I was excited to shop at Publix while visiting Florida, but unfortunately my experience was pretty disappointing. One of the first things I noticed was that the prices were noticeably higher than what I'm used to paying in Texas, which was a bit expected. We asked a couple of employees where to find certain items, and they came across as rude and unwelcoming. After those interactions, I honestly didn't feel comfortable asking anyone else for help. The one bright spot was the deli. The gentleman helping me was incredibly friendly and patient. I was undecided about what sandwich to order, and he recommended the breaded chicken sandwich, helped me choose the cheese, toppings, and bread, and his recommendation was excellent. It ended up being one of the best grocery store sandwiches I've had, and I really appreciated his outstanding customer service. Unfortunately, the positive deli experience was overshadowed at checkout. The cashier and the employee bagging our groceries were rude, and they began speaking negatively about us in Spanish, apparently assuming we wouldn't understand. We do speak Spanish, so we understood the conversation, which made the experience even more uncomfortable and disrespectful. While I truly appreciated the excellent service from the deli employee, the overall customer service throughout the store left a lot to be desired. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this location. read more

My go to grocery store when staying in Coral Gables. It's an easy walk from my hotel. If you're driving, there's an okay amount of parking so plan your visit when it's not as busy. This store feels smaller than some other Publix but it has everything I need. Lots of gluten-free items and as with other Publix stores, they often do BOGO deals. Nice, helpful employees. read more

I'll start out by saying I'm not a big Publix fan - my regular store (the Le Jeune location in Coral Gables) is constantly awful. But the service I received at the Douglas store was phenomenal. The bakery staff was so sweet and they really went out of their way to assist me. I will definitely shopping at this location again! read more

As someone who has grown up and spent the majority of their life in Florida, I've been to more Publixes than I can count. But this one is one of my favorites for a few reasons. The first reason is their super polite staff-not going to lie, I was honestly freaked out the first few times I visited because everyone kept saying hi and asking if I needed anything (I genuinely wondered if I just looked perpetually confused when grocery shopping...haha). But everyone is very gracious and helpful when I do need something. The second reason is their salads. Their fried chicken salad and their balsamic vinaigrette salads are ALWAYS my lunch go to's- and I don't always see that caliber of salad in every Publix. They're filling and much cheaper than anything I can get on Uber Eats. And the final reason are those outstanding guava pastries and their cafe con leche. I cannot tell you how many times I've run in needing breakfast on the go and those have basically saved my life. 5/5 solid Publix read more

First & foremost, I must make clear that this is NOT my Publix, it's my dad's & as we all know, when you have your Publix, you hate going to another one. I usually bitch & moan about having to deviate from my go-to but the last few times I have been here, I have been lucky enough to run into & be helped by Lazaro! He always catches me at my most confused looking around blankly & trying to figure out where something is. He always swoops in & saves the day along with a compliment & a joke of 2. Normally I would give this Publix a 3 but with Lazaro, they get bumped up to 5 & beyond! read more

Awesome grocery store! I've been coming to this Publix since it first opened. All of the employees and managers are very friendly and make you feel at home. Every so often, I get the Rotisserie Chicken from Publix, and it is good, but the last one I bought 3 weeks ago was really dry. I can't begin to tell you how much I despise shopping at this Publix. In fact, the only reason I go here is because this is the pharmacy that I use and I have several prescriptions that need to be filled on a regular and recurring basis. The pharmacy staff is great, but their excellent management and staff are offset by the management (or lack thereof), on the grocery side of things. I'd give the pharmacy 4 stars and the grocery side minus 3, which equates to one star overall. I believe that I'm one of the few people who actually watches the cash register as the items are rung up. Virtually without fail, a sale item I am attempting to purchase rings up full price. And every time I bring it to the attention of a supervisor or manager, do they apologize and correct the error? Of course not. I usually get an argument from them. And this even includes when I've shown them proof of the sales price, or when I've gone back to the aisle and shelf and snapped a photo of the sales placard. This has gone on for years. And not once; not once, has a manager apologized for the error. At best, they'll begrudgingly make the change and give me the correct price. Of course, that does nothing for the multitude of people who have been overcharged, and will continue to be overcharged, during the course of the week-long sale. I've been out of town for the past six weeks, temporarily residing in Savannah. What a pleasure that was dealing with curteous and professional staff who know how to interact with their clientele. I returned to Miami today and stopped into this Publix to do some grocery shopping. Of course, the same situation occured with a BOGO item. And of course, I got an argument from the manager, even after I showed her the BOGO sign. The excuse was that the prices are programmed into the register and they can't change them. Well obviously, whoever programned the item made a mistake. As usual, they corrected the issue for me, but did nothing to ensure that everyone else won't continue to get overcharged. Shop at this Publix at your own peril. And if you do, review your register tape to make sure that you weren't overcharged. You probably were. read more

I can't figure out how no one has ran each other over driving as they exit this garage. No seriously, have Miami driving skills improved in only this square inch of our magically catastrophically-inclined city of drivers? Once I somehow make it alive inside, the store in split in a very awkward floor plan showcasing the freezer section in way too many aisles which make me run in circles looking for that thin crust I like. I really can't find anything and once I make my rounds the lines seem to be another disaster which I can't solve. Sometimes, there's days when no one steals my online ordered deli meat which has my name clearly written on it. I'm telling you Miami is such a magical place, I tell ya. You can make a left or a right or a straight when leaving this place to it's circular garage and weird poorly-lit corner. Yeah, it's covered parking but at what cost? read more

Working near this Publix, I never bothered going in until last week. You see, it was my coworker's birthday and we wanted to get him a cake. I had ordered it online at this Publix and wow! The cake was better than I thought it would be! Perfectly decorated, with lots of chocolate, the cake got a lot of compliments and my coworker loved the surprise. The ladies at the bakery outdid themselves. Only reason I don't give this place five stars is because I found it difficult to navigate. It took me forever to find candles and the cash register there. read more

having lived here for some time, I have come to love this Publix very much. The management is absolutely fantastic and responsive. Been using this Publix since moving here a few months ago. I live about 8 minutes away, that being said, I walk here and carry my groceries by foot, so I can't comment on the parking situation. Overall, this is a decent grocery store with *mostly* reasonable/good pricing. Couple things I dislike: I don't know if this is a Miami thing, but Organic chicken runs from $9 to $9.50 per lb depending on breasts or tenders, super expensive compared to back at my home town in CA where it's typically $6-6.50 per lb. Again, might just be a miami thing and logistics price influence, but that kind of irks me. Also what's crazy is the stupidly overpriced and wasteful packaging of premade fruit bowls. I grabbed one that I happened to see on sight and after buying it realized I paid something like $8 for a 4-6oz small bowl of fruit. Crazy, haven't bought that again. Those two things aside, what's great about this location is the constant sales and 2-for-1 promotions. You can typically always buy some kind of cereal for the price of two boxes, making each box effectively only cost around $2 which is a great bargain. Visiting today, I got 2-for-1 discounts on: Cereal, blueberries, kombucha, package of chicken drumsticks, and discounts on a number of other items. In total I saved about $25 on what would have been a $80 grocery bill, and I only paid $55. If you can spot the 2-for-1 deals and sales, you can actually save quite a bit of $ here. If it wasn't for this probably would have been a 3 star review. But having these sales makes a difference. read more

I was in the 10 items or less line since I was purchasing only 1 item. There was a guy in front of me with a cart with about 25 items in it (I tried to count as he put them on the belt). When he got to the register the cashier told him this line was for 10 items or less. He put his items back in his cart and went to another line. I thanked the cashier for doing this. In the past at other places, I have seen the cashiers just take these customers and make the ones who have really only 1-10 items to buy wait longer. This defeats the purpose of having such lines open. I really appreciate this cashier honored those of us with 1-10 items who waited in the correct line. read more

This is my neighborhood Publix store and over the past couple years, it's managed to fulfill my grocery needs. The good: 1. The coffee and baked goods station is almost always stocked with croquetas, empanadas, guava pastries and, my favorite, tequeños. The women working here are always super friendly to serve coffee with a smile. Also - you pay them separately so if you just want to grab a quick bite, you can get in and out in no time. 2. The produce section is always well stocked and easy to navigate. 3. The layout makes it easy to get around. There is the more drugstore-esque section towards the back so that you can find all of those types of things in one spot. The meh: 1. The clientele of this store definitely skews older which means it can be slow to sometimes get around and checkout. 2. The parking lot is super cramped and tends to get really crazy at peak hours. 3. The service around the store is friendly but I've often had difficulties getting someone's attention at the seafood and deli/sandwich stations. Also, they don't have an olive bar and I feel like the sushi selection lacks (can't complain too much but I feel like it's important to note). 4. If you don't know Spanish, it might be a little more difficult to really feel that friendly service vibe. There are other Publix locations not too far from here but I continue to visit this spot. Once you figure out where everything is, it's not too taxing of a shopping experience and even oftentimes enjoyable. read more

Horrible experience after being a customer for over 25 years!! The new management has no skills to handle a problem regarding of an animal abuse on their parking lot! Two dogs were left in a car with no a/c with the windows closed, while the customer was there shopping. When the situation was reported to the manager, she completely ignored and argued with the person who had reported the crime! These poor animals would be dead for being neglected by the owner and by the manager of the Publix store! Shame on you!!! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The store looks a dirty, neglected and overall depressing. For a place that allegedly supports "sustainability" it's suspect that they still sell cigarettes. The entire pharmacy area smells like fish *someone thought it'd be sensible to have the fishery by the pharmacy*, I've seen people walking around with dogs in the produce section, which I get might be help dogs for some but seriously IN THE PRODUCE SECTION? That puts the rest of us in jeopardy. Management doesn't measure up to what I think of as management, and the overweight middle-aged woman who works for customer service is so insipid, useless and annoying that I've stopped asking for their help altogether. Seriously, she speaks in this whisper that yells out "I'm powerless and I know it!!" Anyway, she gives me a headache. Publix is a disgusting store, if you want a place worth your time, I'd say go to Trader Joe's, The Farmer's Market or Whole Foods and if you want something affordable, go to Aldi's. Anything but this company. The terrible thing is that they're EVERYWHERE in the south, but understandably they can't spread to other areas, no one anywhere else would put up with their disgusting style. On top of the fish smells that seeps through everything, the lighting is obnoxious and the produce is lacking. I know many people in SoFlo eat poorly, but maybe they do because they don't have many choices! Save your money, go somewhere else. read more

Despite the staff being very helpful and welcoming. My issue is always the employees at the register who kindly jam all your grocery into 2 bags as if they are being charged for each bag they use. I mean, it's only common sense not to bag bananas w a bag of potatoes. And cleaning products separate from food. I'm very patient but I cannot over look this. Management needs to get on top of their employees about this. However, I must point out that when they have baggers, they do a great job. read more

Publix Deli can't be taking 15 minutes to make every sandwich. Either simplify these sandwiches or get some

This is a popular Publix for the retiree set in Miami, to be more exact the abuelita and abuelito, Spanish speaking sect. The obvious is the confusing and strange layout makes it less than desirable. But once you spend a few minutes in here you'll realize the customer service makes up for it. There is almost a neighborhood feel to this particular member of the large chain. Shoppers and workers alike seem to know each other and have histories of morning conversations. My experiences here are always quick and not-memorable or review worthy, that is until today. I stood in a long line and a cashier said to me in a friendly tone, I'm open over here Miss. I looked up, smiled, and walked over. She proceeded to make a little small-talk but more importantly she was positive and gracious to her coworkers as they asked questions and when it was apparent we'd be bagging the groceries together she asked me about how I wanted it organized. Then of course, I realized I'd forgotten something and mentioned it to her. She was once again funny and nice. The best part is her humor is slightly dry. So, the next time you're in this Publix look for Erlyn, she wears glasses and be prepared for some good, old-fashioned friendly service. Maybe grandparents do know how to choose the best market based on customer service. read more

As was mentioned in a recent Yelp thread, not all Publix stores are created equally. To me, this one here on Douglas is not as well lit, the aisles don't seem as wide and, in my opinion isn't as well laid out as the one on SW 27th Ave near Coral Way. Also, this Publix is a bit tired looking in places. On the evening I came here there were no staff to bag groceries, so every customer I saw checking out was bagging their own which is something I've never seen at a Publix before. As the other reviewers mentioned, the covered parking can be nice, but it appears that some of the spaces are meant for compact cars and there's no signage to indicate this. As a result, you see pickup trucks and SUVs trying to squeeze into these spaces and they end up taking up 1 full space and part of another. When I got home, I found that there were 2 heads of garlic in my bag. I don't remember packing them and I certainly never bought them. I don't really have a use for these, so if any other Yelpers want them... read more

Well, I hate to break the trend, but when I saw the reviews, I had to share my perspective. All Publix stores most certainly are NOT created equally. I used to live on US1 near Dadeland and the produce at the S Dadeland Blvd store cannot be beat! I will never seriously go all the way there to do my groceries, but as a point of comparison, I was really disappointed to find that, when I moved, the local Publix carried a full display of nothing but soft and shrunked batata (in other words, way too old to be shelf-appropriate). And can you believe it, these pretty much unusable suckers were still full price (which, as you can imagine, ain't cheap). On top of this, good luck to the man who wants an actual green plantain. They are always yellowish or all the way ripe. It appears that the disadvantage of this neighborhood Publix (and I emphasize the neighborhood part) is that it's just too low volume for them to afford keeping up certain types of produce. Now, if you wanna talk basic stuff like lettuce, cabbage, american sweet potato (the best one I've found here--super sweet and yummy with no accompaniments), etc, and even auyama, I can guarantee it will be super fresh. However, the produce variety is waaayyy lower than S. Dadeland. S. Dadeland has cool fruits and everything is well-stocked, including the viveres/viandas and other Caribbean/Latin food necessities are guaranteed to be uber fresh. I found the same to be true of Monza Ave, although if you don't get hit trying to find a parking space, you may get run over by a frenzied cart-pushing customer in the store. Beyond the produce, the organization of this store is just plain stupid...I can't even think of a better word for it. The refrigerated sections (dairy, meats, frozen) are literally scattered all over the whole dang store. The produce is in this random corner where you'd never imagine you'd find it. Layout here is strange. As someone else noted, there do seem to always be fresh flowers and there's always a solid line for the bakery on the weekends, so they must be doing something right. Update: The corn here that seems to perpetually be on sale 10/$2 is absolutely horrible!! It's too hard to even consume and, yes, of course I cooked it right. ICK! This horrible corn makes me miss VA when I had a real farmer's stand two or three blocks from home and the corn there was always amazing. Also, produce here is always in super low stock, if there's stock at all from after 5PM on out. It's so sad. Also, I have gone in here far too many times and seen moldy strawberries (maybe they are doing something wrong with the settings on the fridge because the non-refrigerated ones are always perfect). read more

This isn't the best Publix in the world, but it's location for those in the area and the service offered by the staff makes this a great Publix. I lived in the same building for several years and being able to take an elevator downstairs to go grocery shopping is now something I miss terribly. Additionally, even though it's fairly small they've still managed to cram a great deal of inventory and variety. And lastly the produce is always fresh and you can get a great cafecito up front. read more

5 words Best Philly Cheesesteak sandwich ever. Ok ok scratch that 2nd best because I found one here in LA but best in Coral Gables lol. I was hungry and well I didn't know what to eat so the babe brought me here. I didn't know why but I now I knew the deli section. The sandwich was infused with peppers mushrooms and all that stuff that sandwich offers and I enjoyed it. Every single bite was heaven. mmmm. Don't mock me. I normally do like green peppers and take'm out when someone puts it anywhere on my food but this was great and I ate it. :) I shopped here last time by myself when the babe was at work. It is a cute grocery reminds of a mix of Whole Foods, Trader Joes and a regular grocery store....or one of those mexican groceries in East LA kinda like that thing all in one. I would definitely come back when I go back to Miami, how else am I supposed to get fresh fruit and other junk food to eat at my place anyway. And it is walking distance from my hotel so works out for me. read more

Like Sergio said before, there are about 4 Publix in close vicinity and the one at Douglas Grand is the better and more preferred of them all. I like this Publix because of the covered parking (just in case it's raining), it's well lite (not like the one on Flagler), good selection of fresh flowers and the staff are always stocking and keeping the store clean. This is my grocery store. Almost as much as I like eating good food, I like to cook good food. And where do I buy I groceries? Well, for staple items--HERE =) It is always well stocked, has a good supply of fresh fish, baked goods, produce, and deli items. My favorite part is that it has a little Publix cafeteria serving up latin favorites at the front of the store (to fill you up before shopping--and prevent grocery shopping hungry syndrome, which we all know is deadly to the wallet ). Outside, the parking lot is half open and half covered, and just a little small during peak times, but, easy to access from two entrances. Service is always kind, and bilingual. This Publix is slightly below the normal standards for a Publix. For one the majority of employees speak to you in Spanish which is alright if you are fluent (which I am). Secondly, I have placed four different orders online for deli services and three of the four were messed up in one way or another. Not sure if this is a language problem or just neglagence of computer knowledge from the deli employees. On the bright side they have sandwiches and a little Cuban cafe area which makes for a quick cheap lunch stop. Also, this Publix is just as clean as any other Publix! Wish I could give this 0 stars. This is my neighborhood Publix but they have now lost another customer. I've given them several chances but every time I leave frustrated. Yesterday I went in to pick up a few things and got on the express line. The light was on but no cashier behind the register. At the foot of the register was a Publix employee and a manager who were talking to a friend. I assumed the employee was the cashier so I waited a bit...maybe five minutes. There was no acknowledgement from anyone that there were customers waiting at an active register with no cashier. The manager looked in my direction several times but never said anything. I ended up waiting on the next line (while the manager and employee continued talking with their friend). When I finally made it to the cashier, the woman didn't say a word to me until she finish ringing up my groceries then she mumbled something in Spanish. I assume it was the price but don't know. I paid and said "thank you" to her. She was silent. So I said "thank you" again. She just looked at my and said "de nada." My first job was as a cashier in a grocery store. We had to greet every customer. We also thanked the customer for coming to our store and shopping with us. It shouldn't be the other way around. It is clear that management doesn't care enough to hire bilingual cashiers, train them properly, or appreciate the customer. Maybe this store is great by Cuban standards but it is unacceptable by US standards. It's unfortunate that the corporate office doesn't do something about this. Looks like I'm heading to Milams from now on. Thanks Publix. read more

In an area that offers a surprisingly lack of decent supermarkets, this is the best around. I dig the covered parking and the large wine selection. Plus the place appears clean and relatively new. I was so spoiled by Dallas-style suburban supermarkets ... I miss the massive, sprawling marts selling everything under the sun and offering amazing customer service. But I digress. In this area, I've seen nothing better - until you scope Fresh Market or Whole Foods, but heck, they don't sell Coke or Cheetos. The Public on 27th and Winn Dixie on 22nd are dingy and overpriced. This place is much, much better. read more
