned to the associate what I needed for when it was my turn. After I saw her hand the other customer her change and start to count out mine I stepped up and mentioned how I wanted my change she stopped counting and looked at me then said very rudely 'ma'am I will get to you she was here first'. Then directly handed me the money she counted out for me. That's considered my turn right? Not even on a bad day do I treat customers like that. I shopped here near closing time the other night, and ended up bagging a majority of my own groceries...I didn't mind, except that the customer behind me in line was giving me the stink eye because I wasn't moving fast enough! My husband and I love Publix. We generally don't buy meats here (instead going to Food Depot for their large meat dept) but we usually buy most everything else here and a close 2nd is Kroger. We have this Publix and the one on 155 closest to my work and my house so naturally we are here more than the other stores around us. They have a great bakery, we can find foods and products here we can't find anywhere else, they usually give out food while you are shopping. I despise shopping at Walmart because typically there are long lines and screaming kids. I like the clean, friendly atomsphere at any Publix. Any time my husband shops at Publix for a couple of items, he comes home with much more than planned upon. He loves the Buy One Get One Free deals. So do I. read more

On Saturday afternoon, March 21st, I went into the local Publix that I shop at almost every day. I know most of the cashiers and baggers, and the customer service manager as well. I had a stack of postcards sharing a free annual festival for the community that I wanted to see if the store would mind sharing. Another store last year (in which I am uncomfortable naming, given the climate of the following conversation) had allowed us to place the cards at the registers to allow customers the option of taking one if they would like. I felt that since I frequented Store 1054 regularly, perhaps they too would share the event. As I checked out (I WAS making a purchase as well) the employees were interested in the event, and the cashier took the postcard to manager inside the office (an older, white gentleman) and asked if it were okay that they be shared, as it was a free community event. Barely looking it the card, the manager, irritated, came rushing out to inform me that Publix has a "No Solicitation Policy". I apologized profusely and said that I had only thought to ask because another Publix allowed it. He demanded to know which one, and reinforced the "No Solicitation" Policy again. I was actually beginning to get offended. I told him I would not tell him, since he seemed to want to get them into some kind of trouble. As far as Publix "No Solicitation Policy" I have this to say: The definition of solicit is (according to Webster) is to "ask for or try to obtain (something) from someone". I can't count on two hands how many times PUBLIX has solicited me, their customer, for CONSTANT donations to one organization or another that it gives preference to when I am trying to simply check out and get home to my four children, who require an insane amount of groceries to survive. Not only have I come into your store 64 times since December 1, 2014 - but I have spent $4,220.12 in your store since December 1st. And I have been shopping at this particular store since July (you do that math). I feel that I have earned the right to come into my COMMUNITY store and not be SOLICITED to from a company that can more than afford to donate to the hungry instead of asking me to do it for them. Its wonderful to have a line of people staring at you say "No" to helping Autistic children (or whatever the flavor of the month is), since the cashier needs to ASK me out loud, because the flyer attached to the back of her register in my face isn't enough for me to be aware. As a matter of fact, the very day I went into your store to share the community festival that I was apparently "soliciting" for I am harrassed for the option to BUY a DONATION TICKET for your FOOD for SHARING program. So what I want to know, Publix, is who is this "No Solicitation" Policy really for? How much begging can you do from your poor customers trying to feed their families, all while refusing to do small things for the community? I am so insulted that I will be taking my $4,220.12 to any other store, the gas station even, instead of continuing to shop at a store that panders for money constantly and then shoos me off their property with my do-gooder flyers and my bag of freshly purchased groceries. The customer service manager (a different gentleman) came out and tried to provide me with your community relations flyer, apologized for my "shooing" and gave an extra smile and explanation in the heat of the parking lot that was awfully nice, as he recognizes me because he sees me almost EVERY DAY and knows that I represent one of the "community". Although the first manager I spoke with was not "wrong" with what he said, as he was touting your mantra, he sure was a jerk and showed me a lot about what you think about me and my $4,220.12. read more

I love this store. I frequent it more than I visit Kroger's, which is closer to me because of ..... the bakery. The selections are great, the items are fresh and the staff very pleasant and accommodating. My children love the free cookies and can be counted on to remind me to bring in their cards to be punched for the monthly free cookie raffle. The deli staff ALWAYS have a smile even when I show up groggy from a long night and am not sure who I am, much less what I want. They usually have a large selection of whatever I am in the mood for. And on those frequent occasions when I am spinning my cart trying to remember why I showed up, they serve FREE coffee to perk me up, just the right size to finish my shopping and get home to sleep. read more

I ordered deli chicken from publix at hwy 20 in McDonough ga and twice in one day the chicken was old and badly cooked which made me very sick. When I called later to speak to a manager to report it, the person never connected me and slammed the phone in my face. I am very disappointed and hurt about this and hope that location close down because the other Publix deli IN OTHER LOCATIONS I visited served good fresh food. However the one at Hwy 20 in Mcdonough Ga 30253 are terrible and serve bad old food and are very rude. I even spoke to the customer service manager and she was very rude telling me come back in the store with receipt and old rotten food even after I told her that I do not have car. She proceeded to snap at me and NOT apologized for service or the food that I received, and as a matter of fact no ONE ever apologized for the old food but blamed me. My family and I hate this location because other locations were professional and cooked delicious chicken and all the other food items were fresh.
