I don't think I had ever been to this particular location before this day. Probably because it's in a very congested odd spot. It's a few blocks from Interstate 75 exit off Howell Mill in the opposite direction of where most of the stores are in that area. It's entrance is kind of weird because the store doesn't actually face Howell Mill. The good thing is that they have handicap parking if you need it literally at the front door. The store is on a smaller scale. Very tight. Overstock is stacked high above the shelves however I was able to find what I needed. I had a sandwich made. She was very courteous and took care with my sub. I found a lot of sale items that were in the circular. No issues with that and check out was a breeze. I also received assistance from a manager looking for some bacon. It was a nice experience. read more

I love the Publix by my place (Marietta's blvd) .. but this one needs so much improvement... the sandwiches are still okay but the worst place I've gotten pub subs from... location is tiny and staff members have never really stuck out... no self checkout which would be okay but they don't have enough registers open and it takes forever to check out ... definitely one of my least favorite Publix's read more

I LOVE shopping at Publix with my family because my experience with the employees has always been above and beyond beyond what any other place can offer. It has been in my opinion the Chicfila of grocery stores. However In the future I will do everything I can to not only avoid this Publix but encourage EVERYONE I know to stay away from this location on Howell mill. This Publix supermarket is located in the Howell Mill Village shopping center near the tight/busy intersection of Howell Mill and Collier Roads. My primary grocery store is the Publix in Atlantic Station, so I rarely visit this Publix, though I have on occasion when it's convenient. Out of all the Publix stores I've been to in metro Atlanta, I've experienced the best customer service at this location. The staff here have been friendly and helpful, including one of the managers, who once bagged my groceries for me. Other than that, there's not a whole lot that separates this Publix from other stores throughout the metro area. Being an intown Publix, the parking lot is smaller, but at least there are more spaces here than the Publix at Piedmont (Piedmont and North Ave.). Also there are no garages to deal with (e.g. Publix at Atlantic Station, Publix at Plaza Midtown). Due to the nearby single home neighborhoods, I've noticed more families shopping at this Publix compared to the other intown Publix stores. The store is clean, brightly lit, well-stocked, and nicely organized. The signs are well-placed and easy to read, making navigating the store a breeze. The produce and meat seem fresh and the breads at the bakery smell good. Not a big deal, but the magazine/periodical stand at this Publix seems small compared to the others. It does seem to be one of the "quieter" Publix stores. However, when Collier Rd. gets busy, it can be a pain to get out. Sometimes, it's easier to exit the shopping center via Howell Mill than it is Collier. read more

I moved a few months ago, making this Publix the closest one to my residence. Luckily, I'm able to find most sale items on stock each week I come in. So for the 4 stars: parking lot and check out lines. The lot is rather small, so shopping here at peak times maybe a little tricky. Most of the checkout lines are closed everytime I go in. Self checkout would be a nice feature here, but I guess due to the size, that will probably never happen. read more

I love going to this Publix. The employees have always been so nice to interact with and seem to be just all-around good workers. I just moved to Atlanta so I can only personally speak for the past month-ish (but hey that seems like a decent amount of time), but I love going there when I need a pick-me-up or a nice start to my day. They always have a great selection of food and some of the freshest grocery store produce which I especially appreciate. The store is very clean and I'm impressed with the level of efficiency (& patient attitudes haha) the staff is able to maintain even when the store is super busy. Please be nice to your retail/customer service workers! You can really tell here they're doing the best they can :) read more

This Publix is decent.. I'm not a huge Publix fan because I prefer to shop at Kroger. However being that this Publix is in the city and they are ridiculously understaffed everywhere in the area I can't really hold them accountable for how long I've had to wait for assistance or subs. The Publix down Roswell Rd in Marietta, GA is by far the best Publix I've shopped at so far. Hands down!! They have a wide variety of food selection and delicious pre made gourmet meals, and a huge wine and beer selection. read more

This Publix is honestly not the best Publix. Customer service is horrible. Most employees don't greet you and are not helpful in showing you where things are within the store. The Publix on Marietta Blvd just 5 minutes away is a much more pleasant experience. Just prepare for a lack of genuine customer service here. read more

The woman at the CSR desk was abruptly rude to me as soon as I walked to the desk by asking did you see the sign? I turned behind me to see who was behind me and realized she was speaking to me so I said what sign are you referring me to read? The woman's response was the No dogs allowed sign. I said my dog is a six pound service dog that I carry around for anxiety when in public. The woman never said anything to apologiz. I wonder if the CSR is trained to know that you are not supposed to ask if a person who has a dog any questions? read more

I love the close proximity to my house and the delicious Publix ready made foods in the deli and bakery. I also love the customer service, as most of the employees are really nice. I come here twice a week at least, sometimes even twice in a day! As much as I love coming here for snacks and sweets, I never do a full grocery run because Publix is EXPENSIVE. What I hate and why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the horrible parking situation. It's ridiculous. I think they have 20 parking spots at most. read more

the pub sub workers put in EFFORT to move slow. And often make jokes with one another about how they wish they didn't have so many customers. There will be 4-5 women back there and only one working the sub line while the rest watch. it's truly shocking the lack of effort. I come to this publix almost every week and get a sandwich from the deli. i have had vanessa make my sandwich on multiple occasions and everytime im disappointed. she is super rude and lazy when making the sandwich. she stacks all the toppings on one side of the sandwich and when asked if she can add extra she is rude and interrupts me with "what else?" in a very rude and blunt tone. she should be moved to a different department because this is obviously not where she is happy or belongs in the store. if i could give zero stars i would. terrible service everytime with her. read more

I stop in today to get a few items and all's always picked up more than I had in my list. The employees at this location should me rewarded for their outstanding customer service. I want to personally thank Johnathan in the meat department for taking the time to assist me today. I need oxtails for my dinner tomorrow and didn't see any out. He immediately went to the back to cut and prepare me a tray. I was very pleased that he took the time to trim away excessive fat. My new neighborhood grocery store! I'm so glad that Publix opened to replace the Save Rite. As a Tech student, I went to the Howell Mill Kroger, turned off by the higher prices and inability to find easy items at other Publix's in the city. But this Publix has changed my mind. The store is well laid out. It's well stocked, and actually, the prices on most of the items that I buy are cheaper than the Kroger, even if that does make me a brand/food snob. Also, the produce is much better. Maybe it's because it's new, but this store is also cleaner and much better maintained than other grocery stores in the area. And the staff is very polite and helpful. The down side - the parking lot is at a weird angle so it can be hard to get in and out at rush hour (particularly Mondays at 5). read more

Yay! Something finally replaced the Save Rite on Howell Mill Road. Publix has set-up shop and they are a welcome addition to the neighborhood (it's not quite my neighborhood, but close enough that I can go). This location has had a few different tenants and I think was also an A&P at one time. The store is very well laid out and I think they're trying some new things in their deli. For example, they apparently are now offering Boar's Head frittatas that are pre-made in the deli so you don't have to wait for it to be prepared like the subs are. It might be because the store is new, but everyone seemed extra friendly and I appreciated their help, quick check-out, and carry-out service (which seems to be missing from the other locations). read more

I have lived in this neighborhood for 40 years and all I can say is thank God for Publix! This is the 1st time this area has had a decent grocery store. It is always clean, well lit, well stocked, and professional. The service manager has gone out of their way to help me on more than one occasion and have always been courteous, friendly and professional. Once I couldn't locate an item in the meat department and the store manager went and found the butcher for me who immediately got me a what I needed. Another time there was a sale on a particular item and I got there when the store was sold out. The manager offered me a return coupon good for whenever the next shipment arrived, regardless if it was after the sale was over. The Bakery department has the best breads! Their staff are always attentive and come to me immediately to see how they can help me. The Deli is wonderful and people love their wide selection of choices for fresh meats and cheeses, or even packaged meal to take home. Even though there is competition in the area from other grocery stores, there is no comparison. Publix rises far above these lesser stores, both in service and in quality. Don't waste your time anywhere else. Come to this store and you too will feel like you have finally found home! read more

I love this Publix. With the gagglefuck that is always over at the Walmart/Kroger I can manage to get in and out of this place quicker than over there (even if it's closer to my house). Most of the time I prefer to stock up at Buford Highway Farmer's Market, Cost-Co and Peachtree Road Farmer's Market. This store is larger all of the Publix in Midtown and the produce selection is by far larger and fresher than all near by choices. I love the farmer's market much more, but Publix does the trick when I need to pick up mid-week veggies for a dish I'm preparing. Just like any of the other Publix, this store offers excellent customer service and clean, organized lit aisles. They have several Con's though: No Pharmacy, Tight Parking, and Awful Barkery (sorry but I bake most of my own bread). I give three stars, as my standby for last minute items. read more

I love Publix. Their BOGO makes them a steal, and contrary to popular belief their prices are actually the same if not BETTER than Krogers most of the time (when comparing regular prices). They have wonderful BOGO, which basically means 50% off. PLUS they double most manufacture coupons, so when you combine the two, then I mean, amaze. The problem is, these Publix's are hit or miss. You never know when one is a "real" Publix with a full selection of all the items or a smaller one. Obviously if you're in the 'burbs (deep in dekalb, gwinnett, rockdale county, etc) then of course you're good to go. But there's really no way to tell in the city. We all know the one near Tech Square off Spring Street is very very limited, but I was surprised to find this location lacking in certain varieties. And that's my issue... it's lacking variety. Also, parking is a bit awkward. And I seemed to have recently visited on a day where someone was robbed or something because it was swarming with policemen, at least 6 cops. I guess I won't hold that against them but this seemed very odd to me. Sufficient to say I won't be visiting this location unless I just have to. I do love Publix though, they have great customer service and policies. read more

I've never had a bad experience at a Publix; their service is always top notch. I definitely give this location high rankings for service, but since it's in a smaller venue, a 3 for selection. A lot of products I would prefer are usually not available here, and if I'm looking for something specific I often have to go to the nearby Kroger or Walmart to find what I'm looking for. As far as day-to-day items, however, I can't complain. They have the usual bakery, sandwich, and hot bar, and just added a pharmacy. I haven't moved my prescriptions over but I have noticed their selection in the over the counter items is also limited. Again, just due to space, but I've wanted to buy a few items (like a wrist brace) and stopped in to find zero selection. Produce is fresh and I've recently tried the Publix brand nigiri which surprised me by how good it was. Parking here is a bit of a nightmare. I'm not sure why they haven't tried to fix the situation but the parking lot is way too small for the store and is laid out in the worst way possible. I can't believe I haven't witnessed a wreck yet. Be careful! Overall the service is great, the quality of what they do carry is great, just a small store so the selection can be limited and parking is difficult. read more

Yeah, its newer, cleaner and brighter than the nearby Kroger but while they occasionally have sweet 2-for-1 deals on things I actually want, their prices are almost always higher than Kroger, and their selection is not as good as Kroger. And I'm surprised there hasnt been a terrible accident in that crazy shallow parking lot. My wife shops here, but the only Publix I found that I really like is the one in Vinings but thats another review. read more

I see there are a few bad reviews of this publix and it would seem they're by people who had just some one-off bad experiences. I live right across the street and do all my food shopping here first out of convenience but long-term because I have been over and over again impressed by the genuineness and friendliness of this location. It's a big chain but every time I come in I feel like I'm in a small town grocer where everyone knows everyone. I don't know what the training is they do or whether they have just a really great hiring/hr manager but all the people that work there seem really quality kind people to me. I will say the parking lot is smaller and so is the store over all but the convenience to where I live is a fair trade off. I can get 90% of the items I ever need here. People that have given it poorer ratings sounds like some of their complaints are unwarranted. You can't compare it to a larger publix or Walmart or Kroger...it's not large. Of course it's going to have less selection and of course the parking lot is going to be smaller. But that's relative. It's in a shopping plaza with a number of other shops. The parking lot is sufficient. Those people just sound like they don't like walking and want to park directly in front of the store which they're aren't a lot of spaces. But all in all it's certainly better than not having one at all. read more

Somebody needs to tell the deli workers about the 5.99 subs advertised as they charge 7.99 and don't want to hear about the special price. The last couple of times I've been in this store they have one deli worker and a line a mile long. I usually travel to a different site to shop because this place seems out of it. I've had bad experiences in the past at other Publix locations in the area. But, I decided to give Publix one last chance, primarily because I heard the Publix down the street from me carried the newest Bolthouse Farms products...but, they only carried two. Womp. Anyways, my family and myself decided to concur our weekly shopping list at this location. Unfortunately none of us were wooed by our experience. Yes, Publix is clean, neat, polished. But, it lacks a wide variety of products. And this goes for all departments. For instance, the produce section is extremely small. The grocery aisles don't carry all major brands. The butchery has maybe 3 different brands, which would be their own, an organic brand and Perdue. And furthermore, not a lot of different cuts to pick from. I wanted good quality chicken thighs. There was one package and it was swimming in juice. :/ Not to mention, Publix is expensive compared to its competitors. It can claim that it has deals, coupons but, it actually just makes it more complicated. In ordered to receive these "deals" you must grab a coupon book at the front. It takes up too much time. Why not have a card? Or no card at all? It's just so frustrating. Also, the staff...not extremely welcoming. The only person I was greeted by enthusiastically was the older man behind the seafood counter. He happily helped me with my shrimp order. The Publix deli counter is supposed to be a staple within Publix. Curtious, welcoming, accomidating...yes we received our subs. But, we weren't given a warm welcome. I had never ordered a sub from Publix before, but my husband has. I didn't know where to pay. I didn't know how to go about getting a drink. I wanted a bag for the few subs we ordered, but apparently they don't carry bags behind the counter, just baskets? When I asked questions, the boy behind the counter some how made me feel stupid by being short and giving dumb stares. I stop in here on the way home from work for items every so often. Last week I needed a couple prescriptions filled thanks to the flu and a car accident. The pharmacy staff were friendly, helpful, and fast. Today, I stopped in to fill a follow up prescription and received the same level of service. Really nice when you are not feeling your best. One star only because the "manager" Spring was her name approached us because we had our SERVICE ANIMAL which is a dog! In the store! I proceeded to inform her that he was a service animal. She then wanted to school me on what a service animal was. Unfortunately she was incorrect. My family and I have been shopping at this location for over a year and honestly it was because of the great service. Shopping is a pleasure at Publix even as an employee of a competing chain. I visited today, as I do often, to pick up a prescription for my mother. This location has recently built a pharmacy so now I don't have to travel to 3 different stores to pick up meds for mom. They're doing a deal where you get a $25 gift card for transferring your prescriptions to this location. Sweet! They didn't have my 7 layer salad and oddly enough the gentleman behind the deli didn't seem very apologetic but that is rare here. I opted to get sushi instead and the sushi chef even offered to make me a fresh roll. Redemption! Check outs are generally quick and the front end is always pleasant. Most employees who work here are nice and friendly. Publix is a more expensive option than Kroger but I go to Publix for the convenience. They don't often have everything I need but it's a smaller Publix so that's understandable. One thing they love to do at check out is put 1 item in a bag so you go home with 3 million plastic bags. It's ridiculous and it's my fault because I keep forgetting to bring my own bag. I just don't understand the bagging logic but ... after just 1 visit I now have an endless supply of plastic bags to start my own grocery store. read more

They were out of three out of the six items on my list. I told them to take down the sign that says, "where shopping is a pleasure".
