DO NOT RENT HERE! What started out as a rental that cost $300 a month had been raised to almost $800 per month! Every quarter the rental rate went up significantly! The manager and regional manager refused to help! They said that it's not meant to be long-term storage. What does the timeline matter as long as you're paying on time? I understand small price increases for cost of living but this is an egregious increase in a 2 year period. I always paid on time! We never missed a single payment and was never late on a payment!!! On my 5th month, they raised my rent by $98. Beware! When you chat with someone to inquire about the increase, you get someone that is seemingly tone deaf as the immediate response is to feed you lines from the contract as if you can just haul all of your stuff from one storage unit to another. Here is their chat... "Public Storage is a month-to-month rental facility, and everyone renting with us is subject to a rate increase at any time with 30 days notice, as outlined in your lease agreement, Section 2.2. We get the percentage of our increase depending on the market value, and changing market conditions of the location as to where the unit is being rented so rate increases are inevitable. I rented a unit online. Folks at the Westford location were fine. When it came time to get a refund, things go downhill. Although the company acknowledged my refund due for 2 months storage, to date I have not received it. It's going on 3 months now. repeated calls getting "The check is in the mail" answer. Not bad storage facility (it gets the job done). It's not the cleanest facility I have ever seen but it was so be as expected. The staff was super helpful and nice upon booking a unit. Beware that they do charge for a lock and you have to have insurance so that factors into the price after you lock in the monthly rent. So far so good for a long term storage unit! There was a leak in my unit and my mattress got so moldy it had to be thrown away. The unit smelled musty and was always damp and the front desk was rarely staffed during opening hours. Rent also increased 3 times during my 6 months here. Unaffordable and low quality. It would have been cheaper to throw everything away and replace everything I own. BEWARE OF MOLD! I would give this place zero stars if possible. I was in a "temperature controlled" unit in building C for 8 months and all my furniture, couches, clothing, shoes are all covered with mold. Not to mention the sliding glass door to get into the building has been broken since July so you physically have to slide it open to get into the building. Oh, and the lights in the units don't work so you have to use your cell phone flashlight to see. BEWARE!!! This facility does not care about customers. I tried to transfer ownership and fill out a Release and Conveyance deed like I have many of times across the great state of Massachusetts and they said our policy is to not transfer ownership. They are willing to lose business by inconvenience customers. They want me to empty the entire unit of my former employers material and equipment and have my former employer rent a new and entirely different unit. The ONLY reason for this is to inconvenience you enough to keep the unit. Now they are losing 2 organizations business, my former employer and my current employer. If I could give ZERO I would. I'm not sure if the people below are staff members or what, but there is NO PLACE someone could live on site unless they live in one of the units. Perhaps those reviews are for the storage place in Chelmsford, which is AWESOME. This place, not so much! Let's start week 2 when I came back and saw that my lick had been tampered with. Broken, so I couldn't even open my unit to see if anything was missing. Went to the office, the woman called the manager who said he was busy and would check it "in the next week or two. The next time he was down". So, I had no idea if my stuff was even still in the unit. Called the police. They broke the lock for me. Luckily, nothing stolen but what kind of manager says they'll check it in a few WEEKS!!! Especially when I'm paying $213 a month! Filed complaint with management = NOTHING!! Police told me MANY issues with this location. Bought new lock. Week later, freezing out. Rest of building warm. Unit outside my unit stuck on AC. So, it was FREEZING in my "climate controlled" unit. Talked to office. Told they called for repair. Two weeks later, still freezing. Called management = NOTHING!! Two weeks later, snowed, fence taken down and security gate broken. So, now I'm paying $213 a month for a freezing unit with someone obviously trying to enter units and now, the security gate is left open for whomever wants to come & go through the night?!? Today was last straw. Finally went to move out of unit today. Heating/AC directly in front of unit blowing freezing cold air. Brought meter. 42 degrees in my "climate controlled" unit. "Security" Gate still wide open. Told it was still broken from my last complaint a MONTH ago. And the kicker?!?? When I was moving my things, there was RAT FECES throughout!!!! And no, there was no food in my unit and all items came from my home & were clean when I brought them. I am FURIOUS and filing an insurance claim. This is the worst managed place I have EVER experienced and I've used a lot of them. Oh!! I almost forgot. When I first rented, they assigned my email address to someone else's account!! This storage facility is a joke!!! No security with 3 open walk though areas without fencing. The doors to the building were broken for 9 months. Never had a working light in the unit after many requests. This is a pretty straight forward business that should run efficiently and correctly. There is no management on the property that can make any necessary repairs or corrections. They even had the nerve to increase the rent! The drainage just pours off the roof in front of the entrance and units on the first floor. With other good options I suggest you NEVER use this joke of a business! I chose this facility because I had used it when I moved into this area. What a difference! It began with them assigning me the wrong unit. When I pointed this out, the result was that they charged me for both units. That took a while to resolve, and then I moved into the unit. The next issue was when I saw the charge for the next month's rent. It was for the full amount, not the promotional rate I signed up for. I placed multiple calls, most of them went unanswered; leaving voicemail for them to call me back. I still have not received a callback, even after the one answered call said that they would raise it to the district manager. I placed three unanswered call today, and finally paid the full amount, and set a move out date for the end of the month. I already have an agreement in place for a different facility and Public Storage is now out of what was to be a one year lease. read more

I have used many storage places and this is by far the best! Starting from day one Sandy and Bob were fantastic. Friendly and they took time to help me get the best deal. From start to finish this experience was wonderful from Sandy offering to help me get the perfect sized unit (so not to waste my money), to my last day and Bob being so kind and helpful. My husband and I didn't need to store a lot and decided on (with Sandy's suggestion) a 5x5. It was clean, well lit and a huge plus an elevator to get our items up to it. We rented for a little less than 2 years and the price was very reasonable. I forget our offer when we first signed but I believe it was first month or $1 GREAT PROMOTION! I never had issues with my auto payment like I had before which was a huge plus. The closing process was quick and painless. Bob informed me all I had to do was tell him when our last truck went out and that was it. Bob and Sandy treat their customers like they would want to be treated and it is greatly appreciated. I will be renting here again if I need space in the future! **only negative is the sign is a bit hard to see from the road but just keep your eyes open :) read more

I'm confused because they say a 5x10 storage unit is actually more like a 3.5x10 but it's 50 sq. Feet because you can go "8 ft. high". Pretty sure the height doesn't go into the square footage of the floor of the unit. I wish if they said 5x10 they actually meant 5x10. read more

The units are not clean. The dust and dirt is deplorable. Thank god i wrap everything in plastic. The moisture is also a problem. I put a couple of card board boxes in and within two weeks they had already severely begun to degrade and I had to replace them with plastic. Thank god all other items are stowed in plastic. The hours do not completely work with my available hours, I would hate to see what happens after nine pm., would I have to seriously remain inside the gate until the next day ... as a hostage. I was in the hospital and my monthly storage payment was late. I was very quickly locked out of my unit, without even a notice. Once paying for the unit several phone calls had to be made to re-instate my pass code. I had a unit at U-Haul prior, and never ever experienced these issues with them. Most importantly the unit was not dirty. I spend a great deal of time properly packing, listing, (some of my items are listed on let go for sale), and cleaning my items, only for them to have a coating of dirt on them. I don't know if its a combination of the metal structure or the small outside vent placed on the back wall , but I am not at all comfortable with this place. Most importantly they are too cheap to put a "lighted" sign outside. This has caused me to drive by my destination on countless times, another source of irritation. If i could move my stuff quickly and easily I sure would go back to U-Haul. read more
